    Great introduction to Tijuana!
Our family of 3 had a terrific experience with our guide Carlos. He took us through several areas in Tijuana and gave us great info on the area. He also touched on the other Mexican states and the cultural differences in each one. The taco lunch was great! Very tasty and there was plenty for me. I ordered 2 tacos. We were allowed up to 3 with the tour. I’m sure our son could’ve eaten more - but should he🙄 - my grocery bill has been cut by half since he left home! Note - Because the entry line to the U.S. was so long, he was unable to cross to get us. Instead we went through (very easy process) and he met us at the taxi stand area on the Mexican side of the border. He used WhatsApp and cell to communicate. Additional note - If the line to return is super long, let him send you to the bus station in a taxi. From there you pay $10 for passage into the US. They send passport info digitally. Instead of a 110 minute wait, we had a 65 minute wait from taxi to bus to disembarking.

    Fell short of expectations
Tijuana, Mexico – Walking Tijuana Tour Our day trip to Tijuana on November 13, 2024, was underwhelming and fell short of expectations. Booked through TripAdvisor, the “Walking Tijuana Tour” primarily focused on the downtown area, which lacked notable attractions or historical significance. Most of the downtown establishments were either closed or preparing to open, making the visit feel poorly timed. While a couple of buildings had some historical context, the area was more geared toward late evening or nighttime activities, with numerous bars catering to partygoers. Unfortunately, this vibe didn’t align with what we hoped to experience during a daytime city tour. The tour included lunch and alcohol sampling, but the meal was very basic. For those looking for halal options, the lack of awareness about halal food was a drawback, though vegetarian choices were available. Another letdown was the high cost of souvenirs, priced higher than comparable items in the USA, with vendors preferring USD for transactions. Additionally, crossing back into the United States required nearly two hours due to long customs queues—something visitors should plan for. Overall, this trip felt like a “been-there-done-that” experience. If you plan to visit downtown Tijuana, it’s better to explore on your own, as the area can be covered in a couple of hours without a guide. Sadly, this is not a destination we’d revisit.

    Walk to Tijuana!
Getting into Mexico was easy. Our tour guide was Humberto, and he did a good job of explaining things to the group and giving us details while on the tour. The tequila tasting was fun, and we got to try multiple flavors. Lunch was just okay. We had a small order of chips/salsa. I didn't try the salsa because others in the group were saying it was really spicy, so I just had a couple of chips. I was disappointed that we didn't get to order from a menu. We were told to order two tacos - one chicken and one beef. There was no rice or beans or anything to go with the tacos. The chicken taco was good, but I didn't like the beef, so it was a really light lunch. We took a quick walk through the market, but we had time at the end of the tour to visit some shops which was nice. It's annoying that there aren't prices on anything (not the tour's fault), but we bought some items anyway! In one of the shops, we got to sample one kind of candy. Once the tour ended, it took about two hours to get back into the US, so be aware that it's not as easy to get back in. We had an Uber to drop us off at the McDonalds to start the tour, but we took the trolley back near our hotel following the tour. There are some kiosks nearby where you can buy trolley tickets. I'm glad we booked the tour because I wouldn't have wanted to go into Tijuana without a guide. Overall, I would recommend the tour.

Disappointing. Recommend trying to find a better alternative to go with.
If you like a tour that doesn't cover much ground, gives no substantive history about Tijuana, fills the time by taking you to places for a weak margarita, candy and tequilla tasting (no hard sell which was good) then this is for you. Border Tours seem to offer different price points for the same trip so just choose the cheapest option. Don't expect to be picked up and escorted through from the US side despite what is offered - anyway it is really easy to do on your own. Blue line Trolley from San Diego to the border worked really well.

Marisol was a great guide and we really enjoyed ourselves. The lunch was delicious and the tequila tasting was fun. Heads up — getting back into the US can take some time so prepare yourself.

Tacos, Quesadillas and Tadeo! The best combination for a trip to Tijuana!
We couldn't have imagined a better guide than Tadeo! He was very friendly and took us to the best food spots in Tijuana. The Tacos and Quesadillas were incredibly delicious. We would like to thank Tadeo from the bottom of our hearts for the tour in Tijuana.

Beautiful safe and good day trip to Tijuana Mexico.
The trip was a successful introduction to (northern) Mexico Tijuana. Tadeo Calles provided excellent guidance and showed us safely and beautifully around the streets of Tijuana. I would definitely recommend this tour to others who wish to take a day trip to Tijuana, Mexico, with Tadeo Calles.

This website states that poor weather will cancel the trip and you will be refunded. This is a lie. I called customer service 24 hours before the trip and asked if it was raining would the trip be cancelled as the radar showed eminent rain but you never now. Upon being told yes, I kept the trip on. The morning of the trip the tour operator informs me that it must be "dangerous" weather to cancel (not what the website says). Then proceeded to lie to me that it was not raining in Tijuana, when the weather radar showed dark green over the city. I have provided documentation of my calls, case numbers and screen shots and this company will NOT refund my money. I would be very careful booking a trip with a company that does not have your best interest in mind, but is only about the money. My husband and I did not want to walk around Tijuana in the rain, but apparently the money is more important than reputation.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a fun day in Tijuana filled with tasting the best street tacos, tequila, and Caesar Salads. Did you know the Caesar salad was made in Tijuana?! Amazing.
We met our tour guide, Tadeo, on the border of Mexico (adhering to COVID guidelines), and our day started with learning about the many historic areas of the city and how modern-day Tijuana came to be. Tadeo was incredibly informative of the city’s history AND where to find the best tacos. We were able to visit Playas de Tijuana in addition to other artsy areas of the city.
This was an exciting, yet COVID safe day trip!

The description on getting to Tijuana isn’t accurate. It should inform you that you have to cross the border on your own prior. (Not dangerous) However, our tour guide Victor was amazing. He texted me prior to getting to the border and waited right outside of the Mexican side. Victor took his time to explain the city to us and you can tell how passionate he was about his city. He made us feel at ease and really see through the eyes of the locals. Thank you, Victor for a fun experience!

We'd been to San Deigo a few times and were looking for something different to do. A trip to Tijuana sounded like fun. Our tour guide Tadeo was fun, funny and flexible! He safely guided us around the city, told many interesting stories, and customized the tour based on our request. He was obviously well known by many people around town. When we booked the tour, we were told that the guide would meet us on the US side of the border. The day before we were notified that he would meet us on the Mexico side. We were a little concerned, but it worked out fine. Parking on the US side was easy, getting across the border was no issue. We arrived a little early and waited a few minutes until Tadeo found us. There were 4 of us on the tour. We rode a bus to the downtown area, walked around there and rode the bus back to the border crossing. It took about 45 minutes to cross back into the US. It was fun and interesting to see and learn about Tijuana.

The daytrip to Tijuana was a really exciting and interesting experience.
We started our trip with a rather uncomfortable feeling in our stomaches, as, unlike previouly planned, we had to cross the border ourselves. However, the crossing prolonged without any problems. The tour itself was really amazing. One felt embraced into the Mexican way of life. We felt like we saw the true face of Tijuana and its residents. Our guide Carlos helped with any questions that came up along the daytrip and told us quite a many interesting facts about the city, we would have expected a little more facts about the cities diverse history, but Carlos did his best to use up the limited time phrame. The taco and tequila testings were really embracing and we also got a chance to try Mexican coffee. Afterwards, we were dropped off at a souvenir shop, although the store felt more like a tourist trap (Prices in Dollar, sellers advertising on the streets, immediate negotiation upon interest,…).
Following all these events we were dropped off at the border. General recommendation: Do Not Take The Buses Across The Border! These are typically scams and take even more time than just passing the border by foot.

The success of this tour is due to rich-experienced tour guides. It was very comfortable just to walk around instead of being crowded on a bus for a city tour. The spots visited have their own unique charm as I gained experience from the tour; I would gladly do this again.

It would be zero stars but I must start by saying that the tour guide herself was exceptional and we loved the tour itself.

How ever, the tour says its starts in San Diego. It does not. Once you arrive at the meeting place, only at this point you are told that you actually need to cross the border into Tijuana to meet the tour guide. You are also left at the Mexican border to walk across yourself on your return.

The 3 stars are for the tour guide herself.

Not the operator. It’s false advertising. If I had known this I would of booked elsewhere.

We are sorry Zoe that you feel like this, in any matter we give a notice that meeting can/might change because of Traffic or border conditions (Busiest Border in the World). We really appreciate that you like the tour and the service of our local guides wish is seen on the photos of the tour. Drop off is also mention prior your booking. wish we think is the best after the experience had on the tour wish lets you know the real Tijuana. On the other hand there is no false advertisement at all because all this is inform prior the booking on the description and detail of the tour. But again thank you for your review and your sincere comments.

The trip across to Tijuana was great fun. The guide met in on the US side and helped us across the border which didn't take long. From there we met out Local guide Marisol who was taking us around Tijuana.
Marisol was a great guide, organising transport for us to the city centre, taking us to the main sights and explaining the history behind the city, the culture, along with taking us to some great spots in the city.
Highlights being the local markets, tequila tasting, and some great tacos. And at the end of the day you're taken back to the border to get back across to the US.
I'd definitely recommend this trip if you've wanted to go to Tijuana but didn't want to do it alone.

I was nervous about visiting Tijuana, but wanted to ‘Cross the Border’ by foot and take my family across safely. Border Patrol came highly recommended by friends who grew up in Tijuana and we were pleased. Our guide was Tadeo, young and knowledgeable, he provided information on this young border town, provided photo ops for the family and we toured the town full of colors and vibrancy. We ate at restaurants that had clean bathrooms (I’m that person) and enjoyed authentic, local cuisine - had the best quesadilla I’ve ever had! It was National Margarita Day and we hit up a local bar for drinks. All of this was included, extra drinks and souvenirs you paid for. I would recommend family in the care of Border Patrol any day! It was an experience to cross over and come back by foot! Tijuana has grit and resilience, it’s people, hope and hustle!

I didn't know what to anticipate when I signed up for this tour as a lone traveler, but I'm happy that Carlos Saavedra, our tour guide, looked after our group's safety and gave us a wealth of information about the locations we visited. The cost covers not only our meal, but also the fare for the public transportation we must take. I tasted a fried cricket during the tequila and candy sampling, which was an interesting experience. All in all, it was worthwhile.
