About the operator

- N2210RVterrir0 contributionsOutstanding Experience with New York Historical ToursOn a recent trip to NYC, we had the great pleasure of touring the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn with Kevin. As someone who has had the opportunity to work with more than a few guides, I can say without qualification that Kevin is top of the line - extremely knowledgable and overflowing with interesting anecdotes served up with a witty sense of humor. Kevin deftly walked the very fine line between responding to group interests while keeping us moving through the tour. Can't wait to learn about more of the city with Kevin on a future visit.Written August 19, 2024
- Dream1845070 contributionsThe best tour guide! It was fabulous! Our guide was so knowledgeable! He showed us so much history. I was intrigued for hours by his stories and pictures. I think meeting out front of Plaza hotel is better than a statue. Cab driver had a difficult time navigating the address. Traffic made us later than expected but our guide called and found us searching for statue. Cabbie didn’t know where it was. Loved the architecture!Written August 17, 2024

- R8716VXoliviab0 contributionsA New York Slice......of HistoryKevin Draper of New York Historical Tours provided an incredibly informative and interesting tour (Alexander Hamilton & The Founding Fathers Tour) in the Financial District. Kevin was so engaging and knowledgeable. His narration was just excellent, so much that even someone who isn't a history buff would come away a convert! A great way to see and hear about the incredible history that lies in our presence, do yourself a favor and book a tour with KevinWritten June 9, 2024

- V7157KZdianej0 contributionsGilded AgeThis is the 2nd tour with owner, Kevin Draper. We did the Gilded Age starting from the Plaza and ending at the Cooper Hewitt Museum. The 2 hours flew by and we learned so much about the city that we live in. Kevin has an unbelievable amount of knowledge and is so enthusiastic about sharing. We will continue to use his company for all of our future tours, which we will be scheduling. A++++ experience. Diane JohnsonWritten May 13, 2024
- px640 contributionsAn excellent customized private tourAlthough not the cheapest of activities, the private tour was really great because first of all, if one is running a couple minutes late, the tour guide isn't going to leave. Second, we could sneak into The Plaza for a quick bathroom break and intro to the age without anybody noticing. And Third, the tour is easily customized to our interests. There is a great deal of material one could cover on a Gilded Age tour, so it's wonderful to have the tour guide zero in on exactly what you want to get out of the tour and provide that information to you in a well thought-out manner.Written May 9, 2024
- richardkG1842XW0 contributionsExcellent, eloquent and friendly review with deep sense of historyOur guide Sara was excellent: well-informed, articulate, humorous, patient and friendly. - U5357WIcarolynw0 contributionsLove, love, love this tour, and all for that matter! Our group has taken countless tours with Kevin of New York Historical Tours, and, like all of them, this one did not disappoint. I hadn't been to the museum since my children were young and forgot about all the amazing exhibits. My appetite has only been whetted to go back and see more! Kevin always makes everything interesting and provides so much behind the scenes information and history! I highly recommend this tour and any of the others! Greatly enjoyed our private tour of the Met with Kevin Draper. He was knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic, and made our first-time visit to the museum truly enjoyable.
I would note that the tour is geared more towards showing you pieces in the museum that you might not otherwise see when you're fixated on the Rembrandts and the Van Goghs but are incredibly interesting in their own right (e.g. the Faberge eggs that I'm sure we never would have seen on our own). It might not be what a hardcore art enthusiast is looking for, but it's perfect for the general public, especially anyone traveling as a family or group with diverse interests (like we were - parents with teens).
Highly recommended.

We took a tour with Kevin and it was phenomenal. The tour was not only about the art, but brought the pieces to life through the history of the artists/creators, and the often arduous journey that the artwork took to be on display. He was able to hit the highlights and also take us to the less traveled parts of the met. Very special experience. We took another tour with him…as exceptional.

My mother and I had a wonderful time with Kevin as he guided us through some of the lesser known facts and features of the Met. While my mom has been to the Met numerous times over the years, she learned a great deal of new information on this tour. Kevin was funny, engaging and extremely knowledgeable about the Met and NYC history in general.

A NYC trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the Met, but to be honest, we almost skipped it. We tend to lean towards attending sporting events, broadway shows, shopping, etc.
But now, we see the Met differently after our tour with Kevin!! He was a fabulous tour guide, the absolute best! We signed up for a private 2 hour tour and at first glance, the Met appeared overwhelming - too many things to look at and so crowded. My 16 yr old son and I joked with Kevin when we first met and asked for an even more condensed, ultra quick tour, lol
BUT Kevin made the tour way too good! His stories and insider information/details were so interesting, we both found ourselves wanting to stay and learn even more! He was so knowledgeable - we couldn’t have asked for a more enjoyable afternoon. It turned out to be one of the top highlights of our trip!
Highly recommend Kevin and his tours - we plan to sign up for another and probably would not visit the Met again without him - he has 10 different tours
for the Met alone and his Gilded Age tour sounds amazing!
