I did the Sweet and Savory South End tour and Laurel was the guide. She was a fabulous guide and took the time to connect with all the guests, while staying focused on the details of the food and restaurateurs. As well as providing a really rich context for the South End – both in the older history of Boston and how it has evolved to what it is today. We definitely took time to admire and learn about the beautiful architecture that is so prevalent in the area.

The tour has bite sized portions (or slightly larger), so do not expect to get totally full. All the selections were delicious and quality.

And being gluten free, I was offered some quality alternatives – like a beautiful meringue instead of a flour pastry. So I don’t feel like I missed out on anything.
The food was excellent, the South End is very interesting, and most importantly, Laurel really brought the experience together by being such an attentive and enthusiastic guide.

I have been on many food tours in my life and this is one of the best I’ve ever had the luxury of experiencing. The portions were massive and everything was beyond tasty. The best part was how accommodating the company was when we were running late. They told us the best place to park and helped us catch up with the group in record time. The combination of food choices was eclectic and you will enjoy so many yummy bites! I would definitely recommend and use this company again!!

Alyssa was an excellent tour guide! Engaging and authentically friendly as seen by how she interacted not only with the tour group but with other people not in the tour group.

The amount of food versus the price exceeded my expectations. I thought I would not be satiated, but actually I had to skip dinner because the food portions were filling.

Also, the food choices were a nice round of types in regards to ethnicity and sweet versus savory.

I would never have tried out South Boston if it were not for this tour.

Fantastic tour that exceeded our expectations. Katie was our guide. We agreed that she was perfect for the job - knowledgeable and fun. We did the Sweet and Savory South End. Food was excellent - we came away full. Learned much about the history of the South End. While we are all from north of Boston, we didn't know much about the South End. It is really quite an exceptional neighborhood and so lovely with its parks and brick sidewalks. The brick townhomes are stunning and it has such a sense of history/community combined. Definite feeling of stepping back into a grand period in Boston's history.

Also a treat to discover new restaurants and help small business owners by patronizing and spreading the word about their delicious culinary delights.

Looking forward to doing another one in the spring!!

Loved it!

I took the Sweet and Savory South End tour this past week while in Boston for a wedding. First of all, the South End is a gem; absolutely gorgeous Victorian row houses, with lush gardens. Walking around the neighborhood was probably my favorite part. Also got a nice history lesson of the area as well. Food was very good, but I felt like the amount of food didn't match the price of the tour. I have been on several other food tours before in other cities, and left stuffed. With this tour, I wasn't hungry, but I also wasn't very satisfied either. However, despite the small portions, they were delicious! The Cambodian spring roll from the Elephant Walk was to die for! And washed down with a Cambodian mule, it was my favorite bite of the whole tour. Also got a cookie, cupcake, Venezuelan appetizers, cheese, and pizza with a spoon of sorbet. The sorbet was probably my least favorite item. Hannah the tour guide was very pleasant, and provided great information. She did a great job of keeping the tour on track and packed it full of history and stories of the various places we visited.

My wife and I took this tour on a lovely Saturday afternoon in good weather.

The tour took us to six restaurants and all around the neighborhood. Each of the food selections was delicious. I think the best was at the Venezuelan restaurant - the bacon-wrapped fig dish.

The guide was excellent, and knew a lot about the neighborhood and the food. We were treated to the only historic wood house left in Boston, and a number of other sites. She also explained the history of the neighborhood over the years.

I strongly recommend this tour.

We took a group of about 18 co-ops for the Sweet & Savory tour in the South End. Alyssa, our group coordinator, was fantastic with helping to plan a custom tour to fit within our budget and give us great variety while also accommodating for dietary restrictions. Laurie was our guide and she was so knowledgeable and friendly. We would definitely do this event again for a future group!
