    Touring yosemite park, via bus
The views were exceptional in the park. We felt rushed from point to point to make up for lost time ( due to traffic delays); The bus had no working bathroom on a 4 hour drive from San Fran. The AC was not sufficient to keep people cool On Saturday, The wait to get into the park was awful….two hour wait to enter the park. The number of vehicles moving around created difficulty navigating . Way too much traffic within the park I would NEVER go again on a weekend due to traffic jam . We left San Fran at 5:30 am, retuned at 10:30 pm If I go in the future, it will be by ourselves ( not a tour) Driver was knowledgeable and entertaining …but difficult to understand ( accent)

Get there early morning for best parking spots.I would say between 7-8am.
It seemed like it wasn't real. El Capitan, amazing vertical view from the road. Viewing the many waterfalls was a joy beyond expectation .The closer u got wind and mist was prolific. Crowded yes but people were very calm and friendly.

    Muir Woods and WIne
My daughter and I had a great tour with Kimmy. Because she is from SF, she had a lot insight into the city and its history. We loved the Muir Woods tour. It was not too hot and the views were exquisite. I also enjoyed the varied vineyards that we visited. Kimmy was always on time and stressed that the tour team was also. Would definitely recommend.

Our guide made a great trip to Yosemite even more special!
Breathtaking views of granite formations, cascading waterfalls, hiking among giant sequoias — this Yosemite tour is one of the best organized tours I’ve ever been on, and a huge part of it was due to our guide Rob. My partner and I did a half tour on our way up, and he dropped us off at our hotel, where we spent a couple of nights. On our way back, he was right there waiting for us and we hopped on the bus and did the last half of our tour with a new group. Rob was extremely knowledgeable about the backroads and special, little known spots, in addition to the well-known landmarks. He has a vast knowledge of Yosemite the surrounding towns, and Northern California in general. But beyond his knowledge, he has a hilarious sense of humor, and was a great storyteller, weaving his personal experiences into what he was showing us. He was also very patient and at the same time managed to be prompt. This can be challenging with a bus load of people but he pulled it off. We had plenty of time along the way to do hikes, picture taking, and there were snack breaks in as well. Our entire trip was just perfect. We can’t say enough about Rob .The tour was well worth it — actually you get way MORE than your money’s worth!

Day trip to Yosemite with a great guide
An excellent tour for those short on time. The tour guide and driver (Rob) shared his stories of growing up and residing in and around Yosemite which made the trip very memorable His passion and knowledge of the park makes the tour feel personal and as though you're part of a small, exclusive group. You will see, hear and feel things that stay with you long after the tour ends. Rob was thoughtful in terms of his advice, and the tour includes a stop for snacks / food / drinks so there's no need to line up for meals in the park. It's a long day so be ready for that. There is genuine joy in the way Rob carries out the tour. There's no exaggerated hype or glossy tourist jargon, it's a tour by a bloke who loves Yosemite and is willing to share that with the people on board. Well done.

    Yosemite is a must see!!!
Yosemite is a national gem! The views were surreal, everywhere you looked was a pure vista. Visiting Yosemite was one of my bucket list items, but I was apprehensive about driving the high and windy roads. Having this trip helped ease my mind about my visit, and the tour guide was very friendly, and knowledgeable. We stopped at a grocery store before and after the trip, so we were giving time to get food and drinks. Also, the tour had plenty of waters for everyone on our bus. Overall, I greatly enjoyed this tour and being able to experience the Half Dome, El Capitan, and Sequoias in-person. Absolutely recommend!

    Great combo trip, great value
Tour was great! Roman was a great tour guide with a dry and witty sense of humor. He gave clear directions and times of departure from each location. Gave good tips and info about each stop. The wineries were great! Really enjoyed the trip. We were able to jam pack a bunch of things in this 1 trip. Highly recommend!

The trip was amazing. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, but hard to hear. Our charter bus was clean, comfortable and roomy for the trip. We made several stops and really enjoyed the day. Worth the money. Would highly recommend.

    Excellent guide and venues 👍
We were picked up with a shuffle bus at the pick up point as agreed through email correspondence.👍 We participated in the San Francisco wine tour with a visit to the Muir Woods. We had a guide named Dustin. He was excellent👍 He had superior knowledge of San Francisco , wine culture of Napa Valley and Sonoma and history of the Muir Woods. Good timing with an early arrival at the Muir Woods. We could walk alone in silence before the masses arrived 👌🏻

    Great Day!
Today's tour of Muir Woods and three wineries was great. Don was our driver. He is highly recommended. Great wineries and Sonoma for lunch was perfect. Muir Woods was awesome too. Our driver was a great guide with tons of knowledge of the area. Don was courteous, kind and thoughtful. In our group, two of us had a wheelchair and a motorized scooter wheelchair. He lifted them in/out of the back of the bus for storage and transport and made sure we had chairs to sit on during the winery tours. I was so impressed with his degree of customer service because it's so unusual these days. One suggestion....have a lift for putting motorized scooters in the vehicle. Someone is going to injure their back lifting them up and into it.

Our Extranomical tour of Monterey, Carmel, 17 Mile Drive, etc. was great. We've taken tours with them before and will continue to use them in the future. The motor coach was clean and comfortable.
George, our driver / guide did an excellent job- he pointed out points of interest, gave us history of the areas, described current events, and more to make our tour both enjoyable and educational.

In addition, one of the members of our party uses a folding wheelchair and the company and George handled the logistics of this perfectly.

Taking this tour with Extranomical is highly recommended.

The driver/tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and well spoken on a number of topics. He made the trip very interesting! He also made a number of stops along the way that enhanced the experience. It was unfortunate that the seal was broken on the my window of the bus which did not allow for clear viewing. And a young man in the seat ahead of the WOULD NOT SHUT UP the ENTIRE 10+ hours of the journey. If you're going to take this tour, be courteous to those around you. We DID NOT pay to hear YOU talk the entire effing time!!

Be prepared for a full day of driving. The many stops along the way were both breath-taking and needed to break up the drive, but you sure get to see all the gorgeous spots along Highway 1. The guide was interesting and had a great play list of California music for you to listen to as he drove. With only an hour and a half in Monterey, not sure the Aquarium is really doable.

First, I'd like to start this review by making it clear I don't make a habit of posting negative reviews. I much prefer to praise the exceptional experiences I've had over the past 6 years - please see my profile for evidence of this. I definitely don't make a habit of "trashing" restaurants, hotels, or tour operators.

However, my experience with Extranomical has been awful, and I would encourage anyone reading this NOT to book with them.

-----

Lesson #1 - Extranomical's Cancellation Policy is a Lie

First, let me write about the first tour I booked - Muir Woods and Winery Tour. Due to a change in vacation plans, I cancelled this tour over a week in advance and my refund was confirmed. I was glad I had booked Extranomical for this reason.

However, almost 4 weeks later I have still NOT received my refund, despite being told it had been "processed". Lesson #1 - the free cancellation is turning out to be a total lie (or at best, extremely arduous), so don't rely on this.

-----

Lesson #2 - Extranomical don't give you what you pay for

Now, onto the second tour which we did actually take - Monterey and Carmel Explorer.

A few days before the tour, we received an email from Extranomical to say we had been outsourced to their "sister company" Tower Tours. We were travelling by this point so had no choice but to go ahead with the trip. We figured it may still be okay.

We were picked up on the first day at the time advised and thought "Hey, this is actually a nice coach!". Unfortunately, the coach then dropped us at the Tower Tours office near Fisherman's Wharf, where we had to queue up to "register". We were clearly the last to be dropped off, as by the time we got on the rattly old tour bus, there were only a handful of single seats left, so my wife and I had to spend the journey apart. Lesson #2 is that Extranomical don't always put you on their own tours, regardless as to whether you book directly with them.

----

Lesson #3 - Extranomical Make Promises they Don't Keep

The tour was fine until we reached 17 Mile Drive. At this point the bus driver advised a belt was about to break in the engine and so we couldn't proceed with the tour. To save us waiting on the side of the road, the driver took us to Bird Rock, where we sat in the blistering heat with no shade or AC for 90 minutes while the driver tried to get updates from the operator. Please note, I do not hold the driver responsible for this, and he did try his best to rectify the situation.

Updates from the operator ranged from "You'll need to wait 3 hours for a replacement coach" to "The tour may be cancelled", none of which were consistent.

Eventually the tour group took it into their own hands. Some took an Uber back to San Francisco, some took an Uber across to Carmel to wait for the new coach to arrive. When the driver proposed this plan to the Operator, they promised refunds for all Ubers, which have yet to be received!!

We finally made it back to San Francisco at 10.30pm, which totally ruined our final night in San Francisco and the final night of our honeymoon.

Upon contacting them, Extranomical kindly agreed to provide a full refund for the tour within 7 days. However, (you'll probably see a theme here) we have yet to receive this promised refund almost 3 weeks later.

I realise that the bus incident is Tower Tours' responsibility, but Extranomical are accountable for everything before and after.

-----

TLDR?

In summary, Extranomical have over $400 of my money and despite telling me it has been "processed" almost a week ago after repeated chasing, I haven't received a refund.

If you are thinking of booking with Extranomical, I strongly suggest you reconsider. As per my opening paragraph, I am not one to scaremonger - however, I don't want anyone else to go through this same experience.

My final lesson... I now find it highly suspicious that Extranomical have so many positive TripAdvisor reviews from users who have only ever posted a single review... Check it out for yourself. I can't believe I never noticed that before, I feel like such an idiot.

If you do book with Extranomical, please be prepared to be outsourced, lied to, and ignored.

I'm happy to be contacted directly if you want any further information or recommendations for your trip.

David - We were sorry to hear you were disappointed by our service. However, we feel the need to straighten out the record. We completely refunded your payments for the canceled tour and Monterey (Transaction IDs 41579279867 and 41579275702) on September 13th, just days after your trip to SF. It can take up to 5-7 business days to show on your credit card account (a bank processing time that we do not control). If you do not see the credit by Monday, please contact our Guest Services department and ask for Gary. We fret over each and every guest and hope this has been sorted out to your satisfaction.

4 of us took the tour today. Firstly, we ended up seated at the back of the van which was fine if it had comfortable seating. One seat had such narrow spacing with the forward seat that it was impossible to sit facing front. Secondly, the back was so bumpy that it was not possible to enjoy the long ride.

There is only 1.5 hour stop allowed in Monterey so going to the aquarium was not possible. This will just be a lunch and browsing stop.

We had to skip the highlighted Pebble Beach drive as the US Masters were on BUT we were not told about this before booking the tour.

Carmel was a 2 hour stop over for shopping and a visit to the beach. I would give this an average.

Overall, you’ll spend more time on the road than enjoying the places.

Based on my experience I'd give this tour no stars. Why? Simply because they canceled it and I never got to see Monterey and Carmel. I know things can happen and mistakes can be made BUT NOT when you are told days in advance that your tour is confirmed as well as your hotel pickup time! I confirmed this tours days in advance and the day BEFORE the tour. I was told my pickup time and everything looked great until I received a text message to call them regarding the tour. I was on a Yosemite tour at the time but I managed to break away and call. Worst call ever. I was told they had to cancel the tour due to lack of people. Are you kidding me? You JUST confirmed the day before and now it's canceled?? I was SO upset since my days were all planned and I had NO time to reschedule anything. I booked way in advance so that I had a tour each day. I knew we'd never return to San Francisco so we wanted to get it all in. The tour company of course gave me a full refund as well as a certificate for a complimentary tour for 2 people in the future which I won't be using since I'm not returning to SF. I can give it to a friend or family member but I doubt anyone is going there anytime soon. Yes they tried to make it right BUT not while I was there. I can't go back in time. It's very upsetting that this happened to me. Just beware that's all I'm saying. The tour company took full responsibility for the issue but that doesn't help me much. I would never book through them again since they gave me misinformation and since it was last minute I couldn't fix anything with another tour. I knew I'd only visit SF just once. Try going with another tour company that's more organized. Do your research. This company will try to defend themselves and so be it but it still remains that they were at fault and ruined part of my vacation.

Our entire team at Extranomical Tour deeply regret having to cancel your tour and understand the disappointment that it caused to your vacation plans. In the rare event that we do not have enough guests to run a tour (fewer than 1% of our total tour dates), our policy is to offer guests any other tour as a substitute or a full refund plus a seat to tour another day if that works in their schedule. To our current and future customers, please note that our published terms are transparent about the need to cancel events in the slow season of the year when there are not enough guests to run a safe and enjoyable tour. Finally, we reached out to the guest who left this review by voice and email and have not received a response. Please call our guest services office today and we will try to find a way to put things right. 415-357-0700

There were only 6 of us on our tour bus to Monterey and Carmel, this gave it a bespoke, intimate, luxurious touch . Not only was Phil an amazing tour guide, he was funny, informative and had great taste in music - he had a relevant song for each prominent leg of the tour . He had clearly done his homework and was full of interesting facts and funny anecdotes. Great value for money and memories that will last a lifetime

Don and I had a blast today visiting Cli t Eastwood and Doris Day territory with our driver Phil and 13 other tourists from around the world. We laughed, sang joked, enjoyed the sites and each others company for 11 hours all thanks to Phil.Siegel. A must do activity without the stress of driving ourselves.

My husband and I took this tour a few years ago and we had a great experience. We rode in a tour size bus so we were able to see all the beautiful sites and our tour guide was great and because we had such a great experience we decided to take our daughter on the tour during our recent visit to San Francisco. We were picked up in a small van that was outfitted for a wheelchair, which would have been fine if we had an individual on the tour that needed it but we didn't so the whole time we were on the tour we had to listen to the banging in the back from the equipment, which made it hard to hear the tour guide because it was so loud and distracting. Not only was it noisy but uncomfortable for that long of a day and it was hard to see the sights if you weren't the only lucky enough to get a window seat. I did get some nice pictures when we would stop but I was so disappointed in our experience this time versus last time.
