So pleased I booked this tour and delighted with Nicola (male) who was our guide for the 3-4 hours. From circumnavigating queues to top tips for getting ready to disembark through to his personal passion the trip was so much better. Small group and felt as though we were all absorbed in his stories and knowledge of the locations. Ferry was on time and great views and topped off with Nicola offering to take a picture of the 2 of us rather than another selfie with half the image missing! Good value and highly recommend to do it with a guide as you totally get a better understanding of the history of the 2 locations. Thank you Nicola-top 5 stars from Us.

This was a great tour of New York's most iconic site! Overall, I think it is definitely worth the money for a guide for Lady Liberty and Ellis Island, there is so much history that it is hard to get from a guide book or fixed installations. Our guide, Chris Tipp, was knowledgable and engaging, made sure we were in the right place at the right time to be at the front of every queue and turned out to be a pretty good photographer as well.

The only drawback is that we only had around half an hour in the museum on the Statue of Liberty when we could have done with maybe an hour and a half, but that would have extended the tour. You can have longer in the Ellis Island Museum which was a lot larger than I expected, so allow tine for that.

This was a fantastic tour = our guide Liz was great. She was very helpful and made sure that we kept regrouping during each section of the tour so that we did not miss the ferry and/or so she could share all of the interesting facts about both Liberty and Ellis Island. I loved her enthusiasm and the fact she took a group photo and shared it with all of us. The only thing I would recommend for future visitors is that if it is a little chilly on land take a hat, gloves and a scarf because when you are the water it is a lot cooler and to get the best views you should go to the top. Also, there are not a lot of tables at the cafeteria on Liberty Island - there are tables outside, but if there is inclement weather you may want to wait until you get to Ellis Island or back to the city to grab some grub. Thank you to Trip Advisor and Liz for a memorable NY experience.

Owen was a fabulous tour guide. He was informative in a clear and concise way and answered any and all questions. Owen was also very funny and he kept our attention. The tour moved at a good pace and we felt we had enough time to do everything we wanted. This tour was well worth the money and I would recommend it to anyone who hasn’t been to Liberty or Ellis island, or just wants to learn more!

Buyer beware! There is no 9:00 Ferry to the island. Your departure is actually 9:30. There is no such thing as skip the lines, this is a misleading statement. It is not possible to skip the security check line or the line to the bot. You will stand in line no matter what. The only line you skip is the line to purchase your ticket which didn’t exist when we went. Just purchase your ticket ahead of time. Standard adult ticket for about $25 includes Ferry ride, entry to Liberty Island, access to monument and museum, Ferry to Ellis Island with access to museum, Ferry back to mainland. Our guide, Daniel, was a nice chap, but we only booked this tour because it said we were guaranteed to skip the lines and would leave at 9:00, neither of which were true. My opinion is you’re better off not taking a tour and just going on your own. It’s much less expensive and you are in control of your time and can move around at your leisure.

Hello, we're sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. We take this feedback seriously and while we always aim to clarify what to expect with our guests - that the tour starts with an introduction before taking the ferry and that we have tickets pre-purchased for all guests - we can do better at communicating this. Thank you for your feedback - we would like to make this situation right and would appreciate you reaching out to us at info@exp1.com. Thank you!

Emmeline was a wonderful tour guide - efficient, knowledgeable and have just enough information without being overwhelming. I didn’t know if a tour would be worth it but so glad we booked it, I really enjoyed seeing the statue and learning about the background. Such an amazing first morning in NYC!

Obviously the statue is very cool and Ellis Island is well worth the visit but the thing they mage tour great was Nicola, the tour guide.

He was interesting and engaging, full of information - he does his own research into the sites so is not just reciting generic notes. He is a useful person to know in the boat as well, finding the best spots to stand for the views and to disembark quickly.

He was incredibly popular with other guides, they didn't seem to mind when he would interrupt their tours to make them laugh and remind them to tip! One guide even joined the end of our tour once here was done!

One thing to bear in mind is that guides aren't allowed into the building on Ellis island so make sure you factor in time to go round the buildings before getting the ferry back to the mainland.

This was a very informative tour, Chris Triebel was great....a little longwinded at time, but I guess we were free to move along if we wanted to. He certainly knows his history and all there is to know about Lady Liberty. The tour is scheduled for 4 hours and he used all 4 hours. I probably would do Ellis Island on our own...the ferry rides are covered in the tour, so you can join at your leisure when you are ready.

We purchased tickets via CityPASS for a number of venues. When we arrived at the port, slightly ahead of the allocated time, staff directed us to an airport security check and verified the CityPASS's for tickets.
The process was slick and efficiently carried out, a credit to the staff/security for the national monument.

The boat ride to the monument and Ellis Island is memorable. The views of the monument from the boat and from the island, were amazing. Exhibits within the museum giving an insight to the history and construction of the statue. Also seeing actual piece damaged and replaced from the statue torch were incredible.

We really enjoyed being on “Team James” today. Despite some weather issues he kept everyone entertained and informed about the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. He’s a great tour guide who knows a lot about the city. I would highly recommend James for any tour with this company.
