- flyingunicorns980 contributions3D2N Ijen and Bromo TourWe recently took a 3D2N tour to Ijen and Bromo with Java Adventure Trail and it was an unforgettable experience. Booking prior to the trip was done effortlessly via WhatsApp and Sofyan answered all our questions promptly, giving up tips on the weather and what to prepare before the trip. Our guide, Ari and driver, Cahya were absolutely amazing during the trip. It was very well organised and executed perfectly! Cahya’s safe driving enabled us to sleep comfortable and soundly in the car from all the early morning calls. Ari’s knowledge and wit helped us to endure the challenging portions of the hike. We highly recommend getting Ari as your guide to have a spectacular experience!Written March 23, 2025
- francescaw3920 contributionsAmazing few days in Java - highly recommend! This tour was amazing! We chose the upgraded package instead of the basic for slightly more money but it was so worth it. All of the hotels we stayed in were way above expectations, and we especially loved the one at Bromo. Our guide Dino was amazing and so was our driver. They were very informative and accommodating. Dino knows so much about each place and is always happy to share. The car was super comfy and I didn’t even notice how many hours we were driving most of the time. The only disappointing part was not seeing Mount Bromo on the final day as it was too cloudy, but this couldn’t be helped - nature is unpredictable! Everything else was perfect and I’d definitely do the tour again.Written March 22, 2025
- Anne_Bennett_930 contributionsThe best trip!We had the most amazing time on this trip! It was a brilliant way to see east Java. Everything was so well organized and it was great not having to think about transport! It was seamless! From Mount Bromo to Kalibaru and Sukamade everything was beautiful. We are massive nature enthusiasts and loved seeing this part of the world. A major highlight was the drive to the secluded beach to release baby turtles. The whole thing felt like an adventure and it was great to get off the beaten track! Massive thank you to Nano and Bams. Nano was an excellent tour guide and photographer! We had a brilliant time exploring this part of the world with him and really appreciated all the information on each area. They were both also really helpful to advice on nice places for food and coffee and some extra activities. Accomodation was also top notch! Thanks again for the wonderful memories! Highly recommend! Adventure of a lifetime!😊Written March 21, 2025
- 875jacky0 contributionsOther worldly tour, guide par excellenceAn eye opener...so unlike bali where materialism rules. People here in the smaller towns are genuinely friendly and passionate, exuding charm and hospitality , and not because they want to separate you from yr money. Our guide was ARI, fluent in English, pleasant in manner and helpful beyond the call of duty. From IJEN to bromo, he was solicitous throughout whilst never intrusive, a knowledgeable guide par excellence..Were we lucky or what ! The highlights : Spectacular sights not beheld anywhere else but iceland, thrills galore not unlike Queenstown in new Zealand... All for a small fraction of the costs...what is there to regret Dr yikWritten March 18, 2025

The home stays were decent. Apart from visiting tempur sewu and volcanos which were stunning, we also knew more about Indonesian cultures. Look forward to our next adventure in Indonesia.Written February 15, 2025

- Koos B0 contributionsMount IjenHere’s a grammatically corrected version of your text with improved readability: --- Wow! A lot of sweat, but certainly worth it. One of the most spectacular experiences of our lives! At 62, we have traveled quite a bit, and this was truly unforgettable. This acid lake, with its mesmerizing blue fire phenomenon, is one of a kind and absolutely exceptional. To witness it, you need to wake up at 1 AM and reach the base camp. From there, you’ll hike up to the rim and then descend into the crater—all while it is still dark. The blue fire is only visible in the dark, and what a sight it is! At dawn, you get to see the acid lake in the morning light, and trust me—the pictures on the web are not misleading. It is absolutely spectacular. We were fortunate to have a very competent guide, who was a miner himself before becoming a guide. A very big thank you to INDOTRAVELTEAM for making this incredible experience possible! Some Notes: You need to be fit and in good shape for this hike. There is a “Lamborghini” service for $30, which can transport you up to the rim and back down to base camp—but not into the crater. If you want to see the blue fire, you must descend into the crater down to the lake. A gas mask is required, as oxygen levels are significantly lower inside the crater. Bring plenty of water with you. We were slightly overdressed—it wasn’t cold at all (though we were lucky with the weather). Good hiking shoes (acid-proof and with proper grip) are highly recommended. An absolutely unforgettable adventure!Written January 30, 2025
- Getaway627265867920 contributionsA wonderful tripAbout our wonderful trip around Java Island: we saw the beautiful unusual nature of this island, spent time comfortably on the road and in good hotels. The three-day trip was eventful and interesting, of course such an adventure is unforgettable. Special thanks to our guide Nano: he was always happy to answer our questions and tell us about all the sights, he made our trip very comfortable! We are looking forward to another trip!Written January 29, 2025

- alvinb7750 contributionsExcellent Trip Despite Rainy Season ChallengesWe were very happy with the trip! The entire process was seamless, and we could simply sit back and enjoy. All our wishes were fulfilled, and our guide was incredibly attentive and accommodating. Unfortunately, we were unlucky with Mount Bromo, as capturing the iconic view isn't guaranteed during the rainy season. However, our guide kept our spirits high and made the experience enjoyable despite the weather. I highly recommend booking with this company – they made everything so easy and memorable!Written January 10, 2025

We did this tour from Banyuwangi.
Very well organized trip and unforgettable experience!
I would like to emphasize the amazing job done by our guide, Hamid. He was very friendly, shared a lot of knowledge and history of Ijen and also helped us to take great pictures!
What’s most important, since there were a looooot of people on that day, nevertheless Hamid perfectly understood our goal - that we want to be first to start from park entrance and first to reach blue fire before all the crowds, and he made that happen! He also chose the best spot for viewing the sunrise later on without too many people as well. Despite massive crowds, he made the trip look like we were the only one there :)
I would highly recommend choosing Hamid to be your guide :)

We did a tour to Ijen from Bali and it was a great experience, we highly recommend it.
The booking process was seamless.
The highlight of the tour was our guide Hamid! He knows every spot of the volcano as he used to work as a minor. He made our way up in the dark easier, showing us where to walk and where to stop for great views and photos. As a bonus, he takes really good photos too. We went down the crater and again we couldn’t have done without him as it is tricky going down. He literally held my hand many times to support me and I finished the tour without any falls :)
Apart from the panoramic view of the lake, we saw the blue fire 🔥 and we also saw a beautiful sunrise in the best spot!
Our drivers Agus and Wahyu were also great!
Mount Ijen is a beautiful place! The only thing I would change if I was doing again is my shoes. I wore normal runners and I found them a bit slippery, especially on the way down. Wear proper hiking shoes if you can ;) or ask for Hamid as your guide and he will hold your hand and you won’t fall.

Hotel pick up went smooth, as did the ferry ride to and from Java.
Hamid, our guide, picked us up in Bali and rode the ferry with us. He was a kind man who has worked as a sulphur miner himself for a couple of years. He was able to give us amazing stories and insights into the harsh work conditions.
Once at the trail, Hamid was very encouraging and kept an eye on us, making sure we didn't need a short break.
At the base camp and the top of the volcano, it is quite cold so dress in layers and wear good shoes. Once hiking you'll get warm soon enough.
Hamid knew exactly which spots provided the best view of the sunrise on the one side and the volcano and miners on the other.
In short, it was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience and views, accompanied with the best possible guide.

We were staying in Ubud and we came across Mt Ijen with the “Blue Fire” so after doing some research we decided to book our private trip with Java Adventure. The booking was very easy and we had a confirmation from Sofyan straight away with all the info we need for our trip. We have to say we both enjoyed our trip today.
Our driver Kadek came and collected us from our hotel in Ubud, he is very safe on the road and he looked after us when we got back from Java. Hamid our guide was wonderful, very knowledgeable and he made sure both my partner and I are ok on the trek. My other half didn’t go and see the blue fire but Hamid made sure he is safe while he took me down to the crater to see the blue fire. He really looked after me up and down those loose rocks and he is an amazing photographer too! Our driver Adi who transported us in Java is also wonderful, very polite and punctual.
Can’t fault the company and their wonderful staff. But be warned that there are thousands of Chinese tourists and they all seems to push each other out the way to get to the blue fire and up and down the slippery rocks, they just don’t give way to anyone! Make sure you use a company like this or have a guide like Hamid who knows what he is doing to guide you through. As I am quite unfit it was a very hard trek for me but I did it without paying for the “taxi” to push me uphill to the top.

We had an amazing experience with Andre as our tour guide! He was super nice and very flexible with when we wanted to go up. He picked us up at our hotel with his great driver - Bams - and the car ride was very smooth. While it is true that the way up is quite long and steep (feel free to take little breaks if you need it), the conversation with Andre was great and we made it to the top before we even realised it. Andre made sure we felt comfortable all the way. The views were breathtaking at sunrise and the Ijen lake and smoke were awe-inspiring. We would 100% recommend this tour! It’s a once in a lifetime experience, don’t miss it!

We went on this trip starting from our hotel in Munduk, Bali. Our driver picked us up at 22:00 to go to the ferry in Gilimanuk Port. Here we met up with our guide Hamid. He took us on the ferry and allready gave us some explenation as to what we could expect and what it is like to live and work on the Kawa Ijen. Hamid was a sulfur miner himself for years, so we got a first hand account of what it is like. We then drove to the base of the Kawa Ijen and started our climb. It was about a 90 minute climb. Challenging but doable for two people who don't normally go hiking or running at home. Hamid guided us the whole way, gave us flashlights and had gasmasks with him in case needed. Hamid was a very experienced guide and probably the best we could get. A very nice, kind man who is caring and is eager to share his stories with you.
Once at the top we witnessed the most beautifull sight we have ever seen. Seeing the sun rise on the top of the Kawa Ijen was breathtaking. Here we also got an explenation from Hamid on how the miners work and he took us to meet some of the miners who are still his friends.
Overall, do not hesitate and book this experience. It's a once in a lifetime thing and you will treasure it forever.
P.s. we slept in the cars going to the mountain so don't worry about having enough sleep, the climb is doable.

We have just returned from a trip to Mount Ijen where we were accompanied by our wonderful guide, Hamid, from the port to the hotel and then at 3am for the main event. He was knowledgable, passionate, patient and proud and also gave us a great insight being an ex sulphur miner too! A thoroughly enjoyable trip. A word for the hotel too which turned out to be way beyond what we were expecting.
