Based on the title my family booked this tour. We have done Pizza tours of NYC so assumed this tour would be similar as in walking around hearing about the history and visiting different bagel shops. Ben was great but our assumption was wrong. Not sure why he has the word Bagel (food tour) in the title. If you aren't looking for the history of the bagel but the history of Grand Central this is the tour for you. Pam C

Our first organised tour in NYC and loved it. Ben's encyclopaedic knowledge of the station and its history was fantastic! And the bagel was lovely too - so much so we visited the same bagel store the following day for breakfast!

The tour was great. First we walked around Herald Square. I’d been there so many times, but had never heard the history of this little area of NYC. Then we learned the history of bagels. The best part was learning to roll the bagels. Ben the tour guide was great. Highly recommend it to bagel lovers and their friends.

Complete scam. Didn’t make bagels or even have really anything to do with bagels. Walked around midtown for an hour and then went to the back of the kitchen at ess a bagel where everyone was trying to work to watch a man roll out dough. Do not waste your money.

To be honest, this was more ‘walk’ around and hear about Macy’s and other landmarks than anything else. We met at a bagel store and ended at a bagel store with 30 minutes cramped into a corner of back kitchen watching someone else make them, with walking around the streets being asked questions that clearly we did not really care about or know the answer to in between. I was lucky enough eventually to be one of 4 who got to roll some dough but I am no closer to making bagels myself than when I started. Over priced and over rated IMO.

This was a cool tour. We came in expecting it to be about bagels, but it was more about the immigrant-filled history of the LES, old-time establishments and how they've stayed float. Ben was very knowledgable about the history of New York City.

Growing up in the New York suburbs, living in Connecticut, working in NYC for a while, I have been in Grand Central Terminal countless times. This 90 minute tour was jam-packed with information I had never considered as part of the 700,000 people passing through the Terminal every day. Ben Wagenberg of Ben's Bagel Tours provided history, insights, cool facts and figures, all with the humorous edge of a true New Yorker. I have recommended it to numerous friends already. Our family is looking forward to joining Ben again for his tour of the East Side. Not to be missed!

I took this tour with my sister and it was phenomenal! Ben was full of knowledge, both about bagels and the surrounding area. The highlight was that we were able to roll our own bagels and take them home to bake!

Ben combines the history of the area around Ess-a-Bagel - Herald Square, Macy's, the original Gimbels building, Greeley square, Penn Station, Madison Square Garden - with a great experience at Ess-a-bagel, not only learning the process of making bagels, but learning the history of the bagel. And nothing better than ending the tour with a fresh bagel topped with cream cheese, lox, and onion.

Great tour of the Herald Square area followed by a unique and educational tour of Ess-a-Bagel store. Behind the scenes view of the preparation and cooking of an authentic bagel with a delicious sandwich as a satisfying ending. Perfect for tourists wanting a little taste of NY or locals looking for a fun outing.

This is so fun, for the family and fascinating as a participant! Delicious and engrossing, if you think you know something about bagels, well forget it, Ben knows everything about bagels and ties it into NYC and history in a really interesting way. It's a human and compelling look at the bagel over time, and the people creating the food - then until now. Really GREAT! Met some lovely new friends, lots of foodies, and SAW HOW THEY MAKE BAGELS! The process is fascinating - and it's really an art. Essa bagels are incredible.

Highly recommend this tour to get both history of the city and a birds eye view of how to make bagels. It is amazing how we live in a city and know so little about its history. Spending Saturday afternoon with Ben gave us fascinating details on the midtown area and an appreciation of the city I live in. Ben's knowledge and delivery of the information was great. The history and making of the bagels was fascinating. The tour was topped off with the delight of eating bagels with a host of delectable food choices.

What a fun way to spend time with friends and family. Learning the history of the Herald Square, Macy’s department store and the New York Tribune was informative and just a creative way to walk around. After the walking tour, we went to Ess-a-Bagel and learned how bagels are made. They called on people from our group to roll bagels. I was selected and it was fun!! After watching the baking process we enjoyed a fabulous lunch at Ess-a-Bagel. Nothing better than a hot, crusty bagel!! Strongly suggest! Kids will love it too.

Ben was a great guide, passionate about his home area. We loved all the stops into the different shops, markets and cafes with all their history explained along the way.
