Exceptional host and brilliant food choices! This was our first food tour and after lots of research we were so pleased to book with Ahoy! Patrick our host was so welcoming and had great insights into the area. The selection of places to visit was brilliant and the day was made extra special with the owner of the final restaurant taking time to share stories of Little Italy with us. Would highly recommend as a great way to explore the area. My husband and I had a great morning!

My wife and I really enjoyed this food tour! Zoe did a great job sharing the history of the area, culinary tidbits from Chinese and Italian culture, and making the best of the rainy day. The food was diverse, plentiful, and unique to the area. We also LOVED chatting and laughing with the other folks on the tour—honestly, the social aspect of the tour was just as good as the food! Not too much walking, plenty of restroom breaks, good opportunities for photos, and plenty of interesting information without it ever getting overwhelming. Overall, a worthwhile 3 hours in the lower east side!

Hi Ben V, Thank you for your kind review. So happy that you enjoyed your guide Zoe, the food and history. We agree the other tour guests make the experience too! Glad you made some friends along the way. Hope to see you soon and hopefully on a dry day :)

This was my second time taking a food tour in NYC and this one was fantastic! It was really helpful to get myself oriented to the neighborhoods where Chinatown and Little Italy were located and to know where some of the good restaurants were and what to get there. All the food on the tour was delicious and I appreciated that the tour guide either had the food pre-paid and ready when we got to a location or she bought it and brought it out very quickly. This tour was a lot less walking than the food tour that I had taken previously. The only change I would make would be slightly less dialogue about the neighborhoods/restaurant/food/history so that the tour would be a bit faster-paced!

Not what we expected. Food was okay, and they did feed you more than enough! What we really struggled with was the guide, Zoe, she didn’t really engage with anyone on the tour. She was extremely knowledgeable, but even when she spoke, her voice was quiet and she didn’t look at anyone. She looked off into the distance. After quickly explaining things that most couldn’t hear, she then would just get on her phone. I believe most others felt the same as no one talked much and most looked bored. I’ve been on many food tours and this was the worst. Not worth the money. I’d encourage you to look for another company.

Hi Scenic13060712224, Thank you for submitting your review. We are extremely apologetic about your tour experience-- as you can see from previous reviews on this site, this is NOT how we operate our tours. We have guides that treat our tour participants like friends and family-- we want everyone to have a wonderful time. We aim to get to know our guests during the 3 hours. Most of our guests become friendly not only with our guides, but the other tour goers. We are VERY sorry that this was not your experience. We have reached out and left you a voice mail and a text message--we do hope we can connect and make things right.

Enjoyed our walking tour of Chinatown and Little Italy. Zoie did a great job of sharing information on the history of the two immigrant groups in NYC, the struggles they endured over the years, the progress they have made, and insight into how they have integrated into life in America while maintaining aspects of their culture and background. AND the authentic food samples were delicious.

What a fun experience, and what a perfect way to explore a quintessential NYC neighborhood. Two of us had been to New York several times, and two of us had never been, and all of us got so much out of the tour: the stories, the history, the cultures, and the food! Zoe was fantastic, and really gave us the context and background of the neighborhoods and food purveyors so that we could appreciate how it was all woven together with the history of the city. Highly recommend.

Hi Marci D, Thank you for leaving us a great review. It's awesome to hear that experienced visitors and "non-experienced" visitors both enjoyed the tour! You have eloquently written our tour goal to weave history and cuisine together-- we are glad that our goal was met! Please come back and see us again soon.

I was on the tour with my adult daughter. The experience was good and I did really enjoy it. We tasted some good food and our guide was knowledgeable and pleasant. There was a variety of food. For some reason we did not stop at the Nom Wah tea parlor - not sure why. My main complaint is that it was not good value for money. $125 for this tour is too much. If the same tour had cost $50 or $60 I would have given four or five stars.

Hi Rahul S, Thank you for your review. We are happy to read that you enjoyed the tour and the food and your guide. Unfortunately Nom Wah Tea Parlor is a very popular spot and cannot accommodate tour groups for seated service. We will take your feedback into account. Regarding the value of the tour, our site sells the tickets for $105 if you purchase directly through us. We find that most guests find great value in the tour as stated in past reviews. We are sorry to read that you do not agree. The tour cost covers 8 tastings, one of which paired with tea, another paired with a glass of wine or beer. The value of the tour also includes the knowledgeable guide and their service provided throughout the 3 hour tour. Thank you again for your feedback.

Our tour guide, Zoey, was friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the areas We got great tips for future visits. We really enjoyed the variety of foods we got to sample. My personal favorite was the eggplant rollatini at Benito One in Little Italy followed by potstickers in Chinatown. It’s a great walking tour- not too far for folks who are limited and an interesting walk for those that are not. Would recommend this tour for people interested in knowing more about Chinatown and Little Italy and getting a taste of both!
