- Alsoknownaslouis00A beautiful day outside SFI'm so glad that when I decided to take a tour outside San Francisco, I opted for this tour. Our guide and driver, Dani, was kind, patient, welcoming and willing to provide us with support and information about the places we were visiting. There was plenty of time to make the most of our many stops which, by the way, are certainly worth a brief escape from the beautiful city of SF.
- E4614LYtatianag00Go to Yosemite park!It was a very nice trip. Guide and bus were in time The bus was clean and comfortable. Views in Yosemite were beyond imagination!
- LE0LI0N5500Great wineries, but a long dayThis tour started off with some friendly banter with our driver/guide, Danny. He gave us some info on sights as we drove to our first winery, Ru Venga. They had good samples of all red wines and let us walk in the vineyard. There were beautiful art pieces on display in the tasting house...some of them around $250k! Then, we went to the Madonna Estate winery. Jim was our guide & he was excellent...funny, good stories/info, etc. The wines we tasted were incredible & there were plenty of them! Everyone was buzzed after this stop. We then went to Sonoma Square for find-your-own lunch and we had some excellent Mexican food. By the time we went to our third winery (B.R. Cohn), however, everyone was sluggish and getting tired. They had good wines and vintage music history, as the owner is the former Doobie Brothers manager. We didn't really get to appreciate it, though. Despite things going really well, I would recommend a 2 winery tour, as 3 was just too much.
- rcrane32323200Taste the best of both worldsLoved being able to see Napa and Sonoma and having the wine tastings included. We would of been lost for sure if we tried to do it on our own.
- Shimmergrl00Enjoyable tourThis was a great way to experience wine country! We visited three wineries, all which had a different flair. Each of the guides at the wineries were friendly and explained the wines. Tom, our bus driver and tour guide, was excellent. He was well informed and explained a lot about the area and the wineries.
- AnnN20200Take a pass on this tourThis tour was poorly done. We understand that we do not get to select the vineyards that we go to but the ones that were selected were dull at best, with one exception. Also, the wine they offer for tastings is also pre-selected so you are stuck with whatever they chose. The tour guide had difficulty with her microphone throughout the experience (not her fault), which made for a very long bus ride. The only highlight was the hour we were given to spend in downtown Sonoma. Unfortunately, we were supposed to have a longer amount of time, but our tour guide got mixed up on timing, so we ended up spending even more time on that bus. The only time our driver acknowledged that they were people aboard was when he and the tour guide were looking for tips. Very disappointing!
- UsernameForTripAdvis00A truly amazing experienceCouldn’t have dreamed of a better tour. I’ve always wanted to go to Yosemite but only had 1 day to spare. This tour perfectly provided the best experience you could get with a single day-trip from SF. Pick-up was simple and we stopped at a supermarket before the drive to stock-up and use the bathrooms. Throughout the ride Joseph provided commentary on the history of California and Yosemite. I had very limited knowledge going in so it was very nice to learn the rich history of the area along the way. Archie, the driver, expertly navigated us and I’m truly happy that I decided not to drive myself because I probably would have accidentally drove myself off a cliff. When we arrived at Yosemite, the bus stopped at some truly beautiful spots. After that, my favorite part, was the 3 hours to explore Yosemite Valley on our own. Archie and Joseph were extremely knowledgable and kind and gave us recommendations on how to make the most of the 3 hours. The pictures speak for themselves on what you can accomplish and see on this tour within a day. I hope I can make a longer trip to Yosemite one day, but if I’m not, I will forever be satisfied that I took this tour. Thank you Joseph and Archie!
- skmonte00Great time.Bus ride was nice and relaxing with no worries about driving. Great wine tour and we had 4 to 5 tastings at each of the vineyards.
- SallyPembrokeshire00Professional Coach TourGray Line tour company provided us with a clean, comfortable coach for the duration of our Monterey, Carmel & The 17 Mile Drive day trip. We had such an enjoyable day tour with the fabulous Thomas as our guide and driver for the day. Thomas was so friendly, informative and extremely knowledgeable about each and every point within the tour. The coach gave a great view of the scenic route we took along the coast. Highly recommended professional tour company and a big thanks to Thomas for making the tour a memorable one during our holiday in the USA!
- SallyPembrokeshire00Beautiful California CoastWe had such an enjoyable day tour with the fabulous Thomas as our guide and driver for the day. Thomas was so friendly, informative and extremely knowledgeable about each and every point of interest within the tour. The coach was clean, comfortable and gave a great view of the scenic route we took along the way. Monterey was a quaint seaside resort and we had an outstanding lunch in the restaurant 'Lalla Oceanside Grill' which was situated right on the seafront. Carmel, Pebble Beach and The 17 Mile Drive were outstanding areas and a joy to see all the mansions within the National Park. We had short photo/bathroom stops along the route to take in the beauty of the little coves with seals, sealions, pelicans and other birds off the California Coast. Highly recommended tour and a big thanks to Thomas for making the tour a memorable one!
- I6595ZEsamanthak00Napa Sonoma tourTotally amazing experience. The tour guides at the wineries were great story tellers about the history of the wines. Our tour bus driver Greg was the best. Gives you all the San Francisco highlights and history. Greg is amazing!!
- andri2500Interesting wine tastingThe best were the first and third wine tasting places. In the first place they offer 4 different wines and explained very well all of them. The 2nd was a little bit boring since they just give the wine and didn't explain exactly the wines. They just give a brochure with the wines explanation. In the 3rd place, they offer 3 different wines but they explained and showed how is the process to get each wine. Also, they showed the different machines and how long it takes.
- davidsG1868MR00Great full day adventureThe trip to the wineries was made extra special by the knowledge of the area by the bus driver. He provided a lot of history on the area we traveled in. Bus was comfortable and the 3 wineries we visited gave great tours.
- B8054SYjeanneb00Great wine tour!Amazing views and good wine:) the best wineries were the first and last ones, the second was okay but we didn’t get to tour the grounds as we did at the other two. Nice day trip from San Francisco, would recommend!
- michelegF9958ZT00San Fran tourGreat information and fun tour! We would definitely recommend this! Teens and adults loved it! Great job

Our bus tour to The Muir Woods and Sausalito was absolutely worth every penny. The woods were indescribably beautiful, pictures do not do them justice. Our bus driver was a SF native who knew not only facts about the history of the sites along the way and about the Muir Woods and Sausalito but also had personal stories to share. We opted for the ferry ticket back which was definitely worth it although you can opt to purchase the ferry ticket once you arrive in Sausalito. No need to pre-purchase.

Book this tour, stop looking for others and wasting your time, and just book it. You actually get four tours for your money if you go on the weekends and get Josh as your tour guide. He narrates the sights and Culture of the different neighborhoods you go through on the way to the Golden Gate
Bridge. Then you park on the other side of the bridge to take your touristy photo( you know you will, why not) then continue on to Muir Woods. Big perks of this tour is no parking fee, and entrance fee to park is part of your price, and the buses park close to the entrance. You get plenty of time in the park to enjoy it's truly amazing beautiful scenery. Just don't be late back to the bus or you'll get golf clapped. Sausalito was ok . And above all I must commend our guide Josh. Knowledgeable, funny, personable and a great driver . Everything you could hope for and more in a guide .

This tour was awesome! When I got to the Gray Line office it was an easy and fast check-in. There was a couple cafés/ coffee places next to it so after I checked in, I got a bite to eat and headed onto the bus. Once we started going, our driver drove us through the city a little bit before hopping onto the highway and he gave us so much information and facts about the neighborhoods we were going through, it was super interesting. We headed over the Golden Gate Bridge and stopped for ~10 minutes at a view point so we could take pictures. The drive from the starting point to Muir Woods was ~50 minutes and once we got to Muir Woods we had a bit over an hour and a half to walk around. I was nervous that it wouldn’t be enough time, but it for sure was! I was able to walk to all the bridges (there were 4), do some shopping in the gift shop and make it back on the bus in time before going to Sausalito. Once again our driver talked about the city and pointed out places with a story behind it. When we got to Sausalito he gave us recommendations of places to eat and see and I spent ~3 hours there. I chose the option to take the ferry back and I highly recommend it!! It gave me the freedom to spend as much/ little time as I wanted in Sausalito and I could take any ferry back to SF. I took the ferry right at sunset and the view of going into the city with Alcatraz and the Golden Gate right there was beautiful! (pictures are from going back on the ferry)

I’ve done many Muir Woods + Wine Country tours with Gray Line and was always satisfied. This outing, however, I felt like I did not get what I paid for.
I purchased 10 tickets for Muir Woods (2 hours) and Sausalito (30 minutes). Our family wanted plenty of time to explore the woods, snack shop, and the gift shop. We had two grandparents that needed to take time to walk.
What we received was a 20 minute stop at Golden Gate lookout (not on the itinerary). One hour in Muir Woods(half the time advertised) and one hour in Sausalito (twice as much time as advertised).
This was a major disappointment, especially since we spent $850+ taxes to see Muir Woods. If we wanted a half and half trip to Sausalito, we would have purchased that option from the company.
The tour guide was nice and did a great job narrating the trip and was very safe driving.
Overall, we felt cheated because we didn’t get to do what we paid to do.

The good. The tour guide was hilarious and knowledgeable. Brief extra tour stop at Golden Gate Bridge was a wonderful addition. Muir Woods was beautiful and peaceful.
The bad. There’s nothing really in Sausalito. Just a marina and shops selling the same tourist rubbish you can get in San Fran.
Wouldn’t book with GrayLine again. They changed my tour from 11am to 8am without telling me. It’s only because I was treated this way by GrayLine previously in Las Vegas in 2017 that I knew to check with them multiple times and especially on the day before the tour. Really poor behaviour by a tour company. The person in the office said my tour was cancelled because only 3 others had booked. When I got the email from the main office later that day (to inform me of the change) the excuse was ‘Muir Woods aren’t issuing permits for 11am’. Hmmm. Translates to ‘we don’t want to apologise for messing up your day to save ourselves some money so let’s blame someone else and hope the client doesn’t find out’. The next day whilst I was in the office waiting for the tour bus; a couple arrived for their booked tour and were surprised to be told their tour was completely cancelled. Sad for them that they had no idea this is how GrayLine operate. Also when got to Muir Woods it was free but the cost of this experience includes entry ticket cost. I asked Muir Woods and they said MLK day is always free. A large tour company like GrayLine would know. I asked for a refund. Funny, not received a response.

This trip was really the same as hiring a taxi to drive to Muir Woods and Sausalito. Other than light commentary as we drove, we were just dropped off at both places and told when to return. This is OK but dont call it a tour. Also, the driver emphasized strongly the importance of returning to the bus on time as it would be an expensive cab ride. So all of us except for three people were back and ready at the appointed time. We waited over 15 minutes for the stragglers to return. That was irritating and rude to the rest of us. I fully agree with a few minutes leeway, but 15+ minutes is excessive.
Lastly, from Muir Woods to sausilito the AC on the bus was not working (no one’s fault but got pretty warm).
I chose the return by ferry option and the instructions given to us were incorrect. We were given incorrect ferry times which would have resulted in missing the ferry had i not arrived early (Driver said ferry was at 5 pm but it was 4:45 actually).
All in all i would research other options before booking this.

Hello Companion21915032981,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review and sharing your experience with other travelers.
Unfortunately for all the tour operators, we can't run any guided tours inside Muir Woods National Park, so the best of our options is to build the tour as it is offered. Please consider that in addition to the narrated tour we offer from San Francisco to Muir Woods, your ticket includes the entrance to the park (15$).
We are very sorry that you experienced the incident with other customers. I understand your point, but we would like to explain that there is no cell coverage around Muir Woods National Park, so leaving the customers behind would have put them in real trouble to escape from there.
We have taken notes of the Ferry schedule, so we make sure all the information we give is accurate.
Again, thanks for all your feedback. It helps out to improve our experiences and be a better company every day.

This unfortunately was a terrible experience. We were picked up and given our entrance ticket ($15/value) from Fisherman's Wharf area. Upon getting on the bus (which was packed) we advised that it was hot in the back (temp was 90 + out). We drove to Muir Woods with no AC on the bus and little air movement. To say everyone was miserable would be an understatement. We were so overheated that the first 20 minutes of the 90 we got there was spent in the bathroom running cold water to cool ourselves down. Masks are required here, which would have been helpful info. We didn't get to see near as much of the Muir Woods as we would have liked and when it was time to leave we asked the driver again about the AC he said there was nothing he could do (it worked some up front by him). You'd think they would've called for another bus. We left there for Sausalito which was nothing different than what you find on Pier 39 so we went to a bar for a cold drink. When we got off the bus there the driver told us if it's too hot we could pay 29 for a boat ferry over to San Fran instead. At this point, they should have covered that cost. The driver commentated during the drive. He was okay, rather monotone and what he shared most people likely already knew. Personally, I'd advise to skip this tour . Rent a car and drive there yourself. I hate giving bad reviews but I did try to reach the operator before posting this. They really should have exchanged the bus or offered some refund in my opinion.

Hello Kristine
Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. We want you to feel comfortable sharing good or bad news with us. I'm so sorry that your visit to Muir Woods & Sausalito with us fell short of expectations.
We are sorry that you suffered from heat during the trip.
Our technical team checked the bus's air conditioning, and it works. It was a hotter day than usual (in San Francisco, there are a few sweltering days).
We wish our guests could spend more time in Muir Woods but this national park has a limit of 90 minutes so that as many people as possible can enjoy the impressive Coastal Redwood trees.
In addition to being a charming town, Sausalito offers stunning views of San Francisco.
We would like to mention as well that our tour includes the Muir Woods ticket ($15) in addition to a guided tour, the stops at Sausalito, and the Golen Gate Bridge, giving much more value than a single shuttle.
In any case, we are always looking to improve any of our experiences, and reviews like yours push our team in that direction.
Thanks
Ignacio

We booked this tour mainly so we would have a ride from San Francisco and a reservation at Muir Woods but it was so much better than we had expected. We boarded at Post Street and our guide, Joseph, gave a really interesting running commentary as we passed through each neighborhood on our way Marin. The bus also stopped briefly at the Marin Headlands so we could take photos of the Golden Gate Bridge. Muir Woods was phenomenal and the 90 minutes we were allotted was plenty of time to do the Cliffside loop trail the guide recommended followed by a trip to the gift shop & cafe. We opted for the Sausalito Ferry add-on, the bus dropped us at 2pm and the ferry left at 4:25, giving us plenty of time for a delicious lunch at Poggio (again, guide recommended) and then a beautiful ferry trip back into San Francisco. If you're on the fence, book it. We did a lot this trip and this tour was one of our favorites.

This is a great way to visit the beautiful Muir Woods National Monument and see Sausalito. Our tour guide was very funny and gave us a bit of an overview as we drove out of SF. We stopped briefly to take photos of the Golden Gate Bridge after crossing it. The driver was very safe and excellent at navigating the very winding roads leading to Muir Woods. We spent an hour and a half at Muir Woods, which felt like plenty of time to go through the whole trail. The redwoods are gorgeous and a must-see. Sausalito has a seaside street with many restaurants and shops. The day we went it was pouring rain so didn’t get to explore as much as we’d have liked, but I’d highly recommend this half day trip. Bring a rain jacket, poncho, or umbrella just in case.

I did a Muir Woods/Sausalito tour and really enjoyed the experience. The guide/bus driver was great, and even though we were on an extremely tight schedule, he waited for a few extra minutes for us to get back on the bus. Overall, I think the tour was a great introduction to those places, however, if you really want to enjoy them, you need to spend much more time there than what the tour allows (1.5 hrs at Muir Woods and 1 hr in Sausalito, the other 2 hrs are allotted to the road). We also made an 8 min stop on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge to take pictures, so that was a nice addition to the tour.

Do you do a pick up from the cruise terminal?
Thanks

We were staying at Fisherman's Wharf so we chose that pickup spot. It's at the complete opposite end from the cruise terminals.
But still a pleasant enough walk. Or catch an electric tram, you might get one of the Melbourne ones.
The COVID-waiver which was dated from August 2021 states masks are required for travelers, etc. Is this still in effect??
I'm interested in biking back across the Golden Gate Bridge. What would be the best way to do that? Just rent a bike in Sausalito or is the 4 hour bike rental that's included would work?
Thanks

We were asked to wear a mask when we were in the bus. I don’t know any information about where to rent bikes. Sorry!
What time is back?

Our ferry left about 4:20 and was at Fisherman's wharf before 5. We waited at least 90 min for it, it was not running every 1/2 hour, may depend on the day of the week.
Hi, we are going to be in town on June 11 and 12, which day is less crowded in June, Sat or Sun?

I've never been on a weekend so I can't answer your question directly. I have been there twice though and neither time did it feel over crowded.

Can anyone tell me the pickup times from the Fisherman's Wharf location? I can't find them. Thank you.

Where do we get picked up from. San Franciso? Or do we have to drive to Sausalito?

Two pick up spots. One in union square and one in fishermans wharf. The bus takes you to Sausalito. It will also take you back to either spot, or you can take the ferry to fishermans wharf. Easy public transport from there back to union square.

Hi. I want to know if is still required for all travelers to wear a mask inside the bus and practice social distancing for protection of all?

In July we had to wear masks on the bus. I believe they follow what airlines require.
About how many travelers do you have on the bus? I am hoping for distancing between travelers on bus.

When I went in June we had to be masked while on the bus and they had an empty row between each group. Muir woods is very Majestic and well worth trip. You are not on the bus very long.
Do you pick up and drop off from hotels?
