Four of us took this tour as part of our girl's trip to Arizona. We were heavily debating making the stop to Monument Valley as it was a far detour. However, after reading many positive reviews we ultimately decided to work it into our itinerary. We are so glad we did as it was the highlight of our vacation! The area was so unique; it had a landscape you won't find anywhere else. Larry Team was our tour guide and he was fantastic! He went above and beyond to not only explain the history of the Najavos and the region, but to also allow us ample stops through the backcountry. He was very personable, showed us all the best angles for photos, and we never felt rushed. I would highly recommend this tour, you won't be disappointed.

Our guide was Leslie, who picked us up from our hotel lobby. The tour started without delay, and we were seated in an open truck with padded bench seats with canvas cover on top.

Leslie stopped at all the highlights from the main loop, as well as off-road stops that we wouldn’t have been able to access on our own. He even pointed out a couple of photo spots for us, one was a standing muddy water in front of the three sisters rock and when we looked down at the muddy water, the entire rock formation was reflected on it. It was a neat picture!

He also sang for us at the Big Hogan stone, which happened to have great acoustic that allowed his voice to echo nicely.

All in all, it’s a great experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Monument Valley.

At the beginning of our Back Country tour, my husband I were picked up at our KOA RV Park by a very pleasant young man, who provided us with possible things to see during our stay in Monument Valley, and he dropped us off at the starting point of our 2-1/2 Morning Tour. At the end we were also returned,
Our Guide Marjory was excellent. She was very personable, and good natured, and made us feel like family, and provided us a wonderful tour, and was quite helpful pointing out the different hidden secrets in the rocks formations along the way. I’m sure I for one, would haven’t seen them had she not done so.
There were six couples in our group, and Marjory even took the time to take each couples’ Pano at both Moccasin Arch and the Big Hogan. A great memory of our tour.
At Big Hogan, she sang us two songs and did a wonderful job there too.
My husband and I would highly recommend this tour with Monument Valley Tribal Tours and suggest you ask that Marjory be your Guide.

Great tour with our amazing guide Larry Team! We drove in from the Utah side and were already amazed at how scenic Monument Valley was and we couldn't wait to get up close and personal to this beautiful area. We were so glad we did the tour with our guide Larry because #1) you don't have to wait in the long line of personal vehicles to get into the valley, we go right in. Some folks were waiting over an hour to get in and even then you are restricted to where you can go. #2) Larry took us to places that only a Navajo guide could take you along with an awesome Native American weaving demonstration. We were shown where a lot of famous Hollywood movie scenes were filmed along with the best spots to get the best photographs. Highly recommend this tour!

Our tour was incredible. I have often thought of visiting Monument Valley but never took the time to go way out there from Ohio. Our tour guide, Marjory, was Navajo and knew everyone it seemed. Having grown up on the reservation there, she was knowledgeable about EVERYTHING. Anyway, I'm not much of a writer but want to let you know that this should be on your bucket list.

The tour we took went throughout the entire tribal park where anyone without a guide could go on their own. But, then we were able to go further into the backcountry and watch an older woman demonstrate the art of rug weaving, dyes & where how they are made, and shared personal experiences of ancestors being captured by the Spanish and later Kit Carson...hiding out in the backcountry after escaping each time. Genuine history!

Marjory, our guide, brought the human historical element into what would have just been a drive down a few dusty trails. Thanks for making this the highlight of our two-week trip throughout the Southwest!

Our guide Larry Read made a tour with extraordinary scenery even better by telling us Navajo stories and even singing. He was very knowledgeable, a great story teller who never rushed a story and had a gentle laid back sense of humor. We were mesmerized. The scenery was like being in a star wars movie or old western. Cannot recommend tour and Larry Read enough.

We were lucky enough to have a tour with Vera. Vera gave us some really in-depth and personal information on the Navajo traditions and history and brought the valley to life. She even sang a song in the Navajo language at one of the monuments : a really special moment that will remain one of the highlights of our holiday. The tour was great but the additional insights and commentary from Vera made this really worthwhile.

We had an extra day in Monument Vally and wanted to see more of it. We were staying at the Monument Valley KOA in our RV and they recommended Monument Valley Tribal Tours. Their recommendation was spot on.
Sandrea picked us up at that RV park and took us over to the point they load everyone onto the tour truck. To our pleasant surprise we were the only two people on the tour.
We had many stops for photos and at every stop Sandrea had dialog to go along with the scenery that included history. We stopped in for a weaving demonstration, and at one of the stops Sandrea sang a chant for us. It was all quite magical and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We felt personally welcomed and recommend the experience to all.

It was a cold early-morning tour in February, but it was a great time to visit. There were not many people around at that time in the morning, which made for great pictures of the fantastic scenery. Our guide was personable and knowledgable. We also enjoyed talking to the weaver in the Hogan. She sells rugs and other traditional crafts at better rates than the gift shop, but you have to have cash.

Marjory was our guide. There was only my husband and me on the tour. We were in an enclosed van - which we were grateful for as it was quite windy and chilly at the beginning of our tour. Marjory was absolutely excellent. She was very knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. We were able to spend as much time as we wanted at each stop and she pointed out things of interest and gave us background into the Navajo tribe and how they lived. We would certainly recommend this company - and in particular Marjory.
