      Unique and Historical
Jeanine, the tour guide, was super friendly and had the perfect balance of letting the guests talk in between stops and explaining the history of the places. The food was pretty tasty and the portions were like appetizers. I've been to Oak Cliff many times before but never knew the hidden history of the place. Thank you Jeanine for the tour and coordination!

      Christmas lights tour
We booked at the last minute for the “Christmas lights/chocolate nights guided Adults only tour”. Our tour guide was very charismatic and entertaining with approx 11years experience guiding in the area. She provided an excellent experience for everyone on the tour. The chocolate stops were great choices of locally owned operated businesses showcasing their unique flavors and cuisine. We plan to go again next year, it was definitely the best way to appreciate the ornate Christmas light displays around Dallas. Oh and a special shout out to the bus driver Leslie. she did an excellent job maneuvering the spacious bus around the neighborhoods and businesses in traffic at night.

      Tasty overview of Bishop Arts
Very nice food and history tour of the Bishop Arts District. We stopped at four places for pizza, sandwiches, Asian hot wings, and popsicles. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and the murals. Tour could have been much shorter. Anyone who lives in Dallas or has been there several times gets tired with the JFK information, but for first timers, it’s interesting.

Tacos and Margaritas Tour with Rhonda
Rhonda was our tour guide and all of the tacos and margaritas were delicious. Rhonda was engaging, high energy and made the tour fun. The meeting place was big enough to host our group but it was a bit too cozy and warm for a sober group of strangers to meet. The bus transportation was good, and a perfect way to see some of the districts in Dallas. Highly recommend.

      Disappointed-Don’t Waste your time
Don’t waste your time booking, only to be canceled the day before. I booked this for my mom’s 65th birthday as a surprise, and was called less than 24hrs before that it was not happening. I understand there is a caveat on the booking, but apparently they had 10 people signed up and they canceled all 10 because they didn’t have 14 people. Ridiculous loss of business, and the owner was quite cold about it. Will never book with this company again.

Absolutely the best time ever! Schrunda was an amazing guide! We had delicious tacos and margaritas and laughed our heads off. The other people on the tour with us were a blast as well.

      Terrible
Went on the haunted tour but 3 of the planned stops were not pre-approved and the other stops were not interesting. Tour guide couldn't be heard at the back of the bus at all.

      Had a blast
The only complaint I have is that all sales are final. We purchased 3 tickets and one of our party members got really sick and we called 2 days prior and the would not refund the ticket. Other than that we had a blast. Our group was super friendly, the food at Desparado’s was very tasty, the popsicle place they took us to was AMAZING and our driver and tour guide where great!

      Cheap tour for the price
This tour was marked by shortages and short cuts throughout the night. At the beginning, we were told to sample lightly on the charcuterie so there would be enough to go around. No utensils were provided to serve the brie or slice large chunks. Ran out of plates. Microphone on bus not working. Christmas music not available (can one of the passengers lead us in carols?). "Multiple dessert stops" was only a single brownie at one location and single hershey kisses on the bus- if you won a trivia prize. Ran out of red wine on the bus before the tour was over. Winery was great, lights were great. At half the price, I would have been satisfied.

Saturday, December 14, 2024 was the night my group of eleven went on the Christmas Lights, Chocolate & Sips Tour - Park Cities, Dallas - Adults Only. I have been on many of this exact type Tour, plus most of the other Food Tours that Dallas Bites! offers.
The bus was immaculate and new. Bus Driver Archie was good, and Tour Guide Pam Pinto organized and informed us well, plus had a few trivia questions and information about the areas we passed through and visited.
Everyone in my group had a great time! I passed out the contents of three twelve pack boxes of individually wrapped Ferrero Roche chocolates to everyone on the bus, plus the contents of two bags of individually wrapped Lindt Milk Chocolate Truffles. A happy Tour Bus is a fun Tour Bus! The chocolates seemed to put everyone in the Christmas spirit. Maybe it was all the wine and beer? Anyway, the crew got happier as the Tour progressed. I would comment on all the chocolates, brownies, doughnuts and anything else we consumed, but I don't remember the names of all the joints.
I do remember everything was yummy!
We visited one or two large estates in Highland Park that I don't remember seeing before. I believe they may have had new owners that jazzed up their Christmas light displays with new lights and music coordinated flashing. Very cool. If I win the lottery, I'll do some of that. Bottom line, my group was happy, so I'm happy.
    Thanks, Jeanine, good job!

Really a lot of fun. Tour guide and driver were over the top knowledgable about tour stops, route, etc., and kept us entertained between stops. Overall a memorable experience for all. Did I mention the chocolate shops/offerings were outstanding!

The chocolate tour was really fun and I'm so glad I was able to do it. I managed to snag a spot last-minute and was so glad it worked out. The driver was very friendly and professional, engaging with the passengers as we got on and off the bus. Our guide was very friendly and gave us background on the different neighborhoods we visited. Very well-run, and the tour stops were all fabulous. A really great way to see the city and get some amazing chocolates!

An unsympathetic or irresponsible process at all levels
Do not trust either Viatour or Dallas by Chocolate to honor your reservation or to rectify situation.

We arrived early and we're first to board the tour bus. We had 5 vouchers, but the owner called my husband to tell him we only had 1 sear. After sharing our confirmation and 5 booking confirmations we were still told by owner/operator that we only had 1 out of 5 tickets confirmed and that they wouldn't refund our money. She, Jeanine, said we had to call Viatour to have our $300+ refunded.

We immediately called and Viatour confirmed all 5 reservations but Viatour wouldn't refund money. They obviously overbooked since the tour guide had to stand even after our party of 5 left the bus.

I expect if you are in the practice of over looking, that you are then able to refund when services aren't rendered.

The owner had no problem calling us to get off the bus, but won't pick up the phone when calling back for refund.

The owner operator would then not answer calls from Viatour or us. When I looked back at past reviews it seems others have had this issue. It seems obvious that they overbooked and just refused to admit their mistakes.
After 2 hours on and off hold waiting to speak with a manager we received a refund.

4 hours later the owner called to ask me to remove my review. She said Viatour was to blame for booking too many spots and this had never happened before. She never responded to my husband, but she does check her reviews. I let her know that I would be honest. 2 hours on hold to get a refund with Viatour is preferable to no response until you post an honest but negative review online.

Overall, I think they overbooked and rather than contacting us, hoped there would be enough no shows to cover. Then zero accountability from Jeanine and Viatour when that happened.

It was fun but left late while waiting for people. We had been told they leave at 6:30 sharp and anyone late would have to meet us at the next stop. This was not the case.
Stopped at 3 mediocre chocolate shops, one was really a small art gallery with a small dessert And not very good chocolate.
3 stops are too many. When we finally started the tour of highland park, we were tired.

We were offered wines but it took a long time to get any and very small pours.

Suggest one or two organized stops with sight seeing in between.

Also maybe learn more info about some of the homes at highland park.

Our tour guide was fun and friendly, and our big comfy air conditioned bus visited 5 unique places we would never have found on our own! We started out at The Village Baking Company where we were able to chose from the many enormous pastries offered. This French bakery’s Kouign Amann and Chocolate Almond Croissant were AMAZING!!! All of the other places also had delicious chocolate; Kate Weiser’s were beautiful works of art. It was a fun afternoon, generous on the chocolate. I’d recommend this tour and we are looking forward to another one with this company as they have other choices!

I try to give the benefit of the doubt to local businesses, but they earned their low review.

We purchased 4 tickets for my anniversary celebration in Dallas. They stopped at 3 chocolate places, and at each place we essentially got the cheapest, smallest dessert. It seemed like it was a free sample with the workers giving us a sales pitch to buy more rather than $40+ paid for tour. I felt like I was in a time share pitch: "Get a free trip to Disney World if you spend the entire time sitting in on a sales pitch."... Only i had to pay for the whole thing...?

That already made for a disappointment but I probably wouldn't have taken the time to leave a negative review if it stopped there.

    XMas lights
The initial two stops were pretty good so I had high hopes that we'd end on a good note.

However, the time on the bus was awkward and ended up being about an hour longer than it should have been with long periods of silence from the tour guide.

Ultimately, I didn't feel like I learned about Dallas or the areas we went, which seemed appropriate on a Dallas by Chocolate tour, but the clincher was that after the second lights stop we got lost for AN HOUR! People in the bus started asking when we would get back to our cars, and they still didn't take a hint.

Anyway, bad experience. I'd suggest saving your money and visiting Deep Ellum or Uptown.

I took the Lights and Chocolate tour last night, (12/23/2021) with five adult family members. It was beyond boring. The guide and driver were nice enough but the tour itself was a bust. Made 2 stops (plus the meeting place) where we were told by the employee how the business was started and by whom. Then we were handed a single bite piece of candy. The narration on the bus was laughable. There appears to be little to no preparation, no script or interesting information. There was even a brief debate/misunderstanding between driver and guide as to what stops to make. This is an example of the narration during the Christmas Lights viewing part of the tour. “A lot of the trees are pecan trees. Pecans are hard on the outside and there’s a nut inside that makes pies”. I paid over $300 for my family for this second rate, waste of time tour. To say that I am disappointed is a huge understatement.

My daughter and I have been on this Chocolate and Christmas Lights tour several times. All have been wonderful experiences - except for this one. The tour guide nor bus driver coud get the radio or intercom system to work, so there was no christmas music and we could not hear anything the guide had to say. If this was our first time on the tour, it would have been our last. Very disappointing.

We took the Christmas lights and chocolate tour Dec 4. We had been on 4 previous tours and they were all so much fun. This one not so much. AC in bus not working even though it was 75 with about 35 people on board. Tour director was nice but lacked the pizazz that I was used to on previous tours. Music sounded like it was coming from an iPhone in the front of the bus - Not the stereo throughout the whole bus that we had on previous tours. The stops were all good but spaced too close together. This whole tour was boring and a complete letdown from what I expected.
