- Companion550426643910 contributionsExcellent Yosemite tour with guide KurtExcellent tour, our guide Kurt was knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Communication in advance was very good and additional pictures and info sent after the trip was very nice. I would highly recommend Bay Area Tours!Written October 12, 2024
- H2136NTbelindac0 contributionsViktor enhanced our experience. The weather was beautiful and the scenery spectacular. Viktor made the day even more special with his knowledgeable commentary, his humour and the care for his guests. I could not fault any aspect of the day. Sincerest thanks.Written October 10, 2024
- Cheryl N0 contributionsAn amazing day!Our tour guide Phil Siegel was fantastic!!! What we loved the most was his enthusiasm for the sites and wanting us to get the most out of our time. One of the best sights was the climbers on El Capatan. Phil brought out telescopes and binoculars for even better views. The whole trip, 14 hours, was entertaining from the music on the bus to Phil's retelling of stories and legends to a movie at the end Recommend this trip!!Written October 10, 2024
- 606jodief0 contributionsPerfect Tour and Perfect Guide - Worth the Long Day!I could not flaw this day nor the tour host, Viktor. The day was seamless from pick-up to drop-off. at 5:40am Viktor picked us up from outside the hotel and even that early in the morning, had a bright smile. After everyone was picked up, we headed on our way where Viktor explained the itinerary for the day. The first stop is at Raley's in Oakdale (the perfect place to pick up a hand-made sandwich for lunch in the park) followed by a quick trip to Sons Farm Fresh market, where they gave us fresh fruit to try and a walk around their pumpkin patch and petting zoo. From there we continued upwards into the mountains where the park speaks for itself. For entertainment on the journey, Viktor told us many interesting facts about Yosemite National Park and played some interesting documentaries. We honestly saw everything one could possibly want to see in one day at the parks, lots of photo opportunities and a good amount of free-time to eat lunch and explore with your own family/couple. Luckily, we was ahead of time, so we was able to visit the Yosemite National Park sign for a photo before heading off to the Giant Sequoia Tree walk - which you should definitely not underestimate! It is a 400ft decline over a mile long which makes for a tough walk back up. If you can manage the walk, definitely do not miss out on this opportunity! Finally, we was on the way home and stopped in Oakdale once more to get dinner (there are a few local places alongside Wendys, Burger King and others). After that, we was back in the hotel by before 9pm. A very long day, but one well worth it. I couldn't have asked for a better group tour. Thank you!Written October 10, 2024

- Happyhols120 contributionsFantastic day in YosemiteThis trip was great. We were initially going to drive to Yosemite but decided to take the trip due to time restrictions…so glad we did. Brian was our driver/tour guide. He was so knowledgeable and helpful, he really did go above and beyond! Yosemite is a beautiful place, we got to see all the main sights, the bus journey was comfortable with plenty of stops along the way. Yes it’s a long day but totally worth it. Great memories, thanks Brian!Written October 7, 2024
- isaacmcn0 contributionsDay trip to Yosemite from San Fran was awesome! We had such a great time on our day trip to Yosemite National Park and we’re glad we chose Best Bay Area Tours with a small tour group of around 15 people. Our guide, Calder, was really great and shared his knowledge of various areas that we drove through on our way to Yosemite and the various places we stopped in Yosemite. The mini van was comfortable enough (the seats at the back of the van were directly underneath the aircon unit which was quite loud) and the ~4 hour drive each way seemed to pass by pretty quickly. About halfway to Yosemite we stopped at Oak Ridge Plaza in Oakdale which has restrooms and a number of shops including a supermarket where you can purchase coffee, food, etc, there is also a KFC and Wendy’s across the car park area. We were super lucky with the weather as we had beautiful clear skies and hot temperatures. In Yosemite we stopped at Tuolomne Grove Trailhead to take a walk amongst the giant sequoia trees (the walk is medium level difficulty as the trail takes you downhill to the largest sequoia but then you need to walk uphill on the return leg), Tunnel View for an awe inspiring view of the valley, El Capitan and a few other places (all of which were great). We then had around 1.5 hours free time around Yosemite lodge area where we decided to go on a few short walks, walked through crystal clear waters of the river and purchased food at the lodge’s restaurant. We felt that 1 day for the trip was perfect for us as we didn’t have alot of time on our trip to San Fransisco and it gave us a good opportunity to get a feel for Yosemite. Having said that we’d love to go back at some stage and spend some more time exploring the area.Written October 5, 2024
- zutaor0 contributionsGreat way to take in areas outside San Francisco.Kurt was a great guide. He was informative and very flexible, taking in the group’s needs. The Armstrong redwoods was a quiet, short walk (45 min) but lovely in that it was not crowded so you were able to take the enormity and peacefulness of the forest. After picking up lunch at a quaint little town we stopped at a beach and being a sunny day we relaxed in the sun and enjoyed the beach. Quick stops at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge and a walk through Sausalito. Fun day!Written October 5, 2024
- MRP1234567890 contributionsGreat day out with amazing guideThis is a great tour and Kurt our guide was just phenomenal. He was entertaining, informative, and very attentive to our needs. We went to some great photo spots and did a stunning walk too. Lots of in-bus videos on Yosemite too. A long day but worth every minute! MartinWritten October 5, 2024
- PEGATOR0 contributionsYosemite with Back bay Tours. The longest of days! The bestest of days! What a great tour! As we talked the next morning, we decided we wouldn’t change a thing. Viktor was a great guide for the day #A-ma-zing! He communicated prior to the trip and was prompt, courteous, friendly, informative, funny, etc He made everyone feel comfortable in his “international family.” There were people from around the world on our trip. We made the trip so enjoyable . The trip was long but the stops along the way in the Cowboy capital of the world for breakfast and dinner, the on board informative videos and movies and Viktor’s well timed information, the trip was well timed. The whole point of the trip was Yosemite and the Giant Sequoias. And it did not disappoint. We stopped at key places to take in all the views. We had plenty of time to explore as a group and on our own. The views are breathtaking! One highlight was looking through Viktor’s telescope to see rock climber’s on El Capitan. What a great trip! Book it today!Written October 4, 2024
- Caroline D0 contributions5 starsThis was one of the best day trips I’ve ever been on. I only booked the day before, and most tours were full up. I tried using one of the street vendors, who also couldn’t help me out, but a random contact from the bike shop helped me out. When I told the street vendor that I was going with this company she replied’ oh, they are the best, by name and by nature’. Every bit of the day was so well timed and planned out. Our guide, Calder, was a legend and so knowledgeable. It was a long day but well, well worth it.Written October 3, 2024
- 937shelbys0 contributionsPerfect day!Definitely a 10/10, I would do it again! You get to see a lot of the park for just a day trip, the views are incredible and there's a good balance of group and on your own time. Food options at the grocery stop were good. Kurt was awesome!!! He made the trip fun, comfortable and he knew so much about the park and SF.Written October 1, 2024

- rubyw2130 contributionsIncredible experience - definitely worth itThe small-group day trip to Yosemite was amazing. Although it was a super long day - we got picked up around 5:30am and dropped back 9:30pm, it was definitely worth it to get out to Yosemite. Yosemite is beautiful - being from Australia I've never seen trees so tall! The "rocks" (they're really like mountains) are also incredible. As a nature-lover, it was definitely worth the trip. Doing a small-group tour was really valuable also. It meant that we got to know everyone on our trip, including our tour guide, and felt welcome asking him lots of questions. Our tour guide, Viktor, was awesome - very funny, friendly and lively. He was also super knowledgeable and I appreciated getting to learn the information and history of Yosemite, which comes with doing a tour vs just going yourself. It was a great experience.Written September 30, 2024

Joe, our tour guide, was lovely! He put a lot of effort into making the drive interesting. The redwoods portion was awesome. Really pretty forest with the type of massive redwoods I was hoping to see. The hike was pretty and easy to follow without stressing about getting lost. Joe did a great job of setting this up for us with water and maps. He even took a photo of us at a large stump where you can capture the height of the trees. The wineries were okay. It really depends on what you’re looking for. I was hoping to be able to walk around a bit and see pretty vineyards. The first two wineries you do not spend any time on the vineyard. The first winery we just had many wine samples with our lunch in a tiny courtyard, and the second winery we were literally inside at the counter just sampling glass after glass. The wine was great, but I could have done that anywhere. The last winery was more my style since we got to walk around and explore a bit and see the plants and animals on the grounds. This one was also the prettiest by far. I guess if you just want to drink a ton of wine, this would be perfect. If you want to walk around outside and explore wineries with rolling hills or gorgeous views, not your tour.

We are very careful when we select the wineries we choose for our tour. We try to give passengers three very unique experiences. One is the very small family owned winery, one is a production facility, and one is a grand tasting room. All three have great wines, but we provide three very different experiences. We are sorry you had other expectations, but most of our passengers prefer a wide variety of wine experiences. As you said in your review, you drink “a ton of wine” which is why we assumed you came on the tour. Hopefully you did enjoy the wine that you were sampling.

This tour to Armstrong Woods and two wineries was an amazing time! Phil was an outstanding tour guide and kept us entertained and well-informed. The picnic lunch was breathtaking overlooking the vineyard and the tastings were also enjoyable. Our group was also a fabulous bunch! I highly recommend this tour if you’re looking to get outside of the city for the day to take in the gorgeous scenery of wine country.

We recently booked for a day wine tasting and Phil was an extraordinary host and guide! Phil was awesome in helping us plan the itinerary and finding great choices that met our group’s particular tastes. We visited La Crema, then a fabulous food and wine pairing lunch at Kendall Jackson, followed by a tasting at Three Sticks. Phil created a fun, super comfortable, COVID safe adventure for us to enjoy. His playlists were so great he had us singing along to a number of them. 🙂 A great day was enjoyed by one and all, and it was so amazing to find safe ways to be together, wine taste freely, and not worry for a moment about any driving! Excited to book again soon!

Great Day at Muir Woods and Wine Country. Don was our Tour Guide. He's fantastic!! As we were driving out of SF, he explained history of the city, various architecture, places to visit. While on our way to Muir Woods, he explained Redwoods, how the grow, what makes them so special, creation of the park and preservation, etc. And on our way to Sonoma he explained the microclimates, what makes Sonoma and Napa unique, etc. What a wonderful day!! Thank you Don and Best Bay Area Tours.

Sonoma is open, folks! Our group of four took this tour in late August 2021. Anthony was a great tour guide. He's knowledgeable, and his dry humor was a hit. We enjoyed the wineries we visited, with Homewood Ranch being the best in our book because they take the time to teach you how to taste wine. Plus their wines were so good that we took three bottles to go! I've enjoyed Best Bay Area Tours before, and I'll say I liked a prior tour more (Armstrong Forest, provided box lunch, and 3 wineries). I hope that a similar tour can return when this virus subsides and people start traveling more again. But it will probably take good folks to get out and visit SF and take these tours! Either way, we still enjoyed our tour very much, and I'm always pleased by the tour guides they choose!

We are so glad you like this tour. Armstrong had a fire last year and it’s not open. We will go back there the day that they tell us we can. And at that time, we will revive the three winery/lunch option.

What a perfectly balanced tour! We had a wonderful day with Phil as our guide. Pick up was easy and a tour through the Muir Woods was a perfect start (before all the crowds) to center our morning before heading to the BEST winery we've been to all over the world-- definitely the highlight of the trip. The town square of Sonoma was a great relaxing way to shop and eat in a small town but walkable and trendy area. We finished up the day with two more lovely wineries before another beautiful drive home across the bridge. We'd go on the same trip again it was so lovely!

We had so much fun on this tour. We visited the Armstrong Redwoods park which was uncrowded and beautiful. Our wine tour included a four course wine pairing at Kendall Jackson which was spectacular! Having participated in many tours throughout our travels, we can attest to the fact that the tour guide makes or breaks the experience. There was no exception in this case. Our guide Phil was fantastic!! He was knowledgeable without being overbearing, and he provided great music during our travel time. He was prompt for pickup and accommodating during drop off. I left my sweater on the bus after the tour and he even went to the trouble of dropping it off at our hotel the next morning...THAT IS SERVICE!! Great job Best Bay Area Tours and make sure you hang on to Phil!

This was an amazing tour! Our tour bus driver, Anthony kept us all happy throughout the trip with great service, pro-tips, and radio-announcer quality narration. If you want to go vineyard-hopping all day, then this is not the tour. If you don’t have a rental car, but have an interest in seeing the actual redwoods (not the fake ones in the city) and visiting 2 quality vineyards, THIS IS the tour for you!
Eat a good breakfast before! The first stop was a golden gate overlook right after crossing over it. Armstrong Park was quite serene, the perfect way to start a morning. Then we went to Hook & Ladder, a cute boutique winery, and Kendall Jackson, a big name estate vineyard. Lunch was served by Anthony at the first vineyard, right when the wine started to hit. The tour picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel in Fishermans Wharf. We were back with time in the evening to enjoy a happy hour cocktail.

This was a great tour! The tour guide Brian was awesome and communicated all the details of the trip a head of time (like pick up time) so well. The stops at the Golden Gate Bridge had excellent views, the Redwoods were amazing and the wine was perfect. I was a little leery about this tour being a long day but it really wasn't at all since it is planned out so well with travel and stops. I would highly recommend this tour.

It was such a pleasure to go on this tour. The group was small and we spent ample time at the redwoods and on the wine tours. The redwood forest was so quiet and very few people. So glad they took us there.
The tour guide (Phil) was upbeat and helpful and also knew when to give people time to experience and go off on their own.
It was the best part of our trip!

Hi we are a little group from Argentina (2 or 3 ppl), and we are really interested in taking this tour the 12/03. It is posibble to stay a little longer in the forest, and reduce that time from one winery ?? or do you have any other tour option with more time in that woods ? I would really like to know, thanks.
