It was fun but left late while waiting for people. We had been told they leave at 6:30 sharp and anyone late would have to meet us at the next stop. This was not the case.
Stopped at 3 mediocre chocolate shops, one was really a small art gallery with a small dessert And not very good chocolate.
3 stops are too many. When we finally started the tour of highland park, we were tired.

We were offered wines but it took a long time to get any and very small pours.

Suggest one or two organized stops with sight seeing in between.

Also maybe learn more info about some of the homes at highland park.

Our tour guide was fun and friendly, and our big comfy air conditioned bus visited 5 unique places we would never have found on our own! We started out at The Village Baking Company where we were able to chose from the many enormous pastries offered. This French bakery’s Kouign Amann and Chocolate Almond Croissant were AMAZING!!! All of the other places also had delicious chocolate; Kate Weiser’s were beautiful works of art. It was a fun afternoon, generous on the chocolate. I’d recommend this tour and we are looking forward to another one with this company as they have other choices!

Although we had a late start due to the bus getting caught in traffic to pick us up, the trip went well and was lots of fun. Our guide, Rhonda, was delightful and kept us entertained the whole evening. Our driver kept us safe and took us to fun stops. We stopped at three restaurants to have chocolate treats and we would have never known about them had they not been on our tour! We drove by lots of Christmas lights in the Park Cities area. I would suggest taking this tour earlier in the season because traffic was bad on December 23. Jeanine was lovely to work with and really helped us add an extra ticket at the last minute. The wine was generous and we were allowed to bring our own, too. Social distancing and COVID precautions were taken by this company.

I received an email 1 day before our event. It stated to be in front of a restaurant at 12:45pm and if we are not there by 1:00pm sharp the bus will leave without you. At 1:00pm there was no bus at the location specified. No one holding a sigh to identify the pick up location or the company. Fortunately I spotted an unmarked van in front of Tom Thumb that people were walking towards. I got lucky or I would have been at the designated pickup waiting for a bus that was never going to pickup at the stated location. As far as the tour goes it should not be called a Chocolate tour but a desert tour. Chocolate was the least item available on this tour. We had cheese cake, then a cookie, then 1 truffle and a small piece of bark, 1 shot of ganache, and 1 scoop of ice cream. Had the tour guide not passed out chocolate during a triva game that would have been all we got. We received no itinerary in advance nor on the bus.The last stop neither the driver or the guide had ever been there so we drove around to find it. At one stop we had been double booked with a group of students so we all sat around and waited for 50 kids to finish. At the ganache stop we were told there was not enough time to taste anything else there. Why was there no time? We left at 1:10pm and was back to the parking lot before 4:00pm. This experience was not even close to justifying a $43.00 per person ticket. The driver never spoke to any of the guests why would he deserve a tip? Wanda the tour guide did her best. I do not know how this company got so many good reviews our trip was the worst run tour of this kind I have experienced. Please be aware when booking ANYTHING with this company.

Thank you so much for your review. All your points are well taken, so we will go out of our way to improve future experiences. We carefully planned the stop at the chocolate place with the 50 students so that it would not overlap yours, but their bus was an hour late and we are sorry that it arrived at the same time as your tour. Our main goal is to fully satisfy our customers. We strive to provide a lot of chocolate on our chocolate tours; at places like the ice cream shop, you can select chocolate but do not have to. We do not give itineraries to guests...it is a mystery tour. We hope to see you again soon. Cheers!

I try to give the benefit of the doubt to local businesses, but they earned their low review.

We purchased 4 tickets for my anniversary celebration in Dallas. They stopped at 3 chocolate places, and at each place we essentially got the cheapest, smallest dessert. It seemed like it was a free sample with the workers giving us a sales pitch to buy more rather than $40+ paid for tour. I felt like I was in a time share pitch: "Get a free trip to Disney World if you spend the entire time sitting in on a sales pitch."... Only i had to pay for the whole thing...?

That already made for a disappointment but I probably wouldn't have taken the time to leave a negative review if it stopped there.

XMas lights
The initial two stops were pretty good so I had high hopes that we'd end on a good note.

However, the time on the bus was awkward and ended up being about an hour longer than it should have been with long periods of silence from the tour guide.

Ultimately, I didn't feel like I learned about Dallas or the areas we went, which seemed appropriate on a Dallas by Chocolate tour, but the clincher was that after the second lights stop we got lost for AN HOUR! People in the bus started asking when we would get back to our cars, and they still didn't take a hint.

Anyway, bad experience. I'd suggest saving your money and visiting Deep Ellum or Uptown.

I took the Lights and Chocolate tour last night, (12/23/2021) with five adult family members. It was beyond boring. The guide and driver were nice enough but the tour itself was a bust. Made 2 stops (plus the meeting place) where we were told by the employee how the business was started and by whom. Then we were handed a single bite piece of candy. The narration on the bus was laughable. There appears to be little to no preparation, no script or interesting information. There was even a brief debate/misunderstanding between driver and guide as to what stops to make. This is an example of the narration during the Christmas Lights viewing part of the tour. “A lot of the trees are pecan trees. Pecans are hard on the outside and there’s a nut inside that makes pies”. I paid over $300 for my family for this second rate, waste of time tour. To say that I am disappointed is a huge understatement.

We took the Christmas lights and chocolate tour Dec 4. We had been on 4 previous tours and they were all so much fun. This one not so much. AC in bus not working even though it was 75 with about 35 people on board. Tour director was nice but lacked the pizazz that I was used to on previous tours. Music sounded like it was coming from an iPhone in the front of the bus - Not the stereo throughout the whole bus that we had on previous tours. The stops were all good but spaced too close together. This whole tour was boring and a complete letdown from what I expected.

Greatly enjoyed the experience. The bus was comfortable and the guide and driver both did a very good job. The guide was knowledgeable of the local area and shared many interesting Dallas tidbits along the way. Good selection of both chocolate stops (varied, so hopefully everyone had at least one they liked -- I liked them all) and light displays (some of which I would never have found on my own. Enjoyed getting to disembark and wander at a couple of the displays (so many Santas!!). Pleasant group of fellow travelers as well.

Dallas by Chocolate puts on FIRST-CLASS tours! They put a lot of thought into making them interesting and fun. We did the Socially Distanced Christmas Eve Tour for 2021 and had a GREAT time.
The concept was a tour of some of the best (if not THE best) Christmas lights locations in Dallas. The chocolate treats were outstanding and unique.
Our tour guide was awesome and made it very easy to do the tour, which really says a lot about how well she planned it.
No doubt we will go on other tours in the future.
Dallas by Chocolate is an unheralded institution in Dallas, and really adds to the fabric of living in this area!!
