Great way to get to know the history of Philly
Katelyn did a fantastic job! She was personable and an amazing storyteller. She paid attention to our needs and took us to some neat spots. I especially appreciated how she gave us an overview of the tour when we started.

The guide was friendly and funny, the food was delicious. I was really impressed with the Tomato pie and how amazing the pretzels were! Saw some great sites and learned some interesting Philly history. We are going back to Philly soon and have already booked this again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Surg. He provided wonderful information, not only about the food and the restaurants, but the area and the history and cultural significance of the dishes.

Great Way To Show A Friend About Our City! She Loved it! And So Did I!
My friend from South Africa was coming to Philly for the day to see me. I scheduled this tour thinking it would be a great way to show her the city. It was awesome! I live in the suburbs but learned so many more Philly details than I had known before! The food stops were fantastic and Michael was a great guide! He was friendly, knowledgeable and we all had a lot of fun! It was fun to watch my friend enjoy Philly food and although she is vegetarian and did not partake in the Philly cheesesteak, she was graciously accommodated with a vegetarian hoagie, which was also tasty! I HIGHLY recommend this tour if you have a day in Philly and want to learn a little history and eat some fantastic food!!

      "Wunderbar!"
As a repeat customer of City Food Tours my wife and I enjoyed this one immensely. Being Pennsylvania Dutch myself, I was interested in sampling the German food and beverages. This was our first time at the Christmas Village. There is so much to see and take in while being there. We essentially received a "private" tour since we were the only ones signed up. Kaitlin, our Tour Guide, started us off with the Belgian Fries and gave us some history of the Village. We traversed around different shops and tasted some great food, i.e., Schnitzel, Spatzle, Raclette, and Bratwurst. We even sampled some "mulled" wines. We then headed to the City Hall and saw the Christmas Tree and carousel. I would recommend visiting the Christmas Village by taking the Food Tour with City Food Tours. Ask for Kaitlin, she was wonderful.

      Good history
I would have liked to see a better restaurant selections. Yget a mini soft pretzel from Philly pretzel factory, a small slice of tomatoe pie, a small cheesesteak from unknown restaurant a cookie and a donut from reading terminal. But the guide was terrific and I learned a lot more about the history of some of these foods and the area.

The Only Way To Truly Understand Philadelphia
Food tours are one of our favorite ways of visiting a city. You learn aspects of the city and its history that you'd never find out from a standard historical tour and, well, the food is delicious! This was a particularly good tour. Our tour guide, Kaitlin P., was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about Philadelphia and its cuisines. You'd think that a tour that features things like pretzels, tomato pie, and cheesesteaks would be pedestrian, but it was absolutely incredible!

I did the tour with a group of work colleagues and our guide was Michael. He had lots of little interesting tid bits of information about the history of the Market and the food there. You can of course go to the market yourself and go around the stalls and buy/try things. However, some of the very popular items like Dinic’s pork/beef sandwiches (melt in your mouth meat), had a queue around the corner of you hadn’t pre-ordered! So doing the tour saves you time and disappointment too. We also had a little room that we were able to sit down and eat in with our big sandwiches. That was easier than walking around trying to eat amongst the lanes. After the tour officially finished you can ask all about any other food outlets and recommendations. Then go visit some more. Great food and great guide. Enjoy!
