    Turtles!!!
A small group tour driving along the road to Hana, with fabulous scenery, through the rainforest, past waterfalls and beaches. You will also see the turtles, not the small ones but the big turtles, such a privilege!

Lines for everything. Waste of time.
If you just want a Dole T shirt, go ahead and stop. There are LINES for everything!! Waited 2.5 hours for a 20 minute train ride. They hide the true line so you don’t know what you are in for. Wasted half a day at this place! Don’t go.

Worst tour ever - Buyer Beware
This is the worst tour I have ever done (and I have traveled extensively around the world). Buyer beware. Firstly, it was advertised as a 9am to 4pm full-day tour, but we were picked up at 10am and dropped off just after 2pm. The highlight was supposed to be the Volcano National Park, but we spent only 30mins at the Volcano house lookout and then we left. Our driver was not a guide, so we had no commentary (no advice on how best to see the volcano etc) and we spent a lot of time driving aimlessly back and forth - to accommodate the other couple's helicopter inclusion. We didn't follow the itinerary at all, we didn't visit or see: Sulfur banks, chain of crater road, visitor centre, volcano steam vents, Macadamia nut factory, Richardson Black sand beach, Wailuku river state park, or get a commentary of historic Hilo. It was a total waste of our money. We later booked a tour with a different company and they did a great job (Kapohokine Tours). I have contacted Dynamic Tours several times, but they don't respond. I'm angry that we paid a lot for this tour and I feel totally ripped off.

Long ride to the dole plantation
Very good time. Bought several souvenirs. But never took the tour or train ride. Made it on our last day in Honolulu. Used the transit system. From Waikiki. Easy to get there. But it is time-consuming

    Book Now, Stop Comparing Others
Truly was a great experience! Our driver Justin D made the entire experience! Completely knowledgeable and entertaining. Was able to cross off so many things on the want to do list for Maui. Sounds like a long trip but completely worth it to be able to travel the entire right side of the island.

Amazing tour with great local insight
Tour company communicated well prior to the tour and confirming pick up time and details. Our pickup was right on time and we stopped and picked up 2 more groups for a total of 12 people. Lepa our tour guide was amazing she was from Hana knew all the locals and was so confident driving the road. We went the reverse route to avoid traffic and we were able to cover a lot of ground. Stops were great lots to see and the local details and insight on culture and history that Lepa provided were great. Food provided could have been a little better but we brought snacks and the stop at Hana farms had great options as well. We had lunch on the black sands beach and swimming was great. As we wrapped up we stopped at Ho’okipa Beach and saw lots of turtles on the beach coming and going. It was a long day and well worth it. Lepa made it magical

    Just OK
This was a stop we could have skipped and definitely spent too much time here. The maze was run down and over-hyped. The train ride was also showing signs of wear and tear, but appreciated the information. Not worth waiting an hour for. If you are going to stop, get the Dole Whip with fresh pineapple. That was the best part of the experience! The gift shop is large and has a variety of cool things as well.

Time well spent on the Road to Hana w/ Lisa
I don't know if you can request drivers but if you can I highly recommend Lisa! My wife and I had an amazing time with her and the rest of our Ohana during our Road to Hana. Lisa took the time to learn all of our names and as much about us that we wanted to share. We saw a bunch of waterfalls and got to swim in a pond fed by one. We stopped and swam at a black sand beach. Learned and watched how chocolate is made - I would never have guessed what real cacoa fruit taste like. The thing that stood out most of all with Lisa and everyone we encountered with her, was the sense of family. It wasn't fake either. Everyone we ran into knew Lisa and Lisa knew them and the interactions were genuine and kind. 10 out of 10 would recommend and do it again!

    Day Snorkeling trip in Maui
The snorkeling trip was very nice on the way to the island we saw dolphins and it was very enjoyable. On the way back we were served lunch and we had high wins and rough water . The crew handled everything and the the trip the best they could in the conditions. They were very attentive to all the passengers

    Wonderful and Relaxing
We had multiple stops along the way. Thomas was friendly, helpful and informative. I would not have seen nearly as much had chosen to make the drive myself. I was pleased that we could make the full circle. Negative.... hmmm.... could have used condiments for the sandwich. :))

Day trip to Lahaina Maui Hawaii
Road trip very scenic although they are having a drought so not very green. You get quite close to the wind chargers. Very impressive environmental standard. We next visited the Outlet Stores. At 5p there was a Hula show.very colorful. Included a 4 and 8 year old. After that we walked along the beach street where there are many restaurants. We ate at a fish place (THAT'S ALL IT'S CALLED) OVERLOOKING THE OCEAN. EX ELLENT ENTREES. I had Mahi Mahi and son and wife had a mixed plate of fish. Very active area after dark. Very romantic.

    Disappointed
A little disappointed in this trip. Have heard the road to Hana is incredible, but I thought only 2 stops (totally 1 hour 45 min) during 10 hours devoted was a bit too little. Our tour guide was obviously a nice person, but alerted us of perils and made us feel rushed at our stops. I wish I had gotten more out of this experience. For the price, it did not deliver.

    Pineapple Express Stop
A little out of the way for a visit to Dole alone but if you can incorporate a stop into your trip then it might be worth the 30-45 minute stop. We quickly found a parking spot and walked the yard and gift shop and were good with just that. There is a train ride that’ll take riders through the plantation, a garden and maze. We didn’t opt for any of those. Pretty cool piece of Americana so drop in, grab a sample and take a look around.

We booked a 10-hour full day tour of the road to Hana with Dynamic Hawaii on our first stop of our Pride of America cruise. Meeting place was at the Maui mall which is a 10-minute walk from the ship. Our van was fully booked with Chris as our driver/guide.

We stopped by Safeway to pick up our sandwich lunch which is included in the tour. The road is narrow and winding going to the bamboo forest. We had stops at several state parks. The tour has a stop at a rocky beach park for photo and a a stop at a black stone beach for lunch. We also had a stop at a park with a waterfall. There was time to swim on the pool and even go beneath the cold waterfall. Chris joined the dip to ensure that no guest will drown. The rest of the tour is mostly sight-seeing inside the van. If you are on the cruise, this is a lower priced option to book versus the ship excursion offer while in Maui.

After experiencing this tour, I don't know why you'd want to drive the route yourself. Our driver/guide, Malia knew the roads well, as well as the standing etiquette for dealing with oncoming vehicles on 1-lane bridges (there are a lot). The tour started fairly early, and we took a counter-clockwise route. This seemed like it would be a good idea as the shadows from cars beyond many of the sharp curves would give them away and add to the safety of the trip.
In addition to being an excellent driver and wonderful, extremely knowledgeable guide, Malia showed the Aloha Spirit when dealing with a disgruntled passenger from another tour van. He was sure that he had gotten off Malia's van and was determined to get back on. She was so calm and kind, even though he deserved a slap upside the head. Finally, his driver came out of the store and steered him back into the correct van.

What an amazing experience this was! Our tour guide, Lepa, was so much fun and had so much information to share. She is a local and knows how to drive this tricky road! She was very amenable to stopping wherever we wanted even if it wasn't an agreed upon stop per the itinerary. When the group decided we wanted to stop at food trucks for lunch instead of eating the provided sandwich, she was all for letting us do that.
Amazing views, amazing experience...loved every bit of it. HIghly recommend this tour company as they drive the entire length of the road, not just halfway.
You won't regret signing up for this!

We have been down the road to Hana on a previous trip so we thought we were ready for the trip. The ride down was ok hardly no traffic. The return trip was a different story we were in a group of maybe 6-8 vehicles the front vehicle stopped looked at the one lane bridges and proceeded. On one bridge we were halfway through it and a tour bus entered from the other direction. Well hand waving escalates into a yelling match now we have 10-15 vehicles in each direction backed up. We had to back out of the bridge and let them bye as the van passed they were flipping people off and yelling obscenities. The locals make it clear they don’t want you there. They have some nice attractions but it’s not worth getting run off the road or have your car broken into while you are looking at something.

Why are you putting your personal experience on Viator. If you drove to Hana on your own, it must have been a very sad day. I wish you would have let us take you on an adventure to Hana. We have the best drivers on the road. 90% of our tour guide is born and raised in Hana or Maui. One thing they know is to show respect and let the locals pass first. Because they are there either going to work, going back home, getting supplies for the week. it took us 30 years to put current team together and I think we have the perfect drivers that can help you get through safely around Hana and back. You are here on Maui to enjoy. Let the Dynamic Team do the driving through 640 turns and curves, 59 single lane bridges, enjoy the scenery, listen to stories told while sitting, taking pictures out the window. LET DYNAMIC TEAM TAKE YOU ON A TOUR. DON'T TORTURE YOURSELF BY DRIVING THE "DIVORCE ROAD." Book it here on Viator. You will enjoy every moment of it.

The road to Hana was great, I loved the black sand beach. Nancy was a great tour Guide who stopped at multiple waterfalls. One of the waterfalls we seen one of the local children jump off of the water fall with ease.

If you are adventurous enough, this winding scenery hugging the coastline awaits you!!!! There are over 600+ bends along this narrow roads, the view is out of this world, here are some tips.

1. For day trippers, leave early, and try to make it back to the town of Paia before dusk.
2. Pack snacks, munchies and water. Support the locals, and grab other goodies. For meals the Huli chickens by locals are great!!!! Don’t expect lots of big city restaurants on your way. City of Paia have few good joints.
3. Number of waterfalls to enjoy, Along with swim holes, great adventure.
4. Hana coast can be dangerous for swimmers, please do not swim alone, and always check the conditions.
5. Black sand beach is within state park, you must make reservations in advance.

If you’re thinking about doing the Road to Hana on your own, don’t do it. Book this instead. The price is steep but definitely worth it. Although 12 hours sounds very long, you will have so much fun during all of those 12 hours. A special shout out to our tour guide “Mak” (Makana). He is so awesome. He is also very knowledgeable on Maui because he has lived there all his life. He makes you feel like family and is genuinely a nice person. We got to go to the black sand beach. At all the waterfalls we visited, he would cliff jump into them. And he is also really good at spotting the smallest details. It was a great tour and great experience that gave us memories of a lifetime. Definitely a must-do!

Take a guided tour we were a group of 7 along with 2 other pairs plus the driver/tour guide from Dynamic Tours. The driver, Rudy was fun, informative and more importantly extremely careful. Navigating the narrow winding roads needs someone familiar with the terrain. Given the tourism dollars this attraction brings, the Govt of Hawaii should repair and maintain the existing road on the "backside". There is a "zen" feeling about the whole location. The waterfalls, the bee stand, the black sand beach, all in all was wonderful. Another thing that could be improved is the toilet situation along this famous trip. All in all I would rate it a 4.8/5

Our tour guide, Kaipo, was so lively and upbeat. As a native of Maui, he knew so much about each part of the island. The day trip is relatively long (about 10 hours), but so worth it. The views from the South side of the island, past Hana, were our favorite. He gave stellar recommendations from a local perspective, and was very accommodating. There was quite a bit of rain on the drive, but with a tour guide like Kaipo, we couldn’t haven’t asked for a better day. Thank you!
