I was lucky enough to have a private tour as the other members of the group cancelled due to fear of rain.
The quality of the stories and the history behind the locations was top notch. It was a lovely evening spent with what felt like an old friend taking a casual evening stroll around Nob Hill.
I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to broaden their horizons and have a little fun.

Hi Jonathan, Thanks so much for this wonderful review! I had a lot of fun with you, and I'm so glad you enjoyed the tour! I hope the rest of your trip was good and that you'll come back to San Francisco again. Cheers, Kitty

A great experience! Mina was so informative and engaging while giving us a fun perspective on the always interesting and sometimes spooky history of the Nob Hill buildings. We really enjoyed her enthusiasm and energy while telling us secrets of old San Francisco. Very enjoyable

Went on Mina Harker's Vampire Tour recently...she kept us entertained with stories and history on the hill. All in our party enjoyed it. Just the right tempo and mood for an enjoyable evening out while we were visiting THE City ! !

Well, I am honestly shocked to share we purchased tickets for October 3, 2020's tour and got stood up. We waited at the corner of Taylor and California (pee the directive of the tickets) for thirty minutes, hoping to see a vampire walk up with her famous candles but nothing. Very disappointing and trying to get in touch with eventbrite and the organizer for a refund but you know how those things go... Maybe choose a pumpkin patch instead if you are trying to enjoy Halloween 2020.

I am very sorry to read this review. I did not stand the visitors up. The tour has not been operating since March when we were told to stay home, and if we must go out, to wear a mask and keep 6 feet apart. I even contacted the online companies who sell tickets to the tour, including Eventbrite and Viator, when this order was first given, and confirmed with them that the tour would not be operating until the pandemic is over. Everyone I spoke with said that this is what they expected, and I told them that I would contact them again when I was able to be conducting the tour again. I was notified of this reservation the same day the reservation was for, Saturday afternoon, and responded to Eventbrite's message immediately to remind them that the tour was not operating. Their email came as a "no reply" so my response came back to me only. I wrote to the customer right away and replied that tickets should not have been sold to the tour because of the pandemic. The customer called me at about 7:40 that night, 20 minutes before the tour would have begun. I told her that I was surprised that Eventbrite sold tickets to the tour since we are still under instructions not to gather in groups. I attempted to contact Eventbrite, but none of the phone numbers listed were in service. I went on their website to find an email address or another phone number so I could contact them and let them know that I still am not operating the tour. I could not find an email address on the website or a phone number to call and speak with someone. When I spoke with the customer on the phone, she was very nice about it and said not to worry and she understood. She said that since they were in San Francisco, they would have no trouble finding something else to do. As a small business owner, I know how important it is to obey the law, especially in a crisis situation. I have even added a message on the first page of my website in red letters that the tour is not operating due to the Corona Virus until we are told it is safe to do so, and I have sent out posts every so often on my Facebook page reminding people that the tour is not operating until we are told we can gather in groups again. I just sent another one out the other day. Please do not penalize me for obeying the law and doing what we have been asked to do by the government. According to the adage, the customer's always right. This customer does have a right to be upset, but not at me. Please do not fault me for this. I am still trying to contact Eventbrite to clear this up. Thank you.

Bottom line: the tour guide lost 6 customers in the first 40 minutes (which was about 25% of the group). Our guide was dressed and made up well but ruined the illusion before the tour even started - don't know about you but I like my vampires aloof and mysterious not schmoozy and talking about their human ailments. Our group had to just stand in one spot for 15-20 minutes at a time while she related the history of the landmark (interesting) interspersed with vampire jokes and made-up history (schlocky), then we walked a block and stood (2 left) and then we walked back to a few feet from where we started and 4 of us walked away. If you'd enjoy seeing a vampire at a comedy club on "open mike" nite and don't mind wasting a couple of hours in a wonderful city like San Francisco and your boredom threshhold is high and you like your humor inane, then this is the tour for you. Just remember the old adage "you get what you pay for" is very true in this case...cheap entertainment.

I thought it would be a blast! I fully expected that much of the script would be a delightful story linking several charming old historic locations together in a yarn about vampires. So I drug my 17-year-old son along on a 215-mile trip from Visalia to do some things we've never done before: Hear a great story about vampires in San Francisco, and tour Alcatraz.

I hoped it would be a bit campy and was reassured when on the Friday before Hallowe'en about 60 customers were there with me - some in costumes, including one woman in a cloak and fangs.

Sadly, it all went downhill from there. (Well, it had to since we were at the summit of Nob Hill across from Grace Cathedral). Please note, it is a long climb to the top of Nob Hill from anywhere in the city.

It really felt like a lecture in college - you know the ones in the gigantic lecture hall where the professor's assistant stands there and drones on and on with names and dates and facts....

We spent a full 30 minutes across the street from Grace Cathedral where the actress who plays the vampiress kept talking and talking about historical figures and dates and locations and facts - will this be on the quiz, I wondered?

Perhaps, I allowed, we spend so much time at this first location so late-comers can get here and catch up. Harrison (my son) stuck it out longer than some adults in the audience, but finally rolled his eyes and joined several others around the corner on the concrete berm surrounding Huntington Park. I soon joined him. "Dad, do we have HBO at the hotel?"

The tour finally moved on to a little restaurant down Taylor street, near Clay where unfortunate diners outside on the sidewalk seemed mortified to see our gaggle stopping near them and then to hear the lecture begin anew. Dates, names, places... I have to admit that this part of the tour became interesting because just down the street there seemed to be a very popular hallowe'en costume party and all the ladies were arriving in very very interesting costumes... But I digress.

After 30 minutes at this second location (one hour into the tour) we had pretty much given up on the tour for our own enjoyment and started discussing how we could turn this unfortunate experience into a money-making venture of our own. At 20 bucks a pop, this lady made about $1200 in a single night and has virtually no overhead. I'm sure this isn't a typical night, being hallowe'en and a beautiful fall evening, but still we wondered how we could use this concept to develop an interesting guided tour in our own small town (Visalia, CA, pop: 105,000).

Perhaps one day you will read about our Haunted Visalia Tour here. If you do, and you come visit us, I hope your review will say: "That was such a blast. The pace was perfect and never boring. The story was interesting and made perfect sense. Every time I drive downtown I think about it."

PROLOG:
We found a Walgreens, bought some microwave popcorn and soft drinks, and spent the evening in our hotel room watching Independence Day on HBO for the 7th or 8th time.

The next morning we went to pier 33 and took the Alcatraz tour. We both agreed this was a much better way to spend $40 for a day trip, then the vampire tour.

My friends surprised me with the tour and it's something I will never forget. Mina is a vivid storyteller and so knowledgable. We learned so much about the secret history of SF. She made it so engaging and her passion is infectious. Afterwards we got drinks at the Tonga Room (not included in the tour, but I also recommend). Dress warmly!

A unique, fun tour. Costumed host Mina Harker tells tales and takes you on a nice walk that shows off SF landmarks and signature views. Note: WEAR LAYERS! Don’t go by the temperature. This is San Francisco and it gets windy and cold on the hilltops!

We’ve done the Vampire tour twice...had fun! Felt sorry for out of towners clad in shorts and flip flops. The wind is whipping on Nob Hill in the summer. The walking tour is full of San Francisco history...facts and fiction.
