About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- cerra20020 contributionsLots of history and a little mysteryThis tour was well worth the price of admission. Michael was a very fun and knowledgeable guide. I liked learning some of the history of Philly along with some of the mysterious events that happened in the City of Brotherly Love.Written July 16, 2024
- Dodgersfan780 contributionsGhost TourBea was a great story teller. There was confusion on the meeting place, and we got a call from a second tour guide saying we were supposed to be on his tour. Not sure what happened there. We didn’t see all the sites listed, but the ones we did visit were beautiful with great stories to go with them. It was a fun night!Written July 12, 2024
- Courtenay Z0 contributionsNot Permitted to GoWe’d bought a 1 day sightseeing pass which was meant to include this tour. When we arrived we were told our pass wasn’t scanning and we wouldn’t be able to go unless we provided a credit card. As we’d already paid for the pass we weren’t prepared to do this as there was no guarantee in place it wouldn’t happen again. Still not sure if it’s a problem with Sightseeing Pass or this company, but either way we were not permitted to take a tour we’d rightly paid for and now won’t be returning to Philly, so that leaves a very sour taste for our experience! We’re from Australia so it’s not like as a remedy when they figure out between them what the problem was that we can just pop back and take the tour. The customer is always left in the middle with these passes and vendors, it’s not right!Written September 11, 2023

- ckralowetz0 contributionsGreat TourGreat tour. Lots of history with a family friendly ghost story at each stop. Lots of stops—we felt like we got to see a good bit of old Philadelphia. Group was small and the guide was way to hear. Highly recommend.Written July 30, 2023

- W3160DQcharlesh0 contributionsHistory and ghost storiesWill was terrific! He kept a good pace and I loved how he interwove history with local ghost stories. He did a great job of getting us around to a few of the sites we hadn’t been to yet on our own travels. All the participants had fun and enjoyed the evening.Written July 13, 2023
- D1200DNdennisw0 contributionsSmall group, great experienceGuide was veryknowledgeable, apparently does the history tour as well. Did it in June, so not very dark, but the guide was a verygood storyteller as well as being well informed on the subject matter. Was just my son and I, and another family of dad, mom and daughter. Guide engaged with everyone, mostly on how much the tourists engaged with him. I am mostly quiet so he talked to the other Dad more, it that was fine for me. He did engage when I did ask a question or make a comment. Highly recommend.Written June 11, 2023
- 453mayaw0 contributionsUnreliable tour operator.Tour cancelled last minute! My son and I went to meet the group for 7:30. No one showed. Decided to check my email to find a cancellation was message sent less than an hour earlier! No details or explanation. I understand things come up but this short notice impacted our evening plans greatly. A text would have been quicker No doubt. In contrast, the tour we took the next day not only sent a reminder text with meeting point info etc. but followed with another asking if we enjoyed the tour/guide. Never recommend this company.Written November 6, 2022
- christelr9780 contributionsSpooky historyOur tour guide was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and personable. We learned a lot of history as well as heard some creepy ghost stories.Written September 17, 2022
- merangel990 contributionsGreat Start to Trip! This was the first thing we did upon arriving in Philly for a few days. We got a little turned around and almost joined another tour but we found where we needed to be. Julianne was our guide and was fabulous. She waited for us and was polite, engaging, and informative. Our group was small which made for a much more enjoyable tour. Saw lots of cool sites and loved hearing more about the history. Julianne knew the stories yet encouraged our active participation. By the end of the tour we felt like we were friends. Well worth the time and money! My only suggestion is to make sure you eat before the tour! Our 730pm tour ended at 9pm and food options were limited. But that's on us. Thank you, Julianne, for a memorable and fantastic start to our Philly vacation!Written July 31, 2022
- SarahH85770 contributionsA Wonderful Dark History Tour of PhillyWe had such a great time on our tour with VIv. He was very knowledge about the history of the city and events that occurred at each stop along the tour route. It was definitely not a canned presentation which I really appreciated. He was enthusiastic and friendly. The tour had a nice flow to it and was not to fast paced. I would highly recommend this tour if you like history, dark details about the past, and seeing the city at night!Written July 26, 2022

Melissa was AWESOME. I travel fairly often, and try to do some sort of guided tour anytime I visit a major city. I have never had a guide as enthusiastic as Melissa. You could tell she loved the city and the history she was passing on to us. It really made it that much more enjoyable for us as tourists. Melissa, thank you for your passion and energy, and keep it up! Don't ever stop teaching people about “the room where it happened”, and thanks for teaching us about the new city hall, and the William Penn statues! Super awesome bits of trivia I’ll keep with me!

Though it was hot, it was still a great tour. You only get to see a small section of the city, but it focuses mostly on the Revolutionary War area.
The meeting location was simple to figure out and our tour guide was great. Like many Philly attractions, he really contextualized the period and the thinking of the time instead of just spouting trivia facts. This guided in the understanding of the men who created the government to our city. I even told him I thought he'd make a great history teacher because of the way he presented the facts.

It guide was very knowledgeable, but the tour doesn't include any entrances to the sights along the way. Most of the museums are free, so make sure you plan enough time to walk it again and see the museums that interest you. It was a 2 mile, 90 minute tour.

Connor was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and very personable. He was also loud enough to be clearly understood through the mask and cover the street noise. Great overview of the rich history that abounds in this city. Highly recommend.

This tour was fine. We went to the places listed in the description, and our guide had a few sentences of information to share about each one. He wasn't really able to respond to follow-up questions in much detail. Compared to other walking tours we've taken, we didn't really feel that the guide or storytelling made the experience come alive, but the itinerary was as described, and we were happy we got to see a variety of historical buildings that were important in the history of Philadelphia and the US.

We fully enjoyed our walking tour through the colonial district of Philadelphia! Connor did a wonderful job of relating the history of the buildings along with interesting anecdotes about the founding fathers (and mothers). The walk was very manageable, the stops were well paced, and the dialog was entertaining. We suggest you do this introductory tour first, then go back to enter the buildings of your choice.

The tour was a great experience if you a there for the first time or coming back and want a refresher of what each spot is around historical city. Each spot you get the quick back story and trivia of history. The is a lot of stops and you spend literally less than 5 mins which is nice because it was really hot that day and had kids with short attention span. When the tour was over, you can go back and spend more time observing and reading signs and displays a spots you find interesting. Our tour guide Will was very nice and knowledgeable about the city. He was theatrical and kept the groups attentions without trouble and answered all our questions.

This was the best thing to do if you want to learn about all the History located in Philadelphia. Our tour guide - Lee - was phenominal. He knew so much History and the 1 1/2 hour tour was not nearly enough time to absorb all the knowledge he has. Allow yourself enough time to park your vehicle and find the meeting place. We didn't and then were rushed to get to the meeting place on time. There is a large visitor center where you can get answers/maps to help you find out where you need to go, but the National Park Ranger was very crabby and not nice at all. In fact, most of the "security" and National Park staff were not freindly at all. You need to go thru a security check at the Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. EVERYTHING closes at 5:00 in the historical area. We spent about 5 hours seeing all the amazing History buildings, eating a Philly cheesesteak sandwich and seeing the Rocky statue. We could have been there all day if we had the time. It's a lot of walking so be prepared. As for the Tour, it's HIGHLY recommended. Totally worth the money.

We booked a private four hour tour. It was the perfect amount of time. We could take our time and not be rushed. Our tour guide, Michael, was excellent! You could tell his passion for history and Philadelphia. Because we had four hours with him, he could also take his time and tell us extra stories and facts. Michael did perfect interacting with my children and answering any questions we had. I would recommend this experience to anyone and look forward to doing it again on our next trip to the area.

Our host was super sweet, funny, and knowledgeable. The tour is covers a lot and is very informative. The tour covers a lot in the 75 minutes so not a lot of time to stop and take in the various sites or for pictures. You can definitely go back after the tour is over and explore more!

Can anyone recommend a hotel within walking distance?
Written May 28, 2022
I am interested in booking the walking tour but want to know about parking. Is there a lot or garage and does anyone know how much?
Thank you kindly.
Written May 28, 2022
I don’t know how helpful this will be…..I don’t remember about parking real close to Constitution Center. We parked our car in a garage next to our hotel (across from Reading Terminal Market) and walked to the center. We actually walked everywhere we went (or road the purple bus) so I didn’t pay much attention to parking.

About how long or how many blocks is the walking tour my husband is not as much of a walker as I am
Written May 2, 2022
The total tour took about 1 hour and 20 minutes, but this included a series of short walks (no more than a block at a time) followed by pauses at the various sites to listen to information provided by the entertaining tour guide. These breaks allowed plenty of rest stops, which made the walk very manageable. The total tour is confined to a relatively compact historical district, not spread out over long distances.

How do I book a private tour and does it cost more?
Written October 24, 2021
We will be in Philadelphia for a day and was wondering what the best way to get around is. For sure we want to see Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and Benjamin Franklin‘s attraction . We appreciate any and all suggestions to help us get the most out of Philadelphia in a day. Thank you
Written September 13, 2021
No it doesn’t. It doesn’t go inside any of the buildings but provides a lot of information about them! I highly recommend doing both the walking tour and then visiting the inside of Independence Hall!
