This zoo is for Australian native animal lovers. The grounds are extremely well kept,
flat & well signposted. It is well suited for the elderly, kids & disabled visitors.
Large enclosures for all animals & all appear healthy & well looked after.
Free car parking is included in the entrance fee. There are a few cafes inside
the zoo from which to choose. Also lots of zoo keeper talks & 1 bird show.
You can book an encounter & pay extra for a close up experience with your favourite animal.

Visiting a zoo or sanctuary with kids is always fun and so was this trip to Healesville. Kids had a fun day out with the opportunity to see lots of animals, birds, reptiles etc and enjoyed a lot. It was also fund to be able to get close to some of the animals including Kangaroos (as we bought the ticket for meet and greet).

Wonderful experience and the staff was so wonderful.
My partner was hesitant about visiting as he thought it may be like any other sanctuary we’ve been to. We are a couple in our late 20s without children but we enjoyed every minute of it.
We got to see the lyre bird put on a fantastic performance and it’s something I will never forget.
The staff were all so lovely. Full of information and would go out of their way to say hi to us whenever we crossed paths.

I’d like to make a special mention of Karen in the bird aviary who was full of information, engaging and took the time to talk to my partner about the birds. She was so lovely and made our experience even more memorable.

We visited here today when all the restrictions for Corona Virus 19 have been put in place. When we purchased our tickets we were told a lot of exhibits were closed in line with the restrictions and asked if we still wanted to visit. I admire the work they do here so it was a simple decision, if we don't get to see all the exhibits we would like to, they can still use our money to advance their work. It wasn't that bad going around the exhibits, I think the animals all knew to hide away but it is such a lovely area just to walk around so we still had a good time. Entry was a reasonable price.

This was my second and my husband's third visit to Australia. We were visiting a cousin in Melbourne and had been stuck in traffic in the city the day before, so were disinclined to brave the traffic again. We looked in our guide book and decided to go to Healesville.

There is adequate parking at Healesville. One pays for this on the way in. There is a plan to show where all the animals and birds can be found. We took our time and there was plenty to see. We saw a koala tucking into eucalyptus leaves, which was endearing. We saw all the better-known animals and birds and a fair few of which we had not heard. One example was Yabbies. The Australian man in our party told me about yabby fishing when he was a boy.

The aviary is remarkable and we watched the birds perform. It was rather a windy day and there were predators in the air, so the sanctuary staff had to be very alert.

One does have to be patient at times; we didn't see the echidnas at first, but after a few minutes they appeared.

We had a snack in the cafe late in the day. This was expensive as such places always are but we had no complaints about our food and drink.

Beautiful place to visit with plenty of Australian fauna. The zoo keepers are very interactive and informative. Very kid friendly with multiple kids play areas as well while you can sit down for a bite to eat. Money well spent for the time spent there.

Good experience and a good place for all to see the animals. The queue at the entrance moves fast. Wished the Koala keeper-attendant uses a microphone headset like the rest - could barely hear him.

Spirits of the sky is a must-watch. Have to queue early if you want to have good seats. On the day I was there, there was at least 1000 people queuing and apparently the capacity of the amphitheater is only 800.

There’s a snack bar but there’s only one person mending the bar.

Wifi is only available at the entrance. Go early (before 10am) if you want a parking spot near the entrance; otherwise u have to park closer to town which is an insane walk down.

I bought tickets via KLOOK app and you still have to queue via the main counter to get a physical ticket.

We went around mid-day and most of the animals were resting... the best experience was the Koala enclosure when the keepers did a little presentation. The kangaroos were all lying down staring back at the visitors. if you went earlier or later in the day, I think you would have a better experience.

Another reviewer said to choose your time of day and I agree. We went as they first opened and the animals were out 'n about and active, including the Koalas which were a lot of fun to watch. The kangaroos were hopping around and pretty much all of the animals we saw were active before the heat set in. The only ones that were not were the Tasmanian Devils...they were there, and I finally got to see them, but they were all asleep by the time we got to them, but it was still fun to see them.
The bird show was great, but it did get hot under the sun. The birds were beautiful and you could see them really well.
The platypus encounter was fun too. They are really cute and love to swim around.
You can get really close to the animals here and it is worth it to see them in this habitat. I did the koala experience (with picture) at another facility in Cairns, so I did not opt for it here, but I was told that you can do the same here although I did not look into it. If you want up-close encounters such as photo-ops and feedings, then check before and book in advance.

I went to visit twice in a month and my friends had yearly memberships. Saw my first Lyrebird dancing to attract a mate an feathers fully unfurled. Just spectacular.
I want to go back again many times to see the different exhibits.
