About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Anna G0 contributionsAdventure in ArchesWe had a really fun experience touring the backcountry of Arches National Park. Ben was our tour guide and he was great! He took us to see some really impressive views, and was very knowledgeable about the history, ecology, wildlife, geology and more. We had a great day, and were able to get to sections of the park that we would not have been able to get to on our own. It was a great experience, and we felt like it was definitely a good value.Written October 12, 2024
- B3087KWrobinh0 contributionsArches and CanyonlandsThis was a great introduction to both National Parks! Saw a little bit of everything. And Marcia was great. She is very knowledgeable and took us to some great out of the way places. Highly recommend. And we did a little bit of off roasting that was fun.Written October 11, 2024
- janisc5950 contributions4 x 4 arches adventureSeth, our tour guide was amazing. He was fun to ride with and very informative on everything about the park, from the history to the vegetation. Great trip!Written October 11, 2024
- LuvBeingOutside0 contributionsA Rocking and a Rolling Grand Tour.Abby was a fantastic tour guide taking us down Potash by the Petroglyphs entering the off road at the Jug Handle Arch through some of Dead Horse, Canyonlands along the White Rim and Shaffer Trail to far into the backcountry in Arches. She was extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna as well as the history of the area pointing out various things that we would of never even thought about. Black Widow nest, with the nest full of eggs and the spiders ex left hanging (😥), Hydra shrimp in a small puddle. Pointed out the Marlboro Man commercial site as well as Thelma and Louise (I can understand why they thought they were at the Grand Canyon). The lunch and picnic spot were right on. The vehicle was very capable though it was well used didn’t bother us a bit, even added to the atmosphere of the tour. The afternoon weather was sunny 90 degrees we were glad we had the air conditioned Landrover. Don’t want to spoil it all for you but ask for Abby as your tour guide and you won’t be disappointed.Written October 10, 2024

Her driving skills and knowlege of the area and geology made this a trip will will never forget. Lunch was excellent and held in a perfect spot. We loved the additional opportunity to do some hiking, but it was never forced. If I could give this more than five stars I definately would.Written October 3, 2024

We spent close to a $1k on this 4x4 for 7 people. You’d think we would’ve gotten a pretty incredible tour from beginning to end. It wasn’t exceptional. When we got there, we were asked to wear masks. Totally fine, even though we were vaccinated, I understand people can still be uncomfortable with no masks. I asked if we had to wear masks in the vehicles, the lady said yes. I was a little annoyed - spending four hours in a land cruiser with masks with my own family was not ideal. But oh well. The lady then asked if I had water. I said no because the reservation I received said you had lemonade and water for us? She said everyone brings their own water on this trip. I told my husband to go check our car for any extra water we might have lying around. She then said it’s fine, I’m sure your driver will have water. It was a strange interaction.
We went outside and met our guides. Immediately, they were super nice, told us they had water and we didn’t have to wear masks because they were vaccinated. After the tour was all done, I just don’t think it was worth the money. In the end, I wish we had spent it on something different. I know too they have to keep their land cruisers in running condition, so I’m sure it is expensive. But personal opinion, it was a lot of money for what we got.

I booked the full day Canyon Lands tour on a Tuesday for my wife and I. Thursday afternoon I get a phone call saying that they cannot fill the third seat. I am informed that they are more than willing to allow me to pay for the third empty seat. In round numbers that turns a $400 dollar trip into a $600 trip. after deciding their kind offer to increase my tour cost by 50% I went back to searching other tour operators.
I learned that other operators work the same tour/itinerary on a two person minimum. If I had received a call earlier in the day I also could have booked with other operators. I really feel like I was being held up.
When I return to Moab again I definitely will not be calling Navtec.

Awesome trip with Lolly! We left Moab at 4:00 pm for the "sunset" tour. Lolly was informative, entertaining, skilled driving the Land Cruiser, and just a joy as a guide. Seeing Canyonlands from the "bottom up" is an amazing way to experience Utah. A surprise downpour not only didn't spoil the trip, it added red waterfalls and an opportunity to see a "flash flood" form right below us. The highlight though, besides Lolly, was to traverse UP Shafer Trail, navigating narrow switchbacks to the top. Breathtaking! The tour ended with a sunset at Dead Horse State Park followed by a trip back DOWN into Long Canyon and then back to Moab. Just a great way to see Canyonlands.

Went on a full day tour of Canyonlands national park with Navtec. Our guide for the day, Josh P. absolutely blew us away. He kept us entertained and comfortable throughout the whole 8 hour day, even while we were driving over boulders, up cliffs, and rocking all around in the 4X4.
But what was really impressive was his knowledge and his insights into the area, the history, the geological features etc. He really opened our eyes to not only the visual beauty of this area, but also to why it is so incredible and how it needs to be preserved and protected. We are already planning to come back for another excursion and will be specifically recommending to go with Josh as our guide again. A+++ I easily rate this experience as 5 Stars, especially because of Josh.

What an incredible experience. Not only is the scenery incredibly beautiful but the company is fantastic. Mike is hands down, one of the coolest humans on planet earth and was a wealth of knowledge for the entire trip. He shared the history, human and geological, but also the pop culture pieces which added to the experience. Also as a part of being one of the coolest humans on earth, he was simply a joy to talk to and ask questions of.
As I was solo, there were other parties in the car as well. Mike did a fantastic job of ensuring everyone had a great time, catering to the needs of each individual while also providing a thrilling (and incredibly safe) ride. Don't let the fear of being in a car with others deter you, especially if you are solo, Mike (and I am sure the entire team) did a fantastic job of "reading the room".
I'd recommend NAVTEC and more importantly, Mike, to anyone looking for a fantastic off-road adventure. I will definitely be checking out their other tours on future trips!

Our experience was fantastic! Our tour guide was Mike who was very experienced, informative, funny and knowledgeable about the geology and history of the area. It was 4.5 hours total from pick-up to drop-off. He seemed to make it a personalized experience with more and less “off roading” type experiences, photo opportunities, and the like. We took many breaks to explore the environment. Multiple bathroom break opportunities (we stopped at two). He also took photos of us and would stop to recommend different places to take photos. This particular experience could be for all ages and fitness levels because there was no hiking or rappelling or the like but it was still super fun and felt “adventurous”. It was not strenuous at all and was okay for those afraid of heights like my mom.
I would completely recommend this tour to anyone and will be back to do more in the future!
P.S. Mike is the most handsome man in the world too!

Great way to get down into the vastness of Canyonlands and appreciate them more closely. Amazing views and unique way to experience the park and surrounding areas. Our guide [Josh B.] was extremely knowledgeable about the cultural and geological history of the area and was an exceptional driver. We used Navtec for a couple tours and highly recommend using them to help you explore.

We had a great tour with Adam, and that is what made the trip so spectacular! He knew so many details about all things Canyonlands and communicated in an easy going, friendly manner. He was also an awesome driver, the snow had made some parts of the “roads” very tricky to navigate, but we were never scared because he knew how to instill confidence in us. He was also very safety minded, and at one point we turned around because he didn’t consider the path safe enough.
To make up for not being able to get on Schaefer Road , a park ranger had just closed it, Adam took us out on White Rim Road and spent an extra hour with us doing that. we had a great time!
It was a great trip, and we shall return for another Navtec trip with Adam!

What a relaxing way to see the non-stop beauty of the Canyonlands area. Brian is definitely an expert driver and I wouldn’t recommend driving these backroads on your own unless your a good 4x4 driver too. He told us many things about the area and made many stops along the way for us to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. Our travels this month took us from Oregon to Utah and this tour was one of our favorite highlights. Expect road bumps and narrow cliff roads as part of the adventure, which we loved, but I can imagine it’s not for everyone.

The guide, Ric Otero, was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and obliging to all guests. Took all the pictures of us we would ever want, knew every inch of the territory, and was a very skilled driver on some very difficult surfaces. Could not recommend higher.

Can this be booked as a private tour with just 2 people?

Is the seating, 1 person in the front with the driver and 3 in the backseat? If 3 across, does that middle seat passenger rotate with window seat passengers?

Yes. But it was all my family, so it wasn't a problem

Thanks everyone!
One more question, when is the morning or afternoon tour start?
Written December 12, 2019
The sunset tour start time will vary based on when sunset is. It is a four hour tour. Other start times are on their website.
Written December 12, 2019
Is this half day tour for morning only or you have afternoon tour?
Written December 11, 2019
I believe there are half day tours for the morning and afternoon. Depending on what time of year, afternoon tours can be oppressively hot, but the SUVs are air conditioned.

Is it too cold in middle of November? Do you do this year round?
Written November 4, 2019
November might be chancy for weather, but their rigs are enclosed. Check the internet for weather during the time you are planning on. They take 4 passengers each, so if you have a bif group plan on 2 rigs. Have Fun!
