Planning our trip to Hawaii, we knew we wanted to do a Pineapple Tour and we are glad we did it with Maui Pineapple tours. Booking was quite easy and dare I say affordable. When we got there, it was actually raining! But the tour must go on...and Hawaii rain only really lasts like 10 min. So we were escorted to the bus (i think about 13 people on the tour) by our driver/tour guide Moe. Moe was super nice and knowledgeable about pineapples and its history in Hawaii. He drove us to the site were they were actually hand-picking the pineapple and let us out of the bus to take pictures in different sites of pineapple fields in different growth ages. Then he dropped us off at the factory were they have the machinery to process the pineapples which is basically just washing, weighing and boxing. The most work the do on the pineapples is putting vegetable wax so it lasts a bit longer for shipping. Ken was the other tour guide that showed us around at he factory. He eventually led us to the area with all the pineapples we were going to take home and it was quite exciting, it was also there that he showed us the benefits of pineapple, how to pick them etc. At the end of the tour, Ken opened up two pineapples and as soon as he cut open the 2nd pineapple, I already knew it was gonna be amazing and it did not disappoint. They are a bit smaller than the ones we're used to (comes from Costa Rica) but they are just the perfect size to snack on and packed with flavor. We went home (to the airbnb) and my husband cut open the 2 pineapples we were sent home with and it was so sweet, juicy and succulent, it does not need anything more added to it.
So before our trip ended, we went back and bought more pineapples to take home to NY with us...they give you a nice box that can carry 4 pineapples so we took on the plane 8 pineapples with us. It doesn't even count as a carry on so you can still have your usually stuff. And on top of the 8 pineapples we took home, we ordered 8 more to be shipped because we wanted our family and friends to try this deliciousness.
I highly recommend you do the tour and buy a bunch of pineapples to take home with you! You'll not only have more knowledge about pineapples but you'll also have a better appreciation for the hard work that goes into making these babies as Maui Gold does it organic. They know what they are doing.

We weren’t sure what to expect but this was a really great activity for a non-beach excursion! I highly recommend Moe, our tour guide, who was very knowledgeable throughout the whole tour about the fruit, it’s history, farming it, production and how to best cut it. It was also really interesting learning why these pineapples taste so much better than Dole’s! (They really do!!) Great views of the ocean in the distance from the farm. My two teenagers even thought it was interesting! We then took a back road to meet up with the Road to Hana and checked out Twin Falls. If you go, bring sunglasses - it was windy and the dirt blows around up on the farm! Fun experience!

We arrived shortly before our 1:45PM start time for our Maui Pineapple Tour and were quickly checked in. Don’t forget to sign the online waiver when you make your reservation, it will save you from having to do it in the check in line. Our tour bus was driven by Cassidy, a young grade school teacher who knew a lot about the history and the production of Maui Gold pineapples. She was funny too which made the tour very enjoyable. Tasting the pineapples out in the fields, while learning about how they grow, was fun. We would recommend this tour to everyone and plan to order some Maui Gold pineapples for the holidays.

Oof, great reviews on this place, so my opinion looks to be unpopular. We heard great things, so I admit our expectations were high. Weather was terrible, so we had to switch vehicles mid- tour. We started out in the non-4x4 with the cleaning, sorting, and shipping. Was neat hearing about the process but no cleaning or sorting going on. People were packaging and that's where we received our pineapples to take home and a photo. Next, we went to a covered parking area for vehicles and tasted the pineapple, which was fantastic. After we switched to the 4x4 and went to tour the supposed working farm. The folks picking the pineapples were taking a break so we just drove around. It was so wet mud and rain covered the windows and we couldn't even really see out. We're from the Midwest, so maybe touring a farm wasn't the right choice, but at $75 per adult, we'd definitely recommend skipping this tour. Spend the almost $300 for family of 4 on a whale watching tour!!

This tour is not what I was expecting and my entire party was very disappointed. We spent 95% of the time on a small, hot tour bus. Underwhelming and overpriced. Spend your $80 elsewhere.
The tour bus takes you out to the pineapple field and shows you the growing pineapples at various stages of life. You’re allowed outside twice for a few minutes each. You do get to taste the pineapples. Very tasty. Then you head back to the sorting and cleaning area to collect your “airplane safe” pineapple. You don’t actually get to go inside the equipment area with the sorting pools. You just stand outside and listen to the guide explain the process.
While the bus was only half full (about 12 people), the guide would not allow us to open the windows (for COVID ventilation), and he was not strict about wearing masks. Not once did the tour guide tell guests to keep their masks on. Also, I, myself, had to ask a guest to put his mask back on after he had it off for several minutes while on the bus. The tour guide did nothing to help or support me in this endeavor when the guest become very angry at me.
COVID issues aside, this tour is extremely overpriced. I felt like I learned very little about pineapples and felt like the guide did not have the answers to any of my deeper questions.
Unless you’re on an unlimited budget with several weeks to waste, I recommend skipping this tour. Their are 100s of better ways to spend your precious time and money. However, you SHOULD drive next door to the glass blowing studio! They give you free tours and allow you to watch the artists at work. Really beautiful and interesting.

I marvel at the number of five star reviews this tour has received. After fees, $82 for a one (not 1.5 to 2) hour bus tour is incredibly excessive. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about pineapples and the history of the plantation. The tour of the fields was a 15 minute bus ride through the fields. We saw fields of different pineapple ages, which was interesting. My wife and I were excited to see a pineapple operation in action. Sadly, we didn't get to see any of the machinery in operation. Might as well have been an old abandoned factory for all we knew. Instead, we huddled around the old machinery and had two toothpicks worth of fresh pineapple taken from the field. Our bus barely made it across the street due to mechanical issues, stalling several times. I felt bad for the driver-he was trying to make the best of a tough situation. The best part of the experience? We received an email from Maui Pineapple Tours thanking us for the visit with photos as a keepsake. We didn't have any photos taken on our tour and the photos we were sent were from a different tour! I can't recommend this tour to anyone, most certainly at the price charged.

The afternoon tour would coordinate well with a dawn visit and hike at Haleakala or a bike run down Haleakala. The morning tour starts kind of late and it's not worth wasting an entire morning over. It is informative, and you get a nice view of west Maui from the fields. The pineapples they give you at the end of the tour are small-ish, and for the money charged, they could have been more generous. I do recommend making a reservation at the restaurant across the street (Hali'imaile General Store) for a good lunch or dinner while you are Upcountry. Our tour guide, Moe, was the right mixture of perfunctory and deferent for a jaded traveler to enjoy, and generous with the pineapple tasting.

I was expecting more. We weren't able to do the processing part of the tour due to inspection onsite, per our tour guide. If there will ever be a next time, I would ensure to have our hotel concierge to confirm first before reserving the tour if there are any part that will not be a part of the tour. We paid $162.54 for 2 ppl. And, it is quite deceiving when the tour is being described as you can taste pineapples as many as you want according to our concierge, in reality, there were 2 pineapples that were shared with the group of 20+. I was also expecting seeing ppl working the pineapple farm, there were none, except for the tour busses staff. I didn’t actually do any picking; tasted 2 kinds of pineapples. The brochure says "Come join us on Maui's tastiest tour and gain an exclusive look of a "working" plantation". Our guests enjoy exploring the pineapple fields, "picking and tasting delicious "varieties" of pineapples, and touring the processing factory." In reality. I would think they could've compensated for the missed tour with a souvenir shirt or cup or whiskey, or something. Paying $80+ per adult with 1 pineapple, to me it wasn't worth it. IMHO.

Please read ALL reviews before wasting your money! In short, this tour is described as you take a tour of a producing pineapple plantation. You will journey through the sprawling pineapple fields observing the harvesting, packing and shipping processes. Taste the various stages of the Maui Gold pineapple while learning the history and fascinating facts of this iconic fruit.” We rode a small bus to the plantation, changed buses at the plantation office at which time a male subject got on the bus and explained that everyone needed to sign a release because we were going on a working farm. He also said there would be a tasting at the end of the wines that they produce. He drove the road thru the field while he talked about equipment, timing of the crops, etc. He first stopped where we all got off and looked at pineapple that was small and beginning to grow. He stopped a second time where the pineapple appeared to be fully grown. He took pineapple out of a box, peeled and sliced into pieces to let everyone have a bite. After the second stop, we returned to the gift shop they have and then got back on another bus and returned to the port. There were no other workers seen, no one was ‘working’ or harvesting anything. He and a female cashier were the only two people there. There was nothing seen or shown about harvesting, packing and shipping processes.

Paid $25 each for a train ride that was approximately 20 minutes long. The other 20 minutes was a long drawn out show on how to break a coconut. The kid giving the tour spent most of his time chasing down his dog and apologizing to us. For a plantation there was very little to see. Very poorly maintained. We figured we would at least be offered a piece of pineapple. Very disappointing.

Aloha! We're so sorry to hear about your experience, however it doesn't sound like you joined us as we don't have a train or break coconuts, and our guests eat pineapple until their hearts are content! We'd love to have you out on our Maui Pineapple Tour if you still have time on your vacation!

We had booked a tour, an it was on their bus. I don’t think you can just show up without booking a tour ahead of time.
They do have a store if you want to just come shop an visit the store you can do that.

9:30am, 11:45am & 1:45pm. The tour lasts approximately 1-1/2 hours. Also, when you go to the website, it will let you know which time slots are available on each day. Consider booking in advance. Everything books-up quickly and in advance in Maui.
