- Karen P00A must do in NYCSuch a fun adventure! Def could’ve done the longer tour! Next time! We saw Brooklyn bridge, Ellis island, Statue of Liberty, etc. Our tour guide was amazing! She was so kind and took amazing pictures of me and my daughter as we stopped at each landmark. Definitely recommending this to everyone!
- U1080KTanna00Thrilling boat ride round Lower ManhattanLoved this boat ride! Eric was so friendly and gave a great commentary. The boat ride itself was absolutely thrilling, it was fast and so much fun! We went past Battery Park, the helicopter port, Brooklyn Bridge, Governors Island, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The view of Lower Manhattan was stunning. We felt safe yet it was very adventurous. Thank you!
- stepheno99800The coolest way to see lady Liberty! The team at New York Media Boats is super talented, knowledgeable, and passionate about their work. Our family felt safe and comfortable throughout the entire experience and all of the staff we interacted with offered helpful information about the city and our surroundings. We are coming back for a longer tour next time!
- mimir57900Best rib boat experience ever!My friends and I have been on other such rides but this was by far the best! Captain Sherry was so sweet and was very interesting. The experience was amazing! We lived every minute of it! We’re definitely doing it again!
- P9666RXmollyg00Great tripWas an amazing perspective of the city! Boat was great, felt really safe, had unobstructed views on nearly the entire island. Unlike any boat tour I’ve been on in Msnhattan
- islandbody00A Must!Fun and informative, the NY Media Boat team goes out of their way to make sure a good time is had by all! We will return for the one hour adventure during our next visit. Thank you for a great experience!
- OnAir79321400Awesome sight seeing o the river - A must do!We did the 30 min RIB and it was absolutely Fantastic! Sherry was a brilliant captain and stopped for photos and commentary along the way. It was just The Best experience and definitely the activity we'd recommend to anyone in NYC! We thought the RIB on the Thames, in London was good but this was flippin' AWESOME!! A must do! If we could give more than 5 🌟 we would! ❤️
- Flyer4029805734200One of the Highlights of our tripOne of the highlights of out trip. It felt like a private tour (us, family of 5, and another group of 3). Crew was very nice. Probably should have done the 1 hour long one.
- johannc74400Highlight of our tripOur family all agrees that this tour was the highlight of our New York trip. The boat driver was extremely friendly and got quite a few laughs out of our kids (and us). He also did a great job informing us about all the sights we did, in between high speed escapades across the waters of New York. Lastly, the views we had of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty were even better than we expected. It was a great mixture of thrills, great sights with perfect views, and appreciation for the beautiful city and we are so glad we did it.
- lottieb88200So happy we booked!Highlight of our trip. Sherry was super knowledgable and made the experience extra special! Wouldn’t hesitate to book again!
- JenMomofFour00Perfect way to see the Statue of Liberty and all the sights without the crowds!Got to see all the sights without the crowds. Great for our family with 4 kids, youngest was 7 and oldest was 14. Took great photos in front of Statue of Liberty and the Bridges. Great experience. Weather was nice so that helped!!
- James L00Just do the Media Boat Tour!Amazing trip, super friendly crew, a totally thrilling ride, and an amazing perspective on the island of Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge, etc. One of the best things we have done so far in New York - thoroughly recommend it :)
- ch_uip_5700What a way to explore the landmarks! This was a super fun and a nice alternative way to explore the city. Our captain, Shawn, was the beat! He was super knowledgeable and always telling us something fun. When we where looking at the Financial District, visualizing how the city has changed Shawn saw to incoming helicopters. He conveniently positioned our boat near the helipad and they flew right over us. It was amazing! The boat was super fast and I loved hitting the waves. Will definitely be back for a longer tour.
- marciaknutson00AMAZING!We rented the private boat for just our family of 4. Our guide was excellent, very knowledgable, kind and safe. I highly recommend this experience. It was soo cool!!! You see everything on the water up close and personal. It is quick, easy and private! I 100% recommend this company! It was one of my familys favorite activities while in NYC!
- W3164FBrubenc00Great experience! Our boat captain was super fun and knowledgable. It was the best experience I had while visiting New York!

Strongly recommended. Ride had a few fun bumps but was mostly smooth and completely dry-not one splash. We took the $99 experience which packed a lot of amazing sights in, narrated by a heck of a knowledgable and friendly guy, and a skilled helmsman. Do it.

Great, fun experience. Team was extremely flexible in moving reservation because of potential rain during scheduled trip. As soon as our guide, Eric, throttled the engine, the biggest smile appeared on my son’s face. This tour was the highlight of our day. Learned some interesting facts and had the opportunity to take dome great pictures. Not only was it fun to feel the speed and breeze on your face, there were moments when the boat came to a rest and it was very peaceful looking at the sites.

We have a 14yo Swedish exchange student with us for a month and she was desperate to see all of NYC. This was such a fantastic way to fit many sites in in a mere 90 minutes. Sean, our guide, was so great. At times he stopped the boat to give quick explanations, provide tidbits on historical significance or pop culture. We had an up close, great photo-taking experience out on the water. I Loved it. And our student hasn’t stopped talking about how fun it was to see “everything” from the water!

We went on the New York Media Boat yesterday and had a great and informative ride with Captain Joel. The last time we were on it was 2017. We were entertaining someone visiting NYC for a day and when trying to think of things to do and see, this boat ride was high on the list.
The views of the city and all the sites on the water are stellar. On the boat, you just zoom right up to the Statue of Liberty (as just one example) and float there for a few minutes while you take all the selfies, family shots, and statue photos you want with the statue filling up the background in the images. Captain Joel provides lots of history and interesting tidbits about everything you see.
The view from the East River just north of the Brooklyn Bridge facing the city is amazing. You definitely want a family photo there!
As we were nearing the end of our ride, America II (an America's Cup racing sailboat) happened to sail by so I got a great photo of it with lower Manhattan in the background.
The boat ride itself is also really fun and Joel is very skilled handling it safely, and at the same time it's an exciting "adventure ride" as you zip around Manhattan. We all enjoyed ourselves and the person we were showing around NYC loved it.

Our tour with Joel was amazing, he was an exceptional tour guide and we learned so much about the city that we had never heard before. The boat was awesome, so fast and the shockwave seats were like riding on a magic carpet. We'll be back and will bring our kids too! Thanks Joel for the incredible experience!!!

This boat tour was the highlight of my NYC birthday trip! Captain Sean was fantastic. We raced up the west side of Manhattan with periodic pauses for captain Sean to point out landmarks. We then came back down the east side of Jersey, went around the nyc battery, stopped under the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridge, went around governors island, and then finished with a close ride next to the Statue of Liberty.
I wish I could rate this experience and company 100 stars. The email they send perfectly explains how to find them, what to wear, and other helpful pieces information to be ready. The boat isn't big which means you will have an intimate tour and the ride itself was very smooth. Do yourself a favor, book with This company!

Spent a hot and humid weekend in Manhattan with family (incl. 2 teenage boys), and this boat ride was the absolute highlight of the trip — it was completely glorious to be out on the water and going fast. When you’re in the city and walking or driving everywhere, you lose sight of the scale of it. Being on the water provided amazing perspective and spectacular panoramic views. Shawn, our captain, was super friendly and knowledgeable, sharing inside scoop and fun facts about the known (and not-so-known) landmarks. The whole family loved it, and left grinning from ear to ear. Highly recommend!

Great morning out on the Hudson. Patrick our guide was informative, friendly and responsive. It was a fun experience whilst at the same time being educative. The seats had built in shock absorbers which made the bouncing about on the ways comfortable I would highly recommend this company.

hello, a very good welcome and a very nice ride. a point of improvement, speaking little English and the noise not helping to hear well, it lacks an audio guide or a brochure to take full advantage of the explanations in another language. French in my case. best wishes

Thank you for joining our tour! You did book a tour that is described as being narrated in English, but we hope you still had a fun time aboard! We hope to incorporate some sort of translation service in the future.

Hi! would this boat ride be suitable for elders? (age 70ish) in terms of getting in and out, is it safe for elders, if the person is able to walk and manage on their own.

It's a little hard to get on the seats (if in the 6 seater boat). The seats are like getting on a motorcycle, they are 2 side by side and 6 total on the boat we had. Once your on they are fine, getting off is a little difficult. The captain is very helpful. May want to see which boat you would get??? Not sure if the bigger boat seats are same. But it was a great experience.

Myself and my family of 5 are arriving in December, is it best to wait to book because of weather restrictions?
PaddeAmsterdam
Amsterdam, The Netherlands44 contributions
I would definitely advice you to wait until you're there. In december it can be cold and windy and to my judgement it would not be fun to be on the open boat flying 30-40mph over the water :-).

I don't usually get sick on boats unless they rock back and forth a lot while sitting still. Choppy and fast doesn't bother me, but one time when I went snorkeling and the boat that took us out just rocked back and forth from it's own wake I got sick. Should I be concerned about that on this tour as well?

Hi Lee,
Our boats don’t tend to roll much, as we move at a good speed. We make brief stops to provide narration and give everyone a chance to take nice photos but don’t sit around very long.
I really don’t think you need to worry about it — we’ve never had anyone get seasick on the boats. You could take Dramamine 24hrs before coming aboard to be extra sure, but I doubt that’s necessary. The morning tours tend to be calmest in terms of waves.
We hope to welcome you aboard!

Is it a speedboat, or does it move more slowly?
Moss
6 contributions
Yes it is a speedboat - a navy style rib from memory which gives it great stability. My twelve year olds were thrilled with the ride up front. If you want a little less thrill the seats closer to the driver are more sedate.
Hello - this sounds great but how do young kids (4 yr olds) tend to do?
bxk
New York City, NY9 contributions
Hello,
We generally recommend 5 years and older. Our seats are jockey-style pod seats and it’s best if your legs reach the floor for stability. The seat height is about 20 inches (60cm). We often welcome families with children aboard and they always have a super fun time. Some of our boats have different seating arrangements and one boat has taller seats. The boats we usually run also have a bench by the captain that you’re welcome to sit on in case your child doesn’t like the pod seats.
Feel free to give us a call (number online and not allowed to be posted here...) and we will note in our booking system that you have a younger kid we’ll assign the most suitable boat.
We hope to welcome you aboard!
