The advertising leads you to believe it's an open air bus top. Some are and some aren't! The plexiglass top was full of scratches and you could't get any pictures or even see very well. Plus it's like a greenhouse inside. The day of our tour was beautiful and 70 degrees. It felt like 100 degrees trapped under that plexiglass roof. We asked about the open air ones and were told every other bus is open air. We purposely got off did some sightseeing and scheduled ourselves to get back on one that should've been open air, but a covered one showed up. What should've been a great tour was a big waste of money.

We've used hop on hop off for many years. Today we were in Philly! The experience really depends on the tour guide. We were in DC on one of these and had a pre-recorded "tour guide" and had to wear headphones. Today we had a live person, Ernest. He was so cool. The human element is worth so much more yet this tour was 2/3 the cost of the one in DC and ran much better.

We had no trouble getting back on a bus after we stopped to eat however, the buses only come 1/hour which is a long time if you go to a stop to find out you just missed the bus. I would suggest they change this to every 20 minutes, or at least 30 minutes. We got off to take pictures of Rocky and the stairs and then ended up walking the mile back because it was faster than waiting 45 minutes for the next bus.

We were delighted to learn that they will come pick you up if you're staying somewhere outside of their tour. However, we didn't consider how we would get home and ended up walking the 2.5 miles back to our Airbnb. It was a nice walk and was a great way for us to see the cute neighborhoods but if you're someone who cannot walk that far, make sure you have a plan.

All in all, we had a great experience.

Great tour. We didn’t need a 2 day tour bus as we were able to see the whole thing in an afternoon.
The on off portion would have been great if one of the stops was near my hotel, but it wasn’t. It wasn’t worth it for me to Uber to a stop and then use the on off to get around the city. Hence, a great afternoon overview of the city, but not worth the 2 day pass for me.

The tour was half the usual tour. We should have been charged a child’s rate at best.
People could not get on bus at different stops due to seats not being available. Waiting times at different stops was a hit or miss.
The tour guides made fun of people that could not get on bus due to capacity. Microphone stopped working halfway through the tour and while no one complain, we went back to starting point and started the tour all over, this was very annoying.
TRUST ME, rent an indigo bike and tour the city at your pace, if you don’t, you’ll come to regret it and you will think about this post and how you didn’t listen……you have been warned 🫤

The bus is clean and the guide is knowledgeable. The bus driver yet again did not know where the stop was for the Mutter Museum and had an attitude when telling her we wanted to get off on Stop 18. I had to speak with 3 different staff members, all of which were unaware that YES there is a stop for the Mutter Museum at stop 18. Finally the knowledgeable tour guide had to let the driver know where to stop. This was the second time we took this tour because the first time the driver had no clue of her route and it took us over 2.5 hours to get to the museum only to be told it was closing.

After we made ONLY ONE STOP to see the museum. We literally waited one hour and 10 minutes for the bus to come around again. It was a holiday, traffic was light, many sites were closed so there is no excuse to have us standing in place for over an hour to get the bus. We were all assured it was only up to 30 minutes wait time in between pick up times. When the bus finally came, she did not see us because this other bus driver was in the middle lane not the right lane and could not stop in the middle of the street to pick us up. We ended up walking 6 blocks to Terminal station, having lunch and leaving the city for the day. It is unfortunate that this is the only bus system currently available to see the city because they waste the consumers time making it impossible to see even half the sights offered on the tour.

I bought the 5 day Philly GoPass through AAA for their winter break right after Christmas. I have 3 grands and a suburban/city lover. So it was a win win! The kids could ride the train from NJ for free to 30th St Station. By the passes being all inclusive, they were able to not only go the the Aquarium, Franklin Institute 2 or 3 times, but the Revolutionary Museum, Independence Plaza, Rodin, Art Museum, African American museum, Jewish Museum, Natural Sciences Academy and so many more attractions that in 5 days they still didn’t make it to Penn Museum or Longwood Gardens! So if you have the time, plan it out a little and enjoy, it was well worth the money. The only issue the kids had was the “hop off and on” start point was too far from 30th street to use that feature (unless you’re walking the 25 blocks and bus back o guess. Try it, you’ll like it. The boy’s throughly enjoyed them selves.

Our guide ruined the tour with personal opinions and his background.
While I fully support LBGTQ rights and learning about black history, that was the vast majority of the tour topics apart from some occasional jokes about the rest of the city’s history and about himself. That’s just NOT what I “signed up for” in taking a general tour of Philadelphia. Two sentences were said about Independence Hall. I highly suggest management gives guides scripts and ask them to stick to it.

We have been on many hop-on, hop-off bus tours. We take these tours to hear about the city we are visiting.
Unfortunately our guide, Geovvane has developed his “show” that mostly includes him ignoring history and the sights we are driving by.
95% of his narration includes “jokes” that are not funny. He laughs at everything he says and he is not funny.
We exited the tour early to escape this incredibly uninformative tour.
I am from the U.S. and know a good deal of Philadelphia’s history. But for someone from another country hoping to be informed, this guide’s narration would be completely useless.

Our party of 6 purchased tickets for the bus tour, boarded the bus then after going one stop were told there was a detour and the bus would not visit 10 of the 27 stops. Having walked extensively around the City Centre, these were the areas we wanted to visit. Had we known about the detours we would have picked another day. Extremely disappointing. Furthermore after waiting 20 mins for a bus at the Liberty Bell, the bus we caught then waited 10 minutes at the next stop for 5 passengers to pay and board, rather than leaving and those passengers getting the next bus.

We have done many of these sightseeing tours around the world and this was by far the worst experience of such tours. When we mentioned the issue at the pay point at the end of the trip we were just told “you should have been informed about the detour when you paid” but were not offered any refund.

It was a waste of 6x $38!!!
