A highly memorable, poignant and educational experience
Definitely the most memorable and poignant part of our trip to NYC. Our guide was the photographer, Gary Suson, which gave a unique insight into the 9/11 tragedy and subsequent aftermath. The tour was pitched perfectly for our children aged 10 & 12 with a very insightful and succinct audio tour. To be able to hold actual ground zero artefacts was both a unique and thought provoking experience.

      Very emotional experience!
It is a very personal experience, very different from the usual museums. It was difficult to control my own emotions, tears ran down my face several times. I highly recommend this workshop!

Emotional, unique and personal account of the recovery efforts at Ground Zero - educational and impressive for all ages!
What a special, unique and intimate experience! We took our 9 year old son who we had talked to about the events of this day. Visiting this workshop put faces, personalities and names to the facts - not only for our son, but also for us. The pictures, artifacts and first-hand account of the only photographer who was allowed at the site puts the spotlight on the recovery efforts and the brave men and women who put their own lives in danger (and made the ultimate sacrifice years after their work at Ground Zero) to give the families of the victims some form of peace. Several stories stuck in my head and forever changed me. We got to meet Gary Suson in person and are amazed by his passion and commitment to sharing the things he saw, experienced and which undoubtedly stay with him until this day. The stories he shares through the self-guided audio tour by telling them himself are full of emotion and left an impact on all of us. Thank you Gary, we really appreciate your time and effort to make this experience as personal as it gets.

      super experience
9/11 Museum Workshop was so unlike any museum experience I’ve had. I have been to many museums in Amsterdam and Paris however this museum falls into its own category. You have to go there and experience it to fully understand. However, I walked away feeling as though I had experienced what it was like to work at the world trade center after the September 11 attacks. The audio guide narration by the official Photographer is so heartfelt, along with the sound effects, that I could truly feel the emotions of being there. I am happy I was given the recommendation to visit here. I will carry this experience, the sights sounds and stories for the rest of my life.

      Speechless
La visita al Workshop nos mostró una visión del 11S que no teníamos, muchísimo más humana, más real… nos dejó sin palabras. The visit to the Workshop showed us a vision of 9/11 that we did not have, much more humane, more real... it left us speechless.

      Just WOW
I have been dreaming about visiting NYC my whole life, and especially I have been dreaming about visiting Ground zero and the 9/11 museum. I have been so fascinated by the event since I was a little girl. I mostly wanted to visit a more “intimate” museum with smaller artifacts. Therefore I was so sad when I found out the tribute museum closed down. So when I coincidentally found the website of the 9/11 workshop I booked it immediately. We got to get the tour by the owner and photogropher begynd the photos Gary. And the experienced exceeded all expectations. It was absolutely incredible. So so so many small fantastic artifacts and amazing photohraphs and stories told by Gary. This visit was of the biggest experiences of my life. Thank you Gary. Mia & Andreas

      Highlight of my NYC visit
Visiting the 9/11 workshop museum was a highlight of my trip to NYC. Gary’s stories and photographs brought the devastation and grief in the aftermath of 9/11 to life in such an honoring way to the first responders and also the victims and their families. His workshop carry’s the raw emotion and legacy of this devastating attack on our country and helps people ,like me, get a taste of what many experienced in the days and months following of 9/11. Don’t let the small size of the museum fool you. There is a lot of material, artifacts and stories to see. I spent 2 hours there! It was an honor to meet Gary while at the museum with his warm welcome and friendly demeanor.

      Humbling Experience
Gary Suson has brought together a collection of images and artifacts from 9/11 that leave you speechless. He narrates from his own personal experience and was hands on during our tour. A solemn reminder of how fragile life can be. It’s a must!

Not a boring museum, this was an experience! Thought provoking, educational and great for our kids
We had the opportunity to talk directly to the Workshops' founder, Gary Suson. At the time, we were in New York City for a 5 day trip and we had seen already a lot of the major sites. We had planned a special day for 9/11. We didn’t know was that his Workshop was closed Sunday-Tuesday, and we expected we would have to miss it. Instead, he returned our call and invited us to come over and set up a personalized tour with one other family. We jumped at the chance. I did voice my concerns about the content for our kids, who are 4, 6 and 10 yrs old. Gary reassured us that no jarring audio or graphic images would be presented that might upset them. His content primarily chronicled the experiences, artifacts and memories of the rescue teams who searched for months (through all kind of conditions) for survivors or their remains. It was so unique as Gary told his story of being there, taking photographs and working alongside so many brave people. The kids were very attentive in good part because there are so many ways to learn – an audiovisual introduction, an interpersonal conversation and a kinesthetic opportunity. That’s right – Mr. Suson allows you to touch or hold several artifacts, including rare window glass or metal from the building’s support beams. Frankly, you won’t have that opportunity at the 9/11 exhibit! He graciously answered questions and gave us plenty of time to have a meaningful and personal experience amongst his collection. And he’s a darn good photographer, too.

This is our second visit to the 9/11 Museum Workshop Tour. I would highly recommend it. It is such a moving and emotional experience. It is a self guided tour as you listen to the description of the photos and artifacts from 9/11 and the ground zero recovery effort. You hear personal stories and learn of the heroic efforts made by the men and women working at the site. It was once again my number one thing I wanted to do while visiting NYC.

Brilliant museum, very interesting with a focus on the aftermath of 9/11. Very sensitively handled for a very emotional subject. You get to go around at your own pace with an audio guide so you can relisten to anything you may have missed, and sit and absorb the impact of the day and the aftermath. Very glad I went, Thank you Gary and team.

It's so difficult to describe how utterly amazing our visit was 'Wow!' just doesn't seem enough!
I planned a surprise trip to NYC for my Firefighter husband John, who retires this year after nearly 30 years of service in the UK. I desperately wanted to take him here, but it didn't seem likely due to the seasonal times. That was until my savior intervened.
Gary allowed us to visit on a closed day and I will be forever grateful, as this absolutely made our trip. His wealth of first-hand knowledge and experience about the disaster is unsurmountable, and his years of dedication in creating and maintaining the museum are truly an inspiration.
As for the museum itself.. your senses go into overdrive as you watch, listen, and feel genuine artifacts, radio messages, and photos taken within hours of the disaster.
Although it was well over twenty years ago, here, you feel like it's yesterday; such is the emotion it generates.
It is utterly mind-blowing to hold a piece of a blown-out window, a cross that was handmade for bereaved families from metalwork that was once the building's structure, and even a piece of fuselage from one of the planes... I could go on!
We have treasured memories, and the visit is something that neither of us will ever, ever forget.
Make this a priority if you're visiting New York... I promise you won't be disappointed.
Thank you, Gary, for the enormous dedication and devotion that you have in keeping these memories alive.

This is my & my husband's forth visit to the workshop. When each of our kids turns 13 we bring them to NYC and this museum is always first on the list of stops to make. This collection is heartfelt, personal and impactful! There are other places we could take our children to remember what happened on 911. But, no other place can show you how the city and the country came together to rebuild hearts and hope.

I'm so glad I made the time to visit the 9/11 Museum Workshop. Gary Suson was a young photographer at the time of the tragic events and he was given access to record the recovery efforts in the months that followed. Gary has many of these photographs and some artefacts on display in a studio room in Manhattan, and visitors are given a headset to listen to him narrate the stories of recovery. It's all extremely well put together and my experience at this Museum will stay with me for a long time.
