        Great Tour
We were excited to see the historical sites and were greatly rewarded by the depth of historical knowledge shared by our guide. He was fun and kept us captivated as we traveled to each site. Great tour

        Best Money Spent
This was the best tour ever! Rory was an awesome tour guide and showed us all the most beautiful sites to see all the beautiful, colorful leaves. Highly recommend this tour. They pick you up and drop you off from where you started. Money well spent, I'd love to come back and book the same tour again, highlight of my trip! Thank you!

Fantastic day trip tour. Highly recommend.
Fabulous tour! Dave was so knowledgeable and detailed that at times it was like listening to a great story. Great explanation of everything. The Plymouth Plantation and Mayflower were done really well. Such an enjoyable day and we were so glad we chose this as a day trip. What a fantastic tour of our American History! Highly recommend!!!

        Not a Fall Foliage trip
Nothing great about this tour - its called "Fall Foliage" but the experience was far from anything close - just driving all day and making pit stops here and there random places. Some history but nothing fascinating - not much fall foliage to see on this trip (the main purpose of our trip)

Great tour of the history of the Mayflower and the area
Great tour. Dave is a wealth of knowledge on the history snd trivia of all the towns along our way to Mayflower and Plimoth museums. As well as all the info on the Mayflower. Very enjoyable.

        Unhappy Traveler
My two adult daughters and I were very disappointed in this tour. Because the tour info included 30 minutes at the Lexington Green, we were looking forward to a bit of history there. We never stopped at the Lexington Green -- just drove by it and our female tour guide (on October 9) said that's the Green. She pointed out a few historic houses along the way. Would stop long enough for us to take a picture from the bus, so if we were on the wrong side, forget about it. There is absolutely no point in going to the North Bridge right now. It's got some type of construction going on, and you can't get near it. We saw it from afar, from one vantage point. The Wayside Inn was the only place we really liked, and would have loved to have a nice lunch there. They were getting ready. Sturbridge Village is great if you have kids. Otherwise, very unimpressed with spending several hours at a place that isn't real. Just built for tourists and like I said, families. I prefer seeing the places that really existed in the early days. Our driver had told us our last stop would be at a farm for cinnamon apple doughnuts, so we were rather looking forward to that. Come to find out we had to pay for our doughnuts, and the people in the shop acted like they weren't expecting us and had to go to the back to see if we could have any! Our driver ("tour guide") wasn't interested in any of this. And I was sitting right behind her and saw her speedometer at 70 mph. Made me a bit nervous! A waste of time altogether.

        Do not recommend
Booked to see fall foliage but instead we spent half hour at McDonald’s, and too long at several other locations with very little to do. Do NOT recommend this tour. Bus is old, no storage, very very bumpy ride and while we passed a few changing leaves on the interstate, I would have rather had a full day in Boston than a crammed “non-luxury” bus with stops to places worth 15 minutes but we spent 45 there to pass the time. Find another tour!

        Great tour, inconsiderate guest
Wonderful trip. I did feel the driver drove a little too fast through the neighborhoods for us to see the sight he was talking about. Our experience was lessened by another guest who was consistently late returning to the vehicle. One time we waited for over 30 minutes

Excellent tour. Planning on going it again next year with my sisters.
This one of my most favorite trips. Our tour guide Tim was very knowledgeable and funny as well. The only bad thing to report was one of our fellow passengers was constantly late getting back on the bus. 15 minutes late. Which then made us later getting back to Boston at the end of the day. She had no regards for others time. Tim was very patient with that. Hats off to him.

Caravan Tours Fall Foliage/New England 8 Days
This tour was outstanding. The New England states are surrounded by nature and history. The bus was clean and comfortable. The tour director knew where to stop to get a better view of the foliage. We did not feel rushed. We had plenty of time at each location. The driver was outstanding, too! This tour is a great value!! We loved the Maine boat surprise, too. What a great way to see the lighthouses!!! We will recommend this tour to our family and friends!! And by the way, we did make new friends. That is the icing on the cake!! Thank you, Caravan, for making travel easy, affordable, and a Bucket List check-off!

Great tour with a lot packed in
Great tour with Tim our tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about Newport and Boston. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour at The Breakers and The Marble House. The only negative was we had one passenger who was 15 minutes late leaving The Breakers. She was also last to get on leaving the lunch stop in Newport. Very rude and annoying.

        Great people, poor experiences.
Overall, the company delivered as promised. The bus was on time, she treated everyone well, she answered questions and gave us decent history while driving. But the stops were nothing to write home about. We drove by some old houses. Very interesting but just a drive by. We stopped at the oldest inn being operated in America, but it wasn’t a museum or anything. At the Sturbridge Village, there was practically no one around. It was just a bunch of old buildings with no people to explain anything. We stopped at an apple orchard but had no time to explore. I think much of this would have been great if I was driving myself. We could have explored some amazing woods areas, and really looked around. Overall I thought the company delivered as promised. No complaints there. But you would be better served to rent a car and go on your own.

        Great Day Trip!
Our tour guide, David was exceptional. He was very good driving our bus as well as providing commentary throughout our trip. We saw everything mentioned, even though we had a somewhat rainy and blustery day! Great Day trip. The only experience I wish that could have been added was actually going inside the John Adams Quincy Home and Library. We were an hour too early so just walked the grounds.

We relearned so much history of America on this tour! David was a knowledgeable tour guide who clearly loves our country. He had snacks and water for us and gave ample time to see our stops.

I did this trip on 7/3 so it’s possible the island was busier because of the holiday week. That being said, it’s reportedly fairly crowded all season. I’d try to go on a week day if possible. To see the whole island, the optional bus tour is your best bet. I opted to get an $8 day pass from the local transit authority and use the island bus which takes a long time to get around on due to the volume of people and traffic on the island. Without the bus tour, plan on only seeing two or three of the island towns. The island is beautiful and the service provided by New England Trips was excellent but this wasn’t my favorite day trip. Ideally, it would be better to stay on the island for several days to see it all. I highly recommend the Kennebunkport, Maine and Newport, Rhode Island trips for something less crowded. That being said, if you’re looking to go to MV, this is the way to go. Hotel pickup was prompt. Our driver was Elaine who is an excellent entertaining host. She is from the area and is very knowledgeable about the history of it. She also sings pretty good. Complimentary bottled water and snacks were provided on the van.

We took advantage of this trip during a recent stay in Boston and it was amazing to spend the day in such a beautiful place.
We were collected from our hotel and driven in a small mini-bus to Falmouth in Cape Cod where we took the Island Queen Ferry to Martha's Vineyard. The driver was great and struck the right balance between giving information about what we were seeing and leaving you in peace!
There was a convenient rest stop on the way where you could get breakfast which was great after a 6.15am pick up!
Martha's Vineyard was absolutely beautiful and well worth a visit. We didn't take part in the additional island tour and chose to explore on our own which we were really pleased about. We hired electric bikes for the day in Oaks Bluff which gave us the chance to explore more of the island in the 5 or 6 hours that we had there. We cycled to Edgartown to have lunch at The Seafood Shanty and back again to explore Oaks Bluff in the afternoon and be near the harbour for the return journey.
The return journey was equally smooth and stresa free. All in all a great day out in an amazing place!

Thank you for your GREAT 5 Star review of Boston's ORIGINAL Martha's Vineyard Day trip. I am very pleased to hear what an amazing time that you had on the island. Our tour guide was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Directions for the pick up location was very clear and he arrived promptly with water and snacks for everyone. He also had the tickets we’d need for the ferry and had a discount for a restaurant on the island as well as a brochure to give us an idea of some stuff to check out while over there.
The weather on the day we went wasn’t very nice and we opted into not taking the island tour and exploring ourselves. On a day when the weather is nice I think that’s still a feasible option, but with bad weather I’d definitely recommend the tour! The island is much bigger than we imagined and we definitely missed a lot of opportunities by not taking the tour.
Ferry ride was fine as well with plenty of seating and there was also a small cafeteria area.
I definitely recommend seeing the lighthouses and the gingerbread houses. We also stopped and ate at ArtCliff cafe and it was delicious!

Weather affected the choice of ferry crossing and revealed the islanders zealous focus on tourism; they shut, leaving tourists with little to see and do. Those left open (some shops, restaurants & taverns) exploit the tourists who are still booked to come on expensive trips. We were lucky to have a great bus operator on the island (Tom) who shared all his knowledge & life experience to compensate for the closure of many businesses. Black Dog Tavern served very overpriced food and staff provided service to an adequate level given the lack of staff numbers for customers. Lobster roll (small brioche) at $42 extravagant. Journey to & from ferry lengthy and tiring. Not much to see on highways! Given cost of tour, would expect gratuities to be included.

Thank you for your review. It is getting into the offseason over on the island. Remember, Martha's Vineyard is a New England summer vacation destination. The transportation part of our trip is very inexpensive. I am not sure if you looked at any other options. Our 3 tour is priced similarly to every other 3 hour tour on the island (not including gratuities) I am happy that you enjoyed Tom's Tour. I appreciate your feedback. Kind Regards, Stephen M. This review is challenging because the main part of the tour, which included the shuttle ride and ferry ride, was excellent and well managed. We had THE BEST driver in Jenny. She was fun and personable and just amazing at what she does. We got envelopes with the owners name and number on it as well as needed tickets for the ferry and optional island tour.

However, the island tour ended up being a disaster for us. There were 2 stops on the 3 hour tour. The first was in Edgartown. In fairness to the driver, we were told when to be back to the shuttle. However, due to circumstances at a local restaurant, we were 7 min late and were left behind in a town quite a ways outside of where we had started.

We had met 2 couples on the ride from Boston and they both asked that Tom, the tour driver, wait for us. One even had our number and wanted to call to find out where we were, but Tom refused and left. Absolutely terrible customer service.

I would definitely recommend this tour company in getting from Boston to MV. But we absolutely do not recommend the island tour. It took about 3.5 hours to get from Boston to MV and another 3 hours on a bus with a total of 1 hour and 5 min in stops is a lot. My opinion is that we would have been better off renting a vehicle and seeing the island ourselves. We wish we had done that in the first place.

Thank you for the review. I'm sorry that you were left in Edgartown but Tom does tell everyone prior to getting out of the bus what time he's leaving. Period. Unfortunately, they have no grace period. 7 minutes does not seem like a very long time to you but to the other 40 guests on the bus it may. It is unfair to them to have to sit and wait. Another guest on that bus even commented that they were happy Tom left when he did. I would imagine quite a few guests felt that way. I'm glad that you enjoyed your time with Jennifer. This was our only negative experience taking tours while in Boston. The day was to long for what we got to see. Starting at 6:15 is insane when you have to arrange transportation to another hotel to get picked up. The van was hot and stuffy the whole time there. The Ferry ride was great over to Martha's Vineyard. Then we took a 3 hour bus drive around the island with 2 stops. Most everything we saw was just trees and foliage. Also, a lot of farm land. This bus was also very hot and stuffy and I am normally very cold natured. I really thought we would see more homes and New England architecture , maybe some celebrity homes, but it was the most boring 3 hours on a school bus type of bus ever. You couldn't see anything for overgrown trees and weeds. The few times we got to see the beach, it was pretty.
After we finally got off the bus, we had 2 1/2 hours to kill before the Island Queen ferry took us back to the tour company bus. Then the long drive back to Boston. The whole trip took 13 hours and was 75 miles away (or close to that).
My husband and I both thought it was just to much for what we got to see. Physically and financially. We would not recommend this to anyone. Other than the harbor and lighthouse, it was mostly souvenir shops and land with nothing on it.

Thank you for the review. I feel that your review is rather mean-spirited. If you think that a 615 start time is insane and that the day would be too physically taxing, then why did you book the trip? It is a long day and certainly not for everybody. There is no short way to Martha's Vineyard and we make it as comfortable, convenient and less expensive than any other way I know of. As far as the island tour goes, the vast majority of our guests love it. Our reviews speak for themselves. The free time that you alluded to as "time to kill" is usually when our guests go have a nice waterfront lunch and spend some time shopping. Information about our trip is in writing and not a secret. I would not recommend your review to anyone looking to travel to Martha's Vineyard on a day trip from Boston. Consider the 5 star reviews that far outweigh the poor ones. Kind Regards, Stephen M. Belcastro President New England Trips Inc.

The tour was amazing and worth the amount paid. The driver Jonathan was entertaining, shared a lot of good knowledge and even showed around the Cape Cod Beach in the city of Falmouth prior to our ferry departure. The ferry ride from the town to Martha's Vineyard was an experience I can't describe. The island is just unique with it's coastline in Oak Bluffs to harbor in Edgartown.

The issues were that public transportation is not the best if you're on your own. There was no direct bus that took you from Edgartown to Aquinah cliffs and from Aquinah to Oak Bluff plus some of the routes came every hour due to which I didn't have sufficient time to go to Aquinah cliffs or Vineyard Haven. The driver was good, served us water and snacks prior to and even conclusion of our trip. He started sharing the history of Boston at the time of dropping passengers to their hotels when everyone was burned out, so the timing was wrong.

Thank you for your 4 Star review of our Martha's Vineyard Day trip from Boston. I am glad that you had such an amazing day and enjoyed your time with Jonathan. Unfortunately, we have no control over the public transportation on the island. Thanks for sharing. Sincerely, Stephen M. Belcastro President New England Trips Inc.

Long day starting at 6am and back in Boston for about 7pm. Nice drive to the ferry and only a short 30 minutes or so across to the Island. We didn't book the Island tour but used the public busses to get around. We went to Edgartown, Vineyard Haven and back to Oak Bluffs on the busses and they were easy to find and use. Their website gives you loads of info and the prices were around $2-3 a ticket. It was throwing it down all day when we went but there were plenty of lovely local shops at each town to have a look in and we bought some really nice souvenirs.
Our driver was very knowledgeable and told us everything we needed to know and there were toilet stops to and from Boston at a services that also sold food and drinks; although there was bottled water, breakfast bars, crisps and kit-kats and some other snacks on the bus for anyone who wanted them which was very nice!
All in all a brilliant day trip!

This organised trip made it very easy to visit MV, without having to worry about public transport or hiring a car.

MV is such a lovely place, so well worth listing. It gets very busy so the optional additional tour is a great idea to see the whole island and hear about it from a local.

The additional tour stopped at Edgartown which is very cute, and then on to Aquinnah, then back to Oaks Bluff a couple of hours before the return ferry.

It was an early start and I had to wait about 25 minutes to be picked up, additionally the driver was possibly unwell as they were not alert on the drive down. A couple of passengers, including myself, made Steve the owner aware and he did what he could, including phoning the driver and then swapping them out for a different driver for the return journey, which I was thankful for. I wouldn’t have driven back with the original driver.

Overall I would recommend this trip.

Thank you for your 4 star review of our Martha's Vineyard Day trip from Boston. I am glad that you enjoyed your day. Just to clarify, your pickup was between 615 and 630. We advised you to be waiting in front of the hotel NO LATER THAN 615am. You were absolutely picked up within your 15 minute window,. I am not sure where you came up with a 25 minute wait. I also find it rather tasteless to mention that your driver was ill. She is a dedicated employee and has been for over 6 years. She is a wonderful person that perhaps should have called in sick that day. She chose not to because she did not want to leave us without a driver on short notice. I apologize if you ever felt unsafe. Safety is always our TOP PRIORITY and the situation was handled immediately. Sincerely, Stephen M. Belcastro President New England Trips Inc.

Skip it. Skip it. Skip it. This is the most over-hyped place I've ever been... the island and the 3-hour tour. The Gilligan's Island tour would have been better. Nothing to see except woods and some coastline. Our driver, Tom, while seemingly knowledgeable about the history of the island LOVED talking about himself, his farm, where his wife worked, how many times he's hung out with the Clinton's, blah, blah, blah. The driver pointed out points of interest as we drove by but didn't bother to either stop or slow down to get a glimpse.
The bus ride from Boston is equally horrible. Our bus was hot the entire ride to and from the ferry port, which was over an hour away. The driver said the AC was on, but most everyone remained uncomfortable. OH! And the roads from Boston to Cape Cod are about the worst I've ever been on. They are very rough and full of holes, which increased our discomfort . (I realize this isn't the fault of the tour company. I'm merely pointing this out)

Thank you for the review (though rather mean spirited). You certainly are entitled to your opinion.. Luckily the vast majority of our guests vehemently disagree. Every guest of ours drives the same roads in the same buses to the same island and takes the same tour. The result has been close to 2000 4 and 5 star reviews and a handful like yours. Enough said.
