With tickets for a 10:15AM time slot, we join others boarding the elevator to the top floor for our Country Music Hall of Fame self-tour. The museum has posters and displays starting with The Roots of Country. We learn that folk music grew out of various folk traditions that came together in the New World. The influences of the British Isles, enslaved Africans, and religious groups all impacted what is now called country music. The initial displays go through the history with the different influences, including The Old Time Religion of gospel singing, the birth of Dixieland, country radio stations, and TV western, such as Roy Rogers. The education continues with effects of the Tennessee and of Nashville sounds, the Grand Ole Opry, and into more recent influencers of Weyland Jennings and Willie Nelson in the country music from Texas. The Hall of Fame is educational and entertaining. So much to see and absorb! Intriguing are the various awards and the walls of gold records of entertainers. Reviewing the details we learn the Museum has more than eight hundred stage costumes, over six hundred instruments, and hundreds of other memorabilia from microphones to automobiles each documenting the history of country music. There is Elvis’ Gold Plated Cadillac, massive displays of instruments, clothing and more of numerous well-known country music stars. Additionally, a few theaters have videos going to enjoy the music of the stars. The Country Music Hall of Fame has a plethora of information, so we recommend taking time to explore and focus on areas of interest. We spend more time on the origins and growth through the last century since we relate best to that era.
We recommend getting the audio tour - we did not and wish we had.

We purchased our tickets for the Hall of Fame/Museum well before our trip and selected an admission time of 9:15 a.m., which is only 15 minutes after the museum opens and I'm so glad we opted to go early. By the time we finished going through it about 90 minutes later, the lobby was absolutely packed. So I highly recommend buying your tickets online ahead of time and selecting an early time.

The actual exhibits were really cool to walk through. We live pretty close to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and this was similar, if not a bit smaller, but the featured exhibits were in the same vein. It's always neat to see performers' stage costumes, instruments, song writing journals, and other memorabilia. Getting to see Elvis' gold-plated Cadillac in person was incredible! We're definitely glad we went.

Whether you are a casual or full-bore country music fan, you need to go here! There is no one part of the museum that you can single out as the best as the collection of memorabilia, clothing, cars, videos, etc. are utterly amazing. There are permanent exhibits and then rotating ones (seem to highlight individual artists) that are all fascinating and makes each visit a unique experience. The price is fair for all there is to see and plan on spending 2-3 hours to truly see everything on display. Just the wall of gold and platinum records is a sight to see. And don't forget to visit historic RCA Studio B! That is an great experience, too.

Arrogant and venal. I am a long time member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. I appreciated the educational focus of the Museum which is far from the kitsch that you might expect. However, I recently had a terrible experience that I think should be a warning for other people who might want to support the museum. On March 2, 2020 I purchased a ticket for a Graham Nash concert to be held on March 28, 2020. On March 13, 2020 I received an email from the Hall of Fame saying that the concert was cancelled due to COVID. I called twice between then and March 20, 2022 asking about the concert. Each time I was told that there was no news. On March 17, 2022, I received an email from the Hall of Fame stating that the concert was being held on March 20, 2022. That is three days notice. I was out of town and called to ask if I could give the ticket to someone else. I had purchased the ticket to be picked up at the box office with ID. I was told that I could not give the ticket to anyone else and could not get a refund on the ticket without the order number. If I showed up in person with my ID I could go to the concert, but I could not call, or fax, or email to let the box office know to give the ticket to someone else. The reason was that I had not kept an order number for two years. How does this make sense? If I could get into the concert myself with ID, why do I need an order number? And who in their right mind would expect a person to keep an order number for 2 years for a concert that had no date? Because I had faith in the Hall of Fame and believed that they would treat me fairly I am losing money and being treated like an idiot. It is an interesting educational place but it is not worth being abused. Do yourself a favor and go to places that treat you well. The Country Music Hall of Fame is not one of those places.

Very disappointing and over crowded. We were really looking forward to this museum as it seemed to be the best music related museum in town. Exhibits were very over crowded and you could barely get from exhibit to exhibit without having to wait in line. The majority of the exhibits are just clothing that has been worn on stage by random stars. Definitely not very interesting artifacts being displayed. Compared to the Musicians Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame was nothing but a waste of money. Possibly the Studio B tour could have improved our experience, however it was sold out for the day.

A little let down. Three floors of nothing of interest to us. I like some country music but my wife is a fan but didn't impress her either. A good part of the second floor was "under construction" but they sure didn't lower the admission price.

If you're a fan of country music then this is definitely the place for you. I brought my boyfriend who is a huge fan...I'm more of a rock and roll gal so this wasn't really my thing. I did recognize a lot of the older singers as I grew up with parents who listened to their music but overall I could have done without a stop here. The museum is very well done though so any country music fan will love it. My favorite of course was the smokey and the bandit car they have on display! I won't visit here again but that's only because I don't like country music.

FYI...they do NOT have parking so you will have to find a parking garage or lot and pay to park. The closest one I saw was less than a 5 minute walk though so you'll be fine.

Just ok for me. If you are a huge country music fan, you will enjoy it. Enjoyed seeing Elvis' car and some of the costumes. They let way too many people in at a time to really enjoy and read all of the exhibits. From a museum geek, skip if you aren't really a country music fan.

First, you should book a specific time to go to this attraction. However, online booking did not offer the senior discount or the military discount, so if you want to save a few dollars, buy directly at the museum. If you are a country music fan, this is an interesting way to spend an hour or two. Our tour started on time, it was an easy walk from our downtown hotel, but it wasn't an overwhelming experience.

My husband and I really enjoyed our recent visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Even though a few areas had exhibits that are being developed and not open yet, this is a must-see for country music fans. We also took the Studio B tour, and it was AMAZING! Ron was our guide and was very personable and knowledgeable. To be in the famous recording studio was humbling, to say the least. Absolutely wonderful visit :). **Tips: Buy your tickets online in advance and when selecting your museum time and your Studio B time, leave some buffer to enjoy lunch at the delicious Mexican cafe, just next to the gift shop. Food was really good (and I’m a spice wimp—lol) Very friendly staff and fresh menu items. Personally, we selected 10am to visit the museum, and then 1:30pm for the Studio B tour…worked out very nicely. Also, if driving, park at the Music City Center Garage on Demonbreun Street, between 6th & 7th Avenue. Easy parking and a secure lot. (Their staff was also very friendly:) ). Enjoy your visit!
