Wow. Was not sure what to anticipate but this was over the top. Our guide Ben was a great driver and though the trail was trecherous ( at least to us) we felt very safe. Ben had great stories to tell. Lunch was chicken ceasar salad in a wrap which was pefect. We also had plenty of cold water and small bags of snacks and desserts as well as fruit. Ben's driving skills, enthusiasm and knowledge of the area made this a memorable experience.
The tour has a three person minimum. We recieved an email telling us we were the only ones signed up and we could choose a different tour, pay the additional amount or hope for another person to join. I called and spoke with a very helpful person to discuss options. Because we had another tour and reservations through Arches we decide to pay the extra fee. Thankfully another couple booked the tour so we were not charged the additional amount.
You may want to consider additional days in Moab since there is so much to see and do.

Explored the “back country” of Canyonlands Natl Park with access via 4x4 (adventurous and fun). Buzz, our guide and skilled 4x4 driver, was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the park, geology and natural history, but took care of us all day and was a joy to be with! This trip is highly worth it...see things you won’t get to see without a million other tourists (we saw very few people on this trip and it was Memorial Day—unlike when we went to Arches the next day with hoards of humans), get a private guide, hike through spaces and places you’d probably never find on your own and appreciate the beauty and scenery of this National Park. A full day—bring a good water container (you can refill on the land cruiser), wear sunscreen and a hat, and be prepared for a rigorous hike. This tour was worth every penny we paid and more!

NO stars go to Brian Martinez, the host in the NAVTECH office (tour operator). He was extremely rude and arrogant. Worst customer service experience ever!

On the positive side, 5 stars go to our tour guide, Ben, who was just awesome - a real confident pro 4x4 driver that made us feel safe and in good hands! We heard stories, told jokes, screamed to extreme maneuvers (adrenaline through the roof!), had a great time overall, and enjoyed every minute of the trip very much! Thank you, Ben!

We did the Elephant Hill drive to Chessler Park and the Joint trail. Our guide, Justin, was phenomenal. I cannot say enough about what an incredible guide he was and super friendly/personable. I would definitely do another trip and request him.

Now, about Elephant Hill, I would say this is not for the feint of heart. I Had researched the trip and watched You Tube videos to make sure this wasn’t going to be too intense for my family. I will say the videos don’t do it justice. This is a very intense drive right off the bat. As soon as you leave the parking lot to ascend the trail, it is steep, uneven terrain with drop offs. I felt like I was strapped in to a rollercoaster and wanted to get off! I was terrified for the first 10 minutes. I would describe myself as a fairly adventurous person, (2 days earlier we went rappelling), and this is legitimately the scariest activity I have done

Before getting started on our hike, Justin set up a great picnic lunch and then we hit the trail which was spectacular. There was some scrambling, climbing and hiking through narrow passageways. My kids loved this. The views of the Needles and Chessler Park were spectacular.

That being said, it was an awesome day. We are a family of 4 with a 9 and 12 year old. To get to the Joint trail via hike would have been too much for us, so this was a reasonable alternative that included the fun of a 4x4 experience.

I will say, after getting over the initial shock of elephant hill I really enjoyed the trip. There are a few other questionable sections in the trail, and you have to exit the same way you entered, so elephant hill must be completed a second time along with the frightening descent down to the parking lot.

Justin shared that this is one of the most technical trails in the area. I felt that our family was in good hands with his expert knowledge and safety training. He was always calm and in control which helped to allay my fears and as the day went on I actually enjoyed some of the obstacles.

I wish we had more time in Moab. I would love to do the half day Arches tour as well. We will just have to come back for that and I hope Justin is still there!

I won’t go into detail about the wild ride over Elephant Hill, SOB Hill and Silver Stairs - it’s an ‘E‘ ticket ride worth every penny. I had no idea one could do such extreme things with a 4 x 4 and still get home! Our driver/ guide Charlotte did a first rate job safely driving us all day as well as providing geology & history background and funny comments/ stories throughout the day. Highly recommend Charlotte!

My wife and I are average senior hikers, we do 2 mile moderate hikes/ dog walks per day at home and occasionally knock out a 4-5 mile moderate hike but weren’t sure we’d be able to walk the “slot” hike without slowing the others down. The hike was easier than we anticipated. Charlotte maintained a reasonable pace and the main challenge was on the return trip back in navigating down a short section of steep rocks above a short narrow log ramp where it was challenging to see where to put your feet. Charlotte and our fellow hiker Phil (thanks Phil!) helped my wife and I navigate the hidden steps. Walking the long narrow deep slot portions of the hike was a total trip and the Chesler Park view at the mid point was incredible. Best part is we never saw another person outside our group thru the entire hike - a true “wilderness experience” for us suburb dwellers!

Would definitely recommend you add this tour to your bucket list and go with Navtec, you won’t regret it.

My wife and I had an awesome experience all around with Navtec , from friendly office staff, easy going and qualified driver to seeing incredible scenery. Josh P. was our driver, and he has great knowledge about the area and very easy to talk to, besides showing us incredible driving skills. This tour was money well spent; we would never have been able to access the area otherwise. It was worth all the bouncing around! They fed us a tasty lunch, water to refill water bottles. Our truck had minor mechanical problems during the trip but both drivers got under the truck and took care of it! Shout out to Charlotte, the driver of the second vehicle during our tour: she has mad driving and mechanical skills!
Thanks Josh and Charlotte, we would book another tour with either of you as our guides.

What a great day with so much screaming and laughter! We were treated to some crazy driving over rocks and cliff sides by our very capable guide, Charlotte. She made it look so easy and we had such a blast rocking and bumping in the 4X4. Charlotte is also very knowledgeable about the geology of the area; it's always more interesting when a guide can provide information on what you're looking at. My best experience was learning how to clamber up and down rocks, with a lot of trust in Charlotte to guide me. The tips I got from that really came in handy when we went into The Fiery Furnace on our own the next day! Charlotte also prepared a nice lunch; with tablecloth and plastic plates that can be reused. Overall, there was never a dull moment. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone who likes thrills and fun with a great guide!

We actually took two trips with Navtec during our visit to Moab. A full day at the Needles district in Canyonlands NP, and a 1/2 day backcountry 4WD trip to Arches. In both cases, there was no better way to see the park than to have experienced guides show us the highlights.

For Needles, our guide Chris was amazing! Showing us some special places and taking us to country and hikes we could not have reached on foot. He took extra care to give us a fun drive without excessive jostling.

For Arches, our veteran guide, Ben, a lifelong resident of the area, showed us some places that very few people are able to see. He shared some great stories and took the abilities of the group into consideration in choosing our route.

There is no better way to see this country.

This is one of the best tours I have ever experienced. It was the right combination of thrilling with the 4X4 and exploration with the hiking. What really made this an amazing experience was Ben--he is a GEM!! I'm sure my husband and I would've loved this trip regardless but Ben made it that much more special with his wealth of knowledge of the area. I really enjoyed listening to all his fun facts and history of the city and surroundings. His passion for Moab and the parks was contagious. I would do this trip again in a heart beat so you definitely do not want to miss out on this!

Took the whole family on the Elephant Hill adventure. Everyone loved it. I was so pleased that Charlotte was our guide as she has guided me before. The family loved learning from her. She is so knowledgeable about all desert topics (geology, human history, flora and fauna etc). She is also a rad 4x4 driver! Elephant Hill was a rowdy route and we were all grateful to have an expert. The short hike through the Joint was a treat and I am so glad my family got to see a piece of Chesler Park. As always, Navtec is easy to book with, provides great pre-trip information, is competitive in cost, feeds you plentifully, takes excellent care of all the details, and demonstrates stewardship of our public lands. I look forward to future trips. Definitely ask for Charlotte!
