- jenniferpL5121YP00This was an amazing kayaking experience that we cannot wait to do again! If you are ever in the Lake Lure or Asheville area, we highly recommend taking time for a guided kayak tour with David! I finally gathered the nerve to kayak after wanting to do so for a long time. As a first time kayaker, David quickly put me at ease with his incredible kindness and knowledge. He provided helpful tips prior to our tour to ensure our safety and a great time. He also reached out to us prior to meeting to ensure we knew where to meet as well as was available for any questions and help us feel welcome, more at ease. David is an excellent guide! He is incredibly knowledgeable of the history of the area and the wildlife. We also appreciated that he is very easy to talk to (even if you have never met him before, he quickly feels like an old friend of many years) and there was a small group of us, making the experience more personable. David goes the extra mile to ensure a great experience; he even brought everyone cold waters and snacks (as well as the most amazing cookies he baked himself). Our kayaking tour with David far exceeded any expectations! We look forward to booking with him again. Thank you so much, David! 😊
- trinitykorin84300Awesome Time!It was a great experience! Having the tour group limited to 4 people made it really easy to have good conversations and personalized the experience. David also picked trails based on us and what we would like and our ability. There was a 45 minute drive to and from the Pisgah Forest so our hike lasted until 1:30!
- danielpP6850TZ00Enjoying nature as it should be.We were lucky... we were able to hike nature trails to falls AND take in the Blue Ridge mountain scenery... all in a long half-day. Everything that we were looking for! Highly recommended. David, our guide, was the absolute best! Knowledgeable of the trees, flowers, plants, etc. etc. for the area. Best guide that we could have had!
- ileanag82600AMAZING EXPERIENCEOur favorite part was having meet David, thanks to him we had a privilege to know such wonderful waterfalls ...it was worth every penny this tour...we had a blast !!...enjoyed every second we spent in nature...knowing wild flowers...he is an expert ! likes talking about nature , very kind and professional. We really recommend this tour, you will not regret it !!!!
- 807debip00Amazing Hiking and Kayaking Experience! If you’re in the Asheville area, I highly recommend Hike Bike Kayak Ashville. The Combo Full Day Adventure consisted of hiking in the morning and kayaking in the afternoon. Our guide Dave chose a beautiful 5-mile hike to Twin Falls in the Pisgah National Forest. He scoped the hike based upon our fitness level and desire. Water and snacks were provided for the hike. Dave is a fun, personable and experienced hiker. We were impressed with his knowledge of the plants and flora in the area. After the hike Dave drove us to Lake Julian where a delicious picnic lunch was provided. Next, we had a great kayak experience around the lake. Again, our guide was very knowledgeable about the lake and surrounding area. It was a wonderful place to see eagles, ducks, turtles and other wildlife. Hike Bike Kayak Ashville provided all of the requisite equipment. We highly recommend this tour--you will not be disappointed!
- Trek46588700Great and knowledgeable guideDavid was a great guide and knows all the secret spots! He is very knowledgeable about the area and local nature, but doesn’t bombard you with facts or make the trip feel tedious. I would 100% recommend to anyone who’s weary about going out solo, or simply wants a hike with more guidance on the area.
- 3kristag00Amazing forest and falls off the beaten track! This was such a great day! David was an amazing guide and was extremely knowledgeable about the area and specifics of the forest and what it had to offer. We loved that it was a small group, which gave us opportunities to ask questions and learn while we were hiking. He did not rush us and encouraged us to enjoy everything around us. We look forward to returning and doing one of the kayak tours.
- 656kenyaa00AshvilleIt was a great tour. Enjoyed the waterfall and the riding companions. David was a great guide. He even baked cookies for us.
- Belize112900Awesome fall colors with surprisesDavid our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history and foliage of our Blue Ridge Parkway 4 hr tour. We encountered some surprises like seeing snow and ice at one point then all the beautiful colors of Fall with many stops to see spectacular view points. We ended our tour by encountering momma Bear and her two cubs up a tree ! All in all it was a wonderful experience.
- Traci W00Definitely Need to Hike & See the Waterfalls Hike Bike Kayak Asheville!!Although I normally like to do self-guided site-seeing, I've learned that, if my goal is a special and my time is limited, I can see and learn a LOT more if I go with a guide - especially one who is passionate about the setting/location. In my 7 days in the Maggie Valley/Asheville area, my hiking/waterfall excursion with David is the only I've paid for and it was WELL worth it (even considering that, as a solo traveler, I paid for two). Prior to my trip, I vetted out multiple hike excursions through Trip Advisor and Viator and liked that he was a certified naturalist. I reached out and Angela sealed the deal when she described David's tours. Since I was solo and no one else booked, I had to pay for two, but that meant I didn't have to compete with anyone else with my many questions - lol. David was up-to-speed on recent updates/reviews and took precautions to avoid trail issues that the rest of us wouldn't know about. Our multiple creek crossings made it more fun getting to Twin Falls (significant for me because I have twins) and David took us back a different way so we could see several more smaller falls - extra bonus! David was easy to talk to and so informative about the plants/trees, history of all of the area and geography. I'm pretty self-sufficient, but he was always there, to lend a hand if/when needed. When I return, I'm definitely going to do a kayak trip or Blue Ridge Mountain tour with him. This topped off my first and amazing solo vacation!
- SlwOfDavis00BeautifulTour was customized to our interest. Guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Saw a lot and understood what we saw
- shewholoves2travel00Beautiful Waterfall!Wow! David was so incredibly kind and knowledgeable. He led us on a hike to an absolutely break taking waterfall. My husband and I were on the hike. My husband is in good shape - me, not as much. But the hike was a perfect level of difficulty. I would recommend this to folks who want to adventure out but are unfamiliar with where to go, etc. My husband is usually skeptical of guided tours, but he was so impressed and enjoyed this excursion. Thanks, David!
- 369gwenc00Don’t miss this!David was a very personable and knowledgeable guide. He went above and beyond to make our hikes memorable. Highly recommend this excursion!
- nomorerushing00Simply Amazing-Cured My Photography ItchDavid was our tour guide who knew history, plants and flowers as well as all of the best scenic overlooks. We will definitely book his tour again. Soooo good!
- Traveler62077400This private tour is an absolute must! What an amazing tour!! Our guide, David, was a wealth of knowledge about the breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A seasoned naturalist, our group of 4 learned so much about the wildlife, florals, forest, waterfalls and so much more. He tailored our 4 hour trip based on our preference by providing us with easy hike options to pretty waterfalls. We had a lovely time from beginning to end. This tour is an absolute must for anyone visiting Asheville.

This was a great trip for all levels of kayakers. David was a great guide. Kept us up to date the day we went, because of weather concerns. If your looking to avoid crowds and just have a beautiful outdoor experience, this is it. Would definitely go back and hike with David. He is really knowledgeable about the area.

This was a highlight of our trip! David is very knowledgeable about the natural and cultural history of the area. A very enjoyable experience with a great guide. He took several pictures of us with his phone so we didn't have to bring ours. Such beautiful scenery and a very peaceful trip. Highly recommend this and any of his tours!!!

While we have kayaked before, we wanted to go with someone familiar with the area waterways… the bonus-good conversation, information about local plants and animals, and some local history and color.
Easy in, easy out… very pleasant morning!
Thank you Dave from HikeBikeKayak Asheville

Our guide was very knowledgeable and the tour was serene. There is one rapid, but it's small. It was a great value, too.

He will help teach those with no ir little experience in paddling. When we went he brought one single kayak and one double kayak plus his own. There were only 3 of us so it worked out great.

Tours are at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. David is a great guide. He and his wife, Angela, owned Hike, Bike, Kayak in La Jolla, CA for 10 years before relocating to Asheville. His nickname is Big Wave Dave. Hope that helps.
