Good experience. A big city with huge venues. Everything was right, except heat and flavor. 89 F is not easy, smells not good inside the subway. But it's real life! Wordwilde people walking side by side on the sidewalk.

    Charlie is awesome!!
Charlie was great at teaching us to be New Yorkers and getting us in front of all the artifacts, paintings and important areas of the Met. Great information and funny even at times. Thanks for taking pics for us and thanks for the crocodile story Charlie! 😂

    Nice experience
The MET itself is really iconic and definitely worth the trip. Loved the rooftop and cocktails. The highlights tour takes you through specific sections (not sure if this is based on the specific tour guide's expertise or the tour itself). We did Egyptian, Greek, American and Impressionist. Wish I saw more cultural sections like Asian, African, Native American. The tour guide was very friendly and encouraging.

    First time at Met
The Met was amazing. Guide was knowledgeable and had good stories about the artwork. He was able to get us through a number of paintings and gave us some free time on important exhibits to look around on our own.

    Just okay
I’d been wanting to do this tour for a long time, but it was a little disappointing. There was some interesting information shared, but a lot of it I already knew. Advertising claimed we would see the tennis court, but on the tour we were told it was only open to members, so we couldn’t even see it. The tour guide talked a lot about himself which took away from GCT info. Many jokes were corny, and one of my friends left halfway though, so that shows you that it wasn’t entirely engaging.

    This museum is amazing.
Superb. We booked online for the private tour, which misses the queues. The tour guide, Kevin was brilliant. We didn’t see any queues, but for peace of mind it was worth paying extra. The Museum is amazing. Very worth while seeing. It’s very emotional, sometimes overwhelming, but very informative. Be prepared to see upsetting things, it’s not a happy museum as you would expect, but the experience is second to none. If you visit New York, this museum has to be top of your list of places to see. I cannot recommend it enough.

An authentic and very interesting guide tour with Rob C
Rob C has a wide-ranging knowledge of the catastrophic day and beyond. He is very authentic in his way of passing on the knowledge. It was touching, in the right places he loosened up the atmosphere with funny anecdotes. He is very friendly and has a great way of telling the story. I can only recommend taking a tour with Rob. It was awesome, thank you so much.

I love guided tours! I have taken a guided tour on the Statue of Liberty Ellis island once before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Post Covid changes now apparently make it so tour guides are not allowed in any of the interior buildings (at least that is what our guide told us). So - because we paid extra for a guided tour we were not allowed up into the statue (the guide took us on our first trip). Also - this required us to be outside in the wind and rain to listen to any of the facts. Guide was knowledgeable but not very compelling and being forced to stand in very inclement weather rather that being inside the warm space at Ellis Island makes the extra money spent a huge waste.
I would recommend just buying the ticket and doing the self-guided for this one.

Dear lmcferren, Thank you for reviewing our tour. We rely on our guests's experience to always improve, so we are always grateful to receive constructive criticism. First of all, we are terribly sorry we did not meet your expectations, especially since you had such a great time on your previous visit that you decided to book again. Unfortunately the guide is right, they are not allowed inside the buildings any longer, so they do all the explanations prior to entering. They should however choose a comfortable spot, especially if the weather is not great, and provide the necessary background to fully enjoy the tour. We are terribly sorry this was not the case and will make sure to address this with the guide to make sure it does not happen again. We work very hard to ensure the success of our services and feel terrible when something goes wrong. We hope you had a wonderful time in New York and that if you ever find yourself visiting any other location we serve, you will give us another try. Sincerely,

Our first visit to New York, we needed a “grounding”. Rob the tour guide gave this and so much more. From the outset giving clear guidance on what to expect and how to “behave” for an efficient walk in a busy environment. As the walk progressed Rob was giving nonstop facts and anecdotes in regards to the Statue it’s history and construction and Ellis Island too. He placed the historical facts in a personal perspective which added much color to the tour. Can highly recommend this early tour so as to get ahead of the rush (it’s still busy of course) and get the best views of both attractions. We enjoyed the whole experience immensely.

Awesome seeing Lady Liberty up close. Our tour guide Danyiel was very entertaining and knew lots of the history. Definitely wear comfortable shoes and be ready to climb LOTS of steps. A little disappointed about not having enough time at Ellis Island. Apparently the tour guides are not allowed at Ellis Island Museum anymore. Danyiel did go over a lot from the outside but would've like him showing us around.

We wish we could tour on Ellis Island, too! Until the day we can, we will continue to do our best providing as much information as we can from the outside. Thank you so much for your kind review; we are glad that your time with Daniyel was well spent!

Cherie, our tour guide, was outstanding. Cherie went above and beyond to provide a meaningful experience for each and every one of the people in our tour group. She prioritized our time with her and made sure to give us all the details of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. She took photos of all of the families on our tour and gave us recommendations on where to go in the museums and just for NYC in general. This tour was amazing, I learned a lot and will never forget the experience Cherie gave my family and I!

Today I learned that anyone can be a tour guide. We ended up with a very outgoing actor today, with about 15% of the information we would expect from a NYC tour guide. Late to both ferry’s which gave us limited time at both sites. Even given the time I don’t think this guide would have even been able to share significant facts about the islands without the iPad. My recommendation is to book your ferry rides and download a facts sheet from the web.

Dear Kristin S, Thank you for reaching out to us about your experience on our Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island tour. We work very hard to select only the best professionals available and are sorry to hear you did not find your guide to be knowledgeable and worth the cost of the tour. In regards to some of them being actors as well, we don't see the problem with that, as it gives them better story telling skills. That said, they are all certified tour guides who have passed the NY guide exam (otherwise they could not be allowed to lead the tours) and acting is a side job for them. We also encourage all our staff to use the iPad as it 's a great visual tool for historical pictures. Again, we are terribly sorry you were not satisfied with the service, and would like to receive further details about the guide to help us identify him/her so we can address your comments personally, so please feel free to contact us at feedback@walks.org with any further detail you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you. Kind regards,

This is not true! You will not be the first on the island statue of Liberty and certainly not on Ellis Island.
By the time we went on the other side, there were other groups that had reached there before us. Once we reached statue of liberty, we felt the tour was rushed, we were given 45mins on the island. No time to take pictures, or to walk through the rooms. We departed the ferry to head to Ellis Island, the tour guide forgot to tell us where to meet, he had started the little tour talk with the people already on the other side by the time we found them. Not worth the extra pennies to get there before everyone else because you wont! Id recommend for the tour guide to give people more time on the statue of liberty island, not so rushed and also to clearly give instructions on meeting points, not sure how someone would start his talks knowing that a group had not joined the team.

Alfaro, our guide, was super great all around-he knew the tips to keep our group moving from the security check at front to when you move down to get off the ferry. His history of both sites was just perfect! Not too much and not too little. I wanted to spend more time but my teens weren’t that interested so I’m super thankful for Alfaro and all he knew to highlight!!

Rob (ROBC10) was the best tour historian we ever had! He gave everyone a chance to be a part of the total experience by integrating our different backgrounds, ethnicities, and life lessons to help us feel apart of the story of The Statue of Liberty and immigration to America. No one was left out! I could the passion Rob had for the precious history that most Americans don't fully know. He was ver respectful of the diversity in the tour group and made opportunities for older less able members to rest and have assistance with wheelchairs. Rob introduced us to the NPS gentleman who climbs up the arm of the Statue of Liberty and changes the lights. He is the only person who does this (for all Americans) and will be retiring soon. Such an honor to meet him! Overall, I could not have found a better way to spend the day beside being here and learning to love America all over again. Rob, Neal and Robert from Savannah, Georgia thank you kind Sir and wish you the best!

Rob was excellent! Made the whole experience come to life before our eyes. My kids 8,10,13 enjoyed- it was a little long for the 8 year old but still doable. Rob did a great job engaging us. Fyi- tour took about 3 hours before we starting touring Ellis island museum on our own.

Rob was our tour guide and he was fantastic! Not only was he super knowledgeable, but he was funny, engaging, anecdotal, and inclusive- and really good with the young kids that were in our tour group. The tour exceeded my high expectations. My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. And as a side note, Rob offered to take pics of everyone in the group in front of the Statue of Liberty, and his photographer skills were 100%!
