About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- GiuliaS17010 contributionsBreathtaking and transformativeI really wanted to see the Himalayas while on this trip, and I was concerned cos I was by myself. However “Mapping the Himalayas” made everything easy and safe for me. I did the Chopta 4 days-3 nights hike. My guide Ankush took really great care of me from the start, the views were breathtaking, and the experience full on with local mountain people - nothing touristy or mainstream. Of course there were some challenges, lots of rain (for me monsoon season was the only possible date) and I had to get out of my comfort zone a little, but it was totally worth it! Would 100% recommend!Written August 26, 2024
- Rohit3040 contributionsRudranath TrekWe did a 5D/4N Rudranath Trek with the help of MTH (Mapping the Himalayas). We met our trek leader Kalyan Negi aka "Kally Baba" and helper cum cook Vikram Rana aka "Vikka" in Rishikesh, which was our pickup and drop-off point. From our pickup till drop-off they managed all the things very efficiently, our vehicle was good, the food and refreshments given to us was very good, the places we stayed was good. Kally and Vikka know what they are doing, which made our trip so easy for us that we were not worried about a single thing. In addition, Kally has a lot of stories to tell which will keep you guys engaged while you are tried and resting. Vikka is a very nice and shy person he doesn't talk much but he is also fun to work with. I highly recommend using MTH for your any trek and trips anywhere in Uttarakhand, they have a efficient team and equipments to make your journey fun. One thing that people need to understand that you are going in the remote mountains where the facilities and food cannot be upto your expectations and mother nature can be ruthless but these guys will do everything to get the best for you. So don't worry about the comfort and enjoy your trip.Written June 12, 2024
- Anned33990 contributionsJust amazing!!We did a 6 days tour from Rishikesh. We drove to Gangotri and walked from there to a mountain place called Tapovan. The trek was really beautiful. We slept 3 nights in a tent which was cold but because of the good sleeping bags we didn’t felt cold. We got really good food and drank a lot of chai! The guides (Gali) and cook (Bika) were amazing, friendly and funny. We really enjoyed it!Written May 17, 2024
- 520haraldz0 contributionsFantastic Tour - Wonderful views and outstanding tour operatorThe views from the top of the mountains are fantastic, although some some smoke hides the sunrise. The walk down the mountain provides beautiful sights of nature, small villas and waterfalls. The tour operator (Mapping the Himalayas) provides an excelent service - good breakfast, snack during the tour, safe walking and orientation and support to the group members, and no hurry - allowing the group to walk on their desired pace with stops for photografy whenever desired.Written April 5, 2024
- lukaprem0 contributionsMemorable experienceNice experience. A wonderful start to the day at sunrise at the temple. Then a pleasant hike to the waterfall, where we refreshed ourselves. The guide was very friendly, he told us a lot of interesting things, he took good care of the food and drinks. It's worth going!Written March 29, 2024
- dafnas5650 contributionsTrek to the Chopta with Narayen and his companyWe went trekking with this company to the Chopta tre. Everthing was arrange to the best. Spacial thanks to our guied Narayan, which his charm, kindness and his knowladge "made our trip"/Written March 24, 2024
- mittbhogaita0 contributionsWorth the Trek ;)This is a scenic Tour setting out early doors, so you don’t miss the enchanting sunrise. Once you’ve had to peacefully take in the Sunrise and visit the Devi Temple, you’ll embark on the hike/trail back down the mountain. This is where my guide Ankush was truly great and came into his own. He even gave me his own trekking sticks to help and was able to talk through all the different sites and parts of the land while hiking along and made sure I was as comfortable as can be, even stopping at points for a breather and drink. What I learnt, this being my first time on this trek, and something that may help others after reading this in terms of how best to prepare for this trek / excursion is as follows: *) You have to be generally in physical decent shape to take on this trail comfortably. *) Please make sure you have the right footwear…. Coming along to this in your sandals or Nike’s ain’t going to cut it at all. Wear trekking boots if possible, that will support/protect you ankles from twisting and that are more likely to have deeper studs for grip *) This trail I would give a medium difficultly rating for someone who hasn’t done it before. *This is because there is allot of steep descending parts if this trail which there is “allot of loose rock and gravel” that you can easily lose your footing on, and it’s not a place you want to be injured. *)Theres no way around this as “the path, is the path” which for locals and experienced hikers will find easier then the first timer. I absolutely enjoyed myself and would do this again, but this time being better prepared and a more realistic expectation.Written March 15, 2024

- Getaway283194915650 contributionsBeautiful Sunrise TourWe had an amazing day with Anil! The sunrise at the Kunjapuri Temple was very beautiful as well as the hike back to Rishikesh with many cool spots! The whole team from Mapping The Himalayas was very kind and knowledgeable! Definitely recommended!Written March 6, 2024
- jacqd20230 contributionsGreat Experience with a Seasoned LocalI booked a private trek as a solo female and was not disappointed. Kaly was a great guide who offered plenty of stops, offered to help me when trail was loose, and even helped snapped photos! He kept a steady pace along mine, and made sure I was safe the entire time. He knows edible plants, talks with the local villagers, and gave tips for parts of the Himalayas where he's from. The sunrise at the temple was great, but i was eager to get the trek down started, so I asked if we could start the trek early. He was happy to accommodate. After the trek, he offered some local tips as well, which were very helpful 🧘🏽♀️Written December 26, 2023
- Colette M0 contributionsYou will not find better !Our trekking to Kuari Pass was perfectly organised. We felt very safe and comfortable with the team. They were very friendly and attentive but in the same time kept always a healthy distance. The food was fresh cooked and delicious, we even had sweet after dinner. It was physically a bit challenging for me but I enjoyed every step ! Kali the guide knows exactly when to let you walk at your path and encourage you when needed. He and his team are men with pure hearts and know these mountains by heart. It is sure I will go with them again !Written October 20, 2023

Personally I went for the Alaknanda rafting expedition with MTH and I’ll never forget the experience, everything was PERFECT! Kaly is an amazing tour guide and overall everyone working at MTH are high vibing people. We did Chopta-Deorital-Chandrasila trek and a three-day Rafting expedition with Mapping The Himalayas. We were a group of 8 and we had the time of our lives with them.
From the moment we arrived at Rishikesh till the moment we returned five days later, the Mapping the Himalayas team were with us throughout.
Their hospitality was top class, they cared for our needs even without us asking and were terrific hosts. They knew what they were doing, be it the trek or the rafting expedition.
They guided us expertly and ensured we had a ton of fun while keeping safety of the group paramount.
The food and accommodation they provided was really great. Kalyan Negi and team ensured we had the time of our lives and they are highly, strongly recommended. They are the BEST!

Where do I begin? From just having a 30 minute conversation asking if we could make something happen with the travel window of 3 days that I had to just having the most incredible experience of getting a glimpse of Gharwal Himalayas, rafting down Ganges on return (wasnt even something we planned, but when asked, Kaly and team made it happen!).
What stood out the most - with Ankush our guide for the journey, we simply felt like a part of an extended family wherever they took us, be it where we stayed at Chopta, or at Sari. Enjoying meals together we truly picked up a friend along the way. Sharing local tales and way of life, all in all, it was just an immersive 3 days with these guys.
I also want to highlight the adaptability and importance these folks gave to us having a really great experience, we needed slight changes in our plans and it was seamlessly made to happen on the fly, discussing what worked best for us!
I'm definitely retuning for another round with these folks!

It was good trip with you from Rishikesh to Chopta. Actually, our trip was not planned, but you guys manage it in a single day. I appreciate it.The only issue is that there is no good quality of washroom in camp. This is so irritable for me and we have to manage 3 people in 2 people bed room. Thats why I have rated 4 star otherwise I will definitely rate it 5 star. Staff are friendly nature.

My friends and I wanted to do a trek, we found Kelly's agency and it was the best experience ever. These 3 days were amazing, Kelly was with us from the beginning, he gave us the necessary equipment, food, places to sleep in and good vibes. He was funny and motivating. I didn't believe I can climb a 4,090 m mountain, but I did it thanks to him. I recommend.

This was the most wonderful experience. We were two friends in our 50s who were a little unsure about how we would manage. Mapping The Himalayas were brilliant from the start in terms of comms. Always responsive and helpful. We were brilliantly looked after by our wonderful guide Naryan and driver Anil from start to finish. The trek itself was sensational. Amazing scenery. So exciting to reach the summit. They provided crampons for the final ascent. The first camp was heaven. The camp for nights 2 and 3 more functional than beautiful but everyone very friendly. The drive there and back also really fun. An all round incredible experience. Big thanks go to Devish for his helpfulness and reliability. And to our friend Naryan for looking after us so brilliantly, for getting us up and back down that mountain and for being an all round lovely, fun, sweet natured soul. 🙏 all round top job, Mapping The Himalayas. Highly recommend these guys.

The Chopta trek with Kaly and Ankush from Mapping The Himilayas was the highlight of my trip to India. The team were great in explaining the history of the area and meaning behind different sacred areas. The trek itself was beautiful well worth the early morning wake up.
I wouldn’t hesitate to book with Mapping The Himalayas for my next trek in northern India!
