COVID update for Hornblower cruise experience
Jul 2020
Took the family on the one hour San Diego Harbor tour. Was very pleased with the COVID precautions Hornblower is performing. All staff wearing masks. Tables and chairs appropriately “social distanced” from each other. Hand sanitizer throughout the ship. It’s clear they want to provide a good and safe experience and keep the cruises open through this pandemic. Thank you on behalf of the cruise guests!

1-hour South Harbor Cruise
Feb 2020
We had done this cruise before so returned with friends. The boat personnel are very friendly and safety concious. We enjoyed hearing about the many ships along the route. On our first tour, the captain pointed out a ship that was used to transport cars from overseas, mentioning the ship could hold 5,000 cars. On our return visit, the ship was sitting there, but there was no mention of it's purpose. It would also be nice if the captain would comment on some of the iconic buildings downtown. He did point out the Padre's stadium and convention center however. Also, if you also tour the USS Midway Museum, keep your ticket stub and show it to the box office and you'll receive a $5.00 discount for taking a Hornblower cruise.

A must do!
We had an exquisite experience! We took the north bay cruise and we had wonderful views of the city as well as other military ships and the outskirts of the Bay Area. We enjoyed a glass of wine by the window and relaxed a great deal. The cruise started and ended on time and the staff was very professional.

Relaxing!
Nov 2019
When a break is needed this is a great way of doing it. Great staff that gives alot of information about the city, the naval base and the harbor's history.

Sit back and enjoy the city as it floats by and you might even get to see some wildlife if you stay off your phone and truely relax!

A Beautiful, Informative Adventure
Nov 2019
My friends and I enjoyed 2 relaxing hour seeing the North and the South side of the San Diego Harbor. The cruise was great for my friend who uses a walker and needed handicap accessibility. We found a great table of the bottom floor with a great view. We learned so much during our cruise. I would highly recommend this. I personally have taken the Champagne Brunch Cruise and loved it!

Very relaxing way to see San Diego
Sep 2019
Took this cruise for the 2nd time in about 20 years. Took the one hour cruise. Great way to see the northern part of San Diego Bay. Narration is included as you go past downtown, many resorts, the seals and the Naval Base. Bar with snacks on board. You definitely want to be on the upper deck for great views. Around $58.00 for the two of us.

Put us in danger!
The “captain” of Adventure Hornblower put the lives of everyone in our speedboat in danger. We had just rescued some boaters after an accident in the harbor and were following a police boat who got a little far ahead (because their boat was more powerful than our boat). Adventure Hornblower was on the port side close to shore and we were parallel in the channel heading in the same direction. The captain turned to starboard in our direct path, continuing as he completed his u-turn to head the opposite way. Had we not veered to portside at the last minute we — and the 6 passengers we rescued — would have crashed. Very irresponsible and unsafe. We had the right of way! Boating rules apply to everyone, including arrogant tour boat captains. Avoid this company! They put our lives at risk, so why trust them with yours?

Very scenic - Lots of Sea Life

This was my 4th Hornblower 2 hour San Diego Harbor Cruise. Always well narrated with plenty of Sea Lions & Dolphins photo opportunities. You'll see most of overall Harbor area to include Point Loma, Coronado Island, Coronado Bay Bridge & the Naval shipyards. Bring a good digital camera & the top deck is the place to 'see it all'. Highly recommend. 📷🐬

Cancelled trip -- Completely screwed us and everyone else
Jun 2019 • Family
I've traveled all over for decades, and I know bad things happen. I usually roll with the punches. But never in my life have I felt compelled to create an online profile and write a negative review -- until today. Hornblowers screwed my family over (and several others based on the crowds on the docks) because they decided to book us on a 5:30pm cruise that was never going to happen. I spoke to one crew member that literally told me "oh, they should never have booked you. This one was never going to happen." Unreal.

And as the ticket booth passed the buck to the manager, Patrick Mowobi, his solution was for us to come back another day for a free trip. As I explained, we're tourists with planned itineraries...what the hell good is it to cancel my schedule tomorrow for his makeup tour? Nothing but crickets from him because he's not concerned (nor is Hornblowers) with making things right. Instead, the answer to everyone at the dock is "you're SOL". I'm one person writing a review, but let me tell you, there were tens of people all screwed over and flabbergasted at the non-response overall.

I cannot believe these guys are in operation. There is too much competition in San Diego to roll the dice with amateur hour. Take your business elsewhere.

We are truly sorry for this experience and completely understand your frustration. Due to a technical error on our booking system, we were unfortunately unable to take down the 5:30 PM cruise in time. Rest assured that our team has taken the necessary measures to ensure that this does not happen again. We hope you can give us the opportunity to make it up to you the next time you make it to San Diego.
