If you want to see San Fransisco from a different perspective that then this is the tour for you. We took the GoCar 2 seater buggy which comes with a GPS tour guide that takes you round two routes, depending on the tariff you opt for.

We did a full day which equated to $299 plus $25 in insurance. it may sound expensive but its a whole 8 hour for two, zipping about in these vehicles, taking in many sights and having a pure adrenaline rush. The virtual guide is spot on and during our day we took in both routes, even venturing to the Giants ground on game day.

We took in places we wouldn't have considered including the fabulous Palace of Fine Arts, beautiful beaches and a walk across the golden gate bridge (you cannot drive this, you have to park and walk over). The longer tour takes you out of the city. We took in the artisan, winding roads, parks, lakes, culture and beautiful architecture. We There are also detours which we took advantage of ..... we were able to take in the breathtaking views of Twin Peaks .

The shorter route is very much city and takes in China Town, the main shopping area, the port etc. Also awesome but we are glad we did the whole day. Family members did 2 hours and did not enjoy the experience..... this was purely because of nerves and tetchy weather and no reflection on the tour company or the route.

The cars sit low so be mindful if you have a bad back. For us UK drivers the left hand drive could be a challenge (luckily 'my driver' (hubby) was experienced having driven abroad before).

We buddied up with a lovely Canadian couple who we met on the tour and we have stayed in touched. The benefits to this is capturing those couple photos you want but don't like handing your phone over for, especially when you aren't brilliant at selfies.

The staff at GoCars were amazing. They let my 'man child' sit in the souped up cars for photo's which then prompted every other 'man child' to do the same while wives/partners looked on most bemused.

This was an amazing experience for us both which we absolutely recommend. Superb......

I recently did this tour while in the San Fran area. Driving the vehicle is super easy if you are familiar with dirt bikes. The handle is the throttle with 2 hand breaks. This is perfect if you want to see all that the city has to offer. I recommend getting there when they open and doing the full day rental for a few extra dollars. This way you have time to stop at every place. The tour takes you on the backside of the city which truly lets you see what the city has to offer. Also, if you want to take pictures, have someone else drive.

We had 48 hours to spend in San Francisco with my 19 year old daughter. She had just had surgery the month before and was not able to walk very far.
We thought the go cars and scooters would be a great solution.
I reserved the scooters for 24 hours (since you only have to be 18 to drive the scooters, unlike the cars which is 21) I thought it would be more fun for my daughter if she could drive. As we were going through orientation, we decided to swap to a car and a scooter so one of us could take pictures as we were driving around. The company was great to work with us as we changed our plans.
Our original plan was to use the vehicles for just one day (renting the full 24 hours because it was cheaper), but we had so much fun we ended up coming back the next morning to finish out our time.
We were able to drive all over the city and the gps guided tour was great! The 'tour' talked just enough to point out things of interest (and tell a few jokes), but not so much that it was distracting or interfered with getting to enjoy the sites in front of us.
We did have a break down with our cat and the company was great to bring a replacement out to us right away.
Customer service was top notch and the cars were an amazing experience! Highly recommended!

We had so much fun on this self-guided GPS tour! It was great to be able to drive around the city in these modified moped-type vehicles and see the sights at our own pace. The audio quality is very good, and the content was great. They do a great job of providing historical and modern information about the points of interest on the route that you're on. There are two routes that you can choose from, and you can select the amount of time that you'd like to be out. We did the 3-hour tour and it was plenty of time to get around and have stops at certain places we wanted to explore more or to take pictures. The GoCar is great because it fits into small spaces easily, but is safe and follows all traffic laws. We'd definitely do this activity again!

This experience is definitely a must do if you are looking for a fun way to explore the City. After signing up You start with a 10 minute video on safety and how to operate your GoCar, grab a helmet, then off you go. The cars are equipped with GPS, a physical map with numbers to call if you need assistance, and an audio guide who does an amazing job of keeping you on course and providing all kinds of information and interesting facts about the areas you drive though.

There are 3 routes you can choose from and at least two different models of GoCars that I knew of.

I felt totally safe, the cars were easy to drive, and I never felt like I was lost.

The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was just the disorganization and confusion while trying to register to book the ride. I do recommend making a reservation a head of time. Our GoCar seemed pretty loud compared to others too.

Definitely a must do!

This came up as one of the attractions we could do on the city pass we brought on our trip. Booking the 1hr was the best thing and one of our trip highlights. The car was easy to drive and the 1hr tour we did took us right up by the Golden Gate Bridge where we got amazing photos, then through the city to come down Lombard street. The gps was easy to follow, everyone was so friendly letting us go at junctions and waving and it was just the best time. We were about 10 minutes late returning and we’re charged for this so just be wary if your time.

Pretty fun, but once the novelty wore off from the car itself, it needs some serious improvement.
1. The cars are not eco-friendly and are loaded up with gasoline. As a result, they are loud and it makes it difficult to hear the guide voice even with the volume on max output.
2. The GPS portion is somewhat misleading. The voice instructions, printed map, and screen don’t align with each other. They each have or say something a little different and don’t really match.
3. We took a ton of wrong turns. The directions just aren’t all that great.
4. After about 3 hrs., honestly, your butt starts to hurt. I wouldn’t do an all day rental.
5. Our car wasn’t cleaned well. The ppl before us left gummy bears and they stuck to our shoes and backpack. We didn’t have paper towels to clean out the car.
6. When you enter the room to put on helmets, there is no one to assist with adjustments. And, most of the helmets are missing snaps so they’re basically useless and you have to look through a bunch of helmets to actually find one with a snap.

Overall, it was unique and something fun to do. Just not so great on the overall execution of the experience.

Rented the Arcimoto Electric Scooter online. After some confusion caused by the fact that the website only lets you fill out the car waiver and insurance, we got signed up for the scooter insurance. Ended up spending over 7 hours going all around San Francisco to see multiple outstanding viewpoints of the city, beaches around the city, and the bridges. Even took the scooter across the Golden Gate Bridge and down into Sausalito. Even got stuck on the freeway coming back but the Arcimoto was going up to 60 mph! Was a little cold and windy but heated seats helped to take a little of the sting out of it. Will do again if they are available in another city.

This is a must - cart around the city to see what makes San Fran so special. You have the option to go off the gps and wander. We did a little over 5 hours, had lunch, visited the Painted Ladies, Golden Gate (from the beach), Center for the Arts, Lombard, and so many others.

Absolutely, a really fun day. Zooming around town in this little car in and of itself was so fun. The GPS narration made it even better. However, if you really want to visit all of these sites you need to get a full day rental. We did 3 hours and we're unable to stop at most of the places because we ran out of time. That was our poor planning though not the company's. It was really a great day. The only other issue I would have is the staff at the rental place could be a little friendlier it seems like they were just going through the motions.
