Overview
Tacos, dumplings, bagels — America would be a food wasteland without the dishes brought here by immigrants. Join this 3-hour New York City walking tour to sample the best ethnic foods in the Lower East Side. But this experience includes much more than sampling delicious foods, as you’ll learn about the history of the dishes, establishments, sites and people along the way from your guide. The group remains small to ensure a quality experience.
Highlights
  • Lower East Side food traces history of this neighborhood through cuisine
  • Stop by hidden gems you may not find on your own
  • Listen as your guide sheds light on the rich ethnic history of the neighborhood
  • Small group for personal attention from your guide and easy passage
  • All tastings included, so make sure to arrive on an empty stomach
What to Expect
Meet your guide and small group at City Hall Park. From there, you'll embark on a walking tour covering the Lower East Side's culinary culture and food scene, with your guide expounding on the neighborhood’s rich immigrant roots.
Begin with a stroopwafel (Dutch syrup waffle), while learning about the island of Manhattan's Dutch heritage. Move on to knishes from a Jewish bakery and fresh mozzarella in Little Italy.
The day's last stop is Chinatown, where you'll taste soup dumplings before parting with your group at Grand and Chrystie Streets.

Our guide walked too fast and didn’t allow adequate time for questions. I thought the food was just ok.

We met across from the Starbucks, in front of the statue with a lot of flowers at its base. Good luck and have fun!
