Azienda Agricola Brogioni Maurizio wine tasting and lunch
Maurizio, the owner of the vineyard, was wonderfuly happy and proud to show us his land. he could have talked about his orchard all day, his enthusiasm entirely justified. justified. The Azienda Agricola Brogioni Maurizio vineyard is quintessentially Tuscan and some of the most beautiful countryside i have ever seen. this vineyard is very small - about 9 acres but it is nestled in rolling green hills and, further away, majestic purple mountains. The grape vines and olive trees stretch serenely across the gentle grounds and it is just heavan. Enough about the land. Maurizio and his wife provided us with a delicious lunch consisting of breads, cheeses and hams for starters. These delicious morsels were outshined only by the orchard made olive oil and balsamic that he served along-side them. We then had a a delicious homemade gnocci with pesto as the main course, and last but not least a delicious cream dessert with his own balsamic glaze. Accomodations were gaciously made for my daughter who was a nut allergy. We sat and drank and talked like we were old friends - sharing stories of our land and theirs. i never felt like i was being "sold" anything but I was more than grateful when the list came out should we want to purchase anything because we were more than eager to take a little slice of this heavan home with us. it was a glorious day.

      Mauricio’s vineyard is amazing!!
He was so kind and showed us the vineyard and taught us how it works. It’s a family run vineyard and he planted every vine himself! Extremely accommodating and can’t recommend it enough.

      Chianti Winery
Maurizio was so good at presenting his wine and really took the time to educate us all! We’ve been to probably over 100 wineries from Napa, Ca to Paso Robles, Ca. You will not be disappointed! Make sure to try the Syrah! Amazing!

      Charming, beautiful little Chianti winery
We had a fabulous visit to this winery on a short 1/2 trip from Florence. Maurizio was a fantastic host and we enjoyed learning about his vineyard. The cheeses and bread and olive oil were fantastic pairings to his wine. Of course we shipped some wine home to the US !

      Best advice from tour guide
We were on a private tour and this was recommended by our guide. Maurizio and his wife Cristina were so wonderful. The wine is fantastic and they make wine, olive oil, and multiple other products. They were so warm and inviting. Highly recommend this for a great Tuscany experience!

      Chianti Winery Visit Brogioni Maurizio
Thoroughly recommend this winery! What a gem. Maurizio was so very friendly. The winery is beautiful and the wine selection is delicious. Shipping to other countries is available so we selected our favourites and are having them shipped back to Melbourne. Cheese and meats were paired with the tasting which was 5 full glasses. A delightful experience!

      A wonderful experience
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We learned about the growing of grapes and olives from our hosts. They were very welcoming and we had a relaxing visit and enjoyed excellent wines, possibly the best olive oil ever and some incredible chocolate. We had lunch and they served delicious meats, cheese and pasta cooked with wine. Great food and friendly hosts. We ordered wine that was shipped here to the states. Everything was well packed and it arrived in about three weeks. I highly recommend this experience and be sure to do lunch!!

One of the highlights of our holiday
We hired a driver for the day and asked him to take us to a vineyard for a wine-tasting and lunch. He chose this one, and we were so glad he did. Our hosts were very friendly, funny and welcoming. Maurizio showed us his vines and olives and explained about the wine-making process. He then took us inside to where he keeps some of his wine. His wife cooked us one of the best meals we had in Tuscany - simple but delicious. We had pasta with pancetta followed by meats and cheeses (we discovered Mosto Cotto, which is a kind of grape reduction that's great to dip cheese into) then a refreshing light dessert of whipped yoghurt topped with their dark chocolate and olive oil sauce. We sampled 6 wines - one white, one rose and four reds. I enjoyed all six of them and had difficulty choosing when it came to buying (please note: we didn't feel under any pressure to buy, we just wanted to because it was all so good). I fell in love with their olive oil and red wine body lotion and now wish I had bought more bottles while I was there. They shipped the wine and olive oil back to England for us.

      Outstanding
We visited Maurizio as part of our tour in Toscana and we were awed by his passion and love for grapes and olives. All his wines are wonderful although our top votes go to the 100% Sangiovese wine. The view is wonderful and the host makes you feel welcome immediately. We sincerely hope this won't be our last visit at this wonderful place.

This Azienda is amazing but the owner is outstanding, humble, incredible etc... what a great sir! We appreciate a lot all that we learned with him, the products that he makes are so delicious. We really enjoyed the tour. Of course we ordered his wine and my husband said that he won a client for life. I can't wait to go there on October to see the colors of the grapes and enjoy again another tour there. Ciao Maurizio a big hug!

Maurizio Hospitality at its best when we visited Azienda Agricola Brogioni Maurizio
From the time we were picked up at our accommodation to the time we left we enjoyed every moment. The wine tour was informative and got to ask questions from start to finish. We learnt so much about what food to eat with which wine. No question was silly. Our luggage became quite heavy after we left

We went as a group of 2. The experience according to the wine awas pretty good, we tested 5 types of wines which were good. The host (Maurizio) was really simpatic and kind, he explained very well the process of wine and olive oil making. However, the price was not realistic and not corresponding to the quantity of wine and apperitive.

Had a lovely visit here as part of a private vineyard tour around the Chianti area. Spritz the dog came to meet us on arrival and we enjoyed a wine lesson and tasting with snacks with the the owner himself - here is a man who loves his work! His enthusiasm and appreciation for his vineyard and olive groves is infectious. We had a delightful morning in his “office”- the beautiful Tuscan countryside!

We went to the Maurizio Brogioni Winery as part of an AirBnB experience. Maurizio was an absolute pleasure to be around. He was so passionate about his work and his passion was clear when he talked about his wines and olive oil. He was also hilarious. It was by far the best and most fun stop on our tour. We cannot say enough good things about Maurizio, I wish we would have spent a week there and spent time with him! We are very excited for our wine and olive oil to make it state side! We would absolutely go back!

The sunny Tuscan countrywide, picturesque villages, fields of grape vines, peaceful olive groves, and the warmth of Italian hospitality. This is what my son and I were fortunate enough to experience on our day trip to visit Maurizio at his farm in Montefioralle. And I have yet to mention the real purpose of our trip, to taste the region's famous wine, Chianti Classico.

It was an easy trip. We caught a bus from the Donatello station next to SMN train station, and in under an hour we were in Greve-in-Chianti. If I recall correctly, bus tickets were only 3 euros each way, and buses ran about every 30 min to 1 hour. Greve has a charming piazza in the center of town, where Maurizio met us. He was just as warm in person, as he was in his emails, and gave both my son and I bear hugs as he asked about our trip. Despite the language barrier, we had no difficulty in communicating. As we traveled out of town, and up the hill to Montefioralle Maurizio pointed out all of the historic sights, and would stop for us to take pictures of the panoramic vistas below. He seemed to know everyone that we passed. For you history buffs, Montefioralle (population 79) is the birthplace of Amerigo Vespucci, and Maurizio showed us his home.

We first got a tour of the farm, and were educated about the grape vines. We saw some vines which were over 15 years old, and others which had recently been planted. Here are some of the key takeaways:

    * the grape vines must be at least 5 years old before grapes can be harvested and used to produce 'Chianti Classico.'
    * the roots of all grape vines in the area are from the US, and then Italian grape varieties are grafted onto these roots. This is due to a virus in the soil which came from America, and destroys the roots of all but American grape plants. Who would have known that Italian wine had American roots!
    * to be classified as Chianti Classico, the grape vines can only receive water through rainfall. Irrigation is not allowed. That is a fact that I bet you didn't know!
    * all of Maurizio's wines are organic

Then we moved onto the olive trees. Some of the trees on his farm are over 150 years old. Harvesting is done by hand in October, and each day is transported to a local facility to be pressed into olive oil. Here are the takeaways from our education on olive oil (you will notice that there are fewer of them, as by now we were eager to move on to the wine tasting!):

    * olive oil is made up of 2 types of olives. Morayolo, which are black in color, make up 60%, and frantoyo, which are brown or green, make up the remaining 40%.
    * hand picking, while more labor intensive is the best way to harvest olives. The other 2 methods, combing the trees, or shaking them down both do damage to the tree and to the olives.
    * the shorter the time between harvesting and pressing, the better the resulting olive oil. Maurizio ensures that this time is kept to a minimum.

And now onto the wine tasting, where Maurizio educated us on how the different varieties of wine are produced (with great care, and love - in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Maurizio gives each of his barrels of wine a hug each morning!)

Here are the takeaways (keep in mind, that these were written in between generous pours of 4 different varieties of wine, while enjoying delicious varieties of cheese, bread soaked in olive oil, truffle oil, and an unbelievable balsamic vinegar that is handmade with the skins of the grapes. A most gracious host, who kept refilling our plates and our glasses!

    How Chianti Classico is made:

    * 1st fermentation (12 to 15 days), the temperature must be maintained at lower than 32 C. Maurizio called this a 'frenetic' process, where the sugar is converted into alcohol. This fermentation begins 1 hour after picking! (In between the 1st and 2nd fermentations, the skins are removed). The wines color, acidity, taste, smell is all determined in the first 15 days after picking.

    * 2nd fermentation (lasts 2 to 3 months). It is also called the 'Malolatica' fermentation, where the strong "malico" acid is transformed into a soft "latic" acid.

    * now the wine spends 6 months in steel tanks, after which it meets the requirements of the regions most popular variety, "Chianti Classico."

Maurizio also produces 3 more exclusive varieties:

Chianti Classico Reserva - which spends an additional year in 500 liter wooden barrels called "tonnause."

Super Tuscan, and Gran Selection - which spend an additional year in smaller 225 liter wooden barrels called "barquex."

I am sure we stayed way past our allotted time with Maurizio, but none of us seemed to be concerned about time. After this memorable experience, Maurizio drove us back to Montefioralle, where we did some more sightseeing before making our way back to Greve to get our bus back to Florence.

Grazie mille Maurizio for your the memorable day, and grande abbraci!

Maurizio was a fabulous host. The first stop on our wine tasting day in Chianti and the standard was set so high!
Located at his house, with a side shed for the tasting and wine making, this was an unforgettable experience.
We had an amazing tray of cheese and meats to accompany the wine.
The BEST part...the Olive Oil!! BEST OLIVE OIL LOTION EVER!!!! MUST GET THE LOTION!
This is a must go. The view is spectacular and the company is even better. There were even people there with families and the children were having a blast!!

Beautiful town with spectacular views. We went to a wine tasting in town at Pruneti Oil, a few blocks from the piazza, and it was wonderful. For 25 euro we each received a tasting of six of their olive oils with green apple slices to cleanse our palates followed by a mixoilgy (I'm spelling that correctly) cocktail - your choice of cocktails mixed with their oils. Very different and very good. After the tasting, we sat outside on their patio and had the cocktails. Highly recommended. If you go to Greve in Chianti don't miss out on stopping at a nearby (10 minutes tops) hilltop town called Montefioralle. Also spectacular. We ate at a fabulous restaurant there called I'Desio. It is tucked away and overlooks the valley below - a better view for lunch there isn't. Daniello opens his home to a hand-full of patrons and you receive a seven-course meal, with wine and water (both natural and frizzante) for 35 euro each. Simply Fantastic!

Maurizio and his wife, Christina, were wonderful host for our wine tasting! She even cooked for us: a drunken pasta, cooked in Chianti, home made Greek yogurt with chocolate sauce. To accompany the exceptional wines, we were served plates of cheeses and Italian meats, and bread with their own olive oil and vinegar.
They also make some really great face, hand and body creams and lotions.
Did I mention the view: magnificent!
Thank you Maurizio and Christina for am amazing lunch!

We had originally planned on visiting Orvieto on our way from Rome to Florence but decided the day before to shorten our travel time and take the high speed train so we could do a half day winery tour outside Florence. It turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Maurizio and his wife treated us like family. Their vineyard has absolutely stunning views of Chianti and his grounds are well designed and maintained, especially the tasting area. The best part is... I didn’t even realize how much I liked Chianti wines until I had his. Phenomenal wine maker!! We also ordered his olive oil and chocolates— both excellent like the wine. This guy definitely knows what he’s doing. A must visit in the region.
