What to Expect
Board your ferry at Pier 33 and enjoy postcard-worthy views of San Francisco and Golden Gate Bridge during your brief voyage across the bay to Alcatraz Island. Walk from the dock up the steep hill to the building’s entrance and grab a pair of headphones to learn about the infamous inmates once housed at “The Rock,” including Al Capone, Robert Stroud and the three inmates whose escape was immortalized in pop lore. After catching your return ferry, prepare for some excellent beer and a guided stroll through neighborhoods that could include Fisherman's Wharf, SoMa, or the Mission District. Where you imbibe depends on the day of your tour, but all areas include craft beer samples at various locales paired with tasty snacks.
