About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- bigcaro19730 contributionsNice tourWe had an hour at the first winery. The guide who served us the wine tasting talked so much we didn't have time to even see grapes! The first 30 minutes he only talked toward one group of people. Our group of 6 didn't catch much information. We asked him to talk our way and he did after. The wine was good but we wasted too much time with his stories about stuff that wasn't about wine. The small bus and the lady driver were excellent! She had the roof off to drive to the second winery! There we had really great wine and great information from the guide. It was a good visit.Written September 25, 2024
- Scenic594945756610 contributionsRude customer serviceAlthough the tour was great, I was very unhappy with the customer service. I arrived at the pickup spot at the right time/location and went on the bus, as there was so visible place to check in. No one was around to check my ticket that I could see. In hindsight, I probably should have made more effort to confirm I was on the correct bus. However, no one on the Tower Tours team also made an effort to make sure everyone on the bus was going to the right place when I was on it. When I spoke to the team on the phone, I apologized for the misunderstanding and offered to pay the difference between the 2 tours, and the man gave me an extremely snarky comment “Oh, so you want to pay more?” I really didn’t appreciate being yelled at and spoken to like this, especially when I was trying to be nice and make up the difference when it’s on the tour group to make sure everyone is in the right place.Written September 23, 2024
- Wayne M0 contributionsA trip worth doingGreat tour, our driver James was phenomenal, he had a great sense of humour and very knowledgeable about everything. He kept us engaged the entire the trip. The bus was comfortable and trip seemed short because of James. The wineries and the wine was greatWritten September 13, 2024
- Lisa J0 contributionsNot a happy touristWhen I booked, it was supposed to be Muir Redwoods and Sonoma wines. I love some of the wines from Sinoma Valley and have always wanted to go to Muir Reswoods. I booked this trip for a reason and was stressed about booking early enough so that it wouldn't be sold out. They waited until after they charged my credit card to send me an email saying it was changed. By the time they notified me , it was too late for me to research and find another trip. I feel that they had plenty of time to let me know about the change prior to when they did. The first stop at Korbel Champagne was wonderful. I truly enjoyed ourselves. The second stop, the Armstrong forest, was nothing like I have had people describe and show me pictures of the Muir Redwoods. The last stop was absolutely horrible. The waiter was horrible and acted as if he was being bothered by our little group. Personally and others were not impressed with the wine selections. By the end of the third tasting, people were asking, not even to get the next two samples. Our Tour guide Marco was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed him. I feel as if I was taken advantage of, and someone just wanted my money taking me somewhere I didn't sign up for. I paid a lot of money to go see and be treated badly by the staff. Rest assured, I will remember this this next year at vacation time.Written September 7, 2024

- C9573RSgabriela0 contributionsNapa valleyVery Nice tour we got, the driver Patrick did a great job, talking about everything around, going to Napa valley There, we visited two wineries, tastings different wines produced for these two wineries We’ve a great timeWritten August 25, 2024
- H757LRsergios0 contributionsGreat wine, but overall super disappointedGreat experience traveling wine country and stopping at 3 of them for tastings! Had a great time exploring and taking in information about the wines we tasted! However we didn't expect the group environment to be what it was. From the beginning of our 8:30am tour there was a big group of a super loud party that would scream at the top of their lungs no exaggeration . It would only get louder and louder after every stop we made, we could barely hear what the driver was saying while driving around sf . I couldn't hear what my gf was saying and we were sitting right next to eachother. We booked this trip for a relaxing getaway and the entire time in the bus we would get everything but that. I would literally be covering my ears while this group in their mid 30's yelled and actually barked like animals the entire trip and it was super obnoxious and really disappointing. The other couples on the tour weren't like that and actually were really nice and offered to take pictures for us , and I doubt they enjoyed the super loud environment. If you want to get drunk and yell inside of a bus then this is the trip for you! If you want a relaxing getaway with your partner for the day then I would steer far away from this specific tour company. Like I mentioned we loved the locations and drivers knowledge but I wouldn't be able to recommend this place to anyone let alone my close friends/family.Written August 20, 2024
- fahadsQ9757ZL0 contributionsThe Experienece was GreatThis Napa and Sonoma wine tour was an absolute dream! From the moment we stepped onto the bus, we were greeted with enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge about the region. Our guide was incredibly informative, sharing fascinating insights into the winemaking process and the history of the area. The wineries we visited were truly exceptional. Each one offered a unique experience, from stunning vineyard views to passionate winemakers. The tastings were a delightful journey through a variety of flavors, and we discovered several new favorites.Written August 15, 2024
- 656deang0 contributionsDelightful woods and wine visitIf you have limited time this is a great way to do both Muir Woods and wine country in one day. The winding narrow road to Muir is much more enjoyable when someone else is driving. 90 minutes is sufficient to enjoy the redwoods and our two winery visits were all that we needed to get a taste of Napa Valley. Time in Sausalito for lunch was more than enough. Dined at a great little Mexican spot. Our driver made a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge on our return for a great photo op.Written August 4, 2024
- CarolynB15490 contributionsBus tour of Muir Woods, Sausalito and Napa Valley Wine CountryThis was an excellent tour of Muir Woods National Monument, Sausalito and Napa Valley wineries. The bus drive was very knowledgeable and personable making the driving part of trip pleasant. Muir Woods was amazing, the Redwood trees were specular! I recommend eating lunch at the Fish and Chips shop across from parking lot on waterfront, the food was excellent. We really enjoyed the wine tours at Madonna Estate and Ru Vango, the vast amount of vineyards was amazing. I highly recommend this excursion when visiting San Francisco.Written July 30, 2024
- paulnK4996AC0 contributionsEasy wine tripFor the price point, this is really worth it. No need to bother with a car rental and just sit in a bus and enjoy wine. The bus had only tourist from out of town. The wineries are ok but if you want to enjoy higher end wine tours this might not be for you.Written July 21, 2024
- Olivia E0 contributionsIncredible tour!!! Highly recommend!5 out of 5. We had an incredible day on this tour, our driver was so kind, we were on time to all our spots & she stopped for picturesque spots across Sonoma, Napa & San Fran! We had such a fun day, can’t recommend this tour enough, perfect half-day price as well!Written June 28, 2024
- 194titusw0 contributionsWonder and WineThe Muir Woods, Sausalito, Half-Day wine tour was great. The height, girth, and age of the redwood trees real give you an eye opening reality check on how short human life really is. The quiet peace of the forest is refreshing. Sausalito has a great free spirited vibe that is nice. Sonoma and Napa were good. But Madonna Estate Winery in Sonoma was the best. Informative, inviting, and top shelf wine. This combo is a must do.Written June 22, 2024

- Sunshine482156845620 contributionsVery informativeI've given this a five and this would have been for the driver/guide alone! He was a lot of fun and knew his stuff! Not about the wine tour exactly, but for his knowledge of the area, I think his name was James. We visited two wineries, first was the Madonna - who grew grapes organically. This was a more professional presentation and a small family concern by some standards. We had about four samples of wine and it was very nice. Second was the Ru Vango vineyard. Again we sampled four wines and this was a larger business, but not so much of a presentation as the former. The two hosts were really friendly and there was no pressure to buy! The ambience and so relaxing in the terrace A lovely couple of hours and the drive into Napa is lovelyWritten June 3, 2024

If you don't have a car, this is your best option. Getting an Uber back from M Woods can be a big challenge.
The journey was smooth and Marco( our guide) was just too good. He was extremely informative and warm.
He stopped at some picturesque locations along the way for us to get some pictures and kept us thoroughly entertained with his stories of SFO, Muir Woods and Sausalito. I've learnt so much during this trip.
Carry a jacket as it is little cold inside the woods. The facilities has restrooms and drinking water.

More or less on time hotel pick-up; on time tour departure from operator’s HQ; scenic drive but ...
a driver/guide was sub-par: while did have historical facts to share he was too hard to understand; way too chatty about his own personal anecdotes and took too long to make his point. Please retrain Mr. CW.

Everything from the drive over to the hikes were breathtaking. A truly unique experience. Our driver James filled the entire ride with commentary, trivia facts, and photo ops. The woods themselves are small with many accessible hikes for the time permitted. 10/10 will do again when I’m back in the area.

We pay for children from 12 to 15 as adults but their entrance is free in the park (15$ each) and they try not to give their tickets. Short time in the park, we couldn't do all the trail. I recommend do this activity but not with Tower Tours

I would definitely recommend this tour 100%
Our driver Lester was wonderful and shared so much interesting facts about different locations throughout our drive.
Muir Forest was amazing , it is wonderful and amazing.
Sausalito is pretty there are shops, restaurants and views . I recommend Sausalito Tacos great food, service and atmosphere.
If you’re not pressed for time take the Ferry back, this gives more time to explore and enjoy your experience. The ferry ride to the pier provides so many photo opportunities, I took some of my best pictures of the Golden Gate bridge.
Enjoy!

Our driver (Marko) did a fantastic job of providing a running commentary to/from the Muir Woods. Lots of extra information about great eating spots, walks, shopping and sightseeing opportunities were highlighted.
Photo opportunities of the GG Bridge were an extra highlight. And the woods speak for themselves - don’t miss them.

I highly highly recommend this trip!
Bus was clean and comfortable and ready to go for us at the states time. Our driver was kind and engaged us throughout the ride. The Golden Gate was masked in fog on the way in, which is typical, but we still got to stop at the lookout point. Just don’t count on pictures.
Our time in Muir Woods was on the short side, but plenty long enough to do the main route down and back, use the restroom, grab a snack at the cafe on site, buy souvenirs and get back on the bus! Drops you back where you started with the option to also get off at Sausalito.
Well worth it for this price point, especially if you didn’t rent a car and are staying in SF!

It was a beautiful afternoon walking through the giant Redwoods. A nice way to spend time out of the city. My only issue was that our group was put on a smaller bus that was noisy and that the driver seemed to be going way too fast but he was informative when you could hear his bits of information.

A great park to tour and take in all the beauty that Muir Woods has to offer! We had a tour guide that gave interesting history as we headed out of the city to the park. You have the option to spend time after the park in Saucalito, a quaint Mediterranean-sequel town with lots of food, shopping, and great views of the bay. You can ferry back to SF and catch some fantastic views there too. I would recommend!

This was a nice tour for the price. The guide was very informative. I would have liked a little more time at Muir Woods. We only got an hour and a half and we were also hoping to see more of Sausalito but since we had to start our hop on, hop off, we didn’t have time. We thought the tour included some time there but we would’ve had to get a ferry back to SF if we got off the bus in Sausalito. That was the only downside. The hop on/ off portion was really nice and super useful. Would recommend for anyone looking for easy transportation to sights across the city.

How long does it take to travel from pickup at Fisherman’s Wharf to the Woods? How long is the return journey? Thank you.
Written August 29, 2022
It was round about 45 minutes. There is a 10 minute stop at the Golden Gate Bridge which if there isn’t fog is a great view.

Does the tour always include a 5 minute it's stop to photo golden gate bridge? thanks
Written August 13, 2019
The Muir Woods tour does not stop anywhere but goes directly to the woods. You can take a separate tour from Tower Tours that does the city of San Fran and stops at the Golden gate for about ten minutes for awesome pics. We did that tour and the bus stops at many attractions in the city for you to enjoy.

I would like to book the 4:00 pm tour for 2 adults on July 31, 2019. When I check availability, the tour is there. However, there is no option for me to book it. Is this tour no longer available? Or if it is, how can I book it? Unfortunately we cannot make an earlier time due to our flight arrival.

Hi,
I would love to join this tour on 20 April and wonder if there is a pick up session which coincides with the returning ferry from Angel Island. According to that tour schedule, the ferry is scheduled to dock around 3pm?
Pls advise

Hello, yes, this tour is available on April 20th. There are departures at 9:00am which will get back into San Francisco at 12:3pm at Fisherman's Wharf.

If you get dropped off in Sausalito, is there an additional charge to ferry back to San Francisco? Also, do you need to make a reservation for the ferry in advance?
Written March 9, 2019
We booked a trip that included the ferry ticket, how ever others were given the choice to be dropped in Sausalito and buy a ticket there and then. There was loads of space on the ferry we took back to SF so based on that I don't think you would need to book in advance.

Are there any stops along the Golden Gate Bridge for taking photos, like Battery Spencer point?
Written December 12, 2018
I agree with hunnyjar. I was really lucky on my tour to Muir Woods. I visited Muir Woods in early September. As it was the first clear smoke free day that San Francisco had in months, our wonderful coach driver/tour leader drove up to the Marin Headland so that we could take photos of the Golden Gate Bridge from the western side. Our stop wasn’t part of the official itinerary. Our coach driver made the unofficial stop purely out of the goodness of his heart as he wanted his passengers to have an even more enjoyable tour/experience. On the recommendation of my hotel concierge, I went on the Tower Tours Muir Woods tour as you spend approximately 30mins longer at Muir Woods than when you visit the Woods with other tour companies. Tower Tours were excellent! I highly recommend them. Please refer to my review on TripAdvisor for a more comprehensive review of the tour. I hope that you have a wonderful time! Don’t forget to take a warm jacket as even on the sunniest day it can get pretty chilly at the Golden Gate Bridge.
Written December 13, 2018
The first part of the path from the parking lot is a fairly level wooden boardwalk with trails that fan out and up dirt paths. You could walk about a half mile to The Cathedral Grove and see the huge redwoods and ground cover of ferns, etc. There are benches at turning points or bridges along the way and a big cafe - souvenir shop close to the parking lot. I understand you could walk uphill for miles to get a view of the ocean. I did not do that.
