- Happiness6771992917700Not whale watching, just dolphin watchingAfter boarding 90 minutes after they say to arrive (and don’t pay for priority boarding as everyone just moves about) the trip was ok but no whales to be seen…should be called dolphin watching ! They just go out and hope they find something…5 sightings in 2 weeks (about 70 trips!). Given the odds and how expensive this is I would give it a miss !! There is also parking there even though their website says no parking. Enjoyed the dolphins though ……
- brianwT6562NS00AwesomeVery awesome trip. Got to see a blue whale among other sea creatures. Crew were very knowledgeable and respectful of all passengers needs. Highly recommended Side note: spend the money on priority boarding, but save your money on the binoculars rental. The captain gets you close enough to see with your eyes.
- john v00Fantastic whale watching tripCrew was excellent; very attentive and always checking if anything was needed. We were fortunate to see 2 type of whales, and 2 types of dolphins (saw about 100 and they put on quite the display). Consider bringing your own drinks and snacks.
- PaulnSueW00Excellent! Well worth a visitWe are from the UK and were travelling in the US. We booked this tour online before our arrival in San Diego, so weren't too sure what to expect. We went on the 9am sailing on the 1 July 2023. The trip was truly amazing, the staff were all very friendly and very informative and the boat was spotlessly clean. Now for the 1% club, we were fortunate enough to see 6 seperate Blue Whales, some on more than one dive. 7 large pods of common long nose dolphins, some bottle nose dolphins, harbour seals, Sea lions and lots of different species of birds. Thank you ever so much and who knows, one day we may have the opportunity to visit you again.
- JERMAIN M00RecommendEven though we didn’t get to see any whales it was a great experience to see all those dolphins. Staff was great and very friendly.
- cassiej63400We Had the Best Time!Clean boat. Professional crew. Knowledgeable and passionate marine biologist. Wanted to see a Blue Whale… we did! Also saw Bottle Nose Dolphin and Common Dolphin.
- lisamW9162UY00Very DisappointedBeware of booking and paying in advance. If your flight is canceled, they will take your money and you will not receive the services. This is so sad as some things are out of our control. At least work with someone that is fair.
- ATraveler7825900Highlight of our San Diego TripWow! Exceeded expectations. We saw many blue whales, a few sea lions, and hundreds of dolphins. Booked at the last minute and so glad we did. The crew was amazing and helpful and the captain did a great job positioning the boat so everyone on board had good vantage points. The picture package was worth the $20 too. The boat isn't huge so if the waves are rolling, you will feel it. Super fun..unless you're prone to seasickness. (I would advise if you get at all motion sick or just aren't sure..take a dramamine if the water is anything but completely calm). The boat had snacks, drinks, restrooms, and some shady areas to sit if you've had enough of the sun. Highlight of our San Diego trip.
- charlenecI4283WP00I FINALLY SEE THE WHALES!After so many times of disappointing whale waiting, whale flashing and whale disappearing, I finally SEE multiple blue whales in this trip! It's exciting to see a pair comes to the surface to change breath and blow water spout! We then run into a huge school of dolphins! So wonderful to see dolphin mother flipping through water with their calves!
- sheilal16500Lots of positives!Sea was smooth and we got to see several blue whales along with a large and a small pod of dolphins. I’ve been many times…San Diego, Ventura, Maui and Canada…and saw different kinds of whales each time, so a good addition to my portfolio of sightings. I took my grandkids June 15th for their first whale watching excursion. It is the memory of a lifetime. Loved our naturalist who is reminded us that today was Sea Lion Day.
- heatherhN3003QV00Totally worth it!!!So amazing!! Followed a Blue Whale for several breathing cycles. The amount of information the guide knew was also great. Crew was very nice.
- Dom64homl00Best boat trip everWe Love doing a boat trip when our holiday, and this one was by far and away the best.Very reasonably priced for 3 hours, with a fantastic crew, who were very knowledgeable ,professional and loved what they were doing.Saw loads of dolphins, flying fish, sea lions, and to top it all 4 Blue Whales. What a great afternoon. Would thoroughly recommend this trip.
- DilemmaBailey00Great Whale Tour!Awesome tour! We saw probably around 100-150 dolphins that made a quick turn to the boat to play in the wake! We also saw 12 blue whale with some whale tail action! The crew was very friendly and they made sure everyone was okay during the trip. The captain and the naturalist worked together to find the dolphins and whales. We were very, very satisfied with our trip!!
- Amber K00So many whales!Went for the 12:30 ride mid-June. Weather was perfect and we saw so many blue whales. Had a great time. Thank you!
- Liz Arnold H00The trip of a lifetime!Knowledgeable crew, clean boat, lots of fun! I loved hearing the oceanographer explaining what we were seeing. The professional photography available was stunning. We didn’t see whales but we saw lots of dolphins, including a newborn with its mom, swimming right up with the boat, the trip of a lifetime. I’d go out with these guys again in a heartbeat. They did give out 50% off coupons for the next trip, since we didn’t see whales. Great outfit.

Should provide disposable raincoats for guests so we could enjoy the tour more. Otherwise, nature already took care of the good time we spent on the boat. Kudos to the guide who helped keep us informed and entertained.

I went as a solo tourist to see the dolphins and whales. The weather was great and we saw an amazing sunset! It was a fun and beautiful trip! We didn’t see whales but we tracked several hundred dolphin! It was chilly and choppy at times. Wouldn’t recommend for small children or babies and be prepared if you get sea sick. Dress warm! Guides were super friendly and knowledgeable also!

My family and I had a great time. The crew was very knowledgeable. We saw hundreds of dolphins, 2 humpback whales and 1 gray whale. The crew was able to spot the wildlife from far away and took chase to help us get a good look which added a level of excitement. The snack bar had minimal snack options but the cocktails were good and the hot chocolate hit the spot in the cold weather. Prices were reasonable. The seats on the top deck were a little cold and uncomfortable, but it wasn't a big deal. Overall the trip was a great experience, and it ended with a lovely sunset as we prepared to end at the dock.

This was our second whale-watching trip with this company, and both times the experience has been outstanding. The marine biologist guide kept a close eye for signs of whales and dolphins and was both informative and entertaining when we encountered both. Trips with this company are now a must-do any time we’re in San diego.

Despite the weather being chilly and not kind enough to provide a sunset, the trip itself was wonderful. Thank you to the dolphins for joining us out in the ocean to make the trip worthwhile. Our naturalist talked to us about what we might see and then our captain helped stay with the dolphins for a long while. It was a great trip. Give it a try!

Our boat in March was clearly oversold- crowded. Our small group of 4 had to split up and sitting was not ideal. There aren't enough "hand holds" to hold onto and it was very choppy that day. It was too crowded to move once you were set, so if there was something to see on opposite side of ship forget moving to get over there. The Highlight was seeing 100's of dolphins skeedaddle out of bay when False Killer Whales came in- great to witness that! The crew was helpful, guide informative.

Absolutely phenomenal experience! Never did we imagine we would see one blue whale, let alone 8, including a cow and calf!! So amazing! We even saw a green sea turtle! And not to be forgotten, lots and lots of dolphins who had a great time playing and jumping in the boat swells. The naturalists and deck hands were friendly and knowledgeable. Truly an excellent experience that our whole family (with kids ranging from 8-19) enjoyed.

Fun time. Got to see a ton of dolphins. I mean 200 plus. Didn’t see a whale this time but they tried. Went about 8 1/2 miles out. Crew was nice and polite. They were very knowledgeable. Only gripe would be some of the people that joined us but that’s nothing related to the crew or the tour. Well worth it and I will be recommending this place to anyone who come here. The sunset whale/dolphin cruise is a must!
