- Pam G0 contributionsVery interesting Central Park history and modern times changesThis is a very good tour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the park's history and changes that are being consiedered for the future. He had a good knowledge about New York City. He was very considerate to those who were having some trouble with the walking (thers is some uphill/downhill) on this tour. I definitely want to come back & do this again with my husband.Written September 9, 2019

- thomaswB8642EW0 contributionsInteresting tour of Central ParkI have lived in New York City for 28 years and have been in Central Park often - but I learned a few new things and saw the park from a different perspective. Fred Pflanzter, our tour guide, did a great job conveying his enthusiasm for the Park. A very good way to spend a couple of hours - highly recommended.Written July 5, 2019
- pam1070 contributionsWonderful TourMy friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the Central Park Secrets Walking Tour. Fred was very informative, but not overwhelming with too much information. It was a perfect tour with perfect weather. I highly recommend this tour. Afterward Fred went out of his way to give us info on local restaurants and walked with us most of the way. I felt his love for the park and his tour reflects that love!Written June 12, 2019
- Tx917910 contributionsIt Was OkExpected to see more of the park. Though the part toured was cool to see, it was only a small piece of the northern tip.Written June 6, 2019
- lookingatthesights0 contributionsan excellent tour, with a marriage propsal to boot!Fred was an excellent and engaging host, leading my wife and daughter and son in law along with another couple on an informative and enjoyable stroll around the north woods of Central Park. As we discovered the third of 3 waterfalls in that section of the Park, we came across a guitarist and a lady with some professional cameras. I asked if this was the stage for a music video, and she replied, no a marriage proposal. Moments later, a young man and his bride to be walked over to look at the waterfall, he bent the knee and proposed. You can't say you see that every day! I have already given his information to a few other people who expressed an interest in going!Written May 30, 2019
- OnAir4031280 contributionsCentral Park Secrets Walking TourGrowing up in New York City and visiting Center Park many many many times, this tour took me to places that I have never been. Fred is an experienced guide he was able to explain birds, flowers and a lot of history of the park. There's very little flat terrain on this tour. Fred waited for less abled members of the tour. Arrive early as suggested. The tour begins when everyone's there and leaves on time.Written May 28, 2019

The tour guide was very nice and knowledgeable, but we could hardly hear him at the back of the bus. The Christmas lights were somewhat disappointing. I’m not sure if the neighborhood isn’t participating like they used too, but the lights were not worth 4 hours out of my trip. Just look at my pics instead, and you will see the majority of the good houses. There is way too much other stuff to do NYC!

Hi,
I'm sorry you were disappointed. I'm not sure when you took the tour, but the lights in Dyker Heights are fully ablaze. More houses are lit than ever before. I'm sorry they did not meet your expectations.

I’ve wanted to do this tour for ages so when we booked our dream trip to NYC from the UK, this was a must on the list. It did not disappoint.
We were picked up and greeted by the lovely Ray. He was amazing, so knowledgeable and funny telling us everything he knows, it was a lot!
Once at Dyker Heights, Ray takes you around some of the best decorated houses you’ll ever see whilst constantly giving you Information. He showed an interest in his guests, where they were from etc. That was really nice. The houses blow you away. Some really get into the festive period. We came on the 1st December so not everyone had decorated but it was an incredible experience. I highly recommended this tour and trip. We’ll definitely do it again when we come back.

The tour was awesome! Tito our driver took great care navigating the city and safely getting us to our destination in Brooklyn. Our tour guide, Dave, was very knowledgeable and provided interesting facts and stories about all the areas we pasted through on our way to Dyker Heights. It was a full bus but Dave made it easy to stay together as we walked the neighborhoods to see the beautiful lights! There were food and drink trucks throughout as we enjoyed ice cream and hot chocolate on a chilly night. Overall a very fun experience!

Thank you. I'm glad you appreciated the team of Tito and Dave. They are fantastic. It was a perfect night to see the lights of DH. Not too cold, with crystal clear skies. Your safety and enjoyment are our primary concerns.

We were very disappointed with the whole experience. When we got on the bus the tour guide said that Dyker Heights wasn’t at “full burst” yet…that was an understatement…hardly any houses were decorated and we were very underwhelmed. Why offer the tour in November then?! Felt like a tourist trap. We also felt like the guide didn’t provide very much interesting info..very scripted and boring. Definitely not worth the money.

We were underwhelmed. Our guide just read off of his tablet and it was a lot of frivolous information. It was hard to see the sites as we whizzed by in the bus. The whole tour was hard to follow if you did not know NYC and what to look for.
It was fun to see the houses and wish we could have just walked it on our own.
The bus driver did not seem to know where he was going.

This is a misplaced review. Our guides do not read from tablets, nor do we remain on the bus. On our tour, we walk for an hour in DH.

Fred knows a lot about New York and he is good at sharing his knowledge, history and stories. He grew up in NYC and has an interesting story (or three) about every neighborhood. Street, building, bridge, park, etc

JA is an excellent tour guide, consider yourself very lucky if you get him on this tour! So much knowledge, very engaging and passionate about New York. Bus driver Jesse managed to navigate us all skilfully and smoothly through crazy holiday traffic. Dyker heights is a truly unique experience and finishing up at the Rockefeller tree caps off an all around excellent tour.

JA was a wonderful guide. I highly recommend this trip to Dyker Heights. The lights were beautiful and JA provided a lot of information in an entertaining manner. The group size was perfect and the bus was very nice. Tito, our driver, worked miracles in the traffic. We loved the stop on the way back to Manhattan to take pictures of the NYC lights.

This tour was so much more than was described in the listing and worth more than was charged. It was a thorough tour and history of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Our guide, Ray, was entertaining and knowledgeable. The Dyker Heights lighted houses was fabulous. I highly recommend this tour. Small group was nice too.

Thank you very much. We don't like to brag, but as you said, "the tour is much more than described." Ray is an excellent guide, and I'm glad you enjoyed his commentary. We can't always guarantee a small crowd, but the ride will always be fun and interesting.

Can we end the tour in Brooklyn rather than going back to Manhattan? Is there any opportunity to stop for food or beverage during the tour?
Written November 30, 2018
You probably can stay in Brooklyn. We really didn't have an opportunity to stop for food. There were some small food trucks, but I think it was just popcorn.
