About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Brian V0 contributionsGreat Adventure with viewsVery friendly tour guides who ensured safety but also valued fun. Many personal picture opportunities, but also they made a video of our adventure for us for extra money.Written October 4, 2024
- curmudgeonlydrift0 contributionsWell done Marianas TrekkingVery well looked after by Armand. who was friendly and took some great photos for me as a souvenir. The grotto itself is good fun, and certainly worth a visit. It was a little crowded so I'd recommend going early. Armand certainly gave me the space to make the most of my visit while keeping a close eye on me. RecommendedWritten April 28, 2024
- T3833AMkatied0 contributionsGreat time at the grottoMy partner and I had a great time with Marianas trekking at the grotto. I felt very safe getting in the water over the rocks with them & we had such a fun time. Very knowledgeable and flexible. They took some great pictures of us underwater that we will treasure. Highly recommend!Written April 16, 2024
- davidrontheroad0 contributionsA fabulous experience, thanks to a great crew, and a special place. What a fabulous experience we had on the half-day snorkeling tour of the Blue Grotto in the capable hands of Marianas Trekking. We were a group of seven who especially appreciated the care and bonhomie from five of their crew. Jojo, via email in planning, was excellent, wisely recommending the afternoon tour as it was often less crowded, and we'd have the grotto to ourselves on this day, John blew amazing underwater bubbles for great photos, drove us around, and shared interesting bits of his life. Leo was super helpful, and Sandy too, being principal photographer/videographer. Arman helped with tech and dropped us at the ship. Everyone was simply wonderful to be with, as seems true throughout Saipan. Even the owner, Chris, took time to give us a trio of tips for our visit. The Blue Grotto is a fabulous and unique place, which I hope you too can experience. The trio of other stops at Bird Island, the Last Command Post, and Banzai Cliff were also good, adding history and culture to our tour. Lastly, big kudos to the well done theater experience, complete with popcorn, to view the photos and videos from the tour. We have superb memories, thanks to you all.Written February 21, 2024
- LonnaDa0 contributionsSnorkeling: Me, Myself, and II went on the Marianas Trekking Saipan Tour - Blue Grotto Snorkeling on a Sunday in November. Sadly I was the only one on the tour but I'm glad Marianas Trekking didnt cancel the snorkeling tour. My snorkeling guide Arman was very nice and great at guiding me. Unfortunately, the current was very strong and waves were crazy so there wasn't alot of fish. But I still had fun and it was beautiful.Written November 12, 2023
- NurseBecca19730 contributionsA worthwhile trek! The experience was amazing. Having a good guide is a must and Arman was amazing. I will cherish this memory with my son forever. The views, water, fish….. just awe-inspiring!Written April 13, 2023

- cheriemorte0 contributionsOut of This World Customer ServiceI was booked to do an experience with Mariana's Trekking in March 2020 that got cancelled for obvious reasons. When it was time to rebook my trip, I decided to check in and see if I could book the same experience with them. I ended up booking more than I was originally scheduled for because these folks were so wonderful, flexible, and offering awesome experiences at a time when it is (understandably!) really hard to find things to do that are not shut down. I did the Grotto snorkeling, off road buggy, and hike to Forbidden Island and would recommend all of them. I had a different guide for each adventure and they were all great in their own ways. Randy took me snorkeling and was very fun to talk to, he looked out for me so I could just focus on the experience. Jerry was super patient helping me learn the off-road buggy (I don't drive and this was my first time, so he had his work cut out). Johnny was my guide on the Forbidden Island Trek, he kept the conversation flowing and knew so much about the area so he was able to point out a bunch of great stuff. The hike is challenging, as they say on the website, but so rewarding. It was the thing I almost didn't book but ended up being my favorite experience. Every single person I interacted with thought of ways to make me feel comfortable and help me enjoy my trip, both the guides and the support staff. Jojo was so accommodating and quick to respond to questions, their service really was above and beyond--and that was true with how flexible they were in our interactions both before and after COVID. If you get a chance to go on an adventure with these guys, I really recommend it. They made my time in Saipan exponentially better than it would have been.Written February 22, 2022
- mmee010 contributionsAwesome Morning Hike & SnorkelGreat Morning overall. We did a pickup at our hotel, they were on time. We went back to the office to watch a safety video and meet our guide Johnny who rocked. Then we drove to Forbidden Island. It's definitely a steep hike up and down. You want to wear good shoes, no smooth bottoms. Going down I was fine, coming up I needed to take a couple extra breaks but still made it up in about 30 mins when they said it normally takes 20-25. Luckily the water was good for snorkeling so we hopped in for a while and saw some fish. Of you're not a strong swimmer you can grab a lifejacket at the shop to bring with you. This was definitely a hogblwof our trip and totally glad we did it with a guide, I wouldn't feel safe doing it alone, I'm not familiar with the area or the water. Johnny was great! He was funny, very knowledgeable and made sure we were safe and all having a great time!Written January 23, 2020
- SEAchange20180 contributionsDefinitely do this, reccomended. This was well worth the effort to do. A bit of a hike to get there but nothing someone with an average level of fitness can do if you take your time. Big shout out to our guide Johnny, did a great job and safety was always front of mind, he looked after us well. Suggestion to the team there, rather than having to buy the whole slide show of pictures, allow a pick and choose on line for individual pics, just a suggestion. Overall, very professional set up and execution, reccomended.Written January 18, 2020
- MarcusWillTravel0 contributionsExcellent people to do a snorkelling and buggy trips withWe found this company online and pleased we did. We were only on Saipan for one day and they helped us make the most of it. The staff picked us up from our accommodation right on time and took us to their base. We were given a safety briefing before heading to the Grotto for snorkelling. It was busy, but we in a small group which made things much easier. The crew took some great photos which can be bought afterwards. We saw them on a big screen with free popcorn. As part of the snorkelling tour we also got to see Bird Island Sanctuary, Suicide Cliff and Bonzai Point. Shortly after we went for a buggy trip. Safety came first - there was a briefing video and short tour of their grounds before we headed off into the countryside. First stop was amongst some different varieties of fruit trees where coconuts where cut open and we had the water from them. The highlight was heading down to wing beach. Stunning location and we had it to ourselves. The crew were great. Reassuring and very helpful. Worth going with these guys so you're in a smaller group rather herded around in a big number.Written September 8, 2019
- Z7454QZnicholasb0 contributionsAmazing Experience and Saipan IntroMy wife and I did this tour on our first full day on Saipan. No one else signed up for Forbidden Island, so it was just us and our fantastic guide, Johnny. He did a great job and wanted to make sure we had a great experience. The hike was short and steep; I’d rate it a medium. The views were spectacular! Snorkeling in the small pool was a fun way to cool off. Johnny made sure to time our visit to the Grotto when other customers would be at a minimum. After trekking down the stairs, we had the Grotto to our small group and a few divers for about 30 minutes before a few other small groups arrived. As we were departing, hordes of people were pouring down the stairs. The colors of the water here are spectacular!Written September 3, 2019
- LaMujer0 contributionsFun¡ Safe¡ Adventure¡This was our first ATV off roading! It was ABSOLUTELY fun! I want to go again!! The guides made sure we were safe. They also made it fun! Advice for your off roading- Croc closed to shoe, shades, possibly swim wear under clothing (they take you to the beach for about 15 to 20 minutes), clothing for mudding, water cover for cell phone, fanny pack, and a bottle water. If you don’t have these items, they will supply you with some of them. Also, at the end you will have the option of buying photos from the adventure. We purchased the entire data package. Great time!!!!!!!!!!Written August 6, 2019
- dreikaiserbund730 contributionsEnjoy the trekkingI book the Fobbiden Island tour from their website. The information is clear and the staff reply very quick. I enjoy the trekking very much. The path is not hard than I expected, so relaxing. You can also swim on the shore with many fishes. The guide Johnny is very nice and take good care of me. I think it is necessary to go to Fobbiden Island when you come to Saipan.Written March 23, 2019
- Jessica L0 contributionsGrotto snorkelingThe trips need to be updated with this group. They may not offer all that is described. The trips are good but expensive for what they are. They prefer customers who dont mind paying and then receiving a basic tour. They will be many excuses to get you to accept very little eventhough you pay a decent price. But just more of the same on Saipan. All tourists are ATM machines leaving in a day or two.Written March 20, 2019

Even with the electric assist on the E-bikes there were some hills to climb going up Marpi Point but the views were worth it! Grotto snorkeling would be scary without a guide so we were thankful to have gone with Mariannas Trekking!

Thanks for the nice review. Biking on the North Coast is a pretty great way to see some of the great spots on Saipan! Thanks for going on an adventure with us! I'll share your feedback with the guides.
