Great stop for tourists in Maui!
We have a family of four (2 adults, a 13 yo and a 9 yo) and really enjoyed this tour. Plus everyone gets a free pineapple!

    Fun & Fascinating
My wife and I really enjoyed our visit to Maui Gold. The checkin process was smooth and our guide was funny & fascinating. And the pineapple... oh the pineapple... If I never have a Dole pineapple again, that'd be just fine. Maui Gold, all the way!

We had such a great time learning about growing pineapple, seeing the fields, hearing from experts, and tasting the delicious fruit (cut fresh from the field). Highly recommend!

    Don’t skip this tour!
Rudy was the perfect guide- he knows the pineapple business! We learned so much. The pineapple tasting was delicious, of course! Maui Gold is the way to go. I had 2 cases shipped home to share with friends and family.

    Great Tour - Very Informative
Our tour guide Mo was great. He was informative, funny, and very patient with a child on our tour who had lots of questions. I highly recommend this tour.

We were lead to believe we were getting a tour of the distillery. We were then asked to get on a bus to see the fields to which we thought might have been part of that tour. Upon returning to the distillery, we were advised that the person who does the distillery tours was sick and they weren't giving those tours today. Shiloh wasn't an excellent guide and is the only reason why you got a 3 instead of a 1!

    Great family trip
We were on the island for an extended family vacation and to celebrate my Mom’s passing. This would have been a tour she would have loved. Pineapples were her favorite. The employees were so knowledgeable and friendly. They were very accommodating to our special needs.

    Great tour. Learn a lot.
If you like to learn where your food comes from, this tour is for you. You see the fields they are grown in at every stage. And you also see the processing facilities where they box them up. It is not cheap though but probably in line with other costs on Maui.

    Maui Gold Plantation Tour!
We had the best knowledgeable guide Garett was filling in for 2 people who called in sick over the weekend. Not going to lie glad they did (not at Garett's expense) But he was amazing and had a wealth of information to pass along. We were blessed! Came home with 4 pineapples that are perfect. Good job!

This tour is not what I was expecting and my entire party was very disappointed. We spent 95% of the time on a small, hot tour bus. Underwhelming and overpriced. Spend your $80 elsewhere.

The tour bus takes you out to the pineapple field and shows you the growing pineapples at various stages of life. You’re allowed outside twice for a few minutes each. You do get to taste the pineapples. Very tasty. Then you head back to the sorting and cleaning area to collect your “airplane safe” pineapple. You don’t actually get to go inside the equipment area with the sorting pools. You just stand outside and listen to the guide explain the process.

While the bus was only half full (about 12 people), the guide would not allow us to open the windows (for COVID ventilation), and he was not strict about wearing masks. Not once did the tour guide tell guests to keep their masks on. Also, I, myself, had to ask a guest to put his mask back on after he had it off for several minutes while on the bus. The tour guide did nothing to help or support me in this endeavor when the guest become very angry at me.

COVID issues aside, this tour is extremely overpriced. I felt like I learned very little about pineapples and felt like the guide did not have the answers to any of my deeper questions.

Unless you’re on an unlimited budget with several weeks to waste, I recommend skipping this tour. Their are 100s of better ways to spend your precious time and money. However, you SHOULD drive next door to the glass blowing studio! They give you free tours and allow you to watch the artists at work. Really beautiful and interesting.

The afternoon tour would coordinate well with a dawn visit and hike at Haleakala or a bike run down Haleakala. The morning tour starts kind of late and it's not worth wasting an entire morning over. It is informative, and you get a nice view of west Maui from the fields. The pineapples they give you at the end of the tour are small-ish, and for the money charged, they could have been more generous. I do recommend making a reservation at the restaurant across the street (Hali'imaile General Store) for a good lunch or dinner while you are Upcountry. Our tour guide, Moe, was the right mixture of perfunctory and deferent for a jaded traveler to enjoy, and generous with the pineapple tasting.

Although Ken our guide had a good sense of humor the tour lacked any real interest. We expected to see the plantation and processing plant in operation , but all we seen was idle equipment. and a few workers finishing their shift in the fields. There really was nothing to see here and they should be embarrassed to charge tourists $65.00 for this event.

My husband and I toured yesterday and throughly enjoyed the tour but can only give it a rating of three because we both felt it was overpriced. We paid $65.00 each and felt the tour to be worth $45.00 each. The guide shared the history of the industry and several stops along the way about growing the fruit out in the field but we were not able to see the workers processing the fruit for market, only a quick walk through and had to image how the process worked. Enjoyed the tour just a very expensive 90 minutes.

Mahalo for joining us! We're so glad you enjoyed the tour! The workers do move around the farm depending on it's needs, they've gotta keep the pineapples happy!

Excellent tour of the Maui GOLD Pineapple farm where we learned how the Maui Gold pineapple is grown, picked, packaged and even how it tastes! Yummy and sweet 🍍😋 The pineapple tour was in a bus and even though the day was wet we stayed dry inside. We did leave the bus to tour the processing plant and then a couple of times out in the field. Wear shoes with a good grippy sole. We paid for the tasting tour at the adjoining Haliimaile Distilling Company which was very good. Very interesting to taste vodka made from pineapples. Worth the $80 each for both tours. We got to take a box of pineapples home (airplane approved) and a take-home from the distillery was a couple of bamboo straws. We had no trouble bringing the pineapples home to Canada, just wish we had bought a couple more 😊

The family was really excited for the tour, but in the end we were underwhelmed and feeling as though we had been fleeced by a tourist trap. The quality of service and customer service were poor. The old shuttle bus left us wondering if it was capable of making the 90 minute trip. My only regret in visiting Maui is booking this tour. I would not recommend wasting your money here and instead advise that you look elsewhere for your vacation fun.

This was not our first pineapple plantation tour but it was by far the roughest and most disorganized tour we went on. The tour guide drove like we were in a safari vehicle full speed no matter the road conditions. She also seemed to be in a hurry to get everything done like it was a burden to give us the tour. We did enjoy the pineapples we received at the end of the tour, they were nicely packed for our plane trip home. I have never been on a tour were the tour guide mentioned several times to not forget the tip. I have never went without giving a guide a tip but I have to admit I did not give my normal size tip because we all just felt like it was a rush and the several reminders of the tips and the fact she kept stating she was ready for her next job because of her astronomical sign ( whatever that means). All in all the plantation was well maintained the tour would have been nicer with a different guide just felt too clinical to our group. Not to mention one of our members has back issues and the driving at full speed over the rough roads was a little ridiculous. The pineapples are very very good!!!

This was an informative and tasty tour. Our guide was Ken. He was informative and entertaining and managed to appeal to both my 85-year old MiL and my pre-teen son. It was fascinating and the pineapples are delicious. In fact I bought a monthly subscription for the pineapples - I’m tired if eating tasteless fruit from the store.

The guide was funny, and super knowledgeable. The tour overall was just kind of boring and really not worth the super high price for the 2-3 pineapples we got. Also the bus has an odd number of seats so my wife got stuck in the front of the bus and I was in the back which also kind of ruined the tour for us.

The Maui Pineapple Tour was just okay. The tour guide had obviously done a number of tours that day and was not very invested in giving us his best. I learned a few things, but not enough to justify the cost of the tour. What you're paying for of course is someone's time but also to taste the pineapple that you get to take home. It was cool to see the processing plant and all, but this activity was not a must do in Maui. I would recommend others save their money and buy Maui Gold Pineapples at the airport!
