Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- elizabethjprt0 contributionsIncredible Camino experience!Incredible experience. The accommodation was fantastic, food was amazing and the luggage was transferred without any issues at all. An amazing experience, highly recommend!Written September 12, 2024
- 164daniew0 contributionsWalking the Camino NorteThis was my 4th Camino through CaminoWays.com. I started with the Camino Frances from Sarria, then did the Camino Portuguese from Porto, then the Camino Primitivo from Oviedo and now the Camino Norte from Gijon and I have never had any problem before or during my Caminos. Their arrangements are absolutely first class and I highly recommend them.Written September 12, 2024
- A2182OZjimt0 contributionsHighly recommended!Highly recommended. CaminoWays helped us plan our trip exactly as we wanted. The boutique hotels they reserved for us exceeded our expectations. They responded immediately to all our questions. Overall, our highest recommendation.Written July 29, 2024
- Harley D0 contributionsCaminoWays was excellent. This trip worked out perfectly for us and it’s the only way I would ever do it! The facilities were excellent. (We chose the intermediate cost facilities.) The food was fine. The luggage showed up every day. The walk was excellent. And not an obtrusive amount of other Walkers. It was beautiful. CaminoWays did an excellent job.Written July 29, 2024
- R3626XIchristinec0 contributionsPilgrimageThis tour company was recommended to us and did not let us down. Accommodations were lovely. Luggage arrived safely every day. Pre-trip information was helpful. If you decide to bike, which is the atypical path, do your homework, there are many places that are difficult or impassable on bike. Otherwise, fabulous trip!Written July 25, 2024
- avenjoel0 contributionsGreat trip, but not for bikingCamino Ways did an excellent job of coordinating this trip. The bikes were in good shape and the all important luggage transfers were flawless. Paying extra for "cottages" was a waste as all were hotels. The hotels were all clean and in several cases directly on the Camino route. The one out of the way location provided us transportation to dinner. All were very accommodating. The costal route for the Portuguese way is not bike friendly. It is for hiking only! Do NOT ride this route. It is very difficult and I am an experienced mountain biker. Although Camino Ways provides lots of resources in the way of maps, I highly suggest the Camino Ninja App. If you get off course it is the easiest way to find the Camino.Written July 25, 2024
- ronelv9840 contributionsAwesome experienceI did my booking through Camino Ways. I did not want to arrange all the accommodation by myself and preferred standard rooms with bathrooms. Walking the Caminos was a wonderful experience. I met wonderful people and made good friends. The accommodation was good but there were also places that I stayed which were not so good, but I made the best of it. The breakfast's provided at the hotels that I stayed at were substandard. Dinners in the hotel restaurants were very expensive. The daily walking distances were okay in general but there were days where the distances were over 30 consecutively in France. There were also days that I had to travel by taxis between towns where no accommodation was available. This was also challenging. Camino Ways made all the accommodation arrangements and render and excellent service during my walk. I am thankful that I used an agency to assist with all the arrangements.Written July 24, 2024
- Ronald W0 contributionsGreat Experience!Flawless experience! Camino Ways thinks of everything. Our Camino trek went off without a glitch. I highly recommend this service.Written July 24, 2024
- abcdeghsz0 contributionsSmooth & Sure Support for our Sojourn in SpainMy wife and I recently completed a nine day Sarria-Santiago pilgrimage that was an extraordinary journey. We knew/decided even before we reached St. James' Cathedral June 26 that we wanted to do it again. A good part of that decision is because of the smooth and sure support that CaminoWays provided our group for the French Way walk. The hotels they chose for us were just right and a welcomed end to the day's walk. The two out-of-town and ancient Family Manors in Morgade and Ventas de Naron were exceptional and magical -- so glad they put us up there. And, of course, the baggage service was seamless and just what the doctor ordered. My lack of real APP/cell phone expertise meant we couldn't make much use of the CaminioWay maps and directions that were available online (and in Pedrouzo-Rua they would have really helped me find the Pension Che!) but that was my bad. Alll considered, it seems we are CaminoWay boosters and will certainly use them for our Portuguese Way pilgrimage next year!Written July 20, 2024

- helenlA6465JR0 contributionsHappy to book with Camino Ways againMy friend and I did our fourth Camino walk with Camino Ways this summer. We walked from Ourense to Santiago. All the arrangements they had made for us fell into place nicely.... our Airport transfers, our luggage transfers daily and the accommodations they had booked for us. We could relax and enjoy our walking experience knowing they had everything planned in advance for us.Written July 18, 2024
- Tourist214420185320 contributionsOutstandingMy sister and i did the Camino Portuguese Coastal (and some central combined) for 3 weeks. Camino Ways were excellent throughout the whole experience. We wanted to change a few things that they were happy to accomodate. Our hotels were fantastic (especially The Parador in Baiona), the customer service was spot on and we felt like we were in good hands throughout the whole experience. I cannot recommend Camino Ways highly enough. This entire experience from start to finish was out of this world. Since we have returned to our normal lives, my sister and I refer to our Camino experience as a dream. I will be singing Camino Ways praises to anyone and everyone as I have nothing but positive feedback for them. Next Camino will definitely be with Camino Ways!!!Written July 16, 2024

- BridgitH90 contributionsIndifferent service and lack of interestWe cycled the Italian Via Francigena with Caminoways . Lucca to Rome Firstly I was delivered the wrong bike for the trails that had to be undertaken. While it was a ebike it was a city trekker which was a problem on rough and sandy parts of course. In addition it arrived without the necessary adaptor which resulted in me searching for an electrical shop where i had to purchase one . My husband inadvertently on first day broke the key to unlock the battery for charging purposes. We called the bike shop which was 100m away from hotel, the gentleman said he would come over and replace. On the third day of our trip we were informed over whatspp by Caminoways that all services for our trip were on hold as there was an amount of 150 Euros due for new key. I was also told how lucky I was, it should of been 200 Euros for the key swop!!!! If the bike shop had said to us upfront " look you welcome to walk over and fetch a new key OR we can come over and deliver BUT it would cost you this amount the choice would of been an easy one. There was no support from Camino ways in understanding our situation and we felt pretty much held to ransom to pay this amount. This is our third time with Caminoways and will I be using them again in the future, absolutely not! They should take their role as one's agent more seriously.Written July 8, 2024

Don't book with an agency, especially this one. I have had the experience of sharp practice, disappointment, frustration and mind numbing inflexibility.
Use booking.com or air b and b. The camino is a walking adventure and requires fixability.
If you have a mobile phone, there is no reason to use an agency. The camino is a 4 to 8 week walking trip and weather, sickness or injury will cause you to change your plans.
I booked a trip in 2020 and because of government restrictions the trip was postponed.
Camino Ways refused to give me a rebate, and added deadlines, the latest is to fully rebook the trip by the end of November, this month and restrictions which means I am unable to arrange a new trip and I have lost the money I paid. I have made so many phone calls in which I thought the matter was arranged only to find out later a new deadline or restriction was added later.
To add to the problems, I am based in the UK and Camino ways is based in Dublin which means they act under Irish law. If I had booked though a UK company UK law would mean I would have received a rebate because of C19 laws.
I have given up on seeing my money again. I am putting this down to experience and writing this review so you may benefit from it .

Hi John, I'm sorry to hear that your experience with us hasn't lived up to your expectations. Throughout our conversations and emails, we have tried to be as flexible as possible and tried to find a solution that works. We have offered you the opportunity to rebook your tour to travel in 2023 if you book before the end of this year. This is in addition to extending our rebook offer to travel from 2022 to 2023. We have no problem confirming your travel in 2023 but in order to do this, we do require travel dates before the end of 2022. You have declined to confirm your tour so unfortunately, there is nothing else we can do.

It was okay. Good not great, not a lot of fresh vegetables or fruits, and too much bread. The walk was the best part. Lodging was average. In addition, I needed to contact Camino Ways as I had missed my train connection the first day at 8, there was construction going in trsin station and it was so confusing, and it was hard to find someone to help. Had to get another ticket for 70.00 more than original ticket and no refund on the old one. Contacted my pick up driver scheduled through Camino Ways to let him know right away. Didn’t hear back from him so I called the “emergency only” number for Camino Ways. The CSR was very rude and scolded me for not calling sooner, said I was lucky the driver hadn’t left yet. I had to almost shout to get her to stop talking so I could inform her I DID contact the driver. Furthermore, it was stressed that this number I called was for emergency’s only. Although I missed the train, I would not define it as an emergency and that is why I directly contacted my driver. I later provided that proof to CW and they apologized. But this left a poor impression of CW right out of the gate. Not a good way to begin a trip/pilgrimage in a country I have never been to. I was told on my walk I should have booked through a certain other company, I won’t mention the name but I would caution anyone inquiring whether to use use CW to do due diligence before booking. I found the rates to be high also and the lack of support very disappointing.

This was a fantastic experience - Camino Ways attention to detail ensures you have nothing to worry about and can just walk & enjoy the scenery. The luggage transfers, accommodation and meals all provided without any issues. We had the unfortunate experience of not receiving some of our luggage but the staff at the Sarria hotel were just amazing in assisting us communicate with the airlines & then ensuring the luggage caught up with us along the way. The walk is well signed & the support you receive from Camino Ways can't be faulted. We also did 2 tours with Camino Ways while in Santiago - the Tapas tour just fantastic, Carlos was so knowledgeable & interesting, a well worthwhile enjoyable experience. Then the bus tour to Finisterre, another brilliant worthwhile experience. Thank you Camino Ways.

Caminoways review
Starting the Camino:
When you book Caminoways point you to a series of Guides and videos and make you sign up to their portal, so none of this information is ready to hand. There should be a BEFORE YOU START walking email simply explaining to mention you have bought yourself a Camino Passport AND that you get your first stamp in the hotel you are staying in and then your second during the day. I met a fellow Caminoways traveller who did not know this and walked the who trail without a passport and therefore was not eligible for her certificate when she completed her walk.
Accommodation:
Caminoways offer you two types of accommodation: Standard and Superior, but they tell you if Superior isn’t available, they will put you in Standard Accomodation ( but they’ll charge you the Superior rate). Of the 6 hotels I stayed in, only 2 were Superior. When I checked into my (2 Star) hotel in Portomarin, I emailed Camino ways to say this wasn’t ‘superior accommodation’, they said ‘hotels called "Pazos" in Galicia are historic buildings surrounded by nature. So in fact, ‘Superior Accommodation’ has nothing to do with accommodation but the surroundings outside the accommodation. When I finally stayed in my first ‘Superior Accommodation’ Caminoways admitted I was lucky there had been a cancellation so I was going to get a 2nd superior accommodation when clearly I would have only gotten one!
Value for money:
Basically, Camino book your hotels and taxis to take your bag from hotel to hotel. My fellow Caminoways traveller and I realised that as the hotels offer the bag taxi transfer service, so it would be as easy to make those 5 bookings ourselves for quite a saving: Caminoways could do a lot more to add value to their offering - Perhaps a nice item would be to send you decent luggage labels (not printable paper ones) and a welcome package in your first hotel. You think you’d get a daily email telling you were your next hotel was/ some local features or info. Basically Caminoways is a DIY travel portal. You pay and end up having to figure out everything yourself. I definitely wouldn’t use them again.

Dear Customer,
We greatly appreciate your valuable feedback.
We sincerely apologize if you missed the information regarding the pilgrim's passports. Please be aware that this information is typically included in the pre-departure details provided in your travel documents.
Upon revisiting your itinerary, we can confirm that you were indeed booked in our superior accommodations throughout your journey.
When booking with us, we always specify that the availability of superior (or country cottage options) is subject to availability. If, at any point, these options become unavailable, we typically make arrangements for our standard accommodations and refund our clients the price difference.
In your specific case, no refund was issued because you were consistently booked in our superior accommodations for the entire duration of your trip.
On our website, you can find comprehensive information about what is included in our superior or country cottage packages. This detailed information is highly appreciated by the majority of our clients who seek a unique and exclusive experience.

We take your comments seriously and will use them to enhance our services for future travellers.
Once again, thank you for choosing to journey with us, and we sincerely hope you enjoyed your Camino Experience.

The only reasons that this trip wasn't 5 stars were that:
I couldn't download the route maps and guidebook to my phone
the daily luggage service never gave us permanent tags
and the directions to the optional massage could have been much better.
Everything else was smooth and easy. The transfer to Sarria was prompt. The hotel printed directions each night were great, and it really eased my mind to not fight for accommodations right before the Holy Day. I called about the luggage tags, and (Ron?) set up a WhatsApp group to settle things.
I fully intend to rebook with CaminoWays in 2023 for the Primitivo!

We actually did this in 7 nights with 5 days walking so we could have almost 48 hours in Santiago - which I think is one if the best cities in the world.
I did it with my daughter and I have just returned from our Camino and everything went superbly well.
I stayed in 4 of the hotels I stayed in when I first did the Camino seven years ago and I think they had all improved since then.
I would say you organised a five star trip for us. If I could give you six stars I would.
It was great value for money too.
So once again thank you so much.

Just got back from our walk from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela. Camino Ways is the best. Four of us did our planning through Camino ways. They took care of all our details just as planned. Accommodations and baggage transport went smoothly. No worries and all we had to do was enjoy our time on the trail.

Just returned and have wonderful memories, helped by a great group of people I met at the start of the Comino. Our luggage was transferred to each hotel without any fuss and I was pleasantly surprised the hotels were better quality than i expected. Our Guide Sam was fantastic, very knowledgeable patient, understanding and lots of fun. Sadly dinner was let down for those in our group with dietary conditions. All in all everything went smoothly from airport pickup to return journey.
