- 405PAULK0 contributionsPre-book the CrownVisited the statue of liberty and Pre -booked the Crown and i am glad we did as you have zero chance of going up to it if you do not book it a few months in advance. I have previously visited and seen her but only from a boat sailing past . Actually getting off on the island and seeing the place properly was so much better and i think with the entry to the crown it ended up cheaper that what i have paid just for a trip past it on previous visits to New York . I booked it three months before and it was just 27 dollars each which is great value for money . The cafe there is also much cheaper than anywhere in Manhattan which was surprising . My advice is as follows Make sure you are fit if you are going to make the climb up the very slim spiral staircase to the crown (and take your coat off as you will get hot ) There are around four little bits on the way up where you can stop off and catch your breath . To get to the staircase there are 200 steps to get to the top of the pedestal to start the climb but there is an elevator , only 4 people at a time so i decided to walk up as there was a queue . Its shockingly small and i was underwhelmed when i got up there buy hey its a once in a lifetime experience and i can say i have done it . Another tip is even if you pre-book you still have to go and get your wristband and ticket from the ticket office there , dont make the mistake of going to join the queue before getting it . I chose to go in the morning and not at a busy period of the year and the boat was still full up so bear that in mind when planning your trip Hope this review helps some people out .Written December 11, 2024

Had a wonderful, informative and funny afternoon with Evan on the Greenwich tour. He was very informative ,interesting and funny that kept the tour on a high and the vast amount of information kept everyone on a high.
We walked quite a way but because of the how Evan ensured the interest was high it only seemed a short time.
Would advise everyone to take up this trip.

Although we are former New Yorkers who still spend a lot of time in NYC, we hadn't been in the Village for a while and so signed up for this walking tour on a beautiful day. Our friendly guide was Chris Tipp, who shared his love for the City and did a great job of guiding us through an almost two hour walk around some of the most famous parts of the Village. Chris was an excellent story teller and we really enjoyed the tour, and would recommend it to others.

We had Steve as our tour guide for the Greenwich walking tour. He was insightful, knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the Greenwich area, which he has lived in for most of his life and where he met his wife, who he very sadly lost recently.
He showed us round all the local music venues and clubs that he has managed and attended over his life, as well as some very interesting history lessons of Greenwich, particularly around Washington Square Park where protests/rallies are held, as well as some amazing recommendations on Pizza places!
Overall, i would recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for an intimate insight into both the history and current to day to day lives of Greenwich residents, and hats off to Steve who was an amazing tour guide and really touched both myself and my Fiancé with his passion and storytelling. 5/5!

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I'm glad you and your fiance got so much out of Steve's tour. It sounds like he taught you a lot about the area and history. I'll be sure to let Steve know how much his tour meant to you.

It was a true privilege to have Steve as our tour guide. Having lived in the village for more than 40 years, his insights are unique and backed up by first hand experience living and working in the area. He also knows the history and can provide interesting facts and stories that allow tourists to grasp the evolution of the village and more broadly the city. Highly recommend Steve for this tour!

My wife and I were visiting NYC for our wedding anniversary and booked this walking tour as were big music fans and love creative culture. Steve was our local guide and was fantastic! His stories about his life in Greenwich Village were amazing and his conversational style was engaging and fascinating! He’s been in the music industry for years and so he knows the inside stories that other guides may not. The tour covered everything that we’d read about and were considering touring ourselves, but we’re so glad that we chose to do the tour instead. Don’t look anywhere else, just hit the streets with Steve!

This was our family’s second time in NYC and we loved doing walking tours last time, so we knew we wanted to do more this time. It is the absolute best way to get to know specific parts of a city, its stories and history. I had only heard of Greenwich Village and thought it would be good to get to know it a bit. I figured it would be an interesting time and my family would learn some things we wouldn’t have otherwise known. What I didn’t know was how incredible our tour guide would be. Steve is a Greenwich Village local and knows SO MUCH about it. He has actually lived here for 40 years, so his perspective on this fascinating area is full of passion, insight, love and care. He has such interesting stories to tell. I found myself hanging on to every word. He used to manage a Jazz Club here and his wife was a teacher here, so his roots are very deep. He truly cares about Greenwich Village, and you leave with some of his passion. He is also funny and kind, and did so well with my 11 year old son. We had a large group, but he was amazing bringing us all together into a family for 2 hours. It was quite something to experience. Not many people can do that, and it isn’t something you can necessarily teach. He just has a natural and special way of bringing people together from all over the world and providing an incredible experience filled with stories, history, and insight, and which also happens to be touching and meaningful. I cannot recommend Steve and his Greenwich Village tour enough. Book it.

Our tour with Steve was nothing short of superb. He was welcoming, attentive, inclusive and so incredibly knowledgeable. He obviously adores the neighbourhood he has lived in most of his life and conveyed such joy and wonder in his delivery it made us all want to come and live there too. He even made time to give us some pearls of wisdom in life which were beautiful and heart warming.
It was also wonderful to see how much of a local celebrity he is as so many locals stop to talk to him but he quickly reminded them that he was working and could not stop to engage too long.
Overall the best tour guide I have ever experienced and I only hope that he is valued in his work as much as we valued him on the tour. Truly fabulous all round.

I went to Kevin L.’s tour of the West Village and found it fascinating. Kevin did an amazing job keeping us moving to see all that the Village has to offer. He was knowledgeable about all facets of NYC history/architecture, which added to the tour immensely. 10/10 would recommend Kevin and his tour to anyone interested in learning more about Greenwich Village. Thank you!
