On a cold sunny March Sunday afternoon we headed to NYC Central Park for the Bike Tour.
After collecting our Bikes from W58th Street and our Guide Filip we headed to Central Park.
Best 2 hours on cycling & walking through an amazing Park. So much history and sights that you could miss if not for your Guide.
Everything in and around Central Park, Filip knew it.
The Strawberry Fields Tribute to John Lennon is a MUST see.

This is a great way to see the park. Walking this route would take all day. Dan did a good job of shepherding our group. He wore a bright yellow shirt so we could always spot him and he kept checking back and circling back to make sure we were all accounted for.
He really knows the city and seems to enjoy sharing it with newcomers. A plus - at the end I felt that I had a handle on NYC bike etiquette. Thanks!

A slightly delayed review but what a great personalised experience this was. Michelle, our guide, rode with us, who were the only guests in this tour, through Central Park at night in what I'm convinced is one of the most fun ways to see an iconic part of New York. Michelle was patient and friendly as she allowed us to set the pace for the ride, while explaining the history and stories of the most important sights along the route. At just about an hour, this was the perfect amount of time to get some exercise in the outdoors, while seeing a new attraction and learning so much.I highly recommend signing up for this as a chance to see one of the greatest cities in the world with new eyes.

Although I think the park is easily explored by bike, I didn't feel like the tour guide offered any added value. We left the location 15 minutes after the start time and at two of our stops we were given 15 minutes to ourselves to wander around. That means that little over half of the time was actually spent on the tour itself. There were two 'guides' but only one was leading the tour and the other was often distracting with strange comments and jokes. Next time, I would just rent bikes and ride around the park without the guide.

Joseph was our tour guide and he was the BEST!! He is a local NY'er and shared so many great details about the park. We road as a family, with kids ages 13 and 10. For my son, the 10 year old, this was the highlight of his NYC trip! We saw the memorial to John Lennon and the Alice In Wonderland statue...we also got an incredible history of how the park has changed over time. If you are looking for a fun and educational way to see Central Park, do this tour! (And ask for Joseph - he was really great!)

Blake from Bike and Roll NYC was amazing as he guided us effortlessly through Central Park. Blake has thorough knowledge on the history of NYC, and in particular, the park. Blake was very attentive and ensured our safety throughout the bike tour. Thanks mate. We had a great time.

Firstly, when you book this tour through tripadvisor, you are not provided the full information (like where you meet) that you need, so you have to contact the company. Not the company's fault, tripadvisor needs to fix. Also, note that it is a 48 hour, not 24 hour cancellation notice, if you need to do so.

It clearly states in the description that the "small-group tour" consists of 15 people. We had 18 people and I'm sure three less would not have made a difference because it felt like a large group. When I think of small, I think of less than ten. We were at the back of our group the majority of the time, so who knows what our guide was saying. We could really only hear him when we made a stop.

We booked the afternoon tour, which got started by 2pm by the time everyone filled out paperwork and got fitted for their bikes. Our tour guide was the self-proclaimed "Best tour guide with a stutter." If a severe stutter is going to prevent you from enjoying the tour, then I suggest you make sure to check before you make your reservation. He was very nice and informative when we could hear him. The whole tour lasted about 2.5 hours. I would definitely recommend biking Central Park. It is the quickest and most efficient way to make your way through the Park.

I took the Bike and Roll's guided Central Park tour, which was included in my Sightseeing Pass. Their online reservation system for Sightseeing Pass holders was broken at the time, so I was told to just come by before the tour. I assume others have been affected by this as well, at least that would explain why we ended up with quite a large group.

There were more than 20 people in our group, which just seemed like too many: Someone would always be stopped by a traffic light or just take more time. Also, listening to the guide can get hard with so many people and bikes around them. In the end, the tour took about 40 minutes longer than the expected two hours.

Our guide, a middle-aged gentleman, kind of made up for that with good explanations. I wouldn't recommend against the tour, but you should be aware that a guided bike tour means going at the group's pace, being considerate of slower group members and waiting for them. This is especially true if the group gets larger.

Travelling with my elderly mother, I called the company the day before the planned tour to see if see they offered ladies bikes or only unisex. I could not reach the office so took the call-back option but no one called back. Against my better judgement, I called again the next morning and asked if they had ladies bikes. The operator said no one had asked for ladies bikes in years and did not know if they had them or not. We booked anyways and when we reached the location, were relieved to see they had ample styles of bikes including ladies. We specifically chose this company because they offered small-group tours (up to 10?). We were supposed to leave at 1:45 but were kept waiting until 2 pm while newcomers continued to join our group, finally numbering..I counted 19..hardly a small group that we had signed up for. The leader Joseph had voice problems and being in a large group in a noisy city, you couldn’t hear him 75% of the time. They needed a leader with a louder voice or a microphone system for him and of course a smaller group would have helped. There were frequent stops where he would go on endlessly with facts that anyone could pull from Wikipedia or Google so we learned little when we could hear him. The ride itself was pleasant although sometimes challenging due to the numerous slopes and inclines. I had no problem, but my elderly parents who are in excellent health, and casual bike riders started to struggle in the heat with all the inclines and slopes. Eventually it became a crisis and I reached out to the company’s support person trailing the group for options of ending the tour early for myself and my parents. He advised that it was not possible. I explained the situation with my parents and that we needed a solution. He then said that he needed to check with Joseph the leader but could not reach him as by now we had lost sight of the group and he seemed not to have a radio or cellphone to contact him with. By now another 15 minutes had passed and I was becoming very concerned with the health of my parents as I pushed them on. I finally said that either he could help us end early or we would abandon the bikes right there and get a cab. He then found a way to contact someone and proceeded to lead us out of the park and was quite pleasant and helpful after that. It took a long time to get back, circling around the perimeter of the park and not 5 minutes after we returned, the main group returned as well so I’m not sure if the route we were led on to leave early was really the best choice. When we returned, the office staff did not ask about how my parents were or inquire about our experience but instead said…you can leave a gratuity for Joseph with me. I had been very very concerned about the health of my parents at one point and the readiness of the company to provide assistance and support for them but it seemed not to concern them.
I understand that my experience was out of the ordinary but any company can excel when there are no challenges. It is their readiness for and how well they handle an unexpected challenge that really shows how good of an organization they are and this one is lacking.
I will not recommend this tour or this company and there is lots of competition out there so look around!

The bike tour was our teenage son's favorite part of our NYC vacation. Blake and his female tour companion were excellent tour guides. It was a great way to see a large part of this huge park.
