- rebcarp00A great tour! Our personalized three-hour tour was informative and interesting. Would highly recommend this experience for anyone interested in learning more about Gettysburg. In addition, the museum was interesting.
- Q7891UNmarag00A Must See Museum!I mistakenly bought tickets to the Gettysburg Heritage Center thinking that it was the main visitor's center. What a lucky mistake! A really nicely laid out museum with several immersive experiences. Easily on a par with the visitor's center we had intended to book with. (Do both!) Be sure to watch the 15 minute mini documentary - it really helps clarify the history. Give yourself somewhere between 1-2 hours to enjoy this semi-hidden gem.
- 5Aliveepm00Personal tour with LarryOur your guide Larry was exceptional! He provided a personal tour that made history come alive. We recommend this tour (especially with Larry) to experience and learn more about Gettysburg.
- Passenger1370729599400Essential Gettysburg TourMy father is a civil war buff, so we decided to do a 5 day tour of the eastern theater of the civil war. Key to this is obviously Gettysburg. So I booked a a small group tour of the battlefield with Chris Brenneman in our car (about 4 hours). He was absolutely outstanding! His enthusiasm and encyclopedic knowledge of all aspects of the battle and surrounding history really was the highlight of our tour. We could not have gotten 5% of the history from trying to do this ourselves. If you really want to understand this pivotal battle in the civil war, I would book this guided tour.
- EAY197600Great Museum ExperienceWe toured the museum for the second year in a row and were really pleased with the film and the exhibits. The cellar experience in the museum was pretty amazing. The staff was friendly, helpful, and polite. And the gift shop had a wide variety of books and other items. Well worth the visit and it had great parking.
- William S00She knew her stuffGuide was very knowledgeable and did her for our requests. Great job. She really tailored her presentation to our specific interest.
- Sarahna K00BEWARE: THE GUIDE WILL CANCEL ON YOU LAST MINUTE. DO NOT RESERVE A TOUR GUIDE FROM HERE - IT WILL RUIN YOUR TRIP.We reserved a 4-hour enhanced battlefield tour weeks in advance to ensure that we were able to get a guide and spend the day touring the battlefield and learn more about the history of the civil war. The day of the tour, we get to the departure point only to be told that the tour has been unceremoniously canceled, without any prior notice. The folks at the Heritage Center did not find a new guide for us, instead making us run around to other places, which had guides already booked out for the day. The last-minute cancellation left us without any other options to have a personalized tour of the battlefield, thus wasting our entire day. The terms and conditions for booking the tour explicitly mention that "All tours take place rain or shine. The only circumstance for a guide to cancel is an official closure of the Gettysburg National Military Park" and demands that customers can cancel their reservation only upto 72 hours in advance. But they can, and will, cancel your tour FIVE MINUTES AFTER it is scheduled to begin without so much as an apology. We sorely regret reserving a tour from here and will recommend everyone to get a guide from anywhere else but here. This place will waste your time. - Destination59474100Incredible Day at Gettysburg Battlefield with a guided tourOur group did a Private 2 hour Tour of the Battlefield and Museum. Our guide Eric Linblade was PHENOMENAL!! He was Very knowledgeable and personable! The way he told the story kept us all engaged and wanting more! The museum was a Great way to see the battle through the eyes of the people who experienced it!
- suekav1300Battlefield tour and museumWe did the private 3 hour tour of the battlefield and the museum. Our guide, Mike, was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We would highly recommend this tour. It helped us decide what parts of the battlefield we wanted to go back and explore more in depth. After the tour was complete, we went to the museum, which we also highly recommend. It gives you the perspective of the townspeople and how the battle impacted their lives not just during the battle, but for the months following.
- Mike C00Book the 3 hour personal guided tour- I can’t recommend highly enoughWe booked the personal 3 hour tour. The guide travels in your car and takes you round the battlefield. The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a fantastic insight to the battle as it progressed. Everyone thought this was one of the highlights of our holiday. He answered all our questions and spent time walking parts of the battlefield to point out the most important developments. Just excellent.
- suelongson00Great place to learn about GettysburgWe went through the Heritage Center after scheduling a 3 hour tour of the battlefields. I enjoyed the history and the way it was presented at the Heritage Center. The day we were there, there were some folks chatting about battlefield medicine and life in camp - they were fabulous and we learned a lot from them. It is well worth the trip.
- gmgilbertsc00Gettysburg a place remember,A lot to see at each venue . Started here did the driving tour ,didn't think I would make the walking tour. I did walk on hollow ground at Pickett's Charge. Movies don't do it justice.
- Y1492WNscotts00Excellent TimeWe booked a 3 hour tour with a certified guide. We have been to Gettysburg numerous times and have even had a guide on several occasions. Tom did such a great job. Even with the number of times my family has visited Gettysburg, we came away feeling like we learned a lot and had such a great time on our tour.
- NBAIHolistics003 hour tourWe took a 3 hour tour with David W on Sat morn. Highly recommend this tour and we learned a great deal from him! Very personable and a master of his subject matter!
- C1865KHmartink00Later part of the Day 2 Peach orchard areaHad a tour with LBG Richard Rigney. It was everything I wanted and more. Richard was a wealth of knowledge and very personable as well. The time went too fast!

I’ve lived in Gettysburg for 25 years and would recommend this to anyone who visits. The exhibit and movies are unique and top notch. Tells about the battle not only from the military perspective (which it does amazingly well and clearly) but presents the challenges that the town and faced before, during and after the battle.
Nowhere else in town does such a good job making it real.
I can’t recommend it highly enough. Great and informative time.

Thank you for the wonderful review! Many people feel we are one of Gettysburg's best kept secrets! We work to offer you a glimpse into the town of Gettysburg, and what it was like for the civilians who called it home, while also giving you a good understanding of the battle that encompassed the town.
Please be sure to stop back and visit with us again!

I booked this activity after reading about in on tripadvisor. According to the listing it was available seven days a week. My reservation was for a Tuesday. Upon arrival the sign on the front door listing the hours said closed on Tuesday. Needless to say we were very disappointed. We could not go any other day as we were leaving.
Next time I will call before booking. As a follow up we were able to get a full refund. Make sure to call the museum before booking.

I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. We are limited on staffing this fall. We have since updated Viator and found away to block Tuesdays and Wednesdays from being booked in the future.

We did what was suggested on TripAdvisor which was to make the Gettysburg Heritage Center our very first stop when we arrived in Gettysburg. We definitely made the right decision, and the experience provided an excellent overview of the history of the battle, before, during, and after. The short movie was well done and then we enjoyed going through the museum which was very well organized and informative. The entire experience here was great and we would highly recommend a visit to the Gettysburg Heritage Center.

After traveling back in time on the Gettysburg National Battlefield bus tour it was very interesting and touching to hear and understand those days thru the eyes of the people who lived thru them and the aftermath.

Very informative about our driving tour, One day is not enough to see all the tour has to offer. I will come back for a longer trip.

We toured the Heritage Center & Museum and enjoyed the movie prior to our 3 hour private tour. This was a first time for our children and grandchildren, this visit gave them a fabulous introduction to the conflict in Gettysburg. It provided many details that they did not know taught in their schools. The individual guided tour is well worth the money, these guides are both knowledgeable and passionate and the information they share is unbelievable.

Decent little stop for my 11 year old. He loved the “cellar experience”, the 3D glasses used for some of the display pictures, bullets preserved in trees that had been cut down, the brief movie, and the hollowed out “witness tree”.
It’s primarily a perspective of the battle from the residents of Gettysburg. The impact on the town, and the aftermath. It has enough historical elements and artifacts of the actual battle, but not nearly to the degree you’ll find at the main visitor center run by the NPS. It is a nice supplement, and a different spin on the battle, though.
Pro tip: The gift shop also offers some of the same souvenirs as the main center, but for a couple dollars less per item.
