- Estrada da Praia da Vigia, Estr. da Praia da Vigia, 7570 Melides, PortugalDear sir/miss, to come to our horse riding on the beach, if you come from Comporta, when you are arriving to Melides, you pass the first entry of Melides, and after at the curve you turn right where it says Cemetery. You continue straight unto a dirt road for 5km. After a 20KM sign, you find in 200M, a sign on your right PASSEIOS A CAVALO MELIDES, where you turn. Continue straight and pass through a gate (if closed, please call). Then park the car (usually there is a truck). If you come from Grandola come straight on the main road of Melides and in the T section that says Santiago to the left and Comporta to the right, turn right and after 50m turn left following the CEMETERY/RURAL TURISMO sign. You leave the cementery on your right and continue down a dirt road for 5km. After a 20KM sign, you find in 200M, a sign on your right PASSEIOS A CAVALO MELIDES, where you turn. Continue straight and pass through a gate (if closed, please call). Then park the car (usually there is a truck). Please arrive 15min early so the ride can start on time. Thanks

But you don’t need experience to ride, a small child and her father were also part of the group. In addition the communication when booking this ride was excellent and they will do their upmost to accommodate your needs. I already did a lot of horse trails in different countries and expected a classic horse trip. But it was so much more. We had fantastic 3 days with excellent horses and the best Guide you can imagine. Luis and his Family did everything to make us feel comfortable. Also for experienced riders it is a big pleasure to join these rides. I will definitely come back to do a ride with my horse friends. It is a big adventure! The pace is slow so you can really enjoy taking in the beauty this place has to offer. The horses look healthy and looked after. We were offered wine and cheese at the end of the trip which was a perfect way to relax and reflect. I would really recommend this experience especially to those who appreciate natural beauty nature has to offer and love animals :-)Written June 19, 2019

In the end, lunch was not arranged and said there was some miscommunication. The ride was too rigid, without safety measures like headwear. Not a good experience pverrall. - FurryOtter0 contributionsSuch a fun experience, view was amazing and Luis was so nice!!!!We are a family of 5, with 3 children (boy - 13, girl - 15, and boy - 10). Even though it wasn’t the best of weather the view was stunning from the sand dunes above the beach. The beach walk was fun and we even did a little trot. Definitely would recommend to anyone because it really is perfect for anyone. Luis Lamas, who took us on the tour on his horses, is, himself a vet from Lisbon and owns 24 horses. He is so passionate about his job which really made for a wonderful experience!!!! He is always there to help and really knows his stuff, which helped because none of us were particularly good on horseback!!!! Thank you for the great experience:)))Written April 7, 2019

The location is a great spot close to the ocean and a nice view of the countryside. Me and my friend had a lot of fun and we would be happy to return again to take the second tour on the ocean. - evj19720 contributionsOutstanding! The most memorable day of our Christmas holidays.We offered this horse-riding experience to our 11-year old daughter as a Birthday gift. She loved it – and so did we! It exceeded all our expectations and it turned out to be the best day of our Christmas holidays. Luís Lamas replied promptly to all our (many) questions throughout the booking process and proved extremely skilful and knowledgeable during the ride itself. The horses were really gentle and easy to control, even for someone with no horse-riding experience as myself. We felt very safe at all times. The ride took us through the beach (empty at that time of the year) and through the lagoon (our shoes did not get wet but nevertheless it may be a good to take extra shoes…). Afterwards, following Luís suggestion, we drove through Peninsula de Tróia and took the Ferry to Setúbal – a perfect way to wrap it up. We would definitely like to go back. Maybe my husband could offer me the mountain ride as a Birthday gift, who knows 😉Written January 24, 2019

Luís and his staff were very friendly and helpful with getting used to the horses. We had a unique experience in that it was only my husband and I on the tour since it’s not the busy season. Luís is so friendly and responded so quickly in the time of booking our session and in giving us directions to the location. While we were on the tour we learned a lot about the local area as well as just having lovely life conversations. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone! The views are absolutely stunning. Luís knows his horses well as he is a horse veterinarian and will explain to you their personality and how to guide the horses through different terrain. I cannot say enough good things about Passeios a Cavalo Melides, whether you’re an experienced rider or first time being near a horse- check it out. Thanks again Luís!!Written October 20, 2018

The horses are amazing whether you are a beginner or experienced rider. The beach, mountain and rice field rides are all unique an I would recommend to do all 3. You will love it. But the owner kept everyone calm and was very confident and capable. We had the most beautiful ride along Melides beach. The scenery was breathtaking. I highly recommend riding in this area of Comporta, as it feels untouched and undiscovered, but was still only a 30-minute drive from our rental in near Carvalhal.Written September 12, 2018

We had hired a horse ride with your company and we arrived punctually at the facilities. On our arrival we had to sign a paper in which it stated that your company was not responsible for absolutely anything that happened during the activity, something that I have never seen before and made us doubt whether it would be a safe ride. It was informed that our level was medium (simple gallop and trot) but nothing really fancy, something that we repeated when they asked us when we arrived.
The tour started and our guide Thyago was not friendly at all, he came with a dog to the activity (something that is normally not recommended when you have horses involved) and he basically didn't pay much attention to us. We ended up on the beach and Thyago let us alone while he was training his horse (he must have been following us while giving guidance) and my wife lost control of his horse and got really scared. We informed Thyago, who didn't even notice, and he started shouting at us while making hand gestures, telling us it was our fault because he had expected another level. On the way back we all went in silence due to the shouting, which made the experience really unpleasant.
It was a really bad experience, badly managed by the tour guide whose ways were disrespectful. The whole experience ruined our day, which we paid over 200 euros (not cheap).
Hopefully this email and our reviews on several platforms make your company rectify and prevent this from happening to other people.

We were expecting a chance to canter on the beach as advertised. Instead, the guide made us ride in a straight line, not paying attention to the girl who couldn’t control her horse. We stopped so many times because her horse just stopped & the guide did nothing. The guide never made conversation or even attempted English. At the end, the guide was losing control of her own high-strung horse, yelling at him and pulling hard on the reins. I caught up in case she needed help. Horrible experience. Only saving Grace was the views.

My wife and I had not ridden a horse in decades, but we wanted to have the experience of riding on the beach in Melides. This company is terrific -- we had a wonderful guide, well-behaved horses, and a great trail. The guide was so reassuring and paid special attention to use because she knew we were a bit concerned about falling. She was the best! I would highly recommend this company.

Experiência incrível! Fui com o meu filho de 9 anos, ambos com praticamente nenuma experiência a andar de cavalo e adorámos. Os cavalos são extramente dóceis e o instrutor foi muito simpático e prestável. O cenário é lindo, a começar com a zona mais campestre mas especialmente quando se chega à praia. Pouco são os que não idealizaram andar de cavalo numa praia linda e praticamente deserta. Voltarei certamente!

The scenario is beautiful especially when you get to the beach. Who has not ever dreamed of riding a horse along an almost deserted idyllic beach? Will certainly come back!

Amazing sunset beach ride, a caring guide Paulo. We are experienced riders, we did trot and canter when we asked for and it was just fantastic. We were late for the initial slot but Luis kindly offered us another one for later. The most beautiful sights, dunes and a long, vast, white beach, perfectly behaved horses. We will be back next year!

**The owner apparently did not understand that multiple people were unsatisfied with the experience, because he replied to my google review referring to someone else who had complained LOL. The owner’s response is so incredibly condescending, I have no idea how this place has good reviews**
The most underwhelming experience of my life. If I wanted to just move slowly on a bumpy surface for 1.5 hours I would have taken the motorized shopping cart at Walmart. We were not allowed to go faster than a walk for the entire time. Then this guide Tiago was incredibly rude and didnt explain why some people were allowed to go “galloping” and some weren’t. Typical example of an employee having a power trip. The only reason im giving 2 stars is because the puppy there was super cute.

My daughter and I have just completed the 3 day riding experience for intermediate riders, a combination of mountains, woodland, meadows and beach.
Wow is all I can say, what an incredible few days we have had. Luis and our tour guide Madalena could not do enough for us, they paired us with amazing horses and did everything to make the experience as memorable as possible. Madalena is a credit to the stables, her professionalism and company were second to none!
Would definitely recommend and come back again!

Easy booking, I was able to book a tour for the same day. Friendly and professional team. I went with my 6 year old son and we loved it! It's not easy for 1h30 to hold and balance the child, but it was worth it and the person accompanying the tour makes us feel very confident and safe. Great!!!

It was amazing, horses well looked after and safe, our guide Eloise was also amazing she was very friendly and safety conscious if she thought it was unsafe to canter on beach then we did not, safety to us was her priority. We all enjoyed it (3 of us) and will definitely go back next time we are here. Thanks for lovely enjoyable morning

The place is amazing, just takes your breath away. Me and my friend were first timers on a horse but it was all very easy and appropriate for anyone. The organization was good, but what really makes this stand out is the amazing natural setting you find yourself in.
