About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- E9933BVtonym0 contributionsNo miss in NYWithout any doubts this is a Great and Fantastic production. One of the BEST I had seen in NYC recently. The Singing, Acting, Scenography, Visual Effects and everything else is remarkable and very, very well done. Highly Recommended.Written February 14, 2025
- 176selenaw0 contributionsA must see......This was worth every penny. A must see. I learned a lot about Ms. Keys life. Many learning points for parents of talented children...Written February 14, 2025
- JohnHHdiamond0 contributionsAudra Audra AudraThis is one of those shows you go to see the star and do not really care if the rest of the show is meh. Audra McDonald was a force of nature. Phenomenal. Intense. The rest of the cast was great, but compared to her they just seemed ok because Audra was simply in a league of her own. I found the first act kinda slow and dull, but the second act picked up and by the time the show ended I was blown away. Go see Audra before she’s gone - it’s a real theater experience!Written February 9, 2025
- JanF100 contributionsVery poorPoor … didn’t raise a smile with most of the audience. Got better towards the end but there are far better shows out there to see. Wouldn’t recommendWritten February 8, 2025

- H2028JWjessical0 contributionsDO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!!WHAT a way to celebrate not only talent and music but literally - New York! A FANTASTIC show ALL THE WAY THROUGH. Sending the audience out beaming into NY streets with dazzling inspiration and appreciation. That feeling - I will NEVER, EVER forget. Thank you to cast and crew for persevering, enduring and finally sharing your talent and brilliance with the world. Thank you Alicia Keys for your every note, bar...stanza..poetry. Thanks to all the teachers/mentors who 'sees' pupils and teach them their worth...and what they can be capable of.Written February 4, 2025
- Mirkotravellerr0 contributionsChicago is a must see!!!This experience was a bleast! We enter in the theatre that the show was just started cause we take the tickets at tkts and the Line was quite long. The show is 10/10. Theatre wonderfull, Actors are hilarious and full of talent. Music and orchestra Did amazing! Super fantastic experience.Written February 2, 2025
- 586leighw0 contributionsDon’t go to this show!By far the worst show I have ever been to see. The disrespect of the show to Celine Dion (taking the Mickey out of her medical condition) and the Titanic disaster is unfounded. It is sold as a comedy/musical around the brilliant Titanic film, but it is far from that, so do not fall for its misleading marketing. Numerous people walked out and I expect it’s the same each show. If I could rate it 0 stars I would.Written February 1, 2025
- Ed_Uyeshima0 contributionsAudra Reinvents Mamma Rose for the AgesREVIEW: "Gypsy" at the Majestic Theatre, January 19, 2025. I was fortunate enough to see Patti LuPone's passionate version of Mamma Rose in the 2008 Broadway revival of "Gypsy". Her performance was very much the one I expected in the unrelenting, fearsome mold of Ethel Merman's original rendition. Casting Audra McDonald as Rose was initially surprising to me because I would've assumed her beautiful multi-octave soprano voice would be at odds with such a hardscrabble, tyrannical character. To my unending delight, she completely nailed the character from the inside out in her own unique interpretation as the legendary show's first black Rose. As directed by George C. Wolfe, not a word was changed in Arthur Laurents' original book to reflect the racially divisive times of the dying vaudeville circuit, yet it's quite apparent in the characters' motivations and actions that race was a tangible factor in eking out a living in show business. If you don't know already, the musical is about how Rose attempts to gain stardom at any cost for her perky, ambitious younger daughter June. Rose's older daughter Louise is ignored until June runs away and elopes. Rose redirects her energies onto the initially unpromising Louise. She shows no onstage talent until Rose has her fill in for an errant stripper in a burlesque house and this leads to Louise's lightning-fast transformation into Gypsy Rose Lee. McDonald captured all the domineering Machiavellian elements that make Rose so insufferable, but beyond that, she made palpable the real pain and sacrifice she experiences as someone who was unable to fulfill her own dreams. She interpreted the classic Jule Styne/Stephen Sondheim songs with emotional precision. The flawless fluidity between her head and chest registers was thrilling to hear in the cavernous Majestic. The rest of the cast couldn't help but be overshadowed. Danny Burstein made a deft, solidly grounded Herbie and duetted nicely with McDonald on "Small World" and "Together, Wherever We Go". Joy Woods convincingly delivered the requisite metamorphosis from the overlooked Louise to the sexually self-aware Gypsy. The trio of strippers led by Lesli Margherita's loopy Tessie Tura on "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" provided welcome levity during the more melancholy Act II. My one complaint about the show was the hurried pacing of the final dressing room scene between Rose and Louise. It didn't register as strongly as it should have. However, this led to the show's unequivocal high point, "Rose's Turn", the definitive 11:00 number, and McDonald delivered all the power and resentment that Rose had built up in a clarion call of monumental proportions. I couldn't get up on my feet fast enough to appreciate the virtuosity of her emotionally naked performance. Yes, she was that great.Written January 29, 2025
- reb_attard0 contributionsHamilton - superb!Hamilton is an amazing show! Music, performers, direction - all fantastic. I would watch it over and over again. P.S. If you need to use the women’s bathroom during the intermission, think quick, line was exorbitant and ran into the theatre.Written January 28, 2025
- KrisMorrison19980 contributionsCabaret - a MUST see!!!Absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! Adam Lambert was impeccable as always, as was Auli'i. The story line was eerily apropos to current events. The performance elicited a myriad of emotions - glee, happiness, raunchy fun, heart break, sadness, dismay - a truly thought-provoking performance by the entire cast! BRAVO!Written January 27, 2025

Thank you to everyone that made this show possible. And to Neil Diamond thank you for giving of yourself thru your music. You are admired and loved. G-d bless you!Written January 26, 2025
- 288ingas0 contributionsFreak showThe show is horrible. Bad music, bad plot, fat dancers on stage dancing for Britney Spears songs… and kissing guys, yes, right on stage. Well, if you like this kind of culture, then of cause you’ll like the show. For me - it was gross performance and $500 down the drain. They should really put all of this on the posters, so people like me won’t buy tickets and won’t bring their kids to see this freak show.Written January 25, 2025

The positive is that it is a very polished musical, as one would expect for a musical that has had as long of a run as this one has. It was a comedy and the songs were well sung. The negatives is that if you are a devout Mormon, likely this musical would upset you on many levels. In fact, even if you aren’t Mormon, in some cases the jokes/scenes were nasty and in other cases irreverent towards religion in general. I love to laugh, but there were times when I was considering walking out. It is clearly a popular musical, but I can’t recommend it and I would definitely not recommend bringing kids to this musical.

The Book of Mormon - mixed experience. I found some of the comments quite distasteful and felt uncomfortable watching some bits, but that’s just me. Definitely some humorous moments, cast was amazing - particularly Elder Cunningham. At times, the show felt a bit tired - understandable considering how long the show has been up for. I would personally opt for other shows given the opportunity again, such as Hamilton.

Fantastic show. Funny and very well performed. Loved every minute. Was quite confronting in some ways, probably not suitable for people who are easily offended

This is a very dated piece of theatre I was so offended by some of the content It was so base and quite depressing
Jokes about aids transmission and female mutilation Just NO I can’t say how much I was offended I don’t go to theatre to have this stuff out in my brain
This show has had its time and its time to end it
Don’t waste your money
The theatre also has overpriced snacks and drinks and the chairs are SO uncomfortable

A bit raunchy, but if you know that before you go it won't be a surprise. Still has several good messages. Hilarious! Has the pizzaz of the big shows.

Foul language and disrespectful subject matter. Satirical but too much so for our taste. Lots of gay insinuation. Just not our taste. Each to his/her own.

MUSIC, SINGERS AND PERFORMANCES OF THE MAIN ACTORS GOOD.
I AM SADDENED TO READ IN PROFESSIONAL REVIEWS THAT THIS PLAY IS NOT FOR PEOPLE WITH "THIN SKIN", I AM GLAD NOT TO DIE LAUGHING WITH PHRASES LIKE SLEEPING (OF COURSE THEY USE ANOTHER VERB) WITH A BABY, THAT IN CASE YOU ARE NOT CLEAR THEY TELL YOU SEVERAL TIMES, I AM GLAD NOT TO NORMALIZE THOSE THINGS AND MANY OTHERS WHEN I HEAR THEM.REALLY IMPRESSED OF WHAT MAKES PEOPLE LAUGH.I DID NOT LEAVE IN THE INTERMISSION THINKING THAT ALL THAT PURPOSEFULNESS HAD TO MAKE SOME SENSE AND I THOUGHT IT WOULD GIVE IT TO THE SECOND PART.
SCREENWRITERS, MAKE CHANGES, THERE ARE THINGS THAT TO HEAR AND LAUGH YOU HAVE TO HAVE ELEPHANT SKIN, I THINK THEY SHOULD RAISE WITH SMART HUMOR AND NOT ENCOURAGE EASY LAUGHTER BASED ON BARBARITIES.
