If you don't have a car, this is your best option. Getting an Uber back from M Woods can be a big challenge.
The journey was smooth and Marco( our guide) was just too good. He was extremely informative and warm.
He stopped at some picturesque locations along the way for us to get some pictures and kept us thoroughly entertained with his stories of SFO, Muir Woods and Sausalito. I've learnt so much during this trip.
Carry a jacket as it is little cold inside the woods. The facilities has restrooms and drinking water.

Great guide and the tour! There is no parking in Muir Woods, so it’s a great option! We learned a lot about San Francisco, Muir Woods and Sausalito. In Muir Woods we had 1.5 hrs for a self guided walk. In Sausalito we had a brief stop and the guide let us choose if we wanted to stay longer and take a ferry back. So we took a ferry back, passed Alcatraz quite close, it was also fun. I’d recommend this tour!

I enjoyed this tour. I only had one afternoon to see some of the sights of San Francisco and Muir Woods was at the top of my list. The pick up location near Fisherman's Wharf was very easy to find and the bus was comfortable. Our driver was very nice and had lots of fun facts about the neighborhoods we were driving through and some of the sights we were passing by. Gorgeous views on the way to Muir Woods. I thought the time spent actually at Muir Woods was plenty of time for me, I knew I only had a few hours to spare, so only having 90 minutes was perfectly fine for me. I felt I was able to see what I wanted in the one afternoon I had. Was worth the money in my opinion. Thumbs up!

We pay for children from 12 to 15 as adults but their entrance is free in the park (15$ each) and they try not to give their tickets. Short time in the park, we couldn't do all the trail. I recommend do this activity but not with Tower Tours

Our driver (Marko) did a fantastic job of providing a running commentary to/from the Muir Woods. Lots of extra information about great eating spots, walks, shopping and sightseeing opportunities were highlighted.
Photo opportunities of the GG Bridge were an extra highlight. And the woods speak for themselves - don’t miss them.

More or less on time hotel pick-up; on time tour departure from operator’s HQ; scenic drive but ...
a driver/guide was sub-par: while did have historical facts to share he was too hard to understand; way too chatty about his own personal anecdotes and took too long to make his point. Please retrain Mr. CW.

A great park to tour and take in all the beauty that Muir Woods has to offer! We had a tour guide that gave interesting history as we headed out of the city to the park. You have the option to spend time after the park in Saucalito, a quaint Mediterranean-sequel town with lots of food, shopping, and great views of the bay. You can ferry back to SF and catch some fantastic views there too. I would recommend!

This was a nice tour for the price. The guide was very informative. I would have liked a little more time at Muir Woods. We only got an hour and a half and we were also hoping to see more of Sausalito but since we had to start our hop on, hop off, we didn’t have time. We thought the tour included some time there but we would’ve had to get a ferry back to SF if we got off the bus in Sausalito. That was the only downside. The hop on/ off portion was really nice and super useful. Would recommend for anyone looking for easy transportation to sights across the city.

Muir Woods was wondering and does not reflect my rating. Tower Tours is just a ride to the park and adds no extra value. The tour was supposed to include time at Sausalito to explore. I had tp plead with the driver to stop and drop me off (because I had mad arrangements to meet someone there). Many of the other patrons raised their concerns that this was included in the tour. He told others they could get off but he was not staying (going directly back to SF).

My wife and I wanted to have a little time away in the woods to clear our heads, revel in the natural wonder and savor our last full day in San Fran.
From the moment we got on the tour bus, the host would not be quiet for even a moment. His patter was mildly interesting at the start, but when it continued unabated for more than 15 minutes, it became distracting. We couldn't enjoy the splendor of the Golden Gate as he continue to "share" fact after fact and story after story. It was a ceaseless grind all the way to the exit for the windy roads leading to Muir Woods.
And it kept going. Despite the clear need for concentration on some very steep and winding roads, he talked. And talked, And talked. When he opened the door to the bus, my wife and I both darted for the entrance, just to get a moment...even a second...away from his voice. We calmed as we went through the woods together, but upon our return to the bus, he was there, waiting to talk more.
All the way back the winding roads, he talked. Down to the very last second as we pulled into Sausalito, he talked.
And all we could talk about over a late lunch? The endless drone of the driver.
Find another tour. Find someone who understands that vacation is an escape, not an opportunity to bend the collective ears of a captive audience.

Dear cnpritch,
We apologize your tour guide's narration was too much to bear. Many of our guides have been in the industry for decades and are very enthused to share information to their captive audience. We will remind them to leave some quiet moments for your reflection, most especially on a tour such as Muir Woods. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope the remainder of your visit to San Francisco was enjoyable. Warm Regards, Janet R.

The Muir Woods tour does not stop anywhere but goes directly to the woods. You can take a separate tour from Tower Tours that does the city of San Fran and stops at the Golden gate for about ten minutes for awesome pics. We did that tour and the bus stops at many attractions in the city for you to enjoy.
Can you accommodate mobility scooters?

I would like to book the 4:00 pm tour for 2 adults on July 31, 2019. When I check availability, the tour is there. However, there is no option for me to book it. Is this tour no longer available? Or if it is, how can I book it? Unfortunately we cannot make an earlier time due to our flight arrival.

Hi,
I would love to join this tour on 20 April and wonder if there is a pick up session which coincides with the returning ferry from Angel Island. According to that tour schedule, the ferry is scheduled to dock around 3pm?
Pls advise

If you get dropped off in Sausalito, is there an additional charge to ferry back to San Francisco? Also, do you need to make a reservation for the ferry in advance?

We booked a trip that included the ferry ticket, how ever others were given the choice to be dropped in Sausalito and buy a ticket there and then. There was loads of space on the ferry we took back to SF so based on that I don't think you would need to book in advance.

Are there any stops along the Golden Gate Bridge for taking photos, like Battery Spencer point?

I agree with hunnyjar. I was really lucky on my tour to Muir Woods. I visited Muir Woods in early September. As it was the first clear smoke free day that San Francisco had in months, our wonderful coach driver/tour leader drove up to the Marin Headland so that we could take photos of the Golden Gate Bridge from the western side. Our stop wasn’t part of the official itinerary. Our coach driver made the unofficial stop purely out of the goodness of his heart as he wanted his passengers to have an even more enjoyable tour/experience. On the recommendation of my hotel concierge, I went on the Tower Tours Muir Woods tour as you spend approximately 30mins longer at Muir Woods than when you visit the Woods with other tour companies. Tower Tours were excellent! I highly recommend them. Please refer to my review on TripAdvisor for a more comprehensive review of the tour. I hope that you have a wonderful time! Don’t forget to take a warm jacket as even on the sunniest day it can get pretty chilly at the Golden Gate Bridge.

How much walking is required?
Reggie293
St. Petersburg, FL126 contributions
The first part of the path from the parking lot is a fairly level wooden boardwalk with trails that fan out and up dirt paths. You could walk about a half mile to The Cathedral Grove and see the huge redwoods and ground cover of ferns, etc. There are benches at turning points or bridges along the way and a big cafe - souvenir shop close to the parking lot. I understand you could walk uphill for miles to get a view of the ocean. I did not do that.

If I remember correctly this tour is at around 6 hours long. Very good tour. You see the Golden gate, lots of CA small towns, Muir Woods plus Muir Woods beach, Sausalito and then you ferry back to San Fran. Loved it!!
