Hiking in Kanab: Walk and Photograph the incredible Wire Pass Slot Canyon!

By Vermilion Cliffs Day Tours
About
Wire Pass is mainly a flat and narrow slot section in the Grand Staircase-Escalante. There is potential for amazing and soft color in the walls of Wire Pass and would be interesting for any photographer. Petroglyphs are located in this canyon and date back to 1000 AD. A great choice for young children due to the high canyon walls. This is a shared tour for up to 20 people.

      Incredible Guided Hike Experience
Wow! We experienced majestic beauty in an area we would have otherwise not been able to see, all guided to suit our skill level and interest. Kyle was a great conversationalist and outstanding host; he is passionate about the area and goes out of his way to provide a stellar experience. I hope we can return soon and go on another adventure!

Another great tour with Dreamland Safari
Todays Dreamland Safari tour to the Teepees was amazing despite the temporary weather conditions we experienced. Maddi was our tour guide who delivered us safely to and from our hiking destination. Maddi was very pleasant, professional and knowledgeable about the rock formations we were viewing which made the tour much more interesting and exciting. She was very attentive, checking on the group routinely and making sure we were well hydrated during our hike. I had a great time and would definitely recommend Dreamland Safari. This is my second year and fourth tour with them. The tour guides are very experienced and knowledgeable. I'm never disappointed.

Hiking North Coyote Buttes (The Wave)
My wife and I loved our hiking tour with Grand Circle Tours and Kyle to the famous North Coyote Buttes, also known as The Wave, in Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, AZ. It was our 8th guided day trip with Grand Circle Tours, whose guides are fantastic - they show you hidden gems that go off trail that we'd never find on our own.

White Pocket photo tour with Kyle
Enjoyed a wonderful, information packed tour with Kyle. Took photos and drone footage of fantastic rock formations. Kyle worked with our comfort level while guiding us through the rocks. Highly recommend Kyle and Grand Circle Tours!

      Excellent Guide to Zion NP
Superb day with Kyle showing us all the highlights in Zion National Park. Kyle is a very knowledgeable guide and pitched the day very well. Long hike at the beginning of the day and lots of consultation on routes and options. At the end Kyle drove us through to the eastern exit to show us the views. Not part of the original plan but a great option.

      Great White Pocket Experience!
Wonderful guidance with great local knowledge. But beyond that, the attention to assisting a member of our group with mobility issues was above and beyond. Our day was enhanced greatly by this care and attention!

      Great natural beauty
We enjoyed our time in the South Coyote Buttes of Vermillion Cliffs. It was an extraordinary day. We traveled after a snow fall on the previous day--and the snow on the cliffs made the sandstone (if such a thing is possible) even more spectacular. Our leader, Bruce, is very skilled. He knows the Buttes like the back of his hand, and led us with assurance and confidence on a journey of exploration, with one amazing sight after another. He was very caring, and made sure our pathway (a bit more slippery than usual) was safe. You will be in good hands with Bruce, because he is an experienced rescue volunteer--though he has never had to rescue one of his clients. He is also an amazing competent backroads high clearance vehicle driver--braving deep puddles, mud and slush with complete confidence. This review would be 5 stars if it were not for one issue. Please be aware that from Fredonia (where we met Bruce) to the trail head, was a solid 3 hours of driving on back roads. We drove 1 1/2 hours to meet Bruce. So we ended up spending 9 hours in transit. There is no question that many readers of this review will be willing to travel for any length of time to see such amazing beauty. However, be aware that there is a lot of back road to ride over before you can start your hike.

      Wonderful
STUNNING. We went in November. There were a couple people leaving as we arrived. A couple more coming in when we left. Easy hike, amazing rocks. You can see it from above, but you really need to go down into the rocks.

      White Pocket is LIT!
Hunter was such a great guide! The entire day went smooth and the scenery was incredible. Definitely a place that is a hidden gem. Hunter was a great driver (of intense roads) and had loads of knowledge to share. Spectacular tour and scenery and a day I’ll never forget!

      A great activity for all
What a beautiful area! We were able to drive the dirt road in a sedan, so don't let that description scare you. It's a wonderful hike on the rocks. Don't just look over the edge, go over to the left and down onto the rocks and out to the large rock outcropping that can be climbed to the top. Just be sure to remember where you came down and where the trail is that goes back to your car. It was a great area to explore!

Amazing Tour of White Pockets from Page, AZ
We booked a tour to White Pockets from Page, Arizona with Grand Circle Tours. Angie is a great guide. She was very organized in the logistics of the tour, and made sure everyone was safe and comfortable. She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and flexible with the schedule. The White Pockets is amazing. The hike was easy. We went in October 2021, and we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. One of my favorite tours in this area!

      Don’t go w/o Bruce
Peek-a-Boo Canyon was spectacular, the colors on the sandstone, tricks on maneuvering around the terrain, spots for photo ops, history of the canyon, Native American markings and so much more!!! I’d like to thank Bruce from Grand Circle for his expertise, knowledge, love and respect of the area. He made the tour so much more than just walking through. Bruce pointed out the differences the sun makes on the sand and how going in is soooo much different from coming out. I highly recommend getting together with Bruce on your next trip to Peek-a-Boo (or Red Canyon) ask him why it’s nickname is Peek-a-Boo.

Stunning scenery worth the long bumpy drive
My wife and I took the South Coyote Buttes tour which you needed permits for. There was a young couple that were also on the tour as well as our guide, Mark. The area is a photographer's dream There are beautiful rock formations everywhere you look. Mark, knew the area well and guided us in a way that allowed us to see much more of the Buttes than if we had gone on our own. He made sure we had adequate water, food, and bathroom breaks on the way to and from the buttes. The pacing was good considering two of us were in our 70's and the couple was in their 30's. The drive is long and the roads bumpy and sandy but we were driven in a way that minimized any discomfort. We stopped at a Condor viewing site which also added to enjoyment of the tour. We were pleased with the tour and Mark, our tour guide, and recommend Vermilon Cliffs tours

      Buckskin Gulch near Kanab, UT
We booked a tour with Grand Circle Tours and our tour guide was Kyle. We originally wanted to go to Antelope Canyon to see the colorful rock formations but the canyon is located on a Navajo reservation and it was closed to the public because of the pandemic. Not knowing the area we put our trust in Kyle and were rewarded with a wonderful tour. It was exactly what we wanted to see, in fact, it exceeded our expectations. My husband and I are both in our early 70's, both of us are fairly active but we were not sure if we could do this tour. Kyle took his time with us and we rested periodically. He adjusted the tour based on our capabilities. In our case it was about 7 miles round trip. The track has very little climbing and very little ups and downs. We were able to see and enjoy the rock formations. They are incredible. On top of all this, the place was not crowded. It was the high light of our trip and we'll be talking about it for a long time.

Hiked Buckskin Gulch with Grand Circle Tours. Owner Kyle was most accommodating to our many questions. Our guide Angie was so informative and tailored the hike to our desires and skills. We learned so much, had an incredible hike and saw amazing natural rock formations. We could never had such an experience without a guide nor had been as confident with weather, flood, and navigation in the canyon. THANK YOU KYLE and ANGIE!!!

We loved our hike at Wire Pass Slot Canyon with Angie. She was an excellent and informed guide. She shared information throughout our hike that made our trip educational as well as pleasant. She was wonderfully easy to talk with. We had to cut our hike short due to mud, but Angie drove us to a beautiful area of Grand Staircase Escalante, where we enjoyed information about the area as well as the air conditioning on a hot day. I highly recommend the experience!
