      Never a gain, thief!
We (2 parents and 2 boys) rented 4 bikes. 1 female bike. That bike gave problems during the 1 hour rental. When we came back we told the girl but she could not do anything. So we called for the manager. Instead of showing some compassion (didnt want to see the piece of video on my phone, he reffered to the small letters on the recite pffffff who reads that. There is mentioned that you can call them and they bring a new bike. Worthless answer for an hour rental, so you have to wait till somebody comes.... Instead of giving back 11 dollars (normally 18 on the flyer) but you can bargain with them he said he could not do anything. I asked him why the message with the small letters are not mentioned at th moment you rent the bike or why there isnt a text in the company. I would never recommend this company.

Great way to see the whole park, beware the hills!
Rented four bicycles for two adults and two teenagers. We rocked up around two in the afternoon and in 25° . Asked for two baskets to help hold hoodies and water for everyone. It was a great day and a fabulous way to spend a few hours. We managed the whole way round. Be warned there are hills and the electric bikes fly by but I would recommend this to anyone that can do it. The lady in the booth explained everything and the staff had bikes ready for us in minutes. Deposit back on returning the bikes. Loved it, thank you

      Avoid!
Really poor system of managing rentals and completely disinterested staff makes this an AVOID. We rented 3 electric bikes for two hours. When we arrived they only had one electric bike in stock. We had to have two scooters instead, these are MUCH less gentle to ride and are not a fun experience at all. Look elsewhere to get bikes.

      Awful service, ok cycling
Poor service by badly trained and disgruntled staff. Queues out of the door for returns and hires and no clear system. Understaffed and rude servers who clearly hated being there. Chaotic and badly managed. When eventually got the bikes, there was no clear instruction of where to go, or how to use. Staff needed to explain one way system round the park and in the road! Bikes were ok. Experience once at the park was fine. Recommend you go with different company.

I am writing this review as I have tried to contact the shop via two separate e mail addresses info@bikerentalcentralpark.com and support@bikerentalcentralpark.com with my 12 digit ID Ticket number in the hope to resolve this privately but I have had no response in almost a week so do not feel I have any alternative but to let people know about my family’s experience which was terrible. Firstly, at the beginning of the tour the guide who I believe was called Sergio swore in front of my children using the “F” word which is totally inappropriate. He didn’t seem to care about this and carried on swearing which was in relation to his ex-wife. He then asked where we were from and I when told him the UK, he said nobody likes the Brits (seems funny you like our money though). He then tried to retract this and said people hate the French and Argentinians. What sort of comments are these and got to do with a bike tour around Central Park? Whilst riding around Central Park, he rode off on his electric scooter and depending on where you were, you could not hear what he was saying which for a guided tour is pretty useless. Finally, to top it off, when we returned to the shop, my daughter started to drink an energy drink. He then started to offer his condescending opinion about energy drinks to my daughter about how bad they are for your health and this from a man who smokes! I neither asked for his unrelated opinion nor welcomed it. Against all my better judgement, I even gave this disgusting, self-opinionated narcissistic person a tip to which he didn’t even have the common courtesy to thank me. The information on the guided tour was pathetic too. I got more information on a 30-minute horse and carriage ride than a two-hour bike tour. We also did not receive a bike helmet which is stated on the website which I regard as a health and safety violation. I did not address these issues at the time due to embarrassment and upsetting my wife and children who do not like confrontation. It’s your choice and I’m never one to complain, but I would seriously think very hard about using this company. The staff in the shop look like they are being forced to work there against their will, the interaction and customer service is that bad.

DO NOT RENT from Bike Rental New York.
DO NOT RENT bikes with this company. We booked online this afternoon and arrived at the shop to pick up the bikes and were met with three unfriendly, unhelpful and inattentive assistants. It was as if we were a nuisance even though we were the only people in the shop at the time. Minimal communication. There was no free helmet, lock or map offered as per the tickets. I had to ask specifically for a map. There was no explanation of how to operate the gears on the bike or the brakes. The bikes themselves were not the best.

      Good bike rentals
Easy to rent the bikes, bikes are good. We did a 2 hour rental and did have to rush to get the bikes back on time and only saw half of the park. If you want a leisurely cycle around the whole of the park I would recommend at least 3 hours.

Great way to see the park!
My friends and I rented e-scooters and had so much fun exploring Central Park. It was a fast and easy way to get around and we enjoyed it very much!

Choose another place to rent your bike
The location & price are positive aspects of this rental place but that's the only positive aspects we can come up with. The quality of the bikes is very poor and the bikes are definitely not (well) maintained. You don't need a carbon $10.000 bike to ride in Central Park but at least one that runs as it should be. The bike is one thing but the way you are treated coming in or when you ask your pasport back is NY city unworthy. We visited a lot of places in NY and everywhere you get a nice welcome, here they give you the impression you're a nuisance . I'm sure there are better places then this one to spend your money.

BEWARE! THE BAD REVIEWS ARE TRUE! SHADY TOURIST TRAP!
So we tried this place out and NOT going to recommend it! There are so many other bike companies in the area so don't put up with the bad customer service. Unfortunately they will stay in business just because tourist come and go. Kayla was our check in rep was an idiot and her answer to EVERYTHING was I don't know. It was a hard time reserving and we should have just gotten out of there. Luckily for us the e bikes we got were decent and worked well. Only reason we gave them a 2 star is because the bike worked well. We rented for 4 hours and did everything we wanted too. BEWARE they charge a deposit of $200.00 which we were ok with because it's just a deposit. They wanted to hold onto our driver's license which we said no incase we need to show ID while riding. They would not take any other form even though we other government issue IDs. What would they do if someone doesn't drive so they don't have drivers license? Then Kayla wanted to keep our credit card. What happens if you travel with just one credit card? Management should really look in to this. Shady as hell! Has to be a huge liability for them to want to hold onto someone's credit card! We only did it because I could cancel it if any fraudulent activity happens. I read the other reviews and Jen, you don't need my authorization code to correct the poor customer service Kayla provided. She needs to be retrained. She acted like she didn't even want to be there. If you took a deposit, why do you need to hold on to an ID and or credit card. Liabilities and not sure that's legal!

      Beware the cancellation policy
I booked the Brooklyn bike tour and because it looked like it was going to rain the day before I called to ask whether I should cancel in advance. I was told that there was no need to cancel; I could use the credit at any time in the next year. The next day it was raining cats and dogs and so I called as a courtesy and canceled. Fast forward five days, I called to see whether I could use my credit for a tour that weekend and I was told it would cost me an additional $40 registration fee. When I called to complain that I hadn't been told about any such fee they told me it would cost me an additional $20 registration fee. When I continued to object they told me I could use my credit minus a $20 deduction. Clearly the staff has not been given consistent instructions, and the cancellation policy is not clear. Just a word to the wise.

Terrible customer service, full refund not given
We “reserved” 1 scooter, 1 bike, and 1 e-bike on August 4th for August 5th. Despite the website claiming reservations were “guaranteed,” we showed up on the morning of 8/5 and there were no E-bikes. We were told they did not have any that were charged. So the e-bike SUPPOSEDLY was taken off of our reservation leaving us with just the 1 scooter, and 1 regular bike. This also meant 1 adult in our party had to find a bike to rent outside the park at Citibike, which was a much better option anyway. We also reserved a basket that we were not given and had to go back for. We were also not given the helmets we requested at the time of booking. Somehow when they gave us the receipt back after dropping off the bike and scooter, they changed it so that it appeared we had checked out the e-bike and the scooter. This was not the case. I now have no way to prove that we actually rented 1 regular bike and scooter and not the e-bike. I was refunded for a regular bike instead of the e-bike. I have emailed the company and spike to Emma several times for a refund and have not gotten any response. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. The salesman on the street are pushy and rude and the girl checking us in for our reservation did not care that they could not honor our reservation. Do yourself a favor and rent from the many citibike locations outside the perimeter of the park. It’s cheaper and you won’t waste rental time having to get the bikes from central park rental to and from the park. Citibike is easy, fast, and cheap.

Bikes are quite used/outdated, but ok to do a small tour in Central Park
Good, close location to Central Park. Nevertheless the bikes are quite used, not really maintained, changing gears is almost impossible. You only get a helmet if you ask for it.

Excellent Tour! My daughter's favorite NYC experience!
My 10 year-old daughter and I had the pleasure of joining the 10am Saturday August 5th, 2023 Central Park bike tour. Our experience was wonderful. Our guide was professional yet funny, knowledgeable, and always checked up on everyone in the group to make sure that everyone was enjoying themselves and safe. For those looking into this tour, note that you are not always on the bike. The guide makes stops and you have a chance to get off the bike and walk around and enjoy a diversity of sites within the park. It was fun to do this with other participants in the tour -- in our group there were really nice people form Italy, Brazil, and other parts of the US. We strongly recommend the tour. It is not at all strenuous although be advised that specially on a sunny Saturday morning, the park is super busy and it can be a little overwhelming at first navigating the crowd of runners and other bikers along the park's road. Fortunately, our guide knew how to direct us and keep us safe while enjoying the tour.
