I travel a lot and this was one of the best tours ever. Scott seemed like a family friend showing "his" island - PLUS he just happened to be an archeologist, anthropologist, historian, botanist, geologist, and volcanologist, There was nothing of interest to us Scott couldn't satisfy in personalized conversation - including some extemporaneous reflection about the '70s rock bands we both liked. He showed us all the "postcard" highlights PLUS an interesting assortment of "locals only" spots that helped us appreciate what makes Kauai such a special place - even among the other Hawaiian islands.

I can’t say enough good things about Domi!! He was the best part of Hawaii! Need an amazing trip, this is it! We had amazing views, learned more about Hawaiian culture, beliefs, and traditions than you can imagine! He had us laughing from the time we met him! He truly is ohana after this trip! We went on a lot of trips, but this was the trip that made it all worth it! Do it, book this trip, you won’t regret it! Mahalo for an amazing day!

Outstanding experience!
This was one of the BEST if not the best tour we have ever taken, in the USA or overseas. Domi was our guide and he was incredibly personable, friendly, funny, informative, and proud of his Hawaiian heritage. He taught us Hawaiian phrases, history, and regaled is with so many great stories about the island history and where various movies were produced. Domi's tour was non-stop entertainment and fun! The highlight was when he shared his singing and ukulele playing talents with us with a beautiful rendition of Over the Rainbow. He was amazing! Additionally, the Wailua river boat tour was also very, very good and the guides on that tour were also funny and informative! We HIGHLY recommend this tour, especially if this is your first time in Kuai'i!

The tour guide Domi Ragsac is the best tour guide ever. His knowledge of Kauai is phenomenal. We had so much fun learning the names and pronunciation of Hawaiian birds, trees, flowers, fish and all about history and traditions. We took this tour with Domi 11 years ago and we’re excited to have him guide us again. We were driven in a van that holds 7 passengers comfortably as we were driven to beaches and and historical sites. We also enjoyed watching him perform at the Plantation Luau.

Nice day with our guide Domo.
Informative & freindly, he worked hard to share his genuine experience of life on Kauai. I have read the reviews of those who had 14-15 in the van (a long wheelbase Sprinter) and I can imagine that would be a very different experience as a lot if the tour was "drive by" to conserve time & see as much as possible. Our group was only 6 and all was very comfortable and Domo was kind and gave us a personnal experience. He always opened doors for us and helped those in need in & out of the Van.

A few pros and cons of this trip - so worth weighing this up before you book. This is all for the non river section of this tour - the main section with a driver seeing the ‘best’ of kauai:

Pros:
- the guide was a lovely guy, he was attentive and funny, none of the remainder of this review is reflective of the guide. He was very knowledgable - but be wary, it’s non stop talking - if you’re cool with that then perfect.
- the sights you do see are great, really beautiful places.
- lunch wasn’t bad at all, nice little local place.

Cons:
- for the price you pay, you don’t see remotely enough of the island. not even close. we left the van twice; once for the lighthouse stop & once for the beach pier. (Not including the lunch stop). We drove past lookout points and we’re told to take pictures of waterfalls and vistas through tinted van windows…. Insanity.
We were driven through neighbourhoods where rich people lived - maybe some people like that - but on such a beautiful island with incredible vistas - maybe less celebrity homes and more of the actual island.

- lunch, be warned! No Apple Pay at the current place so bring your card or cash

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the tour. Our tour covers the north and east shores of Kauai which is about 40% of Kauai. It is difficult to cover much more in the six to seven hours that we spend touring.

Steve was a great guide! We really enjoyed all the information he shared , his lunch recommendations and everything about it. He remembered everyone’s name and talked directly to us as he spoke. I really liked not having to drive in all the traffic myself.

We booked this tour through Norwegian Cruise Line. On a positive note, our guide, Domi, was very informative, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. He brought each lady a plumeria flower to wear during the excursion along with a shell for everyone. He, also, played the ukulele during our stop for lunch. We stopped at all the locations included in the description. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. 15 adults on a 15 passenger van is not conducive to an enjoyable 6 hour excursion. I'm sure the person sitting in the front seat had a much different experience than we did as two of the four adults stuffed in the back seat. Several places the guide pointed out we were unable to see because they were in front of the van. We did not have a view and were unable to adjust our seating because we were so cramped. I see on the Kauai Luxury Transportation & Tours website they limit this tour to 14 people. That would have made a BIG difference! We did not follow the itinerary included in the description. We had our picnic "lunch" at 8:30 AM. There was one picnic table for 15 people. So, obviously everyone could not sit down and enjoy their "lunch". We did not start at the Wailua River and Fern Grotto, we finished there. It was very hot and uncomfortable. I think it would have been much more pleasant earlier in the day as was indicated in the description. Lunch closer to 11:00 or 12:00 would have been more enjoyable, too. Sorry I was unable to write a more positive review but this was honestly the worst experience we have had on any excursion.

Discover Kauai Fabulous tour!
This is the best tour I have been on both from sightseeing and the operator. It is a family owned business and they provided excellent, knowledgeable information about history, Legends, current day information. Very friendly and made for a very pleasant day. Also home made prepared lunch just like mom used to make was a great switch from cruise and restaurant food. I can't say enough about this tour or the people that run it. It was called Discover Kauai.

Beautiful Kauai Tour

The Best of Kauai Tour was great! Orlando, our tour guide, was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We were able to see and learn so much about Kauai in 6 hours that we would have never been able to do on our own. The vehicle was comfortable and clean. A special acknowledgement to tour staff covering the phones. I had lots of questions and called the office more than once. Each time staff was courteous and patient. I was impressed with the Kauai Luxury Transportation & Tours service from beginning to end. If friends and family ask when they plan to travel to Kauai, I will highly recommend the Best of Kauai Tour by Land and River.
