    Not worth the money!
First of all I want to say that we have been to Gettysburg MANY times. This audio tour was a ghosts of Gettysburg tour and we didn’t feel we got much of that. The main thing we didn’t like was that we felt that it was very difficult to get to the start of the tour because there were TWO different Gettysburg Heritage Centers. Of course we went to the wrong one at first. I don’t think I’d do this audio tour again. I think you could find much better info about ghost sightings, etc online or on YouTube.

    Well worth the $
We took this auto tour on a cloudy Sunday, which afforded us almost empty roads. This tour is long if done right, but there is so much to see and learn. Take food and drinks if needed. There are a few places to use the restroom via Porta potties. There is also many hiking roads. It got dark before we can check out the Gettysburg national cemetery but we plan to see it tomorrow.

    History lessons all week!
Definitely needed more time. From the battlefields to learning about the townspeople who helped with the aftermath at the train station we learned so much about the three day battle. We did private battlefield tour, double decker bus tour, diaroma, train station tour, Wills house, Shriver House, Jenny Wade House, various shops in town, and even the Lions Potter just out of town by Artillery Ridge Campground where we stayed! We will return again!

Great value and easy to use!
Was easy to use. Had both historical and ghostly stories. Very cool! We were able to do part of the tour one day and then pick up where we left off at easily the next day.

    Disappointing
Unfortunately, the app does not work very well. The map disappears or sometimes shows a very zoomed out view of the western hemisphere instead of where you are. If we got off the route there is no help getting back on. The app would go back to the beginning. When the app was working there were times when the audio would indicate we could get more information, but the app didn't show the option for more information sometimes. Other times I was able to click on more information and then it would display an option for about a second and then it disappeared. I was only able to get it to work once or twice. When we were on the route and it was working, the information and narration was very helpful and interesting, but I would have liked more. It was quite sparse, in my opinion.

    Ghost tour 10/10
Ghost tour was great, it rained and our tour guide Jordan made the best out of the situation. We learned a lot and had a fun time. Would recommend to anyone looking for something to do in Gettysburg.

Fun and smart way to explore the battlefield
Very easy to use and directions were simple to follow. It took a minute to figure out how it worked but after we got to the first location it started on its own. This tour was excellent because it combined the historical significance of the locations around Gettysburg, but also wove in stories of hauntings and creepy stories. This was a way to do the history tour without too much of the war and battle explanations, which aren’t everyone’s thing. I liked how it instructed you to park and then just stopped playing until you’re driving at a new location. We got to go the entire way at our own pace and explore when we wanted to. WAY better than a guided walking tour in the summer heat!!

    Good directions and history notes.
Good directions and history. There is a National Park app that has similar routes and history but the vocal guide is nice to have so you can pay less attention to a map and more attention to your surroundings. There were a few sites we would have liked a little more details but overall it was worth the purchase

The tour did not work at every stop. The voice started and stopped. I wound up reading the text which was very frustrating because I didnt get to enjoy the monuments.

The Battlefields of Gettysburg were amazing. There are so many battlefields to see. It can be quite confusing if you have never been here before and are doing a self guided tour. I highly recommend that you download the app to tour the Battlefields. You can do this on your phone and you may need to do this at the Visitor Center for the wi-fi to work. Once you can get this on your phone, the guide on the app literally tells you where to start and turn and as you go along each spot, it will give you the history of where you are. Couldn't have seen everything with such a back story of where we were without the app. Highly recommend doing this. It will take about 3-4 hours depending on if you stop and get out and walk around, but it is worth it to walk around the monuments and fields to get a feel for what tragedy happened so long ago. If you are quiet and just sit, you can almost feel the experience of what happened so long ago. Take your time touring the battlefields and plan for a whole day to truly enjoy the experience. They also have tour guides that will personally take you to the battlefields, but there is a charge for this. If you want to do on your own, it is still a great experience.

Love hearing that the tour was awesome! Great tips for all future users. There’s wifi at the Gettysburg Heritage Center (and the tour begins right from that parking lot). If there’s anything we can improve to get that extra star in the future, please let me know!

I thought the tour was great. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to work the app, however once we got it going, it was terrific! My only suggestions would be to make it work on apple car play so we could see it on a bigger screen. However if it has to work on a phone can they make the navigation guidence work in landscape mode when I flip the phone. One last thing, in the narrations can they add more detailed directions on finding landmarks, like “look to the left by the white house” or “look to your right at the top of ridge” ect. On more than a few occasions, we had a hard time trying to figure out what and where the narrator was referring to. However the tour was great and we didn’t have to leave our car. I would suggest however doing the tour during the week when its less busy.

Thanks so much for the feedback! We’re so glad you enjoyed the tour and love all the suggestions! They’re perfect timing because we are actually releasing a landscape mode soon — you are spot on! I wish we could have Car Play but Apple doesn’t allow tours on it yet (fingers crossed that it’s a future change). And we will definitely go through the tour and add more descriptive explanations of landmarks so that they’re very obvious! The next time you’re back in Gettysburg, please check out our Ghost, Devil’s Den, and Seminary Ridge tours. Thank you again!

We didn't have a huge amount of time to spend seeing a whole lot, but we wanted to see a whole lot. Thought we'd take a chance on this "self-guided" driving tour. It was WELL WORTH IT. The information the program shared was outstanding and the claim that it was GPS linked was right on the money. Worth every dime we spent on it. In addition, the cost was amazing - just had to purchase one $9.99 "ticket" and ran the program on my wife's phone as we drove around.

Love the app and the information it contains. I have used another one the self-guided driving tours in another city and found it useful and informative. One challenge in Gettysburg is getting oriented to the city and area and finding the exact starting point. From there, it is easy to use. A great advantage to this app is being able to start and stop it to get out of the car and visit a site. Another good feature is that if driving around the battlefield, the app will know where you are and play whatever monument or feature was close to where you are. On this trip, I did take a licensed guide tour and still found information on the app that wasn't disclosed by the guide.

One suggestion: it is annoying when starting the app to have the "start" narrative each time. Is there a way to totally separate out the "how to use this app, etc"? It becomes redundant to have to try and bypass this each time.

Thanks so much! The Gettysburg Battlefield is so full of stories and we do our best to tell them all. Thrilled that we were able to share more than a licensed guide did! Great feedback on the starting info — I didn’t realize how frequently that might happen. I’ll look into separating out all of that “how to use” stuff ASAP!

We downloaded this tour and listened to the narrator as we drove through the park. The park is amazing and beautiful but this review is about the audio tour. It was a bit frustrating to use since it didn't always sync up exactly with the GPS. It was, however, inexpensive and very educational. We spent 8 hours touring around the battlefields and listening to the narration. We got out and explored different parts of the park, read signs and saw some reenactments. I think a regular tour would be more educational though but this was good for highlights.

Thanks for the feedback! For more education/history, please check out the Learn More stories under many of the stops! They’re great for deep dives. For GPS, the app must be allowed location tracking permissions in order to work — the GPS functionality in the tour won’t work well without that. Since you didn’t have the chance to truly experience my tour, I’d love to offer you a free exchange — please reach out!

The battlefield is amazing and sad at the same time. So many lives lost on both sides in such a short time. Terrible conditions to treat the wounded. Mass chaos in certain instances. True heroism and dedication to a cause on both sides. Created for me the visual feeling of monuments to the Greek or Roman gods. Many many monuments.

The self driving tour had its pluses and minuses. On the plus side the narration is clear and informative and the price is very good at $9.99. On the negative side the GPS system has flaws. It is too small to understand the map so you must rely on the oral instructions. These are sometimes Ok and sometimes not synched well with your exact location. They give you one shot at each turn. Not like a GPS in your car. The detour instructions are misleading. Take that part very slow or you could become lost and outside the park going nowhere fast. Leave yourself minimum to 2.5- 3 hrs to do this tour as otherwise you will miss alot and opportunities to get out of your car and walk up close to the monuments

Thanks for your input and taking the time to write for future travelers David! I’m delighted that my tour of Gettysburg Battlefield was able to bring the incredible stories of Gettysburg to life for you. Gettysburg Battlefield was truly one of the bloodiest battles, which is sad when you see it in front of your eyes. Regarding the flaws you observed, I'll include a warning for the turn ahead and will find and fix the oddities in the detours as soon as possible for future travelers. In addition, I have 100 other tours in the USA. Please check them out on your next vacation. Also, just to remind you that the tour you bought is yours for a lifetime. So, you can listen to it at home or on your next visit also.

Excellent driving tour! Price is very affordable. It takes you all throughout the Battlefield area with very good information at important points of interest. You can go back to hear some thing again there is also written words and pictures to go along with the narration. There are two different places to start from, we chose the visitor center and did the movie/museum tour for 15 additional dollars which was well worth it. You can also see the cyclorama which is unbelievable ! definitely a worth while experience. It helps to be technically savvy

The Gettysburg Heritage Center is where we purchased the tour…the lady working that morning must have had a bad morning….she was short with us and irritated with our questions. But I would recommend this tour……it was only 10 dollars and we were able to go at our own pace. There was some confusion at first when we made our first stop and turned off the car, and again when we got off track, but overall it was informative and helped us visualize what took place. We stopped at one point and met a nice couple, one of whom was a history professor, so we got a lot of info from him. If we had taken a regular tour, we would not have had this added bonus! I would recommend this tour, especially for the price.

I'm sorry to hear about the rough start at the Heritage Center; I'm thrilled you found value in the self-guided tour and even met some cool folks along the way! That's the beauty of going at your own pace. Remember, the tour never expires, so if you're ever in the mood to revisit the history, you've got it right in your pocket. Safe travels and many more serendipitous encounters on your journeys!

We booked the self- guided 2-4 hour car tour and it was excellent! Everything was organized for us the way it was described in the description of the trip. We started at the visitor center and went through the museum before driving to the starting point of the route. If you listen carefully about speed and directions there is no issues in the family the tape. There were a couple of detours due to construction, but this is clearly indicated on the tape, and you are still given the opportunity to pull over to hear the history of those pin points that you are skipping. We took two hours, but we missed a couple of detours, and didn't get out of the car as often as you can, so I would say that two hours is the minimum. You can add an extra 30 minutes if you take a walking tour as offered. This time does not include the time that you spend in the cemetery at the end of the trip. Very much recommended for the Gettysburg/Civil War buff!

We bought this for our tour as it seemed to be exactly what we needed and showed us what we wanted. BUYER BEWARE: It does not work with Apple CarPlay, it will only give you the audio. We were on our motorcycle which has Apple CarPlay, we use it all the time for Google Maps, Amazon Music, etc and it works great. We got the app, uploaded the map ahead of time as they recommend and when we plugged the phone into the bike, it played the narration but the map did not show on the bike display. It is impossible and unsafe to be riding a motorcycle with one hand and playing with your phone with the other hand. This Tour App was totally useless to us as we were not able to use it. It was a complete waste of $15.

We're sorry CarPlay wasn't working for your motorcycle trip, Todd! We completely understand how frustrating that must have been, especially since safety is essential. We've issued a full refund for your purchase, and hopefully, Apple will approve CarPlay compatibility soon. In the meantime, you can still use the app in your phone's map view.
