    Fantastic time with Lynne
Lynne our tour guide was by far the best part of the whole experience. She is full of knowledge and clearly has a passion for what she does that makes the tour that much more enjoyable. The stops along the way, the history lesson, and the food were all amazing. The entire experience is well worth it. @lifeworthtrekking

    Very Well Done
We recently took this tour while our son and daughter in law were visiting. We have been on numerous food tours across the US and in a couple of other countries. This one was very well done. Our guide (and company owner), Larry, provided a very nice tour that included a number of food stops as well as quite a bit of information about Roanoke. It was nicely balanced and the walking distance was reasonable, even on a warm day. We started at Hotel Roanoke, which might have been our favorite food stop. We walked across the bridge to downtown and tried several very nice restaurants......the shrimp and grits at Billy's were very good. We also stopped at the iconic Texas Tavern (more for the history and tradition rather than the food). The tour ended with a couple of dessert stops. The tour has only been available as a private booking (due to COVID) but it sounds like they will soon be back to normal operations. It's nice to see that a local company is surviving all of the recent challenges. We highly recommend this tour!

Great mix of food and intro tour to Roanoke!
Larry was a great guide, friendly and informative. Communication was excellent ahead of the tour. Fantastic variety/mix of foods on the tour with nice sample sizes that left us all satisfied/full by the end. Larry have some good background on the city and it’s history and a good feel for the vibe of the city. An easy, well paced walk.

A great way to learn about the area.
As we satisfied our appetites we learned about Roanoke's interesting history. Several diverse cultures helped to shape the area and we were able to sample some of these foods. This experience was way better than just going out for lunch!

    Great food, great history
Becky was an excellent tour guide. We really enjoyed the history and the restaurant stops! More vegetarian options would have made the experience perfect.

Fun way to spend time with adult children/grandchild
Sunday brunch worked for our timing. My husband and I are locals looking for ways to entertain an adult child and her adult son. The Brunch Food Tour was perfect. The food was tasty. Our guide gave us lots of history we did not know. Definitely would do again...or another food tour.

    Lots of Fun
We are kind of locals but thought it would be interesting to try different restaurants and walk around the city. We had a great time. The food was plentiful, the walk was not difficult, the guide was knowledgeable. What a fun way to spend a fall afternoon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Roanoke Food Tour! Becky was so friendly & a wealth of knowledge. The tour included 6 stops with a ton of history info in relation to Roanoke. The food portions were decent sizes. You will absolutely enjoy the shrimp & grits at Billy’s! We were definitely full! Thanks again Becky for your hospitality!

Roanoke Food Tours is a great way to taste and learn about the city!
My husband and I have taken two Roanoke Food Tours. First, to assess the experience; second, to bring a group of out of towners. The experience scored big both times! As lifelong Roanokers, we learned more about our City than we though we knew. Plus, the restaurants who participate in the tastings put their best foot forward, with small bites of their best menu items. It's a comfortable walk around downtown, with lots of history and architectural history included. You will not be disappointed, and you will not leave hungry!

    Great experience!
During the tour we sampled several different foods from restaurants, was delicious and the history and information that we learned was amazing. We have lived here for many years but did not know the rich history!

    Wonderful!
I did the Saturday lunch tour. It was better than expected! I had family in from out of town and wanted to do something different with them. I am so glad I did! They had a great time and we learned a lot about Roanoke's history. We also sampled some great food! I would definitely do it again. I want to try the brunch tour next.

Great way to get to familiar with the city & enjoy food along the way.
Roanoke has developed into a nice little city with interesting history & a diversity of food. We all enjoyed ourselves & the food wasn't just brunch oriented. Recommend to anyone who likes different types of food.

    Amazing tour
I went to Roanoke alone and had the great experience of choosing this tour, with the best guide Ned. He is very competent and knows exactly how to create the best atmosphere for the group. The food is really and we had such a great time today. I’d really be back here.

    Great Brunch Tour!
I took the Sunday Brunch tour and it was great! We learned a lot about Roanoke from our terrific guide Amelia and had fun with our group of 13 participants. Everyone restaurant even made accommodations for the vegetarian and the gluten free guests. I would highly recommend this tour for some wonderful food and history.

Terrie was amazing. She knew oodles about Roanoke's history and was friendly and energetic throughout. She was sensitive to our needs (for vegetarian food and for need to stop and rest). Food was delicious. Places were interesting. There were 8 other people on our tour and it was delightful to learn about Roanoke and meet our fellow travelers.

We are so glad we took this tour! Our guide, Lynne, did an excellent job; she was careful to include everyone, set the right pace, and was a nonstop source of information that gave us a new vision of Roanoke. The restaurant selections were well done, varied, and delicious! We would not hesitate to take another tour with this company. We heartily encourage anyone. Interested at all in Roanoke to take this fun, tasty, and informative tour!

Very nice tour of the downtown area with six food tastings, a stop at the Taubman museum and the history of Roanoke. Our tour guide Lynne was very knowledgeable of the history of Roanoke from its original heyday with the railroads, it’s down turn in the 50’s to 80’s and it revitalization. Tasting ranged from bisque in Hotel Roanoke Regency Room to a Cheesey at the Texas Tavern. We liked one of the stops (Billy’s) so much they we immediately made dinner reservations for that night.

This was a great way to see downtown Roanoke, learn some local history and get some great food. Our guide was great and really took time to talk about the history of the area. Whereas some food and history tours make the history part feel like something to kill time between restaurants, she really took time to delve in the history in general and also linking it back to the places we were eating. We have been on many foot tours and this was one of the best.

All of us had a great time on this food n culture tour even though it started to rain halfway thru. It was a nice variety of resturants and foods to taste including seafood bisque, Lebanese, shrimp n grits, beer, cheese burger, smoothie, chocolates. The history of the Roanoke, its buildings, the people and development were enlightening. The view from the art museum and Center in the Square were an added bonus. Thanks for an enjoyable afternoon.👍

Very informative, even for lifelong Roanokers, but don't show up hungry.

Our tour guide, Ned, was excellent. He provided just the right amount of commentary on history, fun facts, and local lore, without overselling and boring our group. Food selections were tasty and diverse. However, portions were quite small for average hearty eaters.

Awesome mix of history and food! Ned was the best tour guide- he was so knowledgeable about the history of the area and it was never boring! The tour is very thoughtful about the stops and you get to see a really interesting side of Roanoke through food. The food was very delicious and there were some unique dishes on there. Additionally, he provided so much really cool information between each stop to learn about Roanoke. Definitely recommend to anyone who comes in town :-)

We had a fantastic tour with Lynne, who was a wealth of information about the city, the architecture, the area, and the food. She had a terrific way of blending the historical aspects of Roanoke with the cultural influences which always came around to the food. And the food was amazing! We sampled delicious small portions of a signature item at each of the places we went. Lynne's voice was easy to hear and pleasant to listen to. She seemed to enjoy her job and her enthusiasm was apparent throughout the tour. We had a schedule to keep but we never felt rushed. We have been on many walking tours of various cities all over the world and this was one of the best. We highly recommend this tour!!

Booked this tour for a girls weekend. Thought it would be a fun activity since none of us had been to Roanoke. This tour exceeded our expectations! The food was good, and our tour guide Ned’s love of history was outstanding. We enjoyed it and went to some of the restaurants that we visited later for dinner and dessert. Ned also helped on information regarding a hiking trail that we wanted to take. The trail was great and viewed were beautiful. Thank you Ned from the southeastern Ohio girls (old women)!

Our tour guide Ned's passion for history was evident from the moment the tour started. I was visiting family who live in VA and learning history from someone so passionate about it made this Bostonian really enjoy the tour. The food was fantastic. Ned was knowledgeable, funny, intelligent and made it a very fun experience.
Thank you very much!
