About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- iminchao0 contributionsIt truly is the BEST of "Best 1-Day Yosemite National Park Private Tour"We have always wanted to visit Yosemite! We originally booked a private tour with another company; however, two days before our scheduled trip that tour operator wanted to change our tour date because of a double booking situation. We did not want to give up our hope to visit Yosemite so we scrambled to find another private tour. We struck gold at the Golden State because we had an amazing time visiting Yosemite National Park with Alcatraz Tours!! Adam is our tour guide. Our tour began at 7a with pickup service at our hotel. Adam was punctual, professional, fun and friendly, thoughtful, and very knowledgeable. We hit all the popular sites. Thank you Adam for making our visit to Yosemite so memorable!!Written July 18, 2024
- R1510NThelenaa0 contributionsAmazing!Mary deserves 5 stars for sure. I will definitely recommend Mary to anyone who signs up. She was kind & amazing. The only thing I would add is making Mission Dolores a part of your tour. It’s beautiful & historically significant to what made San Francisco, San Francisco. Thank you for accommodating our request to visit it.Written December 30, 2023
- Stephen S0 contributionsGreat personal SF TourExcellent personal tour over 4 hours covering all San Francisco and our tour guide Buddy was exceptional as a guide and he was fabulous. The tour company even booked a lunch sitting before we got on the ferry to Alcatraz. Highly recommend this company.Written July 12, 2023
- katiecM1919FF0 contributionsGreat combo tour and great serviceOur tour began at @ 9:am with pick up service at our hotel. Buddy was our tour guide and he was fabulous!! He was very knowledgeable of all areas in and around San Francisco, including the history! He is multilingual and had a great sense of humor. The vehicle was clean and roomy for our family of four. It took @ 4 hours after touring San Francisco and we were dropped off at a restaurant near Fisherman's Wharf so we could eat lunch and make the Alcatraz ferry in time. We had about an hour for lunch. We were in walking distance and made it in time for our Alcatraz tour. Alcatraz is a wonderful site to see! Our whole family thought it was one of the highlights of our trip. I would recommend this combo tour. They took great care of us!!Written June 26, 2023
- Rod-BHill0 contributionsNice Cruise to and From Alcatraz, Have Both Indoor and Outdoor Seating and Well as Food AvailableWe purchased our Alcatraz Island Tour directly from Alcatraz tours and saved some monies ... we boarded the 10:30 tour on a Tuesday and had plenty of room on the boat both to / from the Island. The Boats appear to be well maintained and the insides are nice and roomy and have some tables to sit at for the 15 - 20 minute ride to the Island from Pier 33. They also have a small snack bar on the boat where you can purchase a hot dog, hamburger, chips, sodas etc ....Written May 3, 2023
- msalex_p0 contributionsAwesome experience!Awesome tour! The audio commentary is very detailed. Overall with ferry ride tour was about 2 hours. Ferry ride is only about 15 mins each way.Written March 27, 2023
- L77leb0 contributionsGood but freezing coldWe did the Alzatraz behind the scenes tour. I loved the tour, our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. What really let the day down was our tour finished at 1700. There was no ferry until 1840. There was nowhere to go and we had to sit on the freezing Dock for 1 hour 40 mins, honestly it was miserable it was so cold. There should be a ferry at 1730.Written February 13, 2023
- Susie J0 contributionsAlcatraz ferry, self tour and visit very goodWe had booked while in San Fran on visit from uk, easy to do. We thought 2 1/2 hours and arrive don plenty of time to board ferry. I’m fact when we arrived at the terminal we got on an earlier just across. You are not allowed to take in food and drink except water. Cafe at port in San Fran is closed although there are restrooms. We purchased coffee and a croissant, ham cheese sandwich was naff (other fare available)on trip across which takes about 15 minutes, was smooth journey and coffee was safe with a lid. On landing there is a guide to greet you expanding a few important details and restrooms. At this point you can join a guided tour in English, I found this a bit quiet to hear so self touted until reaching too and took the guided tour on headphones - very good and highly recommend this, you can pause and play as you go and was fascinating! Its the most visited American tourist attraction and I can see why…we actually were there 3 1/4 hours. Smoking for those that do is only allowed on one small part at base on Alcatraz.Written October 20, 2022
- terrifields860 contributionsAlcatraz Night TourWe arrived at the loading dock about an hour before boarding. We got first choice of seat on the ferry, but they let people stand so no worries about having to be outside on the upper deck if it is cold/foggy/drizzling even if you board last. They sell drinks & snacks on the boat but no bathroom on the boat so go before you board. Once on Alcatraz there is an actual tour guide that starts & leads you in & then you are given a device to hold up to your ear to listen as you go through the prison. Its informative & interesting. We finished before the tour time was up but you arent allowed to get in the boat early so there was some time standing outside waiting to board. It was dark & foggy which set the night tour tone but nothing about it was scary. We enjoyed our tour & would recommend!Written October 10, 2022
- JaspC10 contributionsAlcatraz Day TourFirst visit to Alcatraz and we weren't disappointed! Really good audio tour that gave an interesting glimpse in to some of the characters/inmates and what life was like on the Rock. Although some areas were closed off there was a good amount to see and having watched a couple of movies, it was quite exciting to be there. Downsides were the flies....constantly buzzing around your head...they give you a returnable cardboard fan ..make sure you take it to swat the flies away. No real references to any of the films that were based on the rock which would have been good. Great points was the detailed audio, the cell visit and the views over to the city..quite spectacular. Definitely a worthwhile 2 and a half hour tour if you're visiting San Fran.Written August 30, 2022

Bonne visite We were very impressed by our tour of Alcatraz Island prison. Visiting Alcatraz is truly a moving experience; it's both sad and intriguing. Our boat trip took about 20 minutes to Alcatraz Island. Visitors are asked to wear a mask while visiting the prison. The visit inside was well organized, and the story is perfectly told and put into context with the help of an audio guided tour in many languages including French. Be aware that Alcatraz Island is only accessible by a single ferry company, but Alcatraz tickets often sell out weeks, sometimes months in advance. If you haven't booked your Alcatraz tickets in advance, this tour operator offers guided tours of San Francisco combined with Alcatraz. We were lucky to find tickets to Alcatraz at the last minute thanks to this company.Written January 16, 2022
- 773sandra0 contributionsTrip to Muir Woods national park.We regret we cannot the tour guide we had. He was excellent and we have never seen such a clean Mercedes BMW van. We went to the Muir Woods and he gave us enormous information as we made the trip. Booked through Viator. We left sunglasses in our van and had already gone to our next destination. He went above and beyond to call us and even drive to leave the glasses at our hotel. Wonderful trip!!!! The woods are well worth the walk!Written October 19, 2021
- Chicago10390 contributionsThe best way to see SFWe booked a SF half day tour as Alcatraz tickets were sold out. Our guide Adam was knowledgeable and entertaining. We were able to hit all of the major highlights in around four hours including stops for pictures and background Adam wanted to point out. I would highly recommend this as the best way to see SF as doing it yourself would be absolutely exhausting and time consuming.Written June 7, 2021
